Bouncers....They need to learn and understand the descriptions when it comes to "baggy jeans" for the guys. I understand if they do complain about guys folding up their jean or whatnot but they shouldn't be such assholes if the jean are fitted and not touching the ground or even near the ground.
Review Source:Ok so I've been to the Park many many times through out the past years. Â Usually on a guest list or VIP booth. and for the most part always had a good time. Guest list lines are usually separate from the people that are not on the list. Well last night 7/19/2013 was all bad. We got put in the same line as the regular people waiting to get in, and that's another thing, I love how they make people WAIT outside for no reason, just to make the club look like its packed and crackin, when there's always plenty of room inside...ALWAYS!! Â Anyways music is usually good, crowd as well, but the bouncers act like they got some high profile job, like no offense but dude you're just a guy wearing a suit with a clipboard!! They are so picky about the dress code for guys, the guy in front of us (African American) well dressed, dress shirt n pants, kind of a heavier guy, he couldn't get in because his pants were too baggy, umm no they weren't. I known of other people that have had the same issue with dress code. I say the race because I've been there with a variety of races and its always an issue with every race except the white people. So they ended up trying to kick us out of line because we were defending the guy in front of us, and the bouncer was talking shit to us. The Park needs to hire better staff, less attitude!!
After all that we just decided to leave and go right around the corner to the MIX were there was no issues with anything, and ended up having a great night dancing the night away.
And the Mix also has a great happy hour from 4-7 :)
I have been to Park on many occasions. It is def. not as good as it use to be a few years back. Â The music all depends on who the DJ is as some are better than others. The atmosphere and the entire setup of the park is a big plus. Drinks are on the higher end but def. not as much as in the bay area. Â Fun place to hang out whether you want to dance or simply socialize on the outdoor patio.
Review Source:While the club itself is perfectly fine, it's the bouncers, when did they become A$$holes about the dress code? The last few times here, they always found something to nitpick about. We got denied entry because;
1. Wearing  a flannel and not a dress shirt. A button up collar shirt  is a button up collar shirt, is it not?
2. Pants weren't cuffed. Really? I'm already wearing slim fit , proper length pants, and now i have to cuff them?
3. Shoes. I had on some very nice boat shoes. I understand these are not dress shoes or "shoes that you can shine." This wouldn't be an issue if the group of dudes you just let in  were not wearing the same type of shoe as I was. So, only some people can wear them and some can't?
The dude who checks the IDs at the door before you get in is still cool though. It's everyone you have to get through before him.
Ok, so...I had to try this place out just to check it off my list. The location is right in the heart of midtown...and its convieniant. No bridge toll, great parking, and hot weather. Staff gets 2 thumbs down. They were way extra about checking everyone in.
Music was on point. The DJ played Eazy Duz It, which...made my night. The drinks were yummy, and the bartender was not stingy on the alcohol.
They offer a guestlist on their facebook page.
Call me Misses Been there Done that...Because I prolly wont be doin it again.
Went here on a "SATURDAY NIGHT" their theme was get in for free if you wear short shorts and tall socks which I didn't wear because I thought was kind of "high school" So of course I rocked a cute dress.
Went on Facebook Earlier that day and Joined their "Guest list" if you arrive before 11 P.M. you get in free after 11 P.M its a $10. cover charge , I was very satisfied with the confirmation I received from the club on Facebook that I and a friend were placed on the guest list. :)
The park has valet parking which is $7 friendly fast valet service the guys are cool. The bouncer is also very cool he makes small exceptions all though they prefer the guys to wear dress shoes he may make an exception for the guys if they arrive with PRETTY GIRLS. :)
The staff is also very friendly and nice when you walk in there are mirrors I guess so you can check yourself out which were kinda cool. the crowd is a mixture of all "Ethic Backgrounds" which I liked since I come from a diverse family. The DJ is pretty cool for it to be a SACRAMENTO CLUB he played SOME BAY SONGS which I loved since I'm from the bay area and new to the area. He also Played DANCE HALL, POP, R&B , Hip HOP, The old 90's hits, even Reggaeton which I loved. I danced my ass off all night love he kept the crowd moving.
The crowd was pretty friendly I danced with a few strangers "girls of course" I seen guys grinding on girls through that kinda threw me off . I even seen guys dancing with guys which WOWED me because this isn't a GAY club. "/ My overall experience I enjoyed my time here I may return I may not I think I'll be trying the SOCIAL NIGHT CLUB and the MIX DOWNTOWN next time. :)
Warning: came here a while back
Very nice place to dance inside or chill outside... Bar everywhere! I love this place friendly staff, restaurant next door ( I think), good music, average $ clean , dress code inforced so you won't find any rachet people here! Honestly this place is a gem last time I checked ...
Tip: make sure you're on the right list AND in the right line at the right time! They are serious about cutoff times so I heard
Who knew that a club in Sacramento would be one of the best places I have been to! My friend and I came here on a Saturday and were able to get in for free because we guestlisted. We got there a bit early so it was pretty dead inside and it wasnt until midnight or so when it got a little busier. The venue is pretty big and there is a dance floor in one room, a bar area in the other, and a huge patio in the back. I absolutely loved the patio because it was so nice to take a breather and SIT. Clubs never have seats. I am in my early 20s and the crowd was totallyyy not for me. There are so many old people here and I even think there was a high school reunion so this review is not for the crowd.
What I LOVEDDD about this place was the MUSIC. OMG best music I have ever heard!! They play all the good top 40 and hip hop songs and my friend and I just had an awesome time singing along to the songs and dancing. If only the SF clubs would play this kind of music and I would be one happy camper. The only thing that would have made this club better was if the crowd was a bit younger but I loved the music so much that I give it 5 stars :) I think if I lived around there, I would definitely have my birthday here because it is just a fun place for friends to hang out at the bar and just chill.
What is funny about this place is that when you step inside the restroom, you will notice that you can see the other side of the mens restroom but only for the washing hands area. Of course the guys and girls will giggle about it and feel awkward but it is quite funny.
**TIPS**
1) Great music, great venue, not so hawt crowd but still enjoyed myself!
2) Guestlist and get in for free before 10:30 or 11.
3) Enjoy!
Ambience is nice. Bad service. Didn't get in because they said my friends pants were too long when they weren't. Talk about discrimination. Other then that I've been in there before so its not too bad. Here's a tip, if you come with long hair as a Guy, you probably might not make it in. Slick back or not.
Review Source:You can't rate a Sacramento club relative to one in LA, Vegas, or Miami; for Sacramento, this club is great.
The crowd is dressed better than the ones on K street, which is a plus. I haven't heard of any "I know you didn't just do that" moments because someone's shoes got a smidgen of dirt on em, another bonus.
You can't really complain about the music, because clubs research the demographics in a city and gear the selection of music to the people that walk through their doors, but (here comes the complaint) it could improve.
I find the outdoor area and fire pit much more appealing than inside the club.
Overall, its a more upscale venue with more distinguished guests.
Recently celebrated my birthday here. My group had bottle service and our waitress along with others were very attentive. I really appreciated one of the guys taking care of any people that attempted to come up our booth trying to possibly get a free drink.
The bathroom were clean as well as I enjoyed the two way mirror when washing hands.
All in all, my group and I had a pretty awesome night.
I had never been to the Park before but everyone made it sound like it was a really awesome nightclub. I would have to say my opinion would rather be the opposite, I would have rather stayed home than waste the $15 and time that I will never get back.
When my friend and I first arrived the bartender was really sweet and made us a delicious drink and had really awesome customer service. I wish I would have remembered his name because I would have given him 5 stars!
The DJ was literally the worst I had ever listened to in my life. He would play a really good song for 30 second, then change to a terrible song that was popular 5 years ago. I'm sorry but when I pay a $15 dollar cover to go to a nightclub I expect to dance to awesome music and have a good time.
The worst part about this nightclub is the fact that you can not walk anywhere without getting pushed by drunk girls wearing clothes that leave nothing to the imagination. I heard this was an "upscale nightclub", well that is how they try to portray them selves on the radio anyways, but after my experience there last night I would never recommend this bar to any of my friends, and I will definitely never be going back there.
Finally made it out to The Park! I have to say, it was not bad at all. I had been putting off coming here for years now after a lot of terrible Sacramento club experiences. I finally decided to give it a try and as far as I'm concerned, this is probably the best club in Sacramento.
The place is is beautiful and very spacious. Which is a nice change. Love how open everything is, how a club should be. There are a few bars and the bartenders were always ready ta take my order before I even knew what I was getting. If I did have to wait, they always acknowledged me which is how it should be!
Yes there are some cons - like the line they have you wait in, which seemed unnecessary. (luckily we somehow talked our way into skipping it)
All in all, Ill be back :) Hopefully I wont have to wait in a line!
I love this place! Definitely my favorite club in Sac.
But...because I've been here so many times, there have been some mishaps. Sometimes the bouncers are super douchey, especially when you're with guys. There is no need to hold up the line when there is absolutely no one in the club. I swear they hold the lines until 11 so they make everyone pay. I would give The Park 5 stars if it wasn't for the douchey ass bouncers. One time, we paid the young white bald bouncer $20 to let us pass the line to go into the next line to go in. He promised us we wouldn't have to pay at the door but we ended up having to pay $5 each at the door. I refuse to pay to get into any club in Sacramento but I was just so mad at that point, I just paid it because we had already paid the bouncer $20. Be sure you get in before 11 if you're on guest list! Â
Overall, The Park is a great club for being in Sacramento. Love the DJs... they play the hottest hits and throws some house in there sometimes. Oh and the bartenders are great and I feel the shots are bigger compared to other clubs. I absolutely love the huge outdoor patio area. Great place to just hang out and talk if you don't feel like dancing. I also love that Majohng and Gogi's Korean BBQ is right next to it so when you're really drunk and the cabs won't let you in, you can chill at either place to hang out, eat, and sober up.
Came here with the girlfriend via the promoter (Jonathan) putting us on the guest list for thanksgiving eve event. Nice and professional guy. We got there around 10pm, I had an OJ (3), she had a Midori Apple (7). The idori Apple was VERY tasty and for someone who does not drink, I liked it.
Friendly crowd, great servers. She asked us if we need refills and I graciously declined.
I did ask for a recommendation that's similar to the Midori Apple. She brought my gf an AMF...which was LOADED with shots....and didn't taste like anything. Actually, it was disgusting. We both vowed never to get an AMF ever again.
The next half an hour, we stood under the heat lamps, chatted, drank, and embraced. It was a very date-ish scene. Then we went to dance. the DJ was good...had two gogo dancers dressed as native indians.
I came here once before for a friend's birthday in 2009. Also had a positive experience back then. Hence, 4 star it is!
As much as I love the decor and interior design here, I cannot deal with the bouncers. Keeping their guests waiting outside in the cold for hours is very misleading especially when the people capacity is barely reached.
I despise the bouncers so much especially the  PRICK NAMED JUSTIN. He is a so-called an ex-marine that's really rude and arrogant. So the story goes, my friend, *Robert who is deploying for the Middle East within days wanted to enjoy his last few days in the states at this club. One of our friends borrowed his id without acknowledgement and used it to get in because he left his wallet in the car. He ended up getting escorted out and grabbed Robert and interrogating why Robert's military id was in someones possession. The id was taken from him and the friend went on his way. Robert caught up to them and asked for his id back because he was also escorted out as well. When he tried to retrieve his id back, Justin felt like he had the authority to withheld government property in his possession overnight. We called the cops and of course, they have no civil rights knowledge or any common sense knowledge at all, dismissed it and told Robert to come back and retrieve the id tomorrow morning.  Low and behold, the son-of-a-bitch lost Robert's id. Robert had to go through bureaucracy and processes with his military unit to replace the id because ids cant be destroyed because it's government property and blah blah blah. In summary, the prick couldve just given the owner his id back. Robert made a mistake by not keeping his id in his possession, but the guy is putting his life on the line for his country, for that stupid prick's life.
This club has poor management and horrible regulations for the bouncers to follow. Theyre rude and insensitive, disrespecting military personnel especially one who is risking his life serving our country, and all this club does is wrongly uses his authority ignorantly steals a Marine's id. Very disrespectful. Anyone who has family or friends in the military knows how difficult it is to leave their home and fight for their country yet a bouncer hired off the streets acts ruly and inconsiderate. What are their problems? Their job is not that serious.
Sacramento, please please please open a new club!! Â
Went here again after my friends from the bay surprised me on my birthday...and almost got into a fight in the ladies room. WHAT?!?!
It was not instigated by me, it was instigated by the lady who holds the paper towels for you. Â I had stepped to the side of the line to take a picture for some girls. Â When I stepped back in, she pushed me to the END of the line (after standing in line for over 10 minutes already). Â I told her that she could have asked me to move instead of pushing me to the side. Â She continued to push. Â I obviously got irritated and repeated what I said several more times but was pushed to the end of the line. Â When I finally got to the stall and came back out, there was a girl there who decided to confront me for being so "rude and disrespectful to the lady just because she couldn't speak English." Â uhhhh HELLO. Â #1 BIATCH, I am 100% ESL. Â So don't even get on me for getting on people who can't speak English. Â #2 She did NOT see what happened from the start and did NOT have reason to start a confrontation for what she did not see #3 The lady was so over it already and was trying to calm her down because it was obvious she didn't care what had happened earlier.
I hate this place. Â Too bad...I had so many great memories here prior to it sucking so much with selfish, self righteous beezies.
*sigh* In the words of Danny Glover of Lethal weapon fame....
"I'm getting too old for this $hip....."
"The Park" doesn't make me feel to old...considering
"
The Park" is a place for Cougars and Cougar bait, Paris Hilton,
And socialite wannabes, fake tans, and people who missed their flights
To a Vegas night club, they thought they were going too.
The staff. Hmmm, when are you guys and girls nice?
Seriously, the bartenders are kinda snooty, and the bouncers
crack me up... here is some of the dialogue.
Bouncer: "Your jeans are a little tattered, homeboy, this is an upscale nightclub!"
Me: "Oh yeah? I'm sorry, I didn't know...
Bouncer: "I'll let you go this time, but just remember this is
this is a professional nightclub, we have celebrities that come here"
Heh, I guess he didn't know who I was...
As far as "upscale" I walk in to see broken glass
a whore in her mini-skirt drunken on the ground
spilled alcohol on the floor, making it into a amazing slip and slide! Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
The DJs, could be better. Aswell as the guestlist situation.
My heart goes out to the wonderful designed outside lofty all white area
With beautiful funishing....but until I saw a girl a drunken one, Viomit all over herself and the furniture!
And I think to myself.....
"Upscale"
Not so many pluses, except the decor, props on the bathroom,
The concept of a see through spot is unique, but not enough to lure me back....
Bottle service is nice here, although the drinks can get pricey.
Seriously, I don't drink here, I am a Male am worried, I will get "roofied"
Beware of the pretentious since they are everywhere here....
As I said....
I'm getting too old for this!
I've taken a huge hiatus from the clubs due to the fact that i'm feeling pretty old and it's not my scene anymore. Â I'll go every now and then for some friend's birthdays. Â I remember when i first started going to the clubs a few years back, the park and the mixx was known more as cougar central. Â I guess that's changed as I see it's more like the hip place to be now these days.
The lines to get in is super long so definitely get there early. Â The bouncers are such douches. I know there are big crowds but it's no excuse to be rude.
I've always liked the park because i love the modern feel to their decor. Â The outside patio reminds you a little bit of vegas (very little) and the bar areas looks simple and clean. Â The bathroom has a two-way mirror where you can see the the men's side as they're washing their hands. Â It's a cool concept but it is kinda weird having someone look at you while you're washing your hands. Â It's super dark in the bathroom in which i wish they would brighten it up a little. Â The women's line is as always long as hell (ya'll need to learn how to pee faster! I'm always in and out).
The drinks are kind of expensive here and they seem pretty weak to me. Â Their dance floor seems a little small and crowded. Â The DJ plays a pretty good mix of music from electric to hip hop and pop. Â I love the outdoor patio area. Â It provides a nice break to the stuffy crowded dance floor and bar. Â Fresh air is always good when you're intoxicated. Â
I love that Mah Jongs is next door and open late just in case you're having too much fun and need to sober up. Â Good location of the club but this place sure makes miss Vegas clubbing.
Came in as a huge group for a friend's Good-Bye dinner. We didn't go to the club here so I can't say about the experience. But love the idea of club/lounge/restaurant.
Anyways, we ate here! Since it's a downtown restaurant, pricing is actually descent. The food was ok, I had better elsewhere. The environment was very easy-going, staffs were really nice.
The best part about the Park, I gotta say is the bathroom! Yes the bathroom! hahaha...I've never seen anything like it before. Even though the stalls were private the wash area were see-through to the men's side. I was washing my hands and look up thinking that a mirror was there and saw our guy friend across from me, I was shock and lost all at the same time (utterly speechless)!
I will probably go here again!
One of the best club in Sacramento..
NICE outdoor patio where you can sit and enjoy a nice drink.
Total of 3 bars one in the middle one by the dance floor and one outside patio. Â This is one of the biggest club in town. Â IF YOU WANNA IMPRESS SOMEONE THEN COME HERE..
This night club is surrounded by restaurant that let you in for free if you order from from them before 10pm. BEST way to get into the night club for free and without waiting in line is to eat and have dinner here first.
The setting of this night club is beautiful VERY BIG!
Admission is 15 dollars; come early so you don't have to wait in line!
Dress code: DRESS TO IMPRESS.. guys cant get in without dress shoes
DJs on Friday is better then SAT, but both nights plays pretty good music.
Drinks/Price: 10-12 dollars shots depending on what, yes expensive but not to bad.
Booths are hard to get so make sure you ask and see if you can get a deal or what not.
GUEST LIST are also available.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST: The RestROOM is awesome you can see the guys washing their hands ... hahah check em out give them loooks. its always clean which is awesome...
Overall,
I really like this night club its one of the best one in Sacramento. Â Never was disappointed I been back many times!
Aww the Park Ultra Lounge, I would never pay to walk through your doors.....
There are not alot of dance clubs to choose from in Sacramento, so do not be expecting a lot at all. I will say however that the Park Ultra Lounge, has one of the best atmospheres outside then any other clubs. They have a lot of seating and fireplaces to sip your beverage and have some intimate "club" time.
However being Sacramento, the ghetto sneaks in every time to this club, so beware.
And GUYS, this is a club, so dress shoes are required, so please try to dress decent.
The music was top 40 every time I have been here, so hopefully they will hire on some better DJ's soon.
XOXO
I don't know why I had high expectations for this place, but was a total let down.
The drinks are hellllllla expensive, like really & I'm not a cheap girl, but $21 for 2 nasty ass adios, um I'm sorry but I don't think the bartender knew how to make an adios. I hardly even like drinking adios, I do it purely for the fact that I can get a good buzz off it, but this one was nasty as f*ck, excuse my language. Â Thankfully, we went to the outdoor bar and had another bartender remake the adios, and yes it was much better and I did appreciate the fact that he was kind enough to remake the drink.
Too many girls & couples. I'm not all that good looking, but I know ugly when I see it & this place was crawling with a bunch of uglies. I like to see some eye candy when I go out, but this is not the place for it.
Got there at about 10pm, finished our drinks, looked at the time, "Whhhaaat? Barely 11pm? lol, thats when you know the place is wack and hellla boring. So we left. What a waste of makeup. Thank goodness we got in free, 2 stars for that.
Probably won't go again. Sacramento's got too many places to go to settle for the park.
I came here for a friends birthday party. I'm really glad we came early, because we were able to get a table and the place got slammed.
The music was pretty good, all top 40s stuff and the bouncers weren't dicks, which I always appreciate. My only real qualms were the quality of the drinks. I ordered Nuts and Berries and despite telling me she knew what it was, the bartender clearly did not. She put frangelico in cranberry juice with a bit of cream and tried to tell me that was the proper way to make one. Yea... No.
Also, the two way mirror in the restroom, while amusing, is also asking for disaster. My friend drunkenly started adjusting her bra in front of the mirror. Much to the delight of the guy washing his hands on the other side.
The drinks were also kinda small for the price, though I guess that's what you get when you go to a dance club.
I think this is the ONLY and #1 place to go to when your in Sac if your looking for a place that has a club/lounge/restaurant! Â
We came here the past weekend to celebrate one of my Good friends B-Day!! First we started with dinner at Cafeteria 151 its a restaurant rite inside The Park, Â you can eat dinner go to the bar and even dance and come back to continue dinner again lols it cant get any better then that. The food is not all that great but with great friends and good drinks its makes up for it! (my fav the only thing -Shrimp Scampi)
I had also gotten a VIP Cabana that is outside! Yes Outside!!! Â they have a really nice setup with an awesome fireplace a bar area and very spaciouse to sit stand and even dance out there! and ofcourse its even better when the weather is nice and warm. Our Cabana came with a sexii host who was really sweet and even took pics with our single guy friend lols..
Parking you will not find come before 9pm the Valet is $5.00 come after 9pm its $7.00..The Valet guys are really nice and fast in getting your car.
Make reservation to eat at the restaurant you will not have to pay the cover charge of 15.00 or even more to get to the club have dinner and you can go straight to the club afterwords.
I will deff be back again! :))
I had a blast when I went here. Stopped by The Cafeteria before hand to grab some dinner to go past cover. (Food was delicious, btw).
Some DJ or other was there that night when we were there. I usually don't like it when random DJs come in because you don't really know what kind of music their going to put out, but he was on point and made for a very enjoyable night.
There are two bars, one in the general "dining" area and one on the dance floor.
The bathroom is nice, but can get really crowded. And be watchful of the mirror if you are a first timer there, it can get pretty trippy.
Myself & 6 other girls went here to celebrate a Bachelorette Party! This was a really nice modern club! A girl that was in in our group said the restrooms were pretty neat and you could see the opposite sex across from you waiting in line as well through some glass. Interesting. So overall I give the club 5 stars for its atmosphere and decor and we only had to wait in line for a minute or two. Lots of tables, seating, and the music was awesome. Variety of people also.
One thing I must say is in the small amount of time that I was there, a second didn't go by that I could just dance with my girl friends and have a good time without some dudes trying to yell at me over the music about whatever. Seriously one after the other.. From what I could tell in the dark there were lots of Mexican guys creepin. I think the bouncers/security should regulate a little more in the club, there was a few couples basically having sex on the benches right in front of everyone. These nasty guys pounding girls. Not dancing on girls. Pounding. Disgusting. We had to move a couple of times and dance elsewhere to avoid being sexed on.
I went to The Park for the first time this past weekend for my friend's 21st. My boyfriend and I arrived at the Cafeteria 15L entrance so we could eat since something went wrong with the guest list and we were not guaranteed entrance anymore, which sucked. They checked our ID at the door.
So either pay $15 cover charge to go dance and sit at The Park Ultra Lounge, or pay $15 to get dinner and desserts and go dance and sit at The Park Ultra Lounge. Of course, being my frugal self, I was like "why pass up a free meal if you have to pay $15 anyways?"
So after dinner, we go straight towards the bar area. I look around and see the lounge area, which is quite nice. I loved how it was outdoors, but still enclosed. And there was plenty of places to sit even though the place was pretty packed. Perfect for a night of girls dancing in heels, or a night of being drunk and needing a place to sit for a while.
We never had to wait a long time to get drinks at a bar. There was also girls walking around with trays of free samples promoting the Grey Goose Cherry Noir drinks, which I have to say are yummy! I had 3 of them! ;)
The bathrooms are really clean. I got so messed up, and the attendant was super nice about it.
I really enjoyed the music here, and I would love to come back and not get so messed up so I can actually enjoy myself. My advice would be to arrive early (8:30-9:00pm), grab some dinner, then head on over to the dance floor. You'll be sure to have a good time.
Only the best of the best in Sacramento goes to the Park. It's hard to get on guest list, so you gotta make sure you find the right promoters! And on top of it, ARRIVE EARLY because the line gets very long!
The only reason why I'm giving it a 4.5 out of 5 is because of the wait, but other than that this club is my favorite. Why do you ask? Well to start off with, the crowd here is very diverse. The bathroom here is super clean and nice, you have a lot of attendants who are there to help you out in case you are smashed. The space here is pretty big, compared to other clubs here in Sacramento. I really like how there's a huge dance floor, and on top of it, the patio outside is a great spot to chill if you are tired of dancing. Drinks here are alright...kind of expensive if you ask me, but then again we are at a club. Also, the music can be somewhat hit or miss...depending on what night you go on (highly recommend coming out on Friday/Saturday nights)
Bottom line is, this is the best club in Sacramento to go to. There's never any drama, there are occasional creepers here and there (but that's every where), and best of all, you can dance and/or lounge here.
For a club in Sac, can't really get much better. Â Came here with a group of 10 and got in line around 10pm. Â It is free until 11pm, and I feel like the bouncers just take their time to make everyone pay. Â There was absolutely no build up by the entrance and they would not let anyone in. Â As soon as it turned 11pm, they let a ton of people in. Â Typical bouncers as usual, let the people who pocket them some money in first. Â
Besides the wait, it was really a nice place. Â They have a couple bars, a pretty big dance floor and an outdoor area that was very nice. Â Not to many bouncers, which it probably needs more of. Â Bottle service looked pretty bad, people would go wherever they want. Â You could pretty much get away with anything in there. Â There might be 2 bouncers to cover the entire club. Â
Besides that, it was pretty crowded and I had a good time.
*reviewing for club night experience*
I tell myself I wouldn't want to come to this club anymore but yet I still keep coming back... -_-
-1 star for ridiculous cover charge. Â So if you don't manage to get yourself on their guest list (which is freaking elusive!) you'll have to end up pay 15-20 at the door. Are you kidding me!
-1 star for their ridiculous line system. It's worse than an amusement park. Â You get out of one line to go to another -_-
-1 star for their poor customer service! This club is supposed to be one of the nicer ones yet the staff seem to be a little snobby..
While I do admit, during the day, this place seems pretty nice and fancy, their night club experience is just mehh. Â Music is alright and the crowd seems a little bit more "sophisticated" but definitely not my number 1 choice for a night out clubbing in sac!
Fun place to go, so long as you're wearing the right stuff, on the guest list and show up on time :-)
I say this because of the handful of times I have come here, I have been turned away for lack of slacks once and another time made the mistake of carpooling with four other girls and getting to the line around 10 pm.
Yes, get there early and pay close attention to the dress code. Â Other than those two events, this club has never let me down. Â From the delicious Chinese food to the music and ambiance, I have always had a blast with my friends. Â I would suggest parking along Capital Park well before 10 pm.
Drinks are on the expensive side, but that's expected from a prime downtown location.
A fun little place. Pretty spacious with a nice outdoor area. Kind of weird that they sell street food inside... They basically tried to fit everything in there including a restaurant, outdoor bar, normal bar, a lounge, a dance floor, and street food.
WOW.
I would have given 4 stars except they had the bathroom attendant (guilt trip anyone?) and when I got back to my car RIGHT OUTSIDE there was over a dozen large white spots of bird poop covering my car (in 3hrs).
Out of the 4 visits I've made to the Park, I've only had one bad experience in which we never got in but I've been very lucky to either pay $5 or no cover at all. It's a bit biased but it does help that you know people at the Park, otherwise, you'll be freezing your cold ass off waiting in a line that never moves. =(
It's one of the best nightclubs in Sac, comparable to what Vegas nightclubs look like but a grade lower. Drinks are pretty strong if you get the right ones! Music is really crackin (top 40s with electro mashups) and the crowd is always having a fun time. I never feel like I'm dancing too hard because everyone here knows how to dance or DGAF and they look good doing it. haha
I lost my phone here one time while I was dancing on the floor. I kept texting and calling it from my friend's phone and someone texted back to come back the next day when they open at Cafeteria 15L. Note: It was a cheap non-smart phone.
My hottie Wife got us in without a cover. Nice.
We met up with Yelpster Queen S. for a drink and some dancing. This place is large and very spread out. Plenty of room for large groups. You can easily get lost in this place.
The bar is very accessible and there are many cabanas and lounge areas on the patio.
Attached to the Park is the popular Cafeteria 15L. So you have great food at your fingertips without having to leave the Park.
The music was pretty good and sound system pumpin'. Not as good as the system at District 30, but that may be due to the venue size.
The age group here seemed to be ranging from 28-38.
Overall a great venue to have a good time with friends.
What's that you say? Â Not a fan of THE PARK? Â That's because you are going on the WRONG NIGHT! Â [News Flash: Â "THE PARK ULTRA LOUNGE goes to the DARK SIDE on Sunday Nights!"]
SITREP
WOW! Â "Chocolate" (The Asylum) & "Peanut Butter" (The Park Ultra Lounge) really DO taste good together! Â Who-da thought!?! Â ;^D
Upon the bad news that BARCODE was closing it's doors for good, there was a lot of concern about where Sunday night's uber-event "THE ASYLUM" would land.
Would it be disbanded? Â Would it land at some crappy venue, only to languish?
Luckily for all, the Wong Family rescued THE ASYLUM and brought it downtown to one of their flagship venues - THE PARK. Â [On this note, however, I must emphasize that this review is ONLY for the Sunday Night event "The Asylum" hosted @ The Park. Â This is not a review of any other night.]
OUTSTANDING VENUE FOR ENJOYABLE DANCING MADNESS!
THE PARK this past Sunday night was one of the best "WOW!" Â And I mean "WOW!" experiences. Â This is truly one of the few EVENT-VENUE combos I really enjoy, which is why it is extremely nice for me to take my FIRST "YELP"-opportunity to write about it.
ALL NIGHTS ARE NOT ALIKE
I have to point out this review if for THE PARK on Sunday Nights. Â Different nights of the week might as well be different clubs given the different events that are promoted on different nights. Â Venues are like "chameleons" in their ability to take on the character of the event-personality. Â One night it may be Hip-Hop. Â Another night it may be Alternative Rock / Indie. Â On a night like tonight with THE ASYLUM, you get the best of the Gothic-Industrial-EBM format.
And along with the events and music, come the crowds. Â So this it to emphasize that what may not be your cup-o-tea on a Friday and/or Saturday Night and/or on a Sunday is just a matter of taste & preference. Â Different strokes for different folks. Â So please do the courtesy of NOT panning a great establishment like THE PARK just because you may not like the music format or DJ on a particular night. Â *gets of his soap box*. Â Now back to the Asylum....
"ASYLUM" - THE ORIGINAL SET-UP
First came to The Asylum back in 1994 when it was still at Barcode. Â So 17 years at one venue is a LOT to invest in a space, a time and an event. Â Moving certainly brings it's reservations. Â Questions that arise immediately are, "Will the chemistry between the event promoter-DJs, their loyal following, the venue, and THEIR loyal following, mix very well?
It must be stated with enthusiasm that this past Sunday Night with the Grand Opening of ASYLUM @ THE PARK that all expectations were grandly met and future expectations are wildly titillated!
CURRENT ASYLUM DJ-FORMAT
The Asylum plays the best Synthpop, Gothic, Electro, Dark Wave 80s, EBM and Industrial that you will hear played. Â Period.
BAR & SECURITY STAFF
In sum: Â BEST in the business! Â BENNY from BARCODE came with part of his crew and have taken over duties at THE PARK on Sunday Nights. Â We could not be happier about this transition to the new venue! Â
THE LAY OF THE LAND
What's really successful about the set-up is that The Asylum has a ragin dance floor going on all the time. Â But if you want to take a break, there is an absolutely exquisite courtyard with heat lamps, a large long fire pit, nook(ie) tents, couches and ample space to stretch our legs, have a smoke, and engage in a pleasant conversation with friends - without having to shout - the whole night if you wish. Â It couldn't be a better mix.
THE LOWDOWN
So enjoy THE PARK whichever night of the week that you want to listen to music & dance that is your particular preference (call ahead / look to the listings, and know what is being featured). Â And on my final note, you are bound to have an incredibly, maniacally fun time at THE ASYLUM inside THE PARK.
Sadly, I ended up back here again this past weekend. Â Another good friend of mine threw a party in the VIP area here. Â While I did notice a decline in the number of spray tan, fist pumping, Jersey Shore rejects the amount of low class/skanky women was way up. Â I know what you're thinking... Â "Why is a guy complaining about that?!?" Â Well, when you see multiple girls off the dance floor with their dresses up around their waists grinding on random guys it's a turn off. Â Honestly, I've been to low rent strip clubs with more class. Â
The other major annoyance that stuck out this time was the bar itself. Â The staff was a lot nicer and the service was more prompt. Â However, the beer still tastes watered down. Â And the prices for mixed drinks is pretty high. Â Even by normal mid-town standard prices the Park is expensive if you want to drink anything other than well quality drinks. Â
Bad atmosphere, drunken skanks, pretentious patrons, expensive drinks = I wouldn't even recommend this place to someone I didn't like.
