This establishment only gets 2 stars from me because the bar tender was so incredibly RUDE on the night of Saturday 7/20. I've never encountered such an arrogant weird-o. I will say, he is definitely not trying to become an actor like many other bar tender/waitresses in LA, because he certainly wasn't making ANY friends.
After waiting about 10 minutes with a couple other friends the bartender finally came up and asked us what we wanted. Before we even get a drink order out, he asks if all of us are paying together. We reply "no" and he laughs and walks away from us to serve other people!!! We continue to wait until he comes back to our end and asks us "are you ready now" - um who said we weren't ready? You walked away from us, idiot. He takes our orders and eventually serves our drinks. We proceed to wait another ten+ minutes for him to bring us back our credit cards we paid with (all the while we can see him serving all these other people at the bar and doing NOTHING with our cards). Upon getting the receipt (I got a beer for $5) - my friend who ordered a SODA WATER sees that her bill is about $7.50 - WTF. She asks the bartender why a soda water is so much and he gives her the most smug look and says, "you specifically asked me for two shots of vodka in that, that's how much it cost". Completely untrue, but at this point we just wanted to get away from him.
Fighting the urge to leave NO TIP, I gave him 50 cents and my friend left nothing. I regret wasting even that 50 cents on him.
Some positives: not a long line, bouncers at the front were pleasant, nice decor, no cover
Fun fact: This freak bartender inspired me to create a YELP and post my first review. Good job dude.
This was a really cool spot!
Don't let the sketch street it's on fool you. This place had such a good vibe and the decor was dark and mysterious, with chandeliers and dark leather accents.
I tried the black cherry manhattan which was made with muddled black cherries. Yum. Nice bartender.
Good experience overall!
so damn chilllllllllll in this spot!
came by on a bday bash drink-fest after dinner here with a few close friends and the place was dimly lit and cozy with leather sofas, ottomans, and tables. the place was pretty quiet around 8:30pm on a Saturday, but eventually started to fill up quickly in an hour. the back of the spot has another bar area with a little fireplace and semi-open ceiling so you can smoke there to your lungs content if need be. the bathrooms are located in a hallway to the left of the main bar and is tiny as hell...just one urinal and a toilet with a broken stall door.
nevertheless, the spot is pretty chill and loungey and good for big groups.
Went here on a Tuesday night at around 10:30 and it was nearly empty. I was lured in by Yelp talk of the patio and was told I would be the only person out there if I ventured. So yeah I didn't.
The place has a very cool vibe. The decor is old-timey. It's off the main strip and has a neighborhood bar feel. I really really liked that.
In terms of the beer selection, it was nothing special. Pretty standard.
I bet this place would be a blast when it's hopping, but save it for weekends.
Last time I was here was about 10 years ago when the place was called "Goldfingers". Â I was driving by on a Tuesday and decided to stop by for a few beers.
Outside seems sooooo ghetto with several homeless w/their shopping cart...  Finding street parking can be tedious....  I lucked out by arriving just in time to see someone pulling out of a meter spot in front of the place.  After 8PM(weekdays) meter stop.  Walking inside from the outside atmosphere transformed my surrounding to an era of old style  Hollywood glamour....  I can't even remember what the place look like years ago...  Walking inside made me feel at ease and was greeted with a friendly staff.  This place draws in an awesome selections of people.  All cool hipster and professional patrons.  The jukebox/photobooth is the 1st thing I noticed. But...  What made my stay more enjoyable is the bartender "Lori or Laurie" (never ask exactly how it's spelled).  Her Bartender skills is nothing less than exceptional with an awesome personality to match.  I hope she works on other days beside Tuesday...  There's very few places in Hollywood with a an uber bar/bartender combo.. "Lori or Laurie"/Parlour is on the top of my list.  I'm a returning customer/patron.
I went here on 4/20 for my birthday and had the best time ever! I called ahead and reserved a table for my party. I was expecting about 20 people. It didn't cost anything to reserve. They just had my CC on file just in case I canceled.
All of the staff that night was accommodating and very nice! What was pleasantly surprising was that the bar wasn't very busy. The bouncer said that it perhaps was because of Coachella. It felt like I had the place to myself!
I loved the decor! Everything looked classy. I would definitely go here again!
I never know what I will find out there in Hollywood, but thank goodness for roll dogs cause we hit a landmine here. Jams, beautiful women, good looking clean cut to the ruffian. Nice main. Beer ipa bottle eeeehhh, plus its west coast!!!! Decor is interesting. Hella expensive!! But nice.
Review Source:Went here last night (Thursday) the place wasn't crowded at all which is perfect if you just want to relax and have a drink. The drinks were average prices, happy hour ends at 10pm. The thing I loved most about the place was the wallpaper, it really is velvet! I will definitely be back here soon!
Review Source:Love this place--- the best local bar for the Hollywood crowd above Hollywood Blvd.
The back patio is my favorite part-- being able to smoke, and drink, and be warm from a firepit.
The drinks are good, and the bartenders friendly. Weeknights are the best because it isn't too crowded. On the weekends, the bar in the back patio area is open as well.
My favorite part is probably the atmosphere. The outside looks ghetto, but when you walk in, it is an extremely pleasant surprise. It is very old school-- velvet wallpaper and giant leather couches. I just love it.
I had my birthday here with a party of 50+ and we all had an awesome time.
The bartenders are super friendly, and a super cool bouncer.
I really liked the interior of the place - very darkly lit - very French - very fun!
They also have an indoor/outdoor place for smoking with a firepit.
Honestly, I drank so much I cannot remember everything I drank. But all the drinks were prepared very well.
Amazing place for dates and to go out with friends,
I Definitely recommend this place!
There are no DJ's on weekends, so everyone  takes advantage of the jukebox which I think is really fun.
Love the intimate funky vibe, it's got a real cool bar feel without being pretentious. Also, you don't have to wait in line, or prove you're someone special to get in. The front part of the bar seemed empty, took us an hour to realize everyone was out on the porch (basically an enclosed bar at the back with somewhat open roof). I'm particular about my margaritas, the bartender made ours from scratch with fresh juices and they were strong for $8. You can't beat that in Hollywood. If I had to pick a bar in Hollywood again, it would be the Parlour Room.
Review Source:Such a simple concept - a bar, a theme(ish), and decor. Mix in $5 gin martinis - a tad dirty with two olives - and amazing, friendly service. Garnish with a cozy patio and fire pit. The result is a fantastic place to drink, feel at home, and hang out with friends. This is what a bar should be - clean and classy, inexpensive and enjoyable. I will definitely be returning, especially since those delicious martinis are ALWAYS $5.
Review Source:Great bar! Â Good drinks! Â My bf and I always order from their bar menu. Â 12-14 bucks a drink but the drinks are strong. Â Friendly staff. Â The bathrooms are a bit confusing at first. Â Had to read both signs to figure out which one was for females. Â They had a dj that was playing a wide variety of music. Â He started playing some house and we got up to dance. Â Patio is nice as well!
Review Source:Uninspired and seems to be trying too hard to be hip when it probably just should go for dive bar status.
Pros: The bouncer is always super nice
Cons: No sports, pricey, and the patio is super smokey - and it is just kind of in the in between - is it nice? is it divey? hmmmm...I guess if you must have a beer and you are unfortunate enough to be in Hollywood on Yucca you could do worse.
Super nice bouncer, even walked me to my car which was 1 block away because "honey the men won't dare whistle with me next to you"
Bartender could have been nicer since bar traffic was not really hectic -- mocked me when I asked for fun birthday shot recommendations (as i was celebrating my friend's birthday)... A simple no would've been fine.
And parking -- a nice place in Hollywood with easy parking (plenty of meters within 1 block walking)!! Valet is $10
I had to make my way down here since we were visiting the area. My bestie and I enjoyed great conversation with the bartender and locals. The bartender liked us so much that she had security escort us upstairs to their "club" so we could avoid paying cover. The beer selection is great and you can't help but leave a little tipsy! I loved the dancing floor they had upstairs and it was fun to let loose with some nice people we had met.
Review Source:I was dragged to the Parlour Room the other week for a birthday fiesta, and I wasn't sure what to expect. Â Located essentially on Yucca and Cahuenga, it's almost like a hidden gem. Â There's barely any line, the bouncers and bartenders are great and there's no cover. Â There's a small area to shake your groove thing, but the main draw for me was their adorable outside area - it boasts a bar and more seating than the entire interior of the place.
I don't know if I'd go back of my own accord - the music left a lot to be asked for. Â Have you ever heard Lady Gaga and Metallica mashed up? I sure wish I hadn't.
I thought this was supposed to be a bar? Based on the drink selection, I couldn't tell. Just really weird. They only had 3 beers on tap. A very limited mixed drink selection. Â
The bartender guy was a snob. The place is really small. Served no appetizers or food.
I guess they just serve food when they feel like it because I heard they serve food sometimes? again, weird.
The door man and customers were nice but I wouldn't come back.
yupppp I'm definitely not cool enough for this place. Came here for a friends birthday awhile ago and had lots of fun. It's small with a pretty large outdoor area in the back where people can smoke and BOY! do they. There is no "fresh air" getting in that area. The drinks were pretty strong. 2 and a half drinks and i had me a pretty happy drunk on. It happened pretty quickly that's for sure.
The doorman was super nice and the bartenders were pretty attentive. great place to hangout and people watch. Just don't get in the middle of a coke bust. YUP! you heard me. Just so happened that there were some not so stealthy ladies doing a little coke in the banos and were kicked out by management. the place isn't THAT big, people figure things out. esp in a 2 bathroom stall. BTW weird saloon doors on the stalls. and it's super close to the seat.... it's just not a nice bathrooming experience.
Fun nonetheless!
So apparently this is the 'unofficial' Syracuse Orange bar...they have Alumni events here to watch all the Basketball games...and hence why I ended up here.
On two separate occasions we ended up here for SU games (once on the MLK Monday holiday and then again this past Saturday afternoon). Â The first time here, I found the place to be quite spacious, and able to accommodate a decently large crowd with PLENTY of TV's so you could catch the game no matter where you are in the bar. Â They even have a patio area, complete with fire-pits and TV's so you could relax outside in the beautiful Cali sun. Â
On our second visit however, the place was PACKED...to the point of which we had to stand outside on the back of the patio (no wait service, no place to put drinks, no place to sit) the entire game. Â I felt it to be obnoxiously packed with only 2 bartenders at the bar and a ridiculously long wait for a beer (Side note: they sadly offered ZERO specials, even for a 4pm game!...beers were $5-$6 and we ordered jack and cokes which turned out to be $9 a pop! :-/ ugh).
They had an alright selection of beers on tap but both times claimed to be out of almost 50% of them...my first time here I tried to order 3 different kinds of beer to no avail before giving up and just settling for a glass of wine (obviously the perfect game-time drink, NOT). Â I would love to comment on the food, cause it did look pretty darn good...but again there was no chance of us getting any food.
Next time, I think I'll save myself the drive and the extra $2 a beer and just go to Dillon's Irish Pub on Hwood and Vine...they are right off the metro red line, they have an enormous selection of beers on tap, and almost all of them (95% of them) are $3 a pint, ALL. THE. TIME. Â Plus Dillon's serves up some incredible food (try the chicken quesadillas or if in the mood to be healthy, the spinach salad with steak!) YUMMMM.
This bar definitely had a classy and old time feel. Â I couldn't imagine that it be like that when I was walking up to the bar itself, which was just a door and sign above it with the bar's name on it. Â The spacious back room was what impressed me the most. Â It had covered patio area with a fireplace and heating lamps you can sit near to keep yourself warm on a chilly night. Â It was perfect for accomodating my group of 10 and it gave such a great atmosphere for great coversations. Â There was a bar that also was part of it but on wednesday night unfortunately, there was no one to man the station. Â
There was your usual variety of alcohol, nothing to spectacular. Â They do have a happy hour that lasts till 10pm which was a plus but selection was less to be desired. Â The $4 dollar shot of the day was a pink liquid that I didn't even bother learning the name or type of liquor it was. Â The bartender herself even gave a scoff when showing me and I went straight for the Jack to erase that image from my head. Â Prices are in the $6 dollar range for shots and $4 range for beers (typical) with adequate portions.
I must say though, a down part of this bar is the parking...In a less then reputable area in Hollywood, it was a hassle finding street parking anywhere near that bar and we definitely got lucky even parking 2 blocks away.
If you want a super chill place to take a date or have a good time with your friends, this is this place to be. Â Cheers!
I think the Parlour Room is a great place to have a chill get together with friends. Not a whole lot of space inside the bar area itself but there is also a outside patio area/smoking section too. The decor of the place is nice. Vintage chandeliers and wallpaper give you a blast to the past feel.
One thing I noticed was the bar Â
keeps we're excellent at service and attention even though the place was pretty jam packed at times. I was able to get drinks fairly easily without having to flag down a tender.
It would be cool if they were somehow able to fit even the tiniest dance floor in here but oh well, you can make your own. The music was diverse and it looked like the jukebox had something for everyone's taste.
Parking sucks. It's Hollywood. Good luck finding something on the street. Valet is available or private parking lots nearby which cost $10-$15. There's gotta be another way!
I like the spot but the chick bartender in the back charged me 10 bucks over on my card and I didn't realize it till it was too late. I was drunk. Now I gotta be on top of it!
Other than that, it's a cool spot, easy to get into and hassle free. I can also walk to it from my place so I drink. I wish they had more martini's during happy hour though, like The Well does.
The Parlour Room is fun. Â We all went here for Amy S.'s boyfriend's birthday one Saturday evening. Â Amy S. booked a table towards the back of the bar, which is a nice little hub to have when you're dealing with a big group. Â
I was in a "I'm not going to drink hard alcohol!" frame of mind, so instead I decided to pound 8-10 beers. Â Luckily, they have bottles of reasonably priced PBR. Â
One of my favorite things was the women's bathroom. Â The stalls are like parlor (oh I get it now!) doors. Â Also, there's a pretty big gap between the two stalls which is great for passing tampons, or toilet paper, or drugs, etc. Â Also good for some good ol' fashion peeping on your friends while they urinate!
There's also a patio in the back, but I didn't get to spend much time out there because it was so packed with smokers. Â Kind of icky.
It seems to me that Vintage Bar Group can do no wrong.
All of their bars are dark, classy, a bit edgy, affordable and have bitchin' decor. Parlour Room is exactly that and it's one of my favorite places to go out for drinks in Hollywood. All the Vintage Bar Group bars also have great late happy hours!
I didn't realize until this weekend, but if you're having a small party you can book a table at the Parlour Room or any of the affiliate bars for free! All you need to do is make the reservation in advance and give them some credit card info in case of a no-show. We did this for my boyfriend's birthday and it was perfect. There was none of the drama associated with reserving a table at a club, where you're basically forced to buy bottles. I'd definitely recommend for birthdays or other organized get-togethers!
This place is so freakin' cool that I decided to relocate my birthday party to this venue based on my first visit one week prior!
The atmosphere is trés vintage and kitschy (they have velvet wallpaper), but evokes an old world charm that Hollywood is supposed to be all about. I imagine the stars of the past like the Rat Pack and Marilyn Monroe coming here to mingle back in the day.
Drinks are pretty stiff, especially if you order one of their signature cocktails. The maple julep is sweet, but it'll still do you right after a few sips.
I also love their smoking patio in the back. It's nice and cozy (there's a neat fireplace and cushioned chairs to lounge by), yet doesn't feel like you're "outdoors". Good for me, since I have friends who are smokers, but since I get cold easily, I never usually want to go outside with them.
I like that it's slightly off from the usual Hollywood bars and clubs. (It's a couple blocks north from Hollywood Boulevard.) There aren't any other major nightclubs or bars in the immediate area, so there aren't ridiculous crowds to get around or lines blocking off the sidewalk.
After my first visit a few weeks ago, I decided to gather some of my friends to meet for my birthday this past Saturday. I called the management and was able to reserve an area inside - it's so nice to invite 20 people and not have to stand around. They gave me the whole left side just past the bar. Lots of comfortable seating and little tables. Â All of my guests many whom went there for the first time LOVED it. I got so many thumbs up and many of them said we should go back - I absolutely agree.
If you get there before 10 pm, it is happy hour and I believe the drinks are 1/2 off. Â What a great deal!!!! Â For my friends who smoke, there was a really nice back patio (enclosed roof) with a fire place and a separate bar. Â The bartender outside was fantastic. Big smile, very pretty and super friendly. It's always nice to come across nice people in general.
Overall we had a blast and will definitely be making regular stops here. They have valet parking for $9 which was really nice considering some of the parking lots in the area were charging an arm and a leg ($30!!!!). Â
I love this place!
"So, do you wanna grab a drink somewhere?"
I hesitate to respond because its a bit awkward.
I think to myself, where can i go, where its not too pretentious and close enough to bounce just in case this guy turns out to be a total weirdo who collects nail clippings and has a fetish with feet?
I walk in and fall in love. The place is a gem. The service was awesome, the ambiance intimate, and the outdoor space in the back was awesome. I will be back :)
Silly me, I've been a fan of this place ever since they opened, but didn't realize that I hadn't Yelped about it yet until I wrote about it's sister-bar, The Well Lounge just blocks away. The Parlour Room is the best thing to hit the semi-shady blocks near Cahuenga and Yucca. Formerly the dingy, heroine-chic dive bar Goldfinger's, The Parlor Room gave the space a complete remodel courtesy of the oh-so-hip Vintage Bar Group.
The atmosphere here is prime and the drink prices are astonishing considering you're in Hollywood. $5 Parlour Room martinis and a Happy Hour that boasts $5 Well cocktails and $3 beers until 10pm daily make for a decent night out on a budget or for those looking to impress. DJs and a jukebox, tons of seating, and even a great outdoor covered patio for those pesky smokers or those nights when you just need to get some air. Bartenders and door guys are super nice, and the drinks here are STIFF. Try the Mint Maple Julep or their Amaretto Sour and you shant regret it.
Stunning Hollywood era retro decor with crystal chandelier and flocked wallpaper. Enjoy the beautiful teal tufted seating as you sip on your stiff drink. The DJ was on point, so my friend and I stayed til closing dancing the night away.
A special thanks to the door man, Hans, who not only let us stay a little after closing, but actually walked down the block to make sure we got to our car safely. That is a sweetheart on a whole other level. We'll definitely be back since we know we're in good hands.
This is the kind of place you go to when you just want to relax, chill & drink with a group of friends in an upscale, intimate setting. The back patio area is the nicest part..with soaring ceilings and plenty of seating.
A friend had a birthday party here and unlike celebrating in a full-on club atmosphere..she was able to circulate the room & mingle with all of her guests. More than just "HI! Thanks for coming!" and then never to be seen again. Nope, she was in full view the entire time, conversating, taking pictures and drinking with everyone in her party.
Drinks are reasonably priced. Negates the need for bottle service, guest lists, crowds, worrying that the guys in your party will have a hard time getting in and all the other drama that goes into trying to celebrate your birthday in a club. Decent alternative in Hollywood.
I hate that this place is on Yucca, because it is anything but! I've rolled through these doors under so many different names, but I think they've finally nailed the concept, decor and theme with The Parlour Room of Hollywood. It's swanky without being over the top obnoxious. No clipboard, no cover, no guest list, no fuss.
It's no secret I like to drink and I enjoy doing it my hood of the h-to-the-wood, so thumbs up already for being in my desired map coordinates. The cocktail menu is on par with the now not-so-new onslaught of specialty drinks made from fine mixologists. The happy hour makes me happy, as does the vibe. Velvet laced walls and a fireplace, why don't mind if I do...
Chad was our bartender tonight -- a cool, friendly guy who knows how to treat people and make a great drink.
The Metropolitan (vodka & raspberry) and Cucumber Cooler (gin with lime and a nice, faint hint of cucumber) were great. I also tried the Parlour Trick, but I didn't quite love the coconut vodka without something pineapple.
I wish they somehow corrected the gap between songs in the jukebox; but I really just love the place, because it's chill, but allows for actual human interaction (chat-friendly).
Gone are the days of Goldfinger and Red Buddha Lounge and upon us are the days of The Parlour Room. I'll always miss Goldfinger and think back fondly of the great times there in the days when parking was free. I am thankful the Red Buddha Lounge is gone because the world needs less shitty Zen themed bars, especially when said shitty Zen themed bars charge covers and are a block away from shitty trendy clubs (*cough-cough* R.I.P. White Lotus) that drive parking prices up to $20 on weekends.
The Parlour Room has a different setup than Goldfinger which has you entering the bar on Yucca. I preferred entering through the back door in the parking lot of the liquor store. We paid $5 to park which I can live with, since there was no cover. The Parlour Room features two bar areas one in the front room and one in the back room. Though I can see where two bars and two different rooms can come in handy, I do miss the open outdoor patio of yesteryear. It seems those days are over and the whole space has been sealed up with some concrete and cement and enclosed.
The decor I have to say I was into. What's not to like about metallic wallpaper with velvety designs? The tealish turquoise leather couches and ottoman's were comfortable, the chandeliers pretty and the juke box had Danzig's "Mother"...need I say more? The bartender and bouncer were both easy on the eyes, friendly and easy to talk to (in Hollywood that's rare) I actually paid $10 for a specialty drink here because I didn't see any of the vodkas I usually enjoy. I went with the Maple Bourbon Mint Julep. I sucked that thing right down!
The one thing I couldn't however get over was the raquet coming from upstairs. At first I thought it was angry neighbors banging, but later got confirmation that there's apparently another bar upstairs which plays it's own loud music and has pool tables. I don't know what Goldfinger and Red Buddha had going on but I never noticed the noisy upstairs neighbors before.
I wish the Parlour Room much luck and success and hope this iteration of this bar space sticks around for more than just a couple years.
Am I disappointed or relieved that this place isn't a shady heroin haven? I first noticed this place, which is situated near the weird/bad part of Wilcox (near El Nido, the crackhouse hotel, and Playboy Liquor), so I figured you would catch 5-7 diseases just by walking by. Not so! It's excellent!
I was actually hoping to come out with a gnarly story about what a dump it was -- but The Parlour Room has a lot of character and class. In fact, you shouldn't even use the word "dump" in the same sentence as "The Parlour Room." It's very nice, and it has a great booze selection (both cocktails and beers.)
Update: Went back and actually visited the bathroom this time; I give an additional star for their bathroom wallpaper...in my opinion, it's cooler than the fuzzy stuff in the main room (which is also AWESOME.)
