Hmm... where to begin...
This should really be a zero star review, but Yelp is too kind to the undeserving.
So I used to go here all the time when it was Omega. Like any other diner (Dapper's, Dmitri's, Emma's), the menu selection was abundant and the service was decent. Some are 24 hours, some are now.
Enter the new management/name...
I went here on Mother's Day and the place wasn't too packed so I figured the service wouldn't be too bad. At the time I pulled in, I didn't notice this was no longer an Omega. When we walked in, the manager warned us that there would be a long wait because the kitchen was backed up. Really? Do you tell someone not to frequent your auto repair shop because there was a small accident in the mechanic bay?
So we decided that we would give it a try, since everything else would be crowded. Upon seating down, we didn't get any coffee or water for about 10 minutes. Finally one of the bus boys rescued us and took our drink order. After he went to get the coffee, the waitress came by and asked what we wanted to drink. Out of courtesy we mentioned that someone already took our drink order, but the waitress snapped back "we'll I'm here with coffee NOW, so do you want some coffee/" WTF, I should have walked out at that point, but I was in a laid back mood and ignored her.
Then comes the kicker: The menu for Mother's Day only had a handful of items on it. That's right, for Mother's Day, there were no extra cooks on staff, the menu was shortened to a 4x6 card instead of a 10 page menu, and the kitchen was still backed up.
The food sucked here and honestly the only good points I can remember are easy parking and clean dining area. Otherwise, not worth the trouble when there are so many other options.
I have passed Omega countless times, and have always wondered about it. Truthfully it always looked kinda shady to me, but I heard good things about it more than once. So on a Friday night I decided to finally bite the bullet and try this place. I mean it can't be that bad, and i've heard raves about it!
So the Friday before St. Patrick's day we pull up to this place. We were creepers and kinda drove past slow and didn't see anyone in the place. Err maybe we shouldn't? Wait look! The back of the restaurant is packed! This place is awesome I knew it. We parked and were hoping to get a table in the place is was so hoppin' then a lady passed us coming out "whatever you do DON'T get the corned beef." Were were kinda taken aback but ok. Luckily I'm not a fan so I blindly walked in the place. It's dead. Completely. There are a total of 3 other people and the crowd we saw? Apparently a banquet event thing. So we get seated and the nicest waiter ever comes over. Poor kid he has no idea. We decide on an omelet and waffle to split to get to know the fare...since nothing else really caught our eye on the menu. Plus there's no way I'm trying the corned beef. Â
The food takes a little long considering no one is there, but that's ok I wasn't in a hurry. The coffee for one tasted like acidic mud. The friendly waiter always kept an eye on the level which normally is a good thing. We get the food and it looks great! Â Except that the first bite...grab the salt shaker, nope grab the pepper...nope. It's bland and blah. We trudge through. The waiter again though nicest kid ever! I feel bad he could be making money elsewhere on a Friday night. Run, run! After we ate we vowed to never come back. I mean I usually will give a place at least 2 chances but this was bad. Plus the rest of the night we felt nauseous and couldn't get the bitter burnt coffee taste out. Not pleasant. I'm sorry Omega, I wanted to like you but I should have listened to the warning on the way in.
I have been here a few times and have never been fully impressed. Service has never been stellar, but when I was there on Saturday, the server just gave the vibe that she utterly hated her job and could care less about being there. The food was not as good as it normally is. Will probably choose somewhere else next time I was to go for breakfast.
