Owners My Advice, CALL A RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT NIGHTMARE SHOW FOR HELP!
Arived to this attractive town excited to eat here, but shocked to find it almost empty at 1:15 pm. First notice about five tables one occupied And the rest not cleaned. Get to the counter to find very fresh pizza. The nicely colored scicilian with pepperoni looked great so I ordered a corner slice. And of course a Chicago Beef Sandwich with cheese. Still no clean tables, I wipe my table only partly to see if they care. They delivered the food and don't care. Very close on the left side of the aisle walkway, A 36 inch restroom door was wide open Toilet showing the whole time. Then a few men came in, ordered food, go to a table and back to counter asking for someone to clean the table. And what are employees doing " Nothing" I swear all true. The food: The scicilian taste and crust, not as good as it looked. I never had a Chicago sandwich before, Besides the hot Peppers not much flavor and a mild cheese like mozzarella doesn't help.
Large portions and solid food all around. Meatballs are the best I've found in the area, but could still use a little more spice. Why does every so called "Italian" in this area cook such bland food? Thank you Re Napoli for renewing my faith in finding a simple meatball and marinara that doesn't taste like it came from a cafeteria!
Review Source:I came to ReNapoli specifically to try their pizza and Italian beef sandwiches and was not disappointed. The chef takes great pride in crafting the pizza and it came out amazing. The Italian beef sandwich was also amazing, just as good as anything I have had in Chicago. I will definatly return.
Review Source:After a long week at work this is the perfect place for a quick bite to eat and it is BYOB. Â I stared with meatballs served in a cast iron pan, followed by a garden salad with 60 day aged Buffalo mozzarella cheese and their homemade Balsamic Vinaigrette. We finished with the Margarita pizza and the hot oil as a table top condiment. Â Pizza a bit small for $16 but well worth it.
Review Source:I gotta admit, I had an enormous preconceived notion about this place walking in the door. Here comes another feces-don't-smell pizza nerd, slapping buzzwords on his otherwise unremarkable pies like "artisan," "sustainable," "free-range," and "farm-to-table," and charging five dollars more to do so...
WRONG. Dead, flat, utter, complete, abject wrongness. Face hath been egged, the grapes taste sour, and crow is for dinner. Re Napoli is without a doubt world class non-traditional pizza. Yes, it's a little more expensive, but the money is actually well spent.
Indeed, this place has found a way to UN-pretentiously serve smashingly unique food that will have you coming back on a weekly basis. Well, it's a little snobbish, ain't gonna lie. But it's darn good. I had the coppa pizza, with an Italian ham, shaved caciacavallo cheese (whatever the hell THAT is), and sweet peppers. Yum.
Chicago beef is excellent too. I mean, it's a beef sandwich that reminds you of a French Dip, but it's nice. Served dipped, juicy or soaked. That's right, these sandwiches have moisture options... never thought I'd see the day that such a thing was available.
Talk about a business that knew its market coming in. Re Napoli accepted the challenge of the glass ceiling otherwise known as the Old Greenwich Elite, and has blasted through it with a jackhammer.
We received a flier in the mail and my boyfriend immediately noticed "CHICAGO" and was sold. He is originally from there and her LOVES Italian beef. Of course we were a bit skeptical...but we decided to give it a try anyway! The italian beef did NOT disappoint him and he absolutely loved it. I am not a fan of them so I ordered a pizza and it was great. The sauce had a lot of flavor, the crust a little too hard for me, but overall it was a great! The staff wasn't very attentive at first...but they became helpful later on. I'm glad we decided to try this place out and I will be back!!
Review Source:I was doing a television job in the area a number of months back, and a few of us came to this gem of a pizzeria for lunch.
I'm not even sure I qualify to give a review of this place, since I'm gluten intolerant and can't have the pizza. Â But the owner made me an arugula salad that was so amazing I was raving about it the whole day, and the next. Â I mean, a salad is a salad, right? Â No, no, it's really not!
The arugula and other ingredients were all very fresh, with lemon, sea salt and an exquisitely fruity variety of olive oil, and it had fresh plump white anchovies that were juicy and absolutely delicious. Â (If you are thinking about the salt cured type of anchovies when you are reading this, you are way off. Â Fresh are totally different.) Â The salad also had burrata on it, which was absolutely amazing and creamy (fresh mozzarella with cream). Â I think this must have been at my request as the anchovy plate on the menu does not normally have burrata.
My companions raved about the pizza. Â The owner talked to us quite a bit and was telling us about his travels and studies of the most quality ingredients and the craft of pizza-making in Italy and other places including some of the most famous pizzerias in the world. Â He then co-founded the International School of Pizza, which is backed by the oldest, most respected pizza school in the world (Scuola Italiana Pizzaioli in Caorle, Italy). Â He clearly has an intense interest and dedication to the subject. Interestingly, he told us that the best flour for pizza making is actually not found in Italy, but in Canada (! Â you can read about that on the restaurant website).
I was really sad that I couldn't try the pizza, after hearing him talk about it.
my new favorite pizza place! Â went this weekend about hearing rave reviews -- and it lived up to its billing! Â tried the new york style pizza (the crust is delicious!) and the calabrese (the real reason to come here). it was so good my husband has asking to go back ever since.
note that the place is small -- probably has only 4 tables.
their thick NYC pizza (ramano??) is awesome. they sell it by the slice (square). crunchy bottom crust, but fluffy above.. with great tasting sausage and pepperoni.
also great is their itailian beef sandwiches. but $9 in greenwich vs $5.50 at al's in chicago.
i tried their artisinal thin crust pizza, really wanted to like them (seem to put a lot of effort into the ingredients and oven, etc), but i found the crust too thin relative to the toppings/sauce, and ends up pretty soggy (even eating there fresh out of the oven). also dissapointed with what they called a muffalata, which is nothing at all like you'd get in NOLA.
anyway - i highly reccomend this place for the thick pizza and beef alone.
I've heard about pizzas like the ones at ReNapoli but here was the first place I've tried one. Â I've ordered the margarita pizza multiple times since then. Â I love the fresh tasting ingredients and the taste that the wood fired oven gives the crust. Â In fact, everything that composes this pizza tastes like the highest quality available.
Don't let the prices fool you -- The pizzas are small. Â It's not what you would expect for $16. Â I can just about eat one by myself. Â Even though, this doesn't stop me from ordering one on a special occasion. Â I don't know of another place nearby that I can get a pizza like this one, so until then I will happily continue visiting ReNapoli. Â
5-stars for the pizza, and 3-stars for the prices. Â That averages out to the 4-star rating.
OMG! Can you say, "fresh", "delicious", "decadent", "outrageous" about the humble pizza? Yes! The thick and chewy yet flavorful crust of the sweet fig preserve, prosciutto, gorgonzola  with balsamic glaze slice had me at the first bite. The white pizza slice was quite enough for one dinner and it felt quite elegant with the finely shaved pieces of parmigiano on top. I finally tried the Chicago Italian Beef combo with the housemade sausage last Friday and, Mama Mia, what a burst of flavor! I highly recommend you treat yourself.
Review Source:RéNapoli Pizzeria & Chicago Italian Beef opened three weeks ago in Old Greenwich at the old home of Beyond Bread.
This pizzeria sells three styles of pizza: Napoletana, New York , and Romano. Not to mention, they've also got a couple award-winners.
I tried the traditional Chicago Italian Beef sandwich with a quick dunk. It was actually pretty good, especially for it being my first Chicago Italian Beef. The bread was soft, from the dunk. The meat was flavorful. You can taste the Italian spices in it. And the giardiniera had some kick, coming from the pickled hot peppers.
The Margherita pizza was excellent. The dough was soft and the crust was crunchy and not too thick. The sauce was amazing. The cheese was excellent too. All in all, the perfect ingredients/attributes for a perfect pizza. I was impressed. I'm sure their pasta dishes must be great.
I thought it was just going to be another pizza/deli type place. Â I thought the combination of pizza and Chicago-style Italian Beef Sandwiches would ensure that.
But then the rumors start coming out. Â The dude who started it was the only non-Italian person to win some major pizza competition in Naples. Â And he's won some U.S. awards.
And then they give out some free pizzas on the day of their soft opening. Â And they are frickin amazing.
How did the residents of the OGR section of Greenwich (Old Greenwich Riverside) get so darn lucky?
This is world class pizza. Â Â 3 types: Roman, Naples and NYC. Â Different ovens and flour blends for each pie. Â 5-6 different types of mozzarella. Everything stems from the mind of some obsessed pizza chef who just made my life very happy.
My fav is the Nolita (NYC-style). Â My fav Naples-style are the Coppa and the Trianon. Â
And these are the only three I've had.
Can't wait to try the Italian beef sandwiches....
