Came here once for a friend's birthday party and had a blast. They played a mix of current and 90s music which I love. The drinks were really expensive, but we got a free both and a server for the entire night so I did not mind it.
That experience is not why I'm giving it a low rating. I am giving it a low rating because I tried to call LPC multiple times to try to schedule my birthday party and NYE. Their number was not working and out of service. I also tried emailing their PR person and never got a response. Bad customer service was just a bad sign and I probably won't be back after that. Get a phone that works if you want business people.
This bar has been closed since August. It closed unexpectedly and didn't even tell it's employees why. It was fun while it lasted (well, the first floor at least). The second floor was always filled with sketchy dudes and skanky girls. The sign outside still says "Went to Lollapalooza... Meet us next door at English." Someone should tell them that Lollapalooza was in August, and they should probably take down that sign. The owner clearly doesn't care about this place.
Review Source:For a while, it used to pain me to say that I liked LaSalle Power Co because it wasn't really my scene. Then I got over myself and realized that fun is fun, no matter what location or "scene". Please kick me if you ever read or hear me ranting about scenes. Unless it's about my hatred for all things TBOX related, then just let me go with that one.
Yes, it's pretty much your typical River North bar with typical people who frequent River North bars...but I've actually always had a decent time here, believe it or not! Yes, the dueling pianos on the first floor tend to be pretty cheesy, as most dueling piano performances are. Yes, the other 2 floors are your typical crowded-top-40-song-playing-bass-thumping dance floors...but if you KNOW what you're getting yourself into, you can't really complain about it right?
Bonus points: showing up with a bachelorette party and getting free shots and shout outs from the KissFM DJs. Best believe my WHOO girl came out that night! Complete with a crooked tiara!
