went for the early bird and was very disappointed. the bread was small, cold and hard. the was no offer for seconds. the salad was just lettuce, nothing else. the main course  portions were VERY small & overcooked. the desserts were not good, and shamefully small. Nothing had great flavor. The service was not great either. Would never go back.

I will go back...will change my review if I see improvement...the three stars are for the food and service, our waitress was a sweetheart, young girl, long blonde hair, very nice...the food was very good, escargot appetizer very good, ossobuco & linguine with clam sauce very tasty, menu was dirty and it's so disgusting to open a menu and have someone else's tomato sauce and oil on it....our bread had little tiny aunts walking around it...I'm assuming the bread gets left outside in a bag or box and little aunts manage to get in....my margarita glass was dirty but I managed...when I ordered my second margarita my glass was also dirty and I told the waitress who was very apologetic and got me a new one...when we first sat, bus boy came over with water but we told him we didn't want any so he was nice and walked away, never took the water glasses away and when some waiter (Hispanic looking, no hair bald)came over to fill the glasses with water we told him that someone already came and we said no, that's when this new bus boy (young American kid) was walking by and this waiter started yelling at him for not taking the water glasses away...I hate when help gets yelled at in public so I made it clear to that "bossy waiter" that it wasn't him that tried to serve us water...such a nice place but it needs a lot of fixing...

Well after ordering food last night I had to change it to 2 stars because they totally messed up our order...stacked all the food in a bag, all containers were leaking, they gave us more than what we ordered and charged more of course, forgot our salads, one girl called us back and said "your husband forgot his salads"  well if someone would have handed over the salads to my husband, he would have not forgotten his salads...food was ok, I don't think we'll be going back!

There are very few restaurants that genuinely make you smile. I made my first visit here after a friend recommended it and though I don't typically like Italian food (too heavy for my stomach), I gave it a shot. The moment we walked in we were greeted by a very nice woman who immediately seated us. They were fairly busy but you didn't get the sense of panic you typically see at restaurants when they have a full house. She made recommendations and within a few minutes our waitress was there to help us. The menu selection is large but not overwhelming and there weren't any redundancies. Price-wise, everything was within reach and few things really exceeded what you would expect.
The food was excellent and there wasn't a rush to quickly getting out your meal (I'm a slow eater so that's important to me). Price wise, the portions were very generous and the pasta's weren't under nor over cooked. I had a soup, salad, entree and dessert which easily filled me up more than needed and I found myself taking bits and pieces home.
    * Get either the mousse or the hazelnut dessert, both are fantastic! *
What was nice was that the atmosphere was soothing and light, you could converse with people without shouting and people were talking rather than sitting silently.
Overall, I like these family run restaurants over the chain styled ones, they each offer better quality and a better more homestyle feel, which given the state of the economy, has been becoming more and more sparse. I definitely recommend since there is something for everyone and the food and service was excellent!
Full disclosure: The only reason I'm not giving it a five star is because in doing that, I'm saying there's never going to be anything better that you will ever find... ever. So, naturally the fall back is a four, but this place is definitely something to add to your list of restaurants the next time you want to try someplace new.

We went here a couple of weeks after the restaurant opened.  One big problem is they do not accept reservations for parties under 6.  There are not that many tables, so, you can wind up waiting for quite a while for a table.  I saw many people walk out when they heard they would have to way 40 minutes.

The first time we ate here, I ordered the Osso Buco.  I love it and get it every time I can.  I would not say I am a Osso Buco gourmand, but, I know good Osso Buco.  So, the first time it was really good, but, a very small portion.  The second time, I ordered it again and mentioned to the waitress that I thought it was a small portion.  This time, the portion seemed even a bit smaller, and, it was not prepared as well. Not only that, it was over a huge portion of risotto, and I mean huge.  So, a small portion of meat and more risotto than I (a big eater) could even finish.  For an appetizer, I ordered a special, grilled artichoke hearts.  The portion was two medium sized artichoke hearts for $8.95.

The wine list, especially for wines by the glass is pretty decent.  The first time we were there, the waitress was fast and efficient.  The last time, the waitress was slow, had too many tables to take care of.

There was a slender gentleman walking around.  I do not know if he was the owner or host.  But, you never saw this guy smile, he didn't go over to any tables to greet people or ask how their meal was, unless he seemed to know them.  He was kind of unfriendly and not outgoing.

The first time I was there, they place was crowded.  This past week, not at all, we got seated right away and there were plenty of empty tables.  My prediction, unless they do some fast paced changes, they are not going to make it.  I do not like to say things like this, but that is how I feel.

Also, the acoustics are terrible, the place is very noisy; in fact, at time you cannot hear someone at your own table.

Disappointing. Nicely redone decor from Cafe Capri but brown plastic tablecloths very tacky. Better to have white cloth with paper toppers if necessary. Cheap salad bowls and diner type servers do not warrant prices.  Food is Ok  but can get much larger portions at a diner with comparable taste and bring home enough for another meal. Bread was dry and ordinary and orange dipping oil was flavorless.  Vodka  for $9 in a cracked glass and full of ice was not worth it. We like good dining and are willing to pay but not here....would rather go to a diner instead of here.  They need something special to have return diners with so many good Italian restaurants in north Jersey.   We will not return.

I've been waiting for them to open, so I went Friday night, very nice ambiance, the owner as well as everyone else treated us wonderfully. We had the artichoke for an appetizer and  the surf and turf special for the main meal it was great.. My wife had to try the Osso Buco which she loved. I will definitely return soon.

Just happened across the restaurant while out in search of dinner.  I travel for a living and dine out 4-6 days a week.  I had no idea that the restaurant was new because everything just ran well.  Service was excellent, staff was friendly and attentive.  We shared Chicken Parm which was excellent and the red sauce was thick and flavorful.  I brought the left overs for lunch!
I took a menu with me and shared it at the hospital I'm working at so others can go and enjoy the fantastic place.  I also plan to be back in the area with a group of colleagues and we're planning a team dinner for 20 there.  I look forward to it.

Had the opportunity to dine last evening at Osso Buco and had a wonderful experience. First I would like to respond to the post by Carl. We had a reservation for 7 people for 6 pm and 2 of our party were late arriving. Everyone at the restaurant couldn't have been more gracious and understanding.

As a Hillsdale resident I was never a fan of the Cafe Capri and had always hoped that a better restaurant would one day occupy the building.

Everyone in our party had the same idea and we ordered the basics of an Italian restaurant. Spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parm, eggplant parm, penne vodka and rigatoni bolognese. We all enjoyed our meals and the family style salad that comes with the dinner.

The service was excellent and what has been done to the decor of the restaurant is wonderful.

I look forward to enjoying many more evenings at Osso Buco Grill.

Restaurant just had their grand opening last week.  I am a Hillsdale resident who has been waiting in anticipation for this restaurant to open since the vacant Cafe Capri was a total eyesore.   Anyway, just got off the phone after trying to make a reservation for a party of 4.  The woman who answered told me there is a 5 person minimum, then told me she would make an exception, then put me on hold for a couple of minutes, then came back and recanted.  Told me basically tough luck.  I can't imagine how my party of 4 who would have purchased 4 apps, 4 entrees, 4 desserts, 4 espressos and most likely 2 bottles of wine could be brushed off.  Too bad... I'll never know how the food was.
