I love how recluse it is.  I've been here a few times in the past six months and always enjoyed myself, except for the time the server was clearing my table and spilled the award-winning she-crab soup all over my dress.

The soup can be hit or miss.  Sometimes kinda oily and sometimes with crab shells.  Yikes!

I love the bread pudding though.  I've had great rockfish there.  Great pad thai too.

I don't care for the lunch menu, but I did enjoy some type of veggie medley burger they offered during those times.

Very dim lighting.  Very small restaurant.  Very nice experience.

Funny, I've been to YNot several times and never noticed this intimate, lovely place. We had lunch here today and found a hidden treasure. Lunch was delicious and I can't wait to try their dinner menu!

I took my mother here for lunch and we arrived pretty close to opening. There weren't any other patrons around, just us. When we walked in I was asked if I had a reservation, which I did. He had only seen one reservation on the books. This was my first time making a reservation with Open Table, and being able to make the reservation directly in the yelp app on the way to PASSION was a bonus.

As we were being directed to a seat, I said that I preferred a booth seat and we were told we could pick any seat we desired.

I had looked over the menu and reviews online and had an idea of which entree I wanted to try but I didn't see it on the lunch menu. I looked for an alternative but nothing else really stood out to me (although I did select an alternate). So I asked the server if Brick Chicken was only available on the dinner menu and he said that he would inquire with the chef to see if he would make it for us. The server came back with great news, the chef said that we could order anything we wanted of either menu. A perk of being the only patrons at the time perhaps?

That sealed the deal Brick Chicken, Warm Spinach Salad and She Crab Soup.

We shared all 3 items and were still completely satisfied. The chef graciously split everything into half portions onto two plates.

Brick chicken (a whole half of a chicken flattened - moist, well seasoned, crispy skin), green beans & truffle Mac n cheese.
Warm spinach salad. was so delicious. The fruit, veggie, cheese, nut combo provided just the right balance of flavors and textures.
She Crab Soup. Intensely rich, creamy and thick.

The food was delicious, the customer service was excellent, and the restaurant was clean and nicely decorated with a great atmosphere.

Tips: Make a reservation. The lighting is dim even during lunch hours. Those without youthful eyes could have difficulty reading the menu.

A great date restaurant in a pretty secret place, Passion doesn't disappoint with their food. Excellent food! I had the Crab Diablo with the creamy tomato basil sauce in lieu of marinara. DELICIOUS! My girl had a great rib roast smothered with mushroom gravy and served with risotto.

    Elegant, romantic, and fantastic.

She crab soup is the best we have ever had! Truffel Mac n cheese and the risotto are also favorites. The Savinogne Blanc is very good. Was a bit disappointed this last visit: very slow service, we did not get a bread basket and the lamb was undercooked(Medium came out rare). This was mentioned to the waitess but she never sent the manager to speak to us.  Not a huge deal because we love the place so much... But worth mentioning to help improve service.

Lunch on a weekday, a few other tables with business people, but very quiet.  Nice atmosphere; cool, calm, not too pretentious. She-crab soup about as good as I've had; perfectly seasoned, nice lumps of crab.  Service was excellent, attentive enough without being overbearing.  Wine recommendations were readily provided, helpful, and engaging.  The special, blackened prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes, was perfectly medium-rare as ordered, full of true beefy flavor balanced by the blackening seasoning, which was not overpowering.  Eclectic selection of desserts, presented directly by server, due to high turnover of offerings.  Creme Brulee trio was good; nice variety of flavors.  Overall, great place and fare.  Definitely planning to come back for dinner!

I took my wife out for her birthday to a concert. I called for a reservation at the last minute  just to get a table for an after concert birthday dessert date. Neither of us had time for dinner so we decided to have a late meal rather than just dessert. I must have mentioned something about a birthday for my wife because the staff left a birthday card on our table that they all had signed.

An absolutely magnificent experience with fantastic service and incredible food. Would not hesitate to go there again. It is my new favorite place. She crab soup was superb as well as the étouffée I had. My wife's steak was phenomenal too.  My thanks to the entire staff!

I've eaten at Passion twice.  The first visit I ate a late dinner.  At the time, sure..the food was good but, for the price, overrated.  The 2nd visit I happened to catch their tapas specials.  The Veggie Lasagna was DEEELICIOUS!  Spaghetti Squash w/ Scallops were pretty good too!  While I LOVE parm chips...It didn't belong in this dish.  I love the bread & oil they give.  According to my cousin, the bread pudding was really good... I have no clue as they didn't save me bite! I'd like to go back for tapas specials...there were a couple of items that I wanted to try.

Phenomenal meal. The swordfish special blew my mind. Not too fishy which was my concern. She crab soup delivered as expected. Our waiter mike was a professional with all great recommendations. Looking forward to another visit.

Not so great as some here have said. They dont seem to have a true direction as far as what kind if place it is. Saw the "chef" on a local tv show and it sounded interesting but they call what would be appatizers tapas. Someone cleardly needs to go to a true tapas restaurant so they can see how its  done! Brick chicken? Its not brick chicken a techniqute used in mostly street food in asia unless you cook it under bricks to press a deboned chicken flat and cooked. So these are just some of the reasons not to go there along with the fact that they think they are fine dining and come off like something its truly not.

We caught them on what should have been a slow night, a Monday night.  A quiet anniversary dinner.  The place was packed and they were unexpectedly understaffed.  A bit of a long , but now understandable wait.  The bar service was poor, and was probably not the regular bartender.  Very inattentive to the fact our glasses were empty, despite the fact our bottle sat just out of arms reach.   The calamari we had at the bar was overcooked and uninspired.  Bar service was a 2 out of 5 at best.

Dinner service was great.  Bethany served us and the kitchen was timely.  Food was wonderful and was a 4.5 of five.    We also had the best she crab soup we have had in many many years.   I wonderful small place.   Make reservations ahead of time.

We will be back many times i am sure.  But we will be at the top of the reservations list...

My fiancée went to dinner at Passion about a week ago (I forgot to review). He had made a reservation but we had to move it up at the last minute, which they were willing to do. It was on a Thursday so I don't know how busy they usually are.

I ordered a Butterfinger martini that I can't stop raving about. It tasted amazing! The server suggested we try the she-crab soup. Since I had never had the soup I didn't want to get a cup for myself. My fiancée ordered it and the server was nice enough to bring two spoons so I could have a bite. It was delicious and worth the awards it's won! If any soup can taste better, I want to try it. For dinner I ordered the special which was duck two ways and he ordered the scallops. Everything was great, perfectly cooked, tasted amazing, and the sides were tasty.

Dinner was expensive, and although the food was delicious beyond description that's why I rated them four stars. The service was good too. Our server was very polite, answered our questions, and was very attentive.

I went to this location last night for my Mothers birthday with my GF also. What can I say about this place, it strikes me as a place that is not sure what kind of restaurant it wants to be. On one hand it tries to present it self as fine dining with table cloths and a large wine selection and then on the other you notice that they put paper covers over the table cloths and at times the establishment can be very loud inside, almost like you are in a bar.

Apart from that,  decor inside the place is pretty nice, lots of art work on the wall, clean inside, the servers were attentive and their were not very long waits in time for the food or water or drinks ect. , checked on us often, so this is always good.

The prices are on par with most places in the area at this level of dining, you can compare it to places like fire and vine in va beach. They were very busy which is a good thing, the last thing you want to do is go to a ghost town for dinner, however was i overly impressed with this place? not really, and here is why.

The food was good, some of the tapas they have seem alot better on paper then when you get it. We ordered the " Chef's Truffle Mac & Cheese - White cheddar, pasta shells, white truffle oil" This was a dish that in many reviews people ranted and raved about, we tried it, took one bite, and had it replaced for the "Truffle Fries - White truffle oil, Parmesan cheese", the Mac and cheese was VERY runny, the flavor was not that great, the Pasta shells were totally overcooked like they have been sitting in a pot for way to long, a dish like this should be hot, and served al dente and in my view mac and cheese should not be a runny soup.  the fries were better, but not by much, they were overly oily and iv had fries like this at other fine dining establishments and they usually arent served as oily as this, but like i said, better, the sauce they come with was also pretty good.

We also ordered the cheese tapas, but that was also take it or leave it, it was blue-cheese, smoked Gouda, some crackers and a balsamic glaze, not very eventful, and really not that much of it.

As for the Entrees, my GF got the Ribeye steak, it was cooked to medium as she wanted it, good flavor, it comes with this sort of green pepper cubed potato mix that was really really spicy and i think detracted from the main dish or just didn't sit well with the dish at all. The asparagus were cooked perfectly on every-ones plate and were great.

My mother had the blackened tuna, she ordered it cooked, so not pink or rare, they did a very good job of cooking it well done without it being dry, this is hard to do with tuna so i commend them on this. My mother said it was very good and she was able to sub out the mashers for spinach due to not being able to have many carbs at dinner and this was no problem. She was very pleased with her dinner, 8 out of 10. as per her review.

I had the rack of Lamb, came with Mashers and asparagus, it had ALOT of sauce on the plate, So much that when the server brought it to the table he had to be very careful to place it down, the plates they use are these very large flat plates, in my view it had way to much of the sauce it comes with which is sort of a meat sauce that is most likely made from render lamb fat and flavors from cooking. the Lamb was cooked med well, like i asked. But if i had to order it again I would not, and not because it was not good, it just was not worth the work to cut the meat off it and you don't really get much for the money, if you really like lamb you will like this, the last time i had it was over 6 years ago in California and it was seared and really great so i had nostalgia from that exp, this was not cooked the same way. Next time id most likely go with a ribeye steak.

We did not get desert , however im pretty sure it would have been fine also.

One cool note is that being my mothers birthday they had a card waiting at the table wishing her a happy birthday and was singed by members of the staff. This is a nice touch and the first time I saw that at any establishment.

I would say its a place we will return to and added to our list of places to eat in the area and that is was more middle of the road for me then Spectacular however I am not easily impressed. Give it a try , perfect place for a date and a nice night out.

Also they are members of Open table and it made it really easy to make a reservation right from the yelp app, this was very handy.

This was the first time at this restaurant. My daughter has been there several times and siad I would like it. Well I did. I had the she crab soup  I was amazed at the amount of lump crab meat, very hearty but light and creamy, My entree was the filet mingon with  maytag blue cheese butter. The presentation was nice, it's always good when food looks and taste good. Dessert, the white chocolate bread pudding was very good. My dinner companion had the risotto rice balls, Her response," these people can cook"  Our waiter MIke was very attentive, he knew the menu and specials very well. Mike was able to provide details as it relates to the different sauces. We are planning to come at least once a month. The menu is not to extensive  (which is a good thing). I can't see why anyone would not enjoy themselves.  The addtional benefit unlike restauants in Towne Center  Va Beach parking is very accessible. I parked right in front of the restaurant. This will be my new "go to place".

I'm torn over what rating to give them considering the food was amazing but my experience wasn't that great.

My husband and I had booked reservations for Passion to celebrate our anniversary.  We arrived prior to our reservation time only to witness one of the employees give our table away to a duo that had not made reservations.  It was clear that it was our table that was given away because when he asked if they had reservations, they replied no.  To this he responded that it would be a 15-20 minute wait.  Seeing that they were disappointed, he told them to give them a minute to see what he could do.  He came back and told them he had a table for them.  We were next in line to be helped and let the owner, who was helping us, know we had reservations (we checked in 5 minutes prior to our time).  The owner confirmed it and went to check on our table.  She looked a bit perturbed after returning from the dining room and went to find the employee that seated the duo before us.  By their body language, it was clear that he had given away our table.  She came back to tell us that our table actually won't be ready for another 15 to 20 minutes and she was sorry for the inconvenience.  Unfortunately for them, this made them seem unprofessional to me and left me with a bad impression of them.

We had made the reservation at the given time because it was a week night and we work in the military.  We have early mornings during the work week and wanted to ensure we wouldn't be out too late.  Unfortunately, we weren't seated until 7:30 and didn't actually get our entrees until about 8:15-8:30 (though this was expected as they were rather busy that night).  It ended up being a late night for us any way.

The food, however, was amazing!  I decided to have the scallops au gratin.  The scallops were superbly cooked and quite large.  I enjoyed every bite and was not disappointed.  They truly have quality fine dining food.  Our waiter was also great and made sure to check on us frequently despite how busy they were.  I would definitely recommend them if you're looking for an amazing dinner.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be returning to celebrate any important occasions.  Though their food is fine dining, I expected the experience to be one of a fine dining restaurant as well.  This was not so since we felt completely overdressed in my heels and cocktail dress and my husband in his suit.  Many of the patrons were dressed really casually and some were even in jeans and t-shirts.  I guess this wouldn't have been a surprise had I seen Yelp that their dress code was casual.  Still, it felt far too casual for me, especially since I visited their website, not Yelp, and it gave a vibe that the dress code one expected to see was business casual .  Maybe I missed the memo on their site.  I think for future special occasions I'll have to look elsewhere because this did not feel like a place I would celebrate those occasions.  That's just my opinion, though.

On our eternal quest to Eat Well and Stay Non-rotund, my friend and I went to Passion on a slow week night. Our server Mike greeted us quickly and began this lovely diatribe of the night's specials. After expressing a need to eat light and fresh, we ordered the following to share: truffle mac and cheese, calamari, she-crab soup, and the full rack of lamb.

    Oh. My. God.

As a recent convert to fried cephalopod-dom, I was definitely up for some calamari. This particular treatment was "flash fried" and served with 3 dipping sauces: thai chili, garlic remoulade, and another one I didn't try. Thai chili won out! Flash frying gave it a flaky, lighter batter. Nice mix of tentacles [ugh!] and rings. The smaller version was served in a cocktail glass for $6. For only 2 extra, you get an entire plate. We totally went for plate.

The she crab soup was praised by our server and recently placed first in the Va Beach She Crab Soup classic. Soup had satisfying chunks of crab meat while broth came with a creamy, sweet tang. Too creamy for me, but friend liked it enough.

Last of note - our shared rack of lamb was plated separately in the kitchen. Such service! Unlike some other restaurants, there was no additional fee for shared plates. Each dish came with a dollop of mashed pots and asparagus. Chef's recommendation was med rare, which was our preference, but lamb came out a little bit more medium than rare. Oh well. A hefty serving, we each had about 5 "popsicles". ha!

As for fine dining dress code - my friend and I were totally dressed for success when we stopped by. Friend just got off work and was mad rocking some scrubs and sneaks. While there I was in my fantab flipflops and capris. We were showing up those peeps in their ties and dress shirts.

We will definitely be back - probably to try Paella on the Patio. good times.

Used a groupon here. I was very excited for a tapas restaurant within walking distance to our home. The food was not too bad. I think we were the only ones eating tapas style. We shared: antipasto, cheese plate, truffle Mac and cheese, filet sliders and vanilla creme brûlée. My husband also had she crab soup and the mini rack of lamb. He said the soup was very good but served too hot and the lamb was good but the mashed potatoes it came with were not. I did like everything we ordered.  I would like to try some other things next time. Maybe walk down there on a nice day and sit on the patio. Anyway, there was an air of pretentiousness.  I kept wondering if they knew we were in greenbrier still? Don't get me wrong, I'm a greenbrier native and I love it here, but it's no foodie hot spot. The waiter wouldn't take the groupon and our card before we saw the check. He brought us out the pre-groupon check then run the groupon then give us the post-groupon check, which I think is a waste of time. We are those people that dont need to see our bill and just hand over our card. I really wanted to say "dude you will get 20% of our non-discounted bill as your tip, so don't ruin it!" but I did not. Besides that, it was a nice evening and we will come back eventually.

Went here with a couple of friends for dinner. After a couple of sna-foos, I tried the blackened scallops (a bit too spicy for me), the mac and cheese (YUM YUM) and the she crab soup (also very tasty). I think I would try this place again but maybe be a bit more cautious with my ordering.

The food was excellent.  We had the crab cakes, steak & risotto and the calamari as the app.  The Calamari came with 3 different sauces to dip and they were delicious.  I grew up in the neighborhood and never even knew it exhisted.  The atmosphere was very nice.  I will definately be going back.

We went here for a business dinner - we live pretty close and had NO idea this place was here, there's not a front sign or anything and it's tucked away in the corner.

The atmosphere is very nice.  However, the food wasn't.  I ordered the salmon.  It looked good, but tasted a bit underdone.  I only ate half of it and was sick for 2 days after.  My husband had the lamb, and he ate all of it and was still hungry - there was barely any meat on it!

Dessert, however was the one saving grace.  The Passion Cake was amazing.

Bad, bad, bad! Paid 14 dollars for a lunch crab cake sandwich made with mostly filler that was dwarfed by a dry old bun. Then topped with the remaining wilted lettuce from the Caesar salad that was so drenched in vinegar that it was not edible. After complaining about the salad, it was replaced by a chicken and dumping dish that was balls of uncooked dough constructed of overly seasoned turkey stuffing. Defiantly not passionate about this joint that I assume will go out of business soon like so many over priced poorly run restaurants that once occupied this location.

    FOOD: 5 yummies
We started by splitting a bowl of their award winning she crab soup. Heavenly! Rich, creamy with a delicate crab flavor. Truly the best I have ever tasted! This was followed by the BLT salad of various greens topped with diced tomatoes and fresh bacon, all presented atop an English muffin type bread. The ingredients by themselves are not impressive, but the dressing just made the salad quite flavorful. My husband also enjoyed his salad. I can't remember its name, but it included fruit. My main course was pistachio crusted tuna with melon and garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The tuna was superb! It was moist and flavorful. It's surprising how the combination of tuna, melon and garlic is thrilling. My husband had crab cakes. Now I have to say that I have never cared for them because the fillers are not that good. However, these are made with only 5% filler and they were delicious (we always share our food, double the pleasure). Although we were really full and don't usually have dessert (I'm ultra selective of I indulge), creme bruele is my favorite by a mile. So we split the Tri Brule, raspberry, tropical and vanilla. We didn't care for raspberry, it was like yogurt. The tropical was enjoyed by my husband as I LOVED the traditional vanilla (shocking for a chocoholic). The presentation of each dish was a work of art! Lots of ooooos and ahhhhhs!!
    ATMOSPHERE:
What a relaxing, cozy and comfortable space. We dressed up for our anniversary but others were wearing casual non blue jean dress. Loved the photography and paintings from local artists on display.
    SERVICE:
Excellent! Our server was exceedingly knowledgeable about the ingredients and preparation of each dish. Each course was served at a relaxing pace and at a nice temperature. Very well done!
    TIPS:
+Don't let the strip mall scare you. Let the food surprise you.
+ Don't let the price scare you. We're going back again to just have the soup, salad and maybe cream brule, of we're not too full.
+ Overall fabulous...for large celebrations, romantic meals or intimate get away conversations!

I still can't sort out my opinion of Passions.  Our entrees were excellent: the chef understood what "very rare" meant.  I really liked the pickled (chow chow?) side dish that served as a palette cleanser of sorts.  It was like nothing I've ever had before, and I appreciate the inventiveness.  On the other hand, our tuna appetizer had very little flavor, and the herb/salt mixture the server created to go along with olive oil for bread was so salty it was almost inedible (even for me, and I LOVE salt).
My main source of confusion, however, was the service.  They were out of at least four different wines (three that we tried to order before we were told of at least one more that was gone), plus two more I ordered that were the wrong vintage.  The waiter gave me the standard "vintages vary with availability" line, but if it took this many attempts to get what is on the menu, something is wrong.  I could overlook this at a cheaper restaurant, but if I'm walking out with a triple digit bill, spend the ten cents to reprint the paper wine list so that it matches what's behind the bar.  Now I'll give them credit for offering us a $100 bottle for half price for the inconvenience, but what they offered wasn't even of the same varietals that we had been trying to order.  Plus, the owners were hovering around the dining area and could see there was a problem, but never tried to step in and help and maybe offer an apology.
On top of this, the waiter didn't offer to tell us what the specials were until we asked, and if he didn't know the answers to our questions, he never volunteered to find out.  He also brought me my bill for me to double-check that it was correct.  I guess it's good he asked if he was confused, but I still can't figure out why he would have been confused in the first place.
So to sum up, we had mostly excellent food, poor service, and a guess-and-check wine list.  I admit this is a pretty pretentious review, but again, a $140 tab has to come with more than just great food.  Would I go back?  Maybe.  They have some cool cooking classes and chef's tastings, plus a half-priced wine night that would be great if they were actually stocking their wines.  They also have cigar days on their patio, which could be nice in the spring and fall.  But for what they charge, I don't think I want to go through the hassle again for a normal night out.

I'm way, way behind on my reviews of my trip up the east coast, so bear with me as I reconstruct my half-finished review:

What a welcome end to a long day of driving - and starting off in Savannah, GA, it was definitely a long day.  We decided to splurge on our dinner to pamper ourselves.  The jazzy hits and classics done live on piano, very ironic and tongue-in-cheek, were delightful. (said as Andy from The Office)  I think the jazz piano version of My Humps was my favorite song for a week.

Started out with a salad with quail egg that was fantastic, much better than I expected.

The truffle oil mac and cheese was outstanding, as JP noted.  I knew it was going to be good, but the flavor really was transcendent.

They didn't have anything vegetarian as an entree that night, but I asked what they might be able to put together, and I was pleasantly surprised at the "Vegan Tower" they put together - layers of chopped and julienned vegetables, tomato and portabella, in a savory sauce.  Couldn't have been better, and it was the bargain of the night.

I had the Paso Robles Merlot, which was an excellent choice.  Miles from Sideways would cringe, but I wasn't disappointed.

And to the reviewer below who references someone ELSE'S experience, and copies from Urbanspoon to boot, I think you just broke some rules.  Go there yourself, or tell your friend to get a Yelp account!  Were they even at the same place!?

I can't count all the reasons I love my iPhone, but finding places like this gem in a sea of chain restaurants is definitely one of them.  I have to admit, I am sometimes wary of places in strip malls, but this place blew my mind.  I started with a glass of wine and a warm spinach salad.  The salad was AMAZING, I ate it very quickly.  Rarely can a restaurant get the balance of fruit, nuts and dressing perfect.  This salad was perfectly put together.  I also ordered the ahi, rare, which always worries me a bit.  It came out perfect, tasted delicious blackened and the crawfish sauce was to die for.  The portion was also generous, I was full after only half.  After reading some of the other reviews on urbanspoon, I just had to save room for dessert.   I went with my waiters recommendation of Bread Pudding.  Although the dessert tasted pretty good, the temperature was not consistant throughout.   I sent it back, but it came back out, and still was not consistant in temperature.  Even thought it tasted delicious, warm around the outsides and cooler in the middle sort of ruins it-- unless you are eating steak.  I wish I would have skipped dessert, but the dinner was still so wonderful, I will give it four stars.

Even having growing up on the East coast, I never really traveled up and down that side of country. That being said, I never had the joy of really good crab cakes. I was on a mission.

We arrived late in Chesapeake, and for a minute I was worried most restaurants would be closed. We found Passions open, and I was a bit skeptical of it's location in a pseudo strip mall. We showed up around 9:30 and I prayed their kitchen was open since I knew they served some great seafood according to their menu.

There was a lounge singer up front singing cheezy jazzy versions of today's hits or classics from the 80s. She had a great sense of humor about her job and from what we could hear the crowd loved her.

Our server was wonderful, chatty, sincere and a master at her job. I ordered the She Crab soup and it was heavenly. It was probably the richest, most decadent (read: fatty) soup I've had in a while. It was worth every calorie. If the yummy lumps of crab in there were an indication of my crab cakes, I was going to be a happy girl. I also had the scallop caprese salad which was a bit salty for my taste, but not like anything I'd tasted before.

My crab cakes came as I was already stuffed to the gils (har har) but I pushed on.

They didn't disappoint- very little filler, chunks of crab and had some nice weight to them, which went immediately to my waistline.

Our wine was decent, but we weren't there to take advantage of their wine event, tastings or special offers. I wanted crab, people. And I got it.

I also have to mention the truffle oil mac and cheese the boy got. OH MY GOD it's good.

I found everyone in the restaurant to be warm and welcoming, even close to closing on a Friday night. My boyfriend and I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant and relaxing evening after an entire day of driving.

Don't let the name fool you- its great for a girls night out, a date night, a business dinner, etc. This is JUST what Chesapeake needs. A place where you can get a wonderful bottle of wine with an excellent dinner. The service was great. The owner was friendly and interested in our feedback. I hate driving to downtown Noroflk or VB for a good dinner, and this was right down the street and even better than having to travel. We had the shrimp and grits appetizer and the special appetizer- both great. I had the filet with blue cheese and my friend had the duck- both fabulous dishes. We ordered a bottle of wine at our waiters suggestion- wonderul.  Was very impressed.

My husband and I have eaten there, and we certainly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We had the grits and shrimp and that was a first. If you like good food and some really nice wine, stop by and try Passion Restaurant & Wine and Bar.

Wasn't impressed at all. I was eager to go here after reading an article in a local magazine that really talked it up and I was excited to go and experience something new. Well, when I called to make reservations, no one answered the phone. So we decided to just drive by and see if we could get a table. When we walked in, NO ONE was sitting down at a table, but the bar was pretty full. We told the hostess we needed a table for two and she then asked us if we had reservations. When we told her that we didn't, she said "I'm sorry, it's reservation only". Now keep in mind that there was no one in their dining room, and they're going to turn down customers? Well when we started to walk out, the chef actually came from around the back and called us back in and sat us himself. As far as the food goes, was not impressed at all. I ordered the filet, and it was not cooked as I specified, and the food pairings just didn't seem to work together. You know how sometimes the chefs try to get tooo creative? Well, that's what it appeared to be, they were trying too hard and just messed it up. The flavors were not very good in the mixture they had created. On top of that, I had to wait forever to get a refill of wine! And I really didn't understand what took so long seeing as we were the only ones in there!! Please, take it from me, do not waste your time or your money!

We went to Passion because we were looking for ANY place in Chesapeake that wasn't a chain. To our surprise, they're conveniently located in the shops at Greenbrier shopping center on Volvo Parkway. Inside, the decor is beautiful. A nice bar area up front and a romantic dining room with colorful artwork and pottery from local artists.

Our server, Dave, who is also the sous chef, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and a good sport, as we definitely gave him challenging requests all night. He picked out some excellent wine selections for us. And on that note, they have an outstanding wine/glass list, wine tastings on Tuesdays, and wine flights on Wednesdays. We really couldn't believe we were in Chesapeake, this is such a cool place.

We both had light apps prior to coming so weren't incredibly starving, so we opted for their salads. My friend had the chef salad, which was plentiful and full of egg and grilled chicken and other random veggies. My passion salad was pretty good, but not much protein, so I decided to get their famous black & white truffle mac and cheese as well. Now I've had the best truffle mac & cheese of my life at Vintage Kitchen before so this had some tough competition, but I must say, it was pretty close!

Their main courses looked very good and fresh, I definitely would like to go back and try them out. We were too full for dessert but they had a mascarpone cheesecake i was DYING to order. They also had a chocolate layered creme brulee that i imagine must have been out of this world.

Overall, we were totally and completely impressed. Perhaps being open a little under a year keeps this place more of a hidden gem, but I am dying to go back and try other things. They also do wine & cooking classes for a reasonable price. We even signed up for the next class on March 26th. I'll keep you posted!
