The El Camino Inn

The Club 185 take on Mexican food, and it works.  Simple menu of your Mexican basics (taco, burrito, torta) with a solid mix of meats to choose from.  Your usual Mexican beers.  The margaritas I've tried were super salty and sour, not really my thing.  It's usually busy and the place is pretty small but there's a table open more often than not.  When it gets packed the service can lag, but it hasn't stopped us from coming back.

The dude and I checked this place out recently, this is NOT MEXICAN! It's not even Tex-Mex.  It's hipster-Mex.  Yep.  That's right hipster-Mex!  We got there early on Friday happy hour & the line out the door.  We waited for like 30 mins.  My behbay got us a couple margaritas and these margaritas are suppose to be good for you here. Without high fruticose corn syrup in the mix.  The first ones were pretty sour even for me, like lime juice, liquor and ice.  I don't have any complaints about the sour lime I like it limy! Lol I asked about the mix that they use bc I couldn't taste any, the hostess tells me they make their own mix.  But she didn't know what or how.

 Then we finally get a table and what I thought was the hostess was actually our waitress.  I say this bc it's suppose to be a tequila bar, but the waitress was dressed as if she was going clubbing after hours with Lindsey Lohan in NYC! She was cute no doubt, but when you're a waitress I think u should rethink wearing a super tight  pencil skirt with lace up the back corset.  She was taking little geisha steps in those hugh high heels tip toeing around while the place was completely packed to the gills like Luke T said exactly! Like a can of sardines!  There was only one other waitress and she was dressed normal in flats & Jeans and a cute casual t-shirt and she was working her ass off bc our little chica waitress was dressed like lady Ga Ga and couldn't move very fast :(  we ordered the chips, salsa & guacamole, the fish tacos and hubby got the chicken tacos.  They have add lettuce tomato and sour cream for add .25. Not MEXICAN. Not even tex/mex.  Hipster-mex! The little tortillas weren't even heated or warned on the grill and everything we got was completely cold.  I have a feeling this had to do with our waitress's outfit and the back up in the kitchen.
 We ordered another round and it took forever.  I watched the chica bartender braid her hair and fidget with her hair for a good 10 mins while we just sat there waiting on the drinks.  When she finally did make them this time the margarita tasted like pure triple sec and hubby ordered a Paloma, Mexican grapefruit soda and tequila.  I don't know what happened but they were so bad we could hardly drink them and it was so busy I didn't complain.  We had ordered a shot as well and it came half full with a lime stuck on the rim.  I know this might look pretty but if I am to get only a half shot I only want to pay for a half shot! Shameful.  What a rip off and a disappointment.  I'm
like Luke T.  Why would I want to come here for a bunch of white people to serve me hipster-Mex and not even good hipster-Mex! Now I love club 185 and little palace
but I thought this place is reaching.  I didn't like anything about it actually. El Caminomore!

Here is the main reason I love: there are about 7 things on the menu and they are all done well. Don't care for something for everyone, ala Cheesecake Factory. I digress.

Started with guac, salsa and chips. They aren't free, but you pay for what you get. Crispy chips, great guac, free refills on chips and salsa.

Ordered: Barbaquoa el special taco. Served in little corn tortillas. Great balance between the meat, cheese, avocado.Tostada w chicken; chicken had so much flavor. Chicken was server recommended.

Coworkers ordered the gordita which looked killer.

Also, I'm a sucker for chalkboard menus (cocktails). Since it was work day lunch, missed imbibing a margarita. Next time!
