While on business last month in Boise, visiting my coffee shop client, I met up with a girlfriend and we checked out this Lounge.

My cocktail was great - I would give that drink 4 stars for sure. But other than that, the experience wasn't great :(

The waitress was flighty - They weren't super busy, so would have thought we'd get better service. We ate late, at like 8pm, but she didn't visit our table much.

I wasn't too impressed with the menu - I opted for a burger which was dry.... Had to smother that sucker in ketchup.

Next time I head to Boise - next month  - I won't be choosing this place.

Excellent food, atmosphere and service. Local food, fantastic drink choice and my personal favorite butterscotch beignets. Delicious!

New decor great - new menu stinks.  Miss choices - yes, there are no choices now.  They cut back the menu too much - only salad is a kale side salad.  RF was one of my fav choices in Boise - will not go back. There were very people in the place for dinner - that says it all.

Although, I am still not impressed with the food I do think the drinks here are fantastic. They mix better drinks than many upscale bars I have visited in NYC, Chicago, Seattle, and definitely anywhere else in Boise (except maybe The Modern).

The food has improved since my last review, but is still pretty boring. However, they do tend to burn it less often when I order now. Basically, I give it four stars for drinks alone.

I've always had great food & drinks here. Interesting cocktails & inventive menu at decent prices. My faves: grilled kale caesar, spicy lamb burger, eggs benedict, mona ramsey & fuzzy leopard cocktails and fine-ass bloody marys too! Good happy hour too.

Great evening thanks to the staff, the prices, the beer, and the fare.
Atmosphere was very cool, dark, hip and quiet.

    Highly recommended!

Had my first visit here while celebrating a friends 50th birthday.  It was amusing to watch the staff see us 'older' ladies and assume we'd be offended by the loud music!  We let them know we were old, not dead, and that we were enjoying the music.  We sat in a booth across from the bar.  We started with the Poutine appetizer.  Wonderful fresh cut fries with an extremely flavorful turkey gravy, along with cheese curds and a green onion garnish.  The three of us were all but fighting for the last bite!  Our entrees,  the hummus, honey mustard Ham and Swiss sandwich, and Huntsmans burger arrived fresh and we agreed that all were quite tasty!  Beware the spicy cucumber with the hummus though.. it's tasty but sneaky in spice!
Because it was our friends celebration, she was granted a free dessert, and we added another on for all of us to share.  OMG, the fresh beignets with hot butterscotch dipping sauce and chocolate caramel cake are TO DIE FOR.

We laughed, we feasted and boy did we enjoy it!  The cost for three of us was under $60.  We plan a return, and hope to see the same great helpfulness and cheer in the staff as we saw last time.

Second time coming here, and there are better options down the street.  Service was spotty and big problems in kitchen.  Ordered a simple meal, steak and potatoes......1st round, steak was perfect, everthing else including the plate were cold.  Sent back, free round of cocktails and another 20 minutes go bye and see yet again another perfect steak and potatoes that were "ICE COLD" on all three meals.  They have some problems in the kitchen at this place.  Maybe they need to stick with pizza and salads.  A much better choice is FORK right down the street.  Better food and better bang for your buck.  On the positive, cocktails  are good and I would go to Red Feather for this only.

Super cozy and yummy! This joint is apparently known for it's selection of cocktails (53?), which I didn't try, but I may go back before I leave. You can obtain a cocktail stamp book and once you've tried and gotten a stamp for all the cocktails, you get a $50 credit to the bar! They serve locally sourced food...I had the spicy lamb burger with kale salad. The burger was actually spicy with grilled jalapenos! It was also topped with a delicious creamy sauce, fried onions and feta cheese. Not too big, not too small...perfect portions. The kale salad was their take on a Caesar with asiago cheese shaved on top. Really good...crunchy and fresh with a great flavor. I tried a glass of local ID Cabernet, but I wasn't too impressed. It tasted like bell pepper.

I travel.  A lot.  And when I travel, I typically try to find good local spots to wet my whistle or fill my belly, or both.

Looking for a solid mixology cocktail lounge, in any city?  The bar (no pun intended) is set high by famous stalwarts like bourbon and branch (San Francisco), the Pegu Club (NYC), and newbie sensations like single barrel (San Jose), and numerous others that are popping up around the country durning this glorious cocktail revival.

All the ingredients are their, literally.  They have an assortment of bitters, both commercial and house made that will get any cocktail guy excited, and all the classic liquors needed to make, well classic cocktails.

Mix in a knowledgable and adventurous bartenders, and a menu that you can keep that includes all the recipes, and you have a recipe for a great cocktail bar.

The decor delivers as well, sleek and sexy, with hints of the slick big city, combined with that unmissable local Boise charm.

An interesting food menu is present as well, but don't come if you are too hungry, this is a drinking joint, not an eating joint.  That being said, the food I've had has been good, just not really plentiful.  More fancy snacks than meals.

I'm not sure what else you would look for in a cocktail bar aside from prohibition bullet holes in the walls.  Must stop for any cocktail lover in Boise.

This place was special.  A nicely dark lounge (yes, it is a lounge) with amazing artisan cocktails.  I didn't eat any food, but after the drinks I didn't need to.  Red Feather was suggested to me by another nice restaurant.  I made the mistake of entering the door on the right, which took me to a pub.  Go in the door on the left to Red Feather.  I left the first night as I'm not a beer person.  I was told the next day by 3 locals that I *had* to go back as it was that good.  So back I went.
The drink menu here is amazing.  You look at it and think, they can't make all these that well.  I didn't ahve all of the drinks, but I did have two.  WOW.  Most cocktails were very reasonable priced at about $8.  The bartender I had, Katy, mixed amazing drinks and was a charming conversationalist.
It is challenging to imagine a trip to Boise without a drink at Red Feather.  Yes.  It is that good.

Each and every time I come to the Red Feather, I always start out with the Grilled Kale Cesar Salad. Talk about freakin' YUM. Quickly followed by whatever else grabs my eye which is usually 2-4 other items. I have never been disappointed by the meals and can say hands down this is my favorite restaurant in Boise.

Can't forget about the cocktails, these bartenders know what they are doing and once again, I have never been disappointed by a recommendation.

Try out the Milk & Honey cocktail!
    The Salmon is also delicious!

Favorite favorite favorite!!!!!! I'm a picky vegetarian and my dad is an eat anything dead. Family dinners here everytime I'm home. Chopped salad! I love that their beer menu has distance of how far the beer traveled to get there too.

Very good. Had an excellent dinner once in the spring during a visit to town and went again tonight to join their drinkbook club (kind of a around the world contest like you see at a lot of beer bars, but for cocktails). Prices are insanely good, considering the quality and the inventiveness (7-8 for well-made drinks; 13-19 for killer entrees). Great bar staff, hip ambiance, definitely in the upper echelon of Boise establishments for me so far.

One of my favorite places. Even in a small city like Boise it reminds me of New York. The atmosphere was very laid back and cool. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Everything I ordered was great. This is my absolute go to hang out when I'm visiting Boise.

We wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather on the last day of my mother in law's visit to Boise by having lunch downtown. One of our best bets seemed to be Red Feather Lounge/Bittercreek Ale House since I knew them to be fairly family friendly. We arrived after the lunch time rush so the patio wasn't particularly crowded, and we were pleasantly surprised to find out they have high chairs.

Our server was very friendly and accommodating, and I think she was handling the bar and the patio all by herself apart from a gentleman that helped to bring out orders. Regardless service was prompt and competent.

The cocktail menu is extensive with many unique offerings, but nothing stood out to me so I just ordered a Riesling. I also had a Bittercreek burger. It was tender and juicy, and as I said on my updated Bittercreek Ale House review the best "grown up" burger I've ever had.

The Red Feather side seemed less busy than the Bittercreek side, but I didn't notice much of a difference in ambiance or quality of service. You're golden either way.

Very interesting decor and ambiance... unique drinks (remind me of what some of the cool speakeasy bars in Austin, TX are doing) and decent prices.  I can't give them too many stars, as I haven't eaten there - but if their food menu is anything like bar menu, it will likely impress.  Really, any place that has a stairway lined with wine bottles impresses me.

Also got to meet several self-proclaimed rising-stars in the music world.  Who'da thunk it?!?

Definitely going there first, next time I'm in Boise.

We were impressed by the brunch menu and selection of bloody marys made with fresh tomato juice; including a tomatillo based Verde Mary.  I went duck eggs breakfast pizza with a side of cheddar hash.  Ashlee went with the huevos rancheros -  a staple of rating a good breakfast place; also chilaquiles can make or break a review.  Everything was great to include the service, fresh scones, and food temperature and timing.  When were in Boise again this is the first stop.

We stop into Red Feather for cocktails as often as we can. The place is usually hopping after 7ish, so we try to get there before 6. We sit at the bar so we can watch the mixologists do their stuff. The staff is friendly and are happy to suggest a cocktail for any taste.

We tried a couple of their apps during our last visit and were surprised at how good they tasted, as well as how salty they were. The poutine included fries that were crispy enough to hold up to the well seasoned gravy and bubbly melted cheese. But, the top layer of fries had an unbearable amount of salt.

The brandy-seared Halloumi is served with pickled apple slices and crispy bread/crackers and is very good. The salty of the cheese and the tartness of the apple are perfect. But, as we worked through the layers of components, the apples turned salty as well.

I really have nothing against salt. Both of these dishes were creative, well presented and far above the normal fare offered in a standard bar/lounge, but the salt was a bit heavy handed for my taste.

Still, great cocktails and fun food. Will be back to revisit other food offerings.

Although we were here several times for drinks during our visit, this review is for our only breakfast dining experience @ the Red Feather Lounge.

    Copy/Paste from this morning's chat:

Me: hey babe...i was going to do a review on the red feather lounge, but i can't even remember what i ate?
    Wife: hahaha
Me: i know right? must've not been as memorable as i thought.
Wife: you had the chorizo right? with that pancake type thing?
Me: oh. right. the huevos rancheros!
Wife: oh yes and mom had the chorizo quiche thing
    Me: what'd you have again?
Wife: biscuits & gravy not that great
    ....

My Rancheros: The fried eggs did not come with the usual corn tortilla base, but was served instead with corn cakes - for $9? Meh.

The Wife's $6.50 Biscuits & Gravy: typical, bland & uneventful.

    Mom-in-law's $6 Chorizo Quiche: dry.

Because of the outdoor seating, the front door is constantly open & the indoor diners are constantly "shooshing" flies from their tables. We were not excluded from the swatting activity.

1 extra star for good & friendly service & a delish Bloody Mary.

    Enough said? nuff sed!

Another deez® review & I approve this message...'cause ya'll really need to know.

Bread on sandwiches was too hard.

Other than that everything was great. Clam Chowder was tasty... I have had better.... Lovely Fresh Salad Yummy Ranch!! Everyone seemed to like there sandwiches.

Food came out at a decent time for a group of six. We sat on the patio good job of filling up our waters and drinks! Frendly staff without being intrusive :)

I don't even like fries very much and I tried my husbands... WOW VERY VERY GOOD FRIES TASTE FRESH AND REAL WITH A PERFECT CONSISTENCY.

    WILL BE BACK

Best authentic, old-timey cocktails you will find anywhere, if that's your thing, right down to the slow-melting spherical ice and metal straws.  I love a lavender fiz or a pisco sour when it's hot out and a manhatten when it's not.

They focus on locally sourced food and, for Boise Idaho, the menu is about as imaginative and interesting as it gets.  I recommend the grilled kale ceasar, the lamb burger, the seared halloumi, and the poached duck egg on polenta.

Came here w/my gf on one of our last nights in Boise b/c we were on the prowl for some serious cocktails, well at least I was, my gf just wanted wine.

Our experience here was complete awesomeness! The bartenders were really friendly and totally knew their craft of mixology and it truly shined through in my cocktails that I ordered during the evening. We also got a free cocktail book and a tour of the worm recycling area down below.

Hands down the best place in downtown Boise for a cocktail, no shit.

I needed one last stop in Boise for a cocktail before heading to the airport and back to Sea-town. My friend I was visiting insisted on going to this place - walking in i instantly loved it! Dim lighting, dark sexy coloring, comfy booths and a beautiful neon blue lit wine cellar to glance at. Unfortunately I can't name exactly what i had to drink because it was a menu concoction of Vodka, bitters, some sort of lemony taste & soda water.. it was delish!
My favorite part about this place were the metal straws that came in your drink, making every sip as cold and refreshing as the last! I got a laugh from the comment at the bottom of the menu nicely asking people to not steal the straws - but can buy them for 3$ if they want. : ) they were THAT cool!

Hopefully i'll be back in Idaho to try this place out again and have some din din while i'm at it!

Lasagna was tasteless, though the salad was good. Overall, a C-.  No reason to return. Ended up at Pie Hole Pizza across the street, gorging on 3 awesome slices for less than the price of the bland Red Feather lasagna.

Cazba, the Greek/Mediterranean place across the street at 211 N 8th is awesome!  Try the Calamari wrap with just a drizzle of fresh lime juice...  This place (Cazba) is not on Yelp! and it should be!!!

I have a pretty sexual crush on the Red Feather Lounge and am seriously contemplating entering into a long distance relationship with this establishment.  I know, I know. Liz Lemon says that "Long Distance is the Wrong Distance" but I bet she has never eaten here.

I came here based on the yelp reviews (obvi) and thank you yelp friends for steering me in the right direction!

I started with the grilled kale caesar. Perfection! Didn't fill me up and just got me super revved up for my next two courses. I followed it with the smoked trout appetizer (more perfection).

At this point I took a lap around the restaurant to check out the wine cellar and digest a bit. This place is AWESOME! Completely charming and totally original.

Alright. Back to the table! More food! My main course was the sturgeon. I had to hold myself back from licking the plate. If the restaurant was a tiny bit darker I would have. I ordered the cobbler for dessert and was so full that I had to take it to go. Talk about a delicious midnight snack. Holy Lord.

The best part about my dining experience was my waitress, Kate. She actually guided me through the locally grown, organic menu and helped me select my entire meal which totally hit the spot.

Thank you Kate, Thank you Red Feather Lounge and Thank you Liz Lemon. (So what? I love 30 Rock).

We meant to go to the Bitter Creek Ale house but apparently sat on the wrong side of the patio out front.  Either way, it was a good move.  I liked the selection of wines and my buddies were pleased with the beer options.  We started with a cheese board, which was delicious.  The portions provided were excellent.  Also, the small plates allowed us to mix and match food options.  I had the wings and a plate of fries.  The wings were whole wings, very meaty, and the glaze on them was finger lickin' good.

I would definitely visit this place again.

First time I'm Boise and arrived at the hotel around 9 pm on a Sunday.  Driving through downtown and everything looked as if it was closed.  Asked the receptionist for a few recommendations and Red Feather Lounge was on the list.  We wanted a place to grab some food that had a patio to chill so that we could drink.  Having been just a few blocks away we opted to give it a try, and from the looks of it the place was fairly busy.  Asked the waiter as to what he recommended and quickly suggested some IPA. I'll have to admit, it was very good.  Ordered the salmon and my coworker ordered the gnocchi per the waiters suggestion.  The food was very average and the salmon tasted fairly bland minus the what tasted like the terriyaki glaze on top.  Coworker also agreed that the gnocchi was so so.

Place gets 3 stars only because of the beer and definitely not because of the food.  Service was good minus the fact that the waiter brought over the third beer eventhough we both said we were good.  This place could also use a better ac unit as it was hot as hell inside the restaurant.

After an 8 hour drive to Boise, meeting my boyfriend's entire extended family and some fun filled funeral planning, I was in serious need of a drink. A strong one. No offense residents of Boise, but being a bit of a snob, I wasn't sure I'd find a quality cocktail in your fine city. If it makes you feel any better, my boyfriend (who grew up there) wasn't sure we'd find one either.

We took a chance on the Red Feather and praise the booze gods, it was awesome! A welcome find for a city girl like me. The atmosphere is nice, kind of dark and metro. We sat the bar and immediately noticed the bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable. Their drinks were great; they obviously take pride in making a quality cocktail. We ended up coming here every night we were in town and brought various members of my boyfriend's family with us. I tried several drinks off Red Feather's standard cocktail menu and a few unique creations the bartender put together just for our party.

Yum, yum, yum. Drunk. Just the way I like it ;)

Met friends here for dinner and drinks. I love the concept of this place. The menu has wine and beer in order of how far they are from the restaurant, clever. They also use all local ingredients and even make their ketchup from scratch.

I had the grass fed burger with Huntsman's cheese. Who would have known that Huntsman's cheese is a combo of cheddar and blue cheese? Yum! The burger came with a heaping mound of fresh fries which I couldn't help but devour.

We ended up staying for quite a few rounds of drinks. The waiter was helpful in making choices too given my beer knowledge is limited to bud light, miller light and amstel light. - OOOps. I found it rather comical though that all the drinks the boys ordered seem to come in these girly - should have a beach umbrella - glasses and all us chickas got pint glasses.

Great times with great friends. I would return.

I was in Boise a month or so ago to see one of my besties, who is also a regular patron of Red Feather. We stopped in for some apps and a bottle of bubbly, and my was I impressed! Boise, you're all grown up... or at least hitting your mid-twenties and starting to really appreciate your parents... but I digress.

The food was fantastic. We split the grilled kale Caesar and a little wood-fired pizza (possible the special of the day? It had mushrooms). I have never experienced kale so pleasurably before! Cooked the perfect amount, and just bitter enough to be interesting, but without too much bite. The two of us are pretty big eaters, but we had to take half of the pizza home even though it was delicious. Maybe it had something to do with all the bubbles in our bellies...

    Kudos to Red Feather for:
    - Gorgeous, LOCAL food
    - A sophisticated and romantic ambiance (appreciated even when you're only out with your best friend!)
    - Eco-conscious - ingredient sources are listed, and each wine listing says how far it had to travel to the restaurant
    - A kickass wine list - love that Gruet Brut! (Reasonably priced, by the glass or bottle, and yummmm-my)
    - Excellent service

Red Feather is a great step ahead for Boise, and would (or should!) be appreciated in any city. I'm visiting my friend again this weekend and we will definitely be back to Red Feather!

Just got in for a short visit from Seattle and was expecting a Spokane or an Ellensburg.  Man, I was totally off!  Downtown Boise is lively and cute (and not in a quaint/creepy/boring way) , even on a random Tuesday evening.  Checked the reviews and headed straight to Red Feather.

Vibe:  Dimly lit, cozy, and trendy-ish with a huge blue-lit wine cellar/vortex.  I liked that it seemed to appeal to all ages.  There were older couples out on a date, suits and ties straight from work, twentysomething ladies talking about weddings, and of course, me and my mom.

Service:  Great!  We were seated immediately and our waitress was very attentive.

Food: Outstanding.  We started with a spicy curry butternut squash soup with hints of ginger and a great texture and flavor in my grilled kale caesar salad.  But the showstopper was the beef tenderloin, cooked precisely medium rare.  I think it was grass-fed or something sustainable and fancy.  But more importantly, it was also so tender it was buttery with a delicious, crispy, seared crust.  Damn, Idaho, you got some tasty beef.

Red Feather has the best drink menu I've ever seen and it's the primary reason I come. Low lit and trendy with an artful menu and tiny little portions on big plates. It tries hard to follow the footsteps of big city dining and generally does a good job. Service wasn't exactly friendly, but they were all excellent at what they do.

Red Feather and Bittercreek both stand out from your average restaurant because they source a large portion of their food from farms within a 100 mile radius. I think it's an important movement to support but it's also a great way to give out of town guests a taste of Idaho.

Stopped by here for dinner the other night. When arrived, I was impressed with the decor and ambiance of Red Feather Lounge. The spiral staircase is surrounded by bottles of wine, which was a pleasant sight. My server was quite nice, and was very attentive during my dining visit.

I decided to order the Caesar salad, french fries, and the pork chops. The salad was very different from the usual Caesar salad that I do have, but nonetheless it was very delicious. As far as the pork chops go, they were a decent size, topped off with mushrooms and a side of Brussels sprouts and bread pudding. I decided to order the french fries because of the Idaho organically grown detail, and it was actually pretty good.

In a place where I haven't found delicious food, this place is a pleasant treat in Boise.

Very nice ambiance for Boise. In fact, traveling to places like Scottsdale and Waikiki (where urban lounges are plentiful), I'm a bigger fan of Red Feather as a bar/restaurant/hang out than MOST other places I've been to.

The candle lit aspect and smaller tables makes an intimate convo possible, but if you have a larger party the sweet little "VIP" area upstairs is lovely for birthdays and such. Anything in the middle can be seated close to the bar allowing for your drinks to be served expediently :)

Love the funny little cocktails and I always get the server that is wearing a D&G or Louis belt buckle (he was playing Chromeo remixes the other night and even though he doesn't swing my way and I'm dating the love of my life - we totally fell in love. What a great personality and mojo he has!). I love their appetizers, entrees, salads... you will too. In fact, on Sundays in the summer you can get bottomless mimosas and brunch for next to nothing, sit out on the patio and breathe in the beautiful Boise air.

Even in the winter it's a cozy spot to people watch and escape the pretenses of places like Pair or Opa (I like Opa once in a awhile but it's turned a little too Euro techno for my taste...) while still surrounding yourself with Boise's best dressed and well mannered.

Don't worry friends, it's a rare if non-existent occasion that fights happen outside or God forbid someone throws up on or near you here. If you're looking for THAT kind of excitement, 6th and Main at the 'Stro is where you wanna go bro! (ugh)

Red Feather is where it's at. It's a little more spendy than most downtown establishments, but wouldn't you rather hang out around better looking, better mannered people and be sipping on a martini that is twice as strong? Yes please! Love ya RF!

Don't ya hate catch phrases. Me too, but here they come. This place has great ambiance. In the evening it is dimly lit with soft directional flo lighting and candles. Tables and seating are comfortable yet sturdy. Your drink won't wobble when you leave your seat. [One of my peeves.] The wait staff is very attentive and .. well.. You'll see.

The food is great! The menu isn't complex or convoluted. There is just a nice selection of light salads, meat entrees, and appetizers. Everything is moderately priced.

Location, location location. Oh, did I mention that this restaurant is in the perfect spot? This place is nestled right in the heart of downtown Boise. Its sits in the eclectic Mecca of the 8th street strip between Idaho street and Bannock street. This area of town is bustling from Noon to Midnight. The Red Feather captures the essence of the city like a net. Give it a try. You'll love it!

Chic and trendy, but I wouldn't call it "urban."  You'd have to be in the middle of larger city to qualify for that label :P

    Excellent place to people watch
Excellent place to sexify your palette
Excellent place for intimate convos with that special someone

The highlight of the place is definitely the 2-3 story wine cellar with a sprial staircase down the middle and with surrounding walls that glow in a magnificent blue.

Also I loved the bartenders there and the drink menu was off the chain.  An excellent date place or place to laugh with friends and drink wine all night.
