I had to take the time to counteract Vanessa V's childish 1 star rating. This place is great and has a different vibe every night of the week. It usually feels very comfortable, as long as it's not too packed.  The bartenders are all professionals.  Why would  a bartender say something like that? They work for tips.  Your friend is either a liar or an asshole.  And you were too drunk to drive that night so your version of events is highly questionable.  That bartender you slander is as professional as bartenders get, which makes your post even more dubious.
Review Source:this place is a a dive bar with a fancy liquor menu. Â from the douchbags hanging around outside, to the creeps lurking inside...all the way to the inadequate and rude bartenders. Â I havent been here in months and there's good reason why. Â Its tiny, jam packed with horny college students and creeps trying to bring girls home, oh ya and the bartenders are absolute morons. Â What bar serving alcohol makes fun of the DD when they ask for water? Â They told our friend to "go drink water from the rain puddles" Â they said some other rude things then ignored him and walked away. Â When I said something they told me he was a liar and that never happened.. Â This was Ricky the bartender and his idiot of a barback. Â Ricky the bartender is an absolute JOKE
Review Source:I like cleanliness and the Pearl Lounge is definitely sleek, modern and clean. Too bad I can't say the same thing for some of the folks that drop by. And it's not like a bar where everyone is just chillin with their drink at a table. It's a lounge... meaning, you get some of the stankiest people dancing on the dance floor... do you know what that means? It means their BO gets exponentially worse while their jamming out to the latest top 40.
Other than that, it's a good place to visit if you want to feel like you're somewhere like the Bay  Area... which I often do because I miss home from time-to-time.
The biggest selection of vodkas and tequilas in Humboldt  Tons of mixed drinks and the only booty shaken high heel wearing  spot in Eureka.  If you want to go get your groove on and pop a bottle of cristal then this might be your only choice for a few hundred miles...  Yes it is tiny, yes it is cheesy, yes its filled with douche bags,  yes I still go there on occasion, because its the only choice.  I have a good time wherever I go, but if your always nitpicking, complaining, and comparing then you might not like it here.   Get over yourself and realize that you are in the middle of the redwoods in a tiny little community and the fact that a place like this is even here, is amazing... Make the best with what you have around you.  Did I mention they have hundreds of tequilas to choose from.
Review Source:I went here only once to listen to my boyfriend's father perform. The acoustics were good and the seats were comfortable. Drinks were mixed well though pricey and the bartender was pleasant. The place was crowded with people that I wouldn't usually socialise with but ultimately it just wasn't my scene. If I were in the area again, I might stop by if I had a reason but not just to check out the bar agin.
Review Source:Pearl Lounge is definitely upscale... a good spot if you are planning a night out with friends and you want to do it up big. By big I mean dressing up and spending a lot of money, cause Pearl is not cheap. However, it has a nice atmosphere, and is unique for Eureka. Worth a visit for a special occasion or after a fancy dinner, but if you want to get drunk I would head a little further downtown.
Review Source:I'm a man of peace, a lover, not a fighter, but places like this reduce me to wanting to get my fight on. Â That's not a bad thing. Â Sometimes it's nice to slug someone's skull--- or get knocked on your ass.
So, I'm an ancient HSU grad, but I come back to area a time or two. Â For a recent trip, I was there with a gaggle of homies. Â We wanted to go out for a night (Saturday night, that is), so one of our local friends recommended the Pearl. Â
FROM THE OUTSIDE:::
It was a mixed bag. Â The bar front was stylishly modern and metal. Â But the douchebaggery, hipster-ness, and knuckle-headed-dom observed outside on the street did not bode well.
ON THE INSIDE:::
It was worse. Â Yes, they had a dancefloor and some danceable music was spinning, BUT it was too packed! Â I mean seriously. Â It was freakin' hard to breathe in there, much less maneuver. Â Miraculously, some of the scouts in my group were able to negotiate some chairs & a table (a high point). Â But I swear, there were several times when I said to myself, "Is Corey G gonna have to slap a fool?" Â (a la Wayne Brady from Chappelle Show).
I bit my lip and fought the urge. Â Instead....
We hit the dance floor. Â Yes, music DOES soothe the savage beast.
So yeah, if you can hit it here on a less crowded night, I'm sure this place is alright, just beware of the hecka-crowded nights (because my fist might be flying your way!). Â ;)
Even before walking in, we encountered cute little twenty year-old things dressed for a fun night out. Once inside, there were more.
A Chris Brown song blasted and video projected on the far wall, near the dance floor. I sat for a moment on a nice cushy seat thing before exchanging glances with my significant other. We admired some of the attire before getting up and searching for some place more diverse in age.
If you're looking for all cute little twenty-somethings, put on something that makes you look fetching and go on with your bad self.
Definitely a great after work place to meet up. You definitely get a good serving of alcohol for how much you pay. The decor is not what you typically find in Humboldt County.
Be careful when you go there on crowded nights. The Pearl isn't designed for a good traffic flow...you might have to bump into a few people to get from one end to the other. It's narrow!
This is probably the nicest bar in Eureka, in terms of cleanliness and presentation. It's got a great location, right in the heart of Old Town, next door to Hurricane Kate's restaurant. One of the perks of their location is that you can order food from both Kate's and the neighboring Hotel Vance restaurant, called The Lobby, and they'll bring it to you in the bar. Crucial for those drunk munchies! The drinks are a touch over-priced, but you kinda expect it in a place that swanks it up like Pearl does. Don't know the bartenders' names, but the young brunette is very kind, struck up a conversation about the lack of manners in people these days, ha ha ha. The black-haired guy bartender is also very friendly. A little awkward at times, but very nice and amiable. I do plan on returning here.
Review Source:Love the bar tenders but other then that I had a really bad experience here.....
Never going here again.... word to the wise the security guards here are unprofessional and they will mess with you, bar gets shut down a lot because of fights, and quite often woman are treated badly here. I liked this bar a lot because I wanted to have a cool place to go dance but I rather never deal with what I went through again.
I recommend Nocturnum on Wed. nights for dancing and the Alibi on Fri and Sat night if you wanna go dancing in Eureka.
I have been visiting Pearl Lounge since they opened a few years ago. Â My favorite thing about this establishment is that they are constantly improving it. Â They listen to their patrons and welcome good, constructive criticism. Â When they first opened, they had these high chairs at the bar that were impossible to get out of gracefully (especially after a few drinks!) and now they have the great swivel chairs. Â They added mirrors after that which made the place feel larger, then added a stage for performers and now they even have a super cool screen behind the stage where they play some really cool pictures. Â If I had reviewed this lounge two years ago I would have given it three stars but the fact that they keep making it better prompts me to give it five stars. Â The service is great, there may be no better bartender in town than Cordelia. Â Ian is fantastic as well and he is great at inventing new drinks (actually, so is Cordelia) if you give him a vague description of what you would like. Â The people at the door are always friendly and they have great DJ dance nights on the weekends. Â Great place to take a date or business associates. Â There's no place in town like this. Â It is good for getting dressed up and dancing or looking casual and sipping a martini with a friend at the back couch. Â Oh, and the martinis are fantastic! Â I almost forgot to mention the liquor! Â Such a great variety! Â The bartenders are good at recommending good liquors and new ones to try. Â Great place, great people. Â The only suggestion I have is that they need a coat rack! Â Or, hooks under the bar for your coat and purse. Â And, I am not sure what is up with the low part on the side of the bar near the door. Â My friends and I concluded that maybe it was a low bar for wheelchairs? Â Or a baby changing station.
Review Source:Always a very cool, smooth place for  good drinks (especially high end Tequilas)....before or after where ever you might be headed....Or you might just want to hang in Pearl Lounge's surroundings for awhile and enjoy some jazz....friendly people and good conversation....As well as good food next door at Hurricane Kate's or nearby Carter House.
Review Source:After reading some of the mixed reviews here I wasn't sure what to think of the Pearl. I ended up performing there yesterday and couldn't have had a better time. Good drinks, nice staff, comfortable environment and great ambiance.
Contrary to Pablo's previous one star review, I found the acoustics to be surprisingly good. There is, indeed, a stage, but alas, no true P.A. system. The bartender (or -tendress) is required to adjust microphone volume levels from behind the bar and there are only two mic inputs. Also, they didn't have microphones or stands. Just a caveat. You may very well have to bring your own.
All that having been said, the design, layout and aesthetic of The Pearl Lounge is non-peril; stainless steel through and through. I was extremely impressed and am already looking forward to the next trip through Eureka.
A nice swanky lounge. Great Martini's. The staff has improved greatly. When they first opened in December 2005, the girls who worked there had a 'tude' bigger than  Mt. Everest. Glad some of them were knocked out of the bar..it prevented me from returning until recently.
The acoustics  are so-so. The bar design is very elegant and different with it's recycled glass in the concrete bar.. They have a ladies night. They have cool bands and believe it or not, I like going there Sunday afternoons. the bar is quiet and my husband and I get to know whatever bartender is working. Hard to make a living as a Sunday bartender.
Nice place for adults! Nice for Eureka.
Let me tell you a little story about Humboldt County. No, not just Humboldt County, but all of the northern coast of California; from northern Sonoma County to the Oregon border. In this region of our great state, there are not too many choices in the way of nightlife. There are quite a few dive bars in this vast expanse of America, varying in drink selection and scuzziness. Some of the dives are good; with large selections of drinks and beers, and some are not so good; with nothing but a few paltry choices of American macro-lager crap. Some of the dives are relatively clean, with a decent crowd of people; yet many of the dives have nothing mare than a few cirrhosis-laden burnouts drinking away their last few years on this earth. Pretty depressing. For a young man born in San Francisco, in his early twenties, this situation leaves a great void in what could be his prime years for enjoying metropolitan nightlife.
There isn't much around here, this is true... But it doesn't have to be. There are many people here who aren't satisfied with just having old dives to spend the night at. Many people want somewhere cool to go on a Saturday night. They want somewhere that is relaxed, yet classy. Somewhere with a full bar, upscale vibe, and maybe even some live music or DJs... Somewhere just like the hip lounges of San Francisco, LA, and elsewhere. I know that Humboldt County has many of these people, and thankfully such a place now exists for them to call their own- This place is Pearl Lounge.
I would like to personally thank the investors/owners who made Pearl Lounge possible. This part of the country was in dire need of a cool and hip lounge, modern and classy, and thankfully now has one (right in the middle of Old Town Eureka.) Pearl has been completely redone from whatever it was before, now completely clad in stainless steel and glass brick, inside and out; from the entrance all the way back to the bathrooms. Absolutely beautiful. They have a full liquor bar, as well as wine and beer.
Pearl Lounge has over 160 different Tequilas. Yes, they do.
The lounge has some nice sitting areas adjacent to the seats at the bar, as well as a more private table next to the main entrance. The lighting is very low, as well as perfectly placed. Prices are reasonable, my Macallan 12 was $7. The service is good, our bartender didn't get irritated with all of my stupid questions. Everyone there was decently dressed and groomed (something you don't see all the time in Humboldt,) as well as properly behaved. The vibe at Pearl definitely is sophisticated but casual, relaxed, just like I hoped it would be. The background music was a relaxing yet upbeat lounge/club style... live bands and DJs play there every so often as well. The last Saturday night that I went, there was a cover charge of $5 after 10.
Bottom line: There is no upscale lounge like this for hundreds of miles, It has been done perfectly, and makes this displaced Bay Area boy feel right at home. That deserves 5 stars.
