Holy carp, has this place gone downhill, just in the past month or so! Â All three of my last three orders have been wrong. Â
The first one was just barely on time against the hour estimate (technically two minutes late, but I'm not that person... unless you screw up again) and the driver forgot THE thing that made the artisan pizza an artisan pizza: the arugula. Â Then I had to sit there and wait 20 minutes for the arugula to show up, while the pizza sat in my oven, getting sadder and sadder. Â
I contacted Panino's and was given a credit on my account. Â So I tried it again. This time, while they delivered quickly, they brought Coke instead of Diet Coke (and the receipt said regular, so it wasn't the driver's fault). I was disappointed, but it could have been my fault, I suppose, for not asking them to read back my order. Â But, should I have to do that?!
So, because it may have been my fault, I tried them again. Â Tonight, my pizza arrived 12 minutes late against an hour promise. Â And, while this time the receipt said Diet Coke, the driver didn't have it, and it wasn't even in the car. Â I was so disappointed and angry that I sent the driver away with the order. Â I called Panino's to let them know, and I got apologies. Â I'm sure the owner or whomever will contact me again, but am I expected to subject myself to the "What's going to be wrong this time" game again?
I hope for the business's sake they get their act together. Â I LOVED the artisan pizzas, everything was yummy (except the mozzarella sticks, which are sad), and they always delivered in half the promise time or less (I'm a mile straight down NW Hwy). Â
But I can't deal with this repeated quality issue. Â If you don't care what you get, when you get it, then give them a whirl.
UPDATE: I just received an e-mail from someone at Panino's (don't know if it was the "Gino" who signed the prior note, because this was unsigned). Â I replied to the e-mail where they notified me of the credit for the first problem, so they might understand why I was so upset. Â
Not remotely handled professionally. Â Here's the e-mail (starting with what I wrote, so you can see exactly what he was responding to. Â

I placed my second order since this issue, and it was 12 minutes late (on an hour promise) and the driver didn't have the Diet Coke in my order. Â I sent her back with it and called the store to tell you I'd done so. Â
You have a serious quality control issue. Â

First of all , food was delivered on time, and you shouldnt send back food just because you didnt recieve your "FREE" coke , our driver [redacted] Â told you she would bring it to you. Do what you want with this information. Â And remember that I'd ordered from them for a NUMBER of years.
A co-worker and I go to Panino's at least once a week and love this place:) Â The owner is the best and she is so sweet to every customer that comes through the door. Â She make everyone feel welcome. Â
The cream of chicken soup is to die for as is the thin crust pizza. Â Wish I lived closer but I guess I'll have to made due with lunch.
Ordered cheesy beef and bosco sticks, both were perfect. I'm big on italian beefs and this one is definitely up there.
I placed the order for delivery through grubhub and received my food in less than 30min(I'm about a mile away). Pretty much every place I order from takes an hour but I was very surprised at the speed. Also the food was very hot and fresh.
A hidden gem. For reals. Probably some of the best pizza crust I've had in a while. A little chew, a few burnt spots. A real winner. I felt the quality of the toppings were decent but not great. With a few tweaks, this pizza could go from a really good neighborhood spot to gourmet.
We had the calamari which was decent. Cooked well. I would probably skip this to make room for more pizza next time. The lasagna pizza with meatballs and ricotta was good but a tad bland. Great crust though, like I mentioned before.
The Navona pizza with potato, bacon, onion, and cream was a winner from a taste standpoint. The only issues I had was that the cream, while tasty, was a bit heavy handed and make the crust soggy. The potatoes also seemed to be french fries. Really enjoyed it though.
Overall, We'd definitely come back. Great crust and the service was great too.
Came here kinda on a whim. Â Their pizza is definitely pretty good- with a few tweaks this pizza would be awesome!!
First off, it's kinda hidden in a street behind the tracks. I kinda like that- parking is plentiful and easy. When we got there on a Wed. night during prime dinner time, we were the only ones there. We got the calamari app and 2 pizzas, the lasagna and the navona, both neopolitan style. Â
The calamari was cooked well and not over done, but the marinara sauce was a bit blandish. The crusts on the pizza are what they were supposed to be... super thin, bubbled up, chewy and burnt around some of the edges... yum!! The quality of the ingredients however, were pretty standard I would say. If they used more quality cheeses (which the parmesan that you have to ask for that they keep behind the counter is def yum) and more quality meats/toppings, this place would definitely be a no-miss kinda place. Â The lasagna pizza was pretty good, but you needed to have a little extra oomph to it, and the parmesan helped. The navona pizza, which is a creamy bacon/potato/onion concoction, turned out to be tasty but the texture was a little odd. The cream was super thin, so the middle of the pizza was soggy as heck, the bacon wasn't crispy and the potatoes turned out to be fries. Overall it tasted better than the lasagna I think, but that recipe needs to be fixed in order to not have such a runny pie.
Overall I'm glad that we stopped by, it's definitely the closest thing we have in our neighborhood to neopolitan style pizzas and actually better than some of the places that claim to have that style pizza in the city. Hopefully they will perfect their pizzas just a tad and if so, we will be here often!!
Absolutely loved this place. We went in for lunch on a Wednesday and ordered a thin crust Margherita and it was delicious. We wanted to try the Artisan Pizza but they only serve it after a certain hour. Booo! Other than that I think the service was great and the prices were fair. The server could not be more attentive to us. Next time I'll stop by after 4:00 pm so that I can try the Artisan Pizza.
Review Source:Very very good.
Their Pizza is excellent, for me it's the best that delivers to my house on the northwestern tip of Chicago. Â Which is saying something considering the area is pretty saturated with non-chain competent pizza joints.
Yet, their entree's hold their own. Â Their pasta sauce (gravy) is above average, and gets the seal of approval of my neighbor, who happens to be a very discerning italian cook (who makes great sauce in her own right). Â Egg Plant Parm and the Saltimboca are my go to's when I'm not in the mood for pizza. Â The bread they bake in house is great too, it's not hard crust artisan per se, but it's great for sopping (I think it's a variation on their pizza crust actually).
As far as the service, I've always had good results, no complaints there.
I just had the most incredibly AMAZING pizza ever from this place! I want to scream it to the world!
I had a Sicilian Deep Dish w/Gorgonzola, Fresh Garlic, and Sausage. It was HEAVENLY.
The flavors were so perfect together!! The crust was fluffy and DELICIOUS as hell. I am definitely ordering this again.
I think this was even better than Lou Malnatis, although I do love Lou's as well.
I just think this flavor combination along with their sauce and crust is to die for. Say it with me: "Sicilian Deep Dish w/Gorgonzola, Fresh Garlic, and Sausage."
The pros:
Panino's food was very good. The fried mozzarella was fantastic, and my main dish was a huge portion of rigatoni, sausage, mushrooms and peas in a tomato cream sauce. Yummy.
Our waiter was incredibly friendly and personable. I like that in a waiter. Â I'd go back just to see him. The rest of the service was also very friendly.
It's off the beaten path (so it's not overly crowded) and you can tell it's a well-run family-owned establishment.
The cons:
We had to wait way too long for our food. We came in Halloween night, when there were literally no other people in there, and it took an hour to get our food. With a tired 2-year-old, that was brutal. We finally had to leave mid-meal, drive a half-hour home and eat the rest at home. Major bummer.
No fountain soda. I'm sorry, but I really dislike restaurants that don't have fountain soda. I always feel compelled to drink just one can, or know I have to pay for another. What can I say? I'm a midwesterner, and I like my soda all-you-can-drink for $2.50.
Prices were a bit higher than I wanted to pay on a run-of-the mill Monday night.
This place makes my 4 ur old and her foodie parents happy! We have had all of their styles of pizzas...love their Italian style pizzas and their Sicilian style as well. Our favorite is definitely the grilled seafood appetizer! My daughter loves their pasta. Friendly service and the food never disappoints. Our new family favorite place.
Review Source:Was able to stop in for dinner and was surprised at how small the place was as my prior experience has been with their HUGE to go menu.
Dinner was ribs, baked potato and cream chix soup. Â The bowl of soup that comes with dinner is easily a lunch on its own w/ bread, very tasty, fresh soup - that for a cream soup - was not pasty or gloopy (not real word?).
The half slab ribs were a better experience than a recent "BBQ" place I recently reviewed (which thankfully didnt sour me on trying  ribs elsewhere).  Partner at eggplant parm and said it was the best ever had and broccoli cheddar soup phenomenal!
I work nearby so may get to check out the lunch menu.
Be forewarned if you're a customer that has ordered to go, their dine in dinner menu is much smaller!
My favorite pizza place, imagine my delight when I moved to Park Ridge from Evanston and discovered there was a Panino's in Park Ridge! Â Nice location and incredibly friendly staff! Â I hope more people discover this place.
My favorite thin crust pizza around, but try the new Artesian pizzas for a more authentic Italian style pizza. Â They're available for dine-in or carryout only. Â I promise, you will not be disappointed!
I don't know where these other people have been eating their Italian food, but I would in no way say that about this place. There are plenty of great italian places in the Park Ridge/Edison Park area that I would more quickly trust for good italian than this place...
HOWEVER, their sandwiches and salads are delicious and their pizza's A-Okay. Thus far, I've had their Greek Salad, Candied Walnut Salad, and a few others, as well as a few of their sandwiches including the Grilled Chicken sandwich that compelled me to finally write a review. Hands down, best salads and sandwiches in town. I work in the area and their are over 20 resturants in walking distance, and given the amount of lunches and dinners I've had in the passed two years working here, I've tried them all.
For a good salad I definitely go to Panino's. Best salads I've ever had? Prob not, BUT they're up there for a quick bite kind of place.
I think the only REAL complaint or concern that I have with this place is their menu. It's enormous. SO enormous, in fact, that they can't POSSIBLY have all of the ingredients (fresh at least) in their kitchen. For instance, the pizza, salads, sandwiches, they prob have the typical Italian setup, and that part is DEFINITELY working for them. The burger, gyro, burrito, pot roast sanwiches on the other hand...? how many people are really ordering this stuff to keep it fresh? Â ON top of all that they have the Dinner Entres which includes a ton of BBQ stuff and then ON TOP OF THAT all their pasta dishes....and SEAFOOD dishes..... I have only had one or two of their pasta dishes, and I was definitely unimpressed. It was kind of bland or "stock" to me.
I think this place is great over all, but I don't think I'll be going their any time soon for a great Italian dinner. I used to enjoy their pizza a lot more too before one of their current (and my former) employees told me about their High butter-fat cheese for their pizzas...I know a lot of cheaper pizza places do this...but I definitely didn't need ot know about it.
