Cute bartenders in cute outfits, and absolutely wonderful old timey amazingly crafted cocktails. I have yet to come during HH, which seems like the way to go. I still tried at least 4 different drinks, because its impossible not to. Everything is so good and fun to try. Because these are fancy drinks, you will need to be patient however. It's mixology, okay! The inside reminded me of a bathroom though. Or maybe more like an ice cream parlor. I don't know why.

I miss Oldfields. I used to be a weekly regular because I worked in the area, but after I was uncerimoniously dumped by the company I have few reasons to go back out to Culver City. It was a place where one could order mixed drinks via concept, and enjoy them under low light, or on the small patio. Many a night I spent there nursing a drink, sitting on the patio, and enjoying the feel of nighttime in LA.

Ain't no day like Monday Funday! BC is a talented bartender with the ability to layer flavors like no other. Just tell him what you like...be descriptive and he'll create that exact flavor you've always wanted, but couldn't find.

Go ready to laugh, talk, and have the best damned drinks of your life!

Great mixed drinks and you can't beat a happy hour from 5pm - 9pm! Great vibe and setting as well. Management was really open to us having pizza delivered on premise as well. Great place.

    Monday Funday?   No.  Just no.

I walk in to a very vacant bar and stand at the counter.  After about 5 minutes, and two separate moments of eye contact, the bartender finally asks me what I'd like.

    "Can I see a menu?"
"It's Monday Funday, you choose a flavor profile and I'll make you a drink."
"Can I just see a menu?"
"What kind of drinks do you like?"
    "I'll take a beer."
"Okay, I got 3 drinks up, and then I'll get you your beer."

Meanwhile, the other bartender takes a shot behind the bar, and the bouncer is behind the bar drinking a stella.

At this point, I leave.  These dudes know that this bar isn't special, right?

stopped by on a whim after hearing about it from a friend.  this place turned out to be better than i imagined.  we went on a tuesday evening, and although only a few folks were there when we first got there at 7 ish, by the time we left at 8, it was pleasantly crowded.  classic cocktails in a old fashioned, inviting setting.  the bartender looked very serious about his endeavors, crafting each cocktail carefully.  happy hour is until 9 and includes a handful of delicious cocktails for $7.  my friend had a spicy jalepeno cocktail from the hh menu and i had the "old hemingway" for $12 -- both were delicious.  what a great neighborhood gem.  i'll be back - i just wish it were in my neighborhood!

I work in start-up land where you get to slave labor away with a smile on your face, until well past the time when that most magical, precious segment of time - HAPPY HOUR - has come and gone.  And let's face it, after a long work day, sometimes, the main thing you're concerned about on the way home is how to get the sweet buzz of oblivion going while also not drinking at home by yourself like a loser and maintaining some contact with the outside world to remind yourself that you are not, in fact, an e-mail answering zombie, but a REAL, living human being!

But $12 for a drink? AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FO' DAT.

Which is why I very much appreciate that Oldfield's has a happy hour that goes until 9. NINE! Um, in honor of the 9, I will bust out some 1999 lingo and say that is totally rad. Actually, I'm pretty sure "totally rad" goes way back, but, as an adorably lisp-y, painfully awkward Asian child in middle school, I had too little social interaction with my peers to know what the hell people were saying in 1999.

I disgress.  Regardless, this ain't some nasty, watered-down Smirnoff and tonic that you're getting either.  When you come to Oldfield's happy hour, you're getting a well-crafted cocktail with just enough creative flair to make you feel like a classy adult-type appreciating the art of mixology, instead of a big fat fake wearing a grown up costume trying to get chocolate wasted without all the other real grownups in the bar catching wind of your deceit. If you are one of those big fat fake types, though, Oldfield's makes their drinks with a good strong helping of that magic juice, which, come on, is preferable to the alternative.

I would say the only thing that can be problematic is that it can take a while to get your drinks but considering all the yummy accouterment they're putting in your drinks - bitters! fresh herbs! citrus peels! -  you should be appreciatin', not hatin'.  Plus, at 7$/pop?

    ERRBODY GOT TIME FO'  DAT!.

I like this place! As soon as you walk in you feel like you're stepping into someone's home to have a drink. They have happy hour and drinks are $7. You have to get the Amoxicillin! It's the perfect summer drink! So light and refreshing. I watched the bartender put it together and it's made with such craft and was well worth it. It was so good that I had it twice! On a Sunday afternoon, there was also $1 tacos right outside. I didn't get to try it since I had no cash on hand but it sure smelled and looked good. I would definitely be back here if I was in the area again!

There is no denying that the bartenders make great drinks; one of the best Old Fashions in town.  The problem is it takes 15 minutes to one round of drinks.  And if you even think about ordering a second round you might need a sleeping bag.  I can't figure out why they don't staff a second bartender.  All three times I have gone I have left with money in my hand because I wasn't willing to wait the extra 20 minutes for a second drink.  And keep in mind that each time I've gone there have only been 5-8 people there.

It's a shame because I could really go for an Old Fashion right now...

I came here and indulged in the happy hour with some friends who were visiting from out of town. The drinks here were hand-crafted and pretty good, super-reasonable at $7 each. The beautiful late afternoon California sun was beaming through most of the windows, casting very cool shadows before yielding to an intimate and dark, barely-lit space.

A cool thing about this bar is that there is a ton of flexible seating arrangements that I am just now thinking about -- remember those math problems in which you had to calculate the number of possible permutations given a certain number of variables and restrictions? If you're an aspiring puzzlemaster or A Beautiful Mind-Russell Crowe type whatever you should totally check this place out..

I had the Outlaw which was a spicy tequila-based drink, the Amoxicillin which is like a Penicillin but with rum instead of whiskey, and the hefeweizen which served as sort of a time-delay to prevent me from getting too inebriated on these delicious drinks.

Oh, I also had a whiskey sour. That was cool because I felt like I was drinking a protein shake.

At like 8 or 9 a food truck-stand appears next door, and it is freaking delicious.

Came here for my birthday and was in love with the place. Love the decor, the vibe, and the crowd. The bartender mixed me a special cocktail. Something that had mango in it and it was delish! I also love the Amoxcillin. The name alone made me want it and since bourbon is my liquor of choice, I had to try it. I was not disappointed, the flavor was sweet, strong and bold.

Wonderful neighborhood bar and never crowded when I've gone. Love their concoctions.. definitely has some spice. Love to walk over for a drink and the Bartenders are very friendly and entertaining.  Parking seems challenging but I don't bother with it because I just walk over.

I am very pleasantly surprised that I've yet to be disappointed by an establishment owned by the 1933 Group. Bravo guys! Oldfield's Liquor Room is no exception.

Without going into too many details, I'll talk about the important things. The drinks are great and are prepared by very knowledgeable bartenders. Anything your heart desires, really. The atmosphere is lively and fun with a good crowd. You can hear yourself think and even hear others speak to you. The back room is great for parties and the outside patio is perfect on a nice summer night.

Grab your guys and gals and come get some liquor!

Who in their right mind would serve happy hour until 9pm? This bar.  For $7 you get a delicious handcrafted libation from one of the many newspaper boy attired mixologists.    After 9, you decide if waiting in line for a $12 cocktail is worth it.  Some nights you're in the mood, some nights you want fast service and less of a crowd.  On the nights where you have the patience and found some ideal street parking, you'll enjoy sipping on these concoctions and listening to the DJ mix James Brown and Jackson 5.  Who knows, after the crowd shuffles out after happy, the sullen bartenders just might crack a smile and start to dance with you.

I love Oldfield Liquor Room. I went with a large group, and we had a great time. I had two of their happy hour drinks. The first was a lemony punch which was really sweet. The second was something called "Amoxiciliian" which was a ginger drink - it was so good.
The bartender was very nice, and helpful with our orders.
I liked the decor of the place - reminded me of an old fashioned ice cream parlor. Very lovely place to just hang out.
I had  a great time with my friends at Oldfields.

I love this place but be warned that it's pretty loud inside and hard to talk to friends while here. The music though makes up for it (old school jams everyone knows) and the place is super cute and has a fun vibe. The cocktails are great here and the tall hip bouncer is even greater and fun to talk to. You'll know who I'm talking about when you go!

    Check it
Girlfriend is a Major F. Scott Fitzgerald fan, wrote a paper about him in college, she even gots a autographed copy of, "Tender Is The Night" n' shit.
Seein' the new Gatsby movie was a must whether I wanted to or not, whether she could handle it or not. After that entertainment in the city of "Endless Entertainment" we hit a bar to get our drink on. Fitzgerald would approve, right? He was a drinker. So the girlfriend tells me about this bar, Oldfields Liquor Room where they're have like $7 dollar GG inspired cocktails with your ticket tub, so we go. The cocktail was a Bees Knees; it was a fine drink, I sipped on mine and moved on to a stiffer deal not on the menu but the girlfriend had two. They have an interesting cocktail list, no slouch with the craftiness.
The bar is a pretty one, real old school, small but nice. I don't take picture so just look at other people's. Tha bartender's were typical bartenders sometimes nice and sometimes in their own world.
After leaving I wanted to go find a Mansion party to crash.

    Good whiskey sour.

Why would I drive to downtown to go a bar, when I can chill in a neighborhood bar for the price of downtown. Crowds are much less pretentious than people in pier or downtown. This is a solid bar on Venice blvd. Parking is a little tricky, but I always park at a small mall next to this bar. It's after the business hour, so I hope that means it's ok(I never had an issue so far).

As an Absinthe connoisseur, Oldfields has the most varieties of quality Absinthe.  The other libations are handmade by skilled bartenders who are more like a chef/scientist hybrid. If your cocktail calls for fruit, they blend with real, actual fruit- not a fake fruit syrup mixture. Authentic drinks and turn of the century interior.

But please, Oldfields, play older music again. It fits the decor and charm, even on a busy weekend night.  Hemingway would've hated hip hop.

Sometimes it takes a couple drinks before you really get into it.

Your date, a bar, a party. You know. But that shouldn't be the case. Never settle.

A mixed crowd of suits, trendsetters, and a casual crew kicking it on the front porch.

A loud mash up of tunes including a fun slew of hip hop from early 2000's. Not the background you'd expect in a Speakeasy-style joint, but all the better.

The first round were winners. The barkeeps in their thick-rimmed specs and suspenders and the boozy concoctions they handed over. If you don't like the more unique menu offerings, check the wall for all the classics, sorted by style. Something for everyone.

A rye-based, spicy, nutty Oakshade was a hit. The Kappa (pisco) punch was good, if a tad heavy on the citrus. The second round of a classic old fashioned and a mojito were letdowns. A third round might have helped me forget about it, but I knew the valet wasn't going to drive me home.

Omg... this place! I have a lot of good things to say!

First, the drinks are perfection! You can tell that they really care about what they are producing and spend a lot of time making sure each one is perfect.

Second, the happy hour! It goes until 9pm and on CycLAvia it goes ALL DAY! Great crowds and a lot of fun.

Third, ambiance! It really feels like you are in some secret speakeasy, and the crowd seems young and hip.

Drawbacks... no food... which is hard when you are drinking strong drinks like the ones they serve up. Additionally, with so much time and care on each drink, it can take awhile to just get one. They need to have more bartenders because on one weeknight they just had one and a barback... it took forever.

I went here on a Thursday night.

This place was really classy looking...it would have been classy feeling too if they played better music. I would like to come here and hear some jazz or big band or blues...they were playing some awful rap at the time.

The drink selection was awesome..all kinds of fun interesting cocktails. I had a hard time choosing my poison. What I eventually got, I don't remember, but it was very summery tasting and really pretty...plus it did the trick.

The staff were well dressed and friendly-not afraid to smile.

Parking is available on the street, and not too much of an issue. You can also choose to valet.

I didn't have a problem finding the bathroom, nor did I have to wait in line.

I will absolutely come back! Plus it's walking distance from other bars so the area makes for a good night out.

Came here for happy hour on a Wednesday night with a group of friends. We got there around 6PM and it was nice and relaxed but it did get busier and more festive as the night went on. They no longer serve food here, but the bartenders are super nice and let you bring food in! My friends walked down to Venice Bakery (right next to Bigfoot West) and brought back empanadas, tacos, and burritos. Our other friends actually got Papa John's delivered to the bar! Great vibe, and nice people. Definitely recommend.

Ok first of all i must say that i recently moved in the area from Europe, so in my research for a great spot with great cocktails i came across Oldfields almost by accident, and was love at first sight.
Can't say enough positive things about this place, is my sat-late-night getaway, when i really want a cocktail the way it SHOULD be done, i just order a Blonde Comet or the classic Outlaw...
Cool people hanging around here which is a huge plus; not to mention the decor and classic and european oriented style.
There's parking in the area, so u dont really need to spend money on the Valet.

I recently visited Austria and experienced the pleasure of drinking on public transportation. I remember feeling quite the lawbreaker as I sat waiting for the train and and taking secretive gulps from my tallboy, till a friend told me it was no biggie. They've got it good out there.

Oldfield's is the closest you'll get to out west to legally drinking on the subway. Despite the dimmed lights you feel like a commuter could come busting through the wall; it's all wide tiles, open space and wooden chairs so there's not much of a relaxing feel.

And unlike European public transpo with it's swift service and spot-on timetables, there's nothing timely about the service here. It takes an eternity to get a beverage. I know they do the mixologist hullaballoo, and I'm a pretty patient gal in general, but good god this place has a reputation for the slowest service on the Westside.

The servers are lacking in personality, and the cocktails cost in dollars pretty much the amount of minutes it'll take for them to make it for you. If there's more than 5 people in the bar you might as well mosey down to Bigfoot, just a couple blocks down.

This place is more open now than when it was S&S, but seems smaller. It's pretty on trend as far as theme and decor, so it's nice enough. The bathrooms still aren't accessible, just FYI.

Drinks are good, the martinis are nice and clean. Thursday night was busy but not ridiculous- a nice place to meet for a few.

Don't bother with valet- there's plenty of parking, and for the more adventurous, a bus stop right outside the door.

    Hey look --
As someone who has savored the best dive bars and late night haunts for 20 years in LA -- it's always a great surprise to find a new watering hole. Must say - this caught me off guard - never heard of it until my buddy Steve suggested we meet after work at Oldfields. Look - if you appreciate Chez J,,The Mint, The lounge at the Biltmore Hotel downtown - or Seven Grand --- you're going to love this place. The guy next to me - said - "it used to be a pool hall back in the 30's" and then suggeted the Outlaw cocktail. Two Outlaw's later -- I realized that I have a knew favorite hang in Culver City!  Very cool place and good service. Definitely check it out. And there was this blond at the bar.....but that's another story.

OK, so been here twice with the same friend.

This is a vintage-type place, almost like a throwback to the speakeasies.

They serve hand crafted specialty cocktails. Lots of old-time recipes plus their own creations. I tried the Indy Stutz (at first I thought it read Indy Slutz and got all excited....) which was pretty good.

My friend asked the bartender to make him a cocktail with Pisco and egg white and he fell in love with it. Quite good and frothy and yummy.

The interior is dark, the clientele mostly younger.

I tried Oldfields last night for the first time for a friend's birthday. They reserved the backroom which was a perfect location for a group of friends to gather and have a few drinks to celebrate.  The room has booth seating against one wall, and then small tables and chairs.  It was a snug fit, but encouraged wandering and mingling.

I appreciated that the Happy Hour menu went until 9pm!  The drinks were $7, compared to the average $12 regular priced drink.  Both drinks I got off the happy hour menu were good, but not GREAT. The regular priced drinks that people around me were getting looked much better.

My only "complaint" about Oldfields is that there was only one bartender, and I waited over 10 minutes each time I went to get one drink.  Because the drinks are made from scratch, they take a while to make. It would have been nice to have a second bartender so the drinks could be made a bit more efficiently and I could get back to mingling sooner.

The good news is that after only two drinks, I was sufficiently drunk, so they were well worth the wait!  I would definitely come back here.

Parking is stree parking, with no option of valet, and can be tricky.

Remember the windowless, seedy spot on Venice called Saints and Sinners? You know, the place where good decisions went to die? Yeah, neither do I. The location has been completely transformed into Oldfield's Liquor Room, one of the most adorable bars I've been to.
If you like old-timey decor, cleverly named cocktails and suspenders, this is the place for you. I was borderline mortified when, after ordering a Vanderbilt Cup, the bartender handed me a foot tall concoction of Hendrick's Gin, Port Wine Reduction,
St. Germain, Peach Bitters, Ginger Beer and what must have been snow cone ice. The stares from other bar goers sipping their puny Manhattans were totally worth it, the cocktail (although difficult to hold) was delicious. The vibe is very low-key, the location is convenient and the happy hour is a deal.

Headed here to meet up with some people. The place was pretty crowded for a Wednesday night. Drinks took about 20 minutes to order as there was only one bartender present. In fact, as we waited to order, that bartender seemed to be the only employee on the premise. Later, we saw 2 other guys behind the bar, helping with cleaning and other things.

Although there was only one bartender and there was a wait to order, each drink was still made with such precision and focus. When we went, Happy Hour was until 9PM and the drink I ordered was quite tasty. I would have definitely ordered another, but I didn't feel like waiting again.

This is a pretty chill place...lots of tables and chairs. Apparently they have food for you to order as well but the night we were there, they said we could bring in food from an outside place since they didn't have any food.

I think I've found my go-to hangout bar...

I loved this place. Great decor, great vibe... a bit loud, though. The drinks ran $12 but 1.5 Old Fashioneds got me somewhere between tipsy and drunk- not to mention they were delicious. The bartender was funny and knowledgeable. Parking was difficult, but if you're drinking an Old Fashioned, you probably shouldn't be driving anyway.

    Two thumbs up.

I'm usually a beer drinker when I go out with friends to drink. im a simple man and beer is my drink. However, when i'm your at Oldfields you HAVE to get some of there tasty, unique and potent cocktails! My personal favorite is the Outlaw with the Indie Stutz a close second.

A GREAT place to come with a group of friends. Obviously because its a fun place but more importantly they have HUGE punch bowls that serve 8 people.... again, as tasty as they are strong! A must visit in the Culver City/West LA area.

I feel like the speak-easy/mixologists bar is being overdone lately... (Big Foot, Copa d'Oro, Wellesbourne, etc) and this one isn't my favorite of this type. The decor and ambiance don't quite match the feel they're going for with the name and drink menu. Definitely a sight hipster vibe, but too crowded and I wasn't a fan of the music last Friday Night. Plus the DJ almost ran me down as she tried to make it back from her cigarette break on the patio in time to change the song. The patio also has a weirdly uneven floor that can be treacherous if you're in heels or, you know, just bad at walking. The tables and chairs and barstools are also laid out in a way that makes it practically impossible for people to walk around without hitting you.

My Old Fashioned was well-mixed with a heavy pour, but it was still $12 and not even made with one of my preferred mid-shelf whiskeys.

$5 valet for them to park my car in the lot 10 ft away, which is annoying.

I would come back if another friend had their birthday here, but I probably wouldn't just go for the sake of going on a Fri/Sat night.

A great neighborhood place. Not really around much, but walking distance to some great restaurants in Culver City.

The place has a classic, old-timey feel to it. Bartenders are knowledgeable and they carry a great selection of beers, spirits, and cocktails.

Atmosphere and drinks are what make this place great. Prices are decent. A great place to hang out with friends at over the weekend, especially if you're trying to avoid the high-traffic areas of LA.

I love speakeasy's and drinks made well. They're hard to find.

I've been meaning to try this place for a while and am so glad I finally did. The bf and I  visited the spot with a few friends, to celebrate our friend's new boutique opening in Culver City.  Oldfields is quaint. Not big by any means, but on a Saturday night, it wasn't too crowded, which was nice.

I tend to be indecisive and couldn't decide between 3 drinks... lucky for me the bartenders are nice and the bartender offered to "surprise me" with the drink made for me. I was more than pleasantly surprised and really LOVED my drink, the Vanderbilt Cup. Would be happy to return to Oldfields for this drink again.

I also tried a few other drinks that were pretty solid:
    - old fashioned
    - oldfield's hemmingway
    - dauntless

The bf ordered willet rye whiskey which is one of his favs. Overall easygoing spot for good drinks. Looking forward to returning. Parking is a bit hard to find in this area though.
