Pizzeria Ora

If I were rating them on their calamari, they would be getting 4 stars, but I went for the pizza. Unfortunately, Pizzeria Ora does not meet up with the big boys of deep dish pizza in Chicago. Although Pizzeria Ora's pizza is tasty, I did not appreciate that most of its depth was dough. I was looking for more cheese and toppings. The decor and ambiance could have been a little nicer, as well.

Very convenient (I was staying at the Best Western).  However, the thin-crust pizza could have used more flavor and the crust wasn't cooked well.  The salad was pretty bland (ice burg lettuce) but the dressing (house) was excellent.

All-in-all, very convenient when you're staying at the Best Western and it's pouring rain, but not the best choice otherwise.

Well i stopped here one afternoon after years of passing its dorrs . . not sure why, it just felt right today.  The place was so relaxing, such  a low key atmosphere, that I got all of the work I intended to do done (working lunch)  and also had a nice pizza and salad in the process. (deal:   $6.50 pizzza + salad)

I enjoyed the friendly employee who was handling the whole dining room and was very conversational.   Nobody rushed me out.

I love the pizza with a FLOUR and not a corn base.   How can I emphasize that a pizza should be made with a flour and not corn?????  Great taste, and a deal in terms of price.  Much better than the over hyped tourist-driven alternatives.  The lunch deals cannot be beat.  They offer 2.50 slices betweene 11-2.  Seriously?

I decided that this will be my new alternative to Portillo's, as it is more the total dining experience with enjoyable service personnel.  (Portillo's staff is great, but cannot compare on the whole . . . ,they have diminished in some areas, i.e. security , price, and serving wine and cocktais in plastic cups as opposed to the former glassware.  It's tacky.)

Guess I may become one o the regulars the bartender described as their normal  traffic.  Really enjoyed the experience.
