Retired fireman on the left, retired CPD on the right.
Now carrying Revolution Brewery creations or just a cold brew da kind your pops yells for you to grab..its here.
Its a corner bar on the not so corner just south of Elston located on Milwaukee, so use your gps if you get lost.
upstairs has another bar and can be rented out for your annual briss or ball banging events.
good local times!
Came here on a monday night, with my friend carla and her other friend and it was a good time, It's a neighborhood bar, seemed like half of the people who were in there worked there and hangout there on their time off. Dave was the bartender, i was happy to see this place had woodchuck cider on tap and it was 4 bucks.
Review Source:Another Northwest side original. If you enjoy your bars divey and drink prices on the down low, you really can't go wrong hauling you and your own to The Original Dugan's. Located in Norwood Park, take a trip up Milwaukee Ave. to find this awesome dive. You'll find plenty of $2 beer, northwest side roughnecks and plenty of cops to make sure order is kept.
Darts. Did I mention The Original Dugan's has darts? There were about two cork dartboards downstairs, on the upstairs there were another three or four dartboards and plenty of room to sit and shoot darts unimpeded. One board has an electronic scorer and there is plenty of light to make sure you get good practice in. If I lived closer, I would be in Dugan's all the time!
One of my favorite bars to relax in. No question that this is a dive, but with local cops, fireman, and combat vets drinking there it is the safest environment to hang out in. My sister loves this place because she feels safe and always gets hooked up with drinks lol.
Pros: supports the troops and wounded heroes foundation, has a dart board, awesome place to watch sports games, Popcorn Machine!
Cons: dive bar feel-small inside, only 1metal dart board
went for a friend's bday party. it was my first time. it's a local bar they go to all the time and it's close to where most of them live. the bartender is really cool and the drinks are cheap.
music was random. there was a jukebox goin, but it'd be quiet for a couple mins after the songs; made for a good awkward silence. an odd mix of tunes otherwise. it definitely feels like your buddy's cramped, damp and dirty basement, but that didn't stop us from having a good time.
oridinarily i wouldn't voluntarily go to dugan's. i've definitely experienced better and i'm a little on the fence about +1 star, but i wouldn't really want to come back.
It is what it is. It makes no excuses for being a divey mess. Kids who looked as if they were going out drinking with their parents (a time honored tradition in places like where I grew up) and people as old as your grandpa singing the words to 'I Got a Feelin' by the Black Eyed Peas. The next song will be 'Fly me to the Moon' by Frank Sinatra. Yep, so predictable.
Blue collar all the way. Cops. Plumbers. Construction workers. That guy that installed your granite, he probably lives about a mile away in Park Ridge, yep he is here to with his Ma and his 21 year old.
They do have a food buffet in the back and free popcorn...naturally the drinks are dirt cheap. The bartenders really take care of you. No pretention here so don't ask for something special like an old fashioned. Â You won't get it.
Dugan's is BY FAR the shittiest bar on earth. Every single night you can count on being one of the only patrons in there, but the prices are cheap, the bartenders are excellent and will pour you a 50/50 drink instead of those watered down shits that some bars will serve you. Look for Art and tell him Kevin sent you. He might just punch you in the face or shake your hand. He's a wacky character.
Good drinks, easy going atmosphere, and no stupid brocore assholes to bother you. I'd say it's the perfect bar if I didn't know any better...
