Red Fox Steak House

I'm sure this place is great for drinks...but for a steak...I would have preferred going to Outback!

Nothing wrong with service, or the place, or the drinks...but the food... the steak was sooooo bland! There was NO seasoning on it...it just didn't taste good... The salad was good, and so was the garlic bread...but the steak itself was so bland. I got the new york strip and I had to ask for steak sauce. My BF got the filet mignon and it came out in a weird/odd shape... and it wasn't tender. The grill marks were definitely there, but would it kill them to add some salt and peppers? Or even some Montreal sauce?! Everything else was great, we got the spiked shirley temple and it tasted just like one but with alcohol (so good).

I would probably come back only for the bar and the bar food...

If you are ever in North Park and want to have a transformative dining experience go to the Red Fox Steak House at The Lafayette Hotel at 2223 El Cajon Blvd.   The entire room goes back to Medieval England and they have a dark cozy bar and lounge music on certain nights of the week and they stay open late.   Lot's of old school booths to sit in an enjoy a nice salad and steak.   Their chicken teriyaki is also good.   This North Park landmark is a very groovy, old school spot and safe, dark haven from the world outside.

Found this place on YELP.  It was GREAT !!!  It does remind you of old school restaurants.  Chris our server was Awesome !!!  Everyone there was very friendly and pleasant.  Did not wait long for food either. My husband and I both ordered the Filet Mignon, and was very good.  The bread was good also.  I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a good Steak and some old fashion hospitality !!!
