Out and about in the country doing some work related traveling with the boss and he decided that this was the spot for dinner. Â
Nice place, Interesting decor, friendly staff, over all a nice change from big chain restaurants.
Boss had the Salmon and said it was perfect. Â I had a Chef Salad and it was a large portion and they didnt skimp on the meats and cheeses like other places do. Â
Next time I am back in the area with the boss I am sure Albie's will be a dinner stop.
Albie's lived up to it's ratings with the service, the setting, and the food!! Â My prime rib was cut medium rare just like I ordered, and the one thing that impressed me the most was my waitress was keeping an eye on me and didn't rush me through my dinner. Â The only thing keeping me from a 5 star rating was the twice baked potato. Â It was a little dry, but definitely not worth complaining about. Â My Manhattan was good, although a bit heavy on the bitters. Â Honestly, I loved the paintings! They reminded me of someplace from my childhood where my dad used to take us as a family. Â I ate in the lounge, and since I was by myself, it was perfect. Â My only regret was not being able to tip my waitress more. Â I will definitely be back!!!
Review Source:I found this place by accident while on vacation. Â Drove by and saw the name and I was compelled to investigate. Â With a name like Albies Beef Inn I just had to know what was inside and when I entered the main door I was astonished at what I saw. Â The phrase "not what I expected" does not even come close! Â It was very dimly lit and as I entered the main room, with it's dark wood paneled walls, and black leather furniture I felt transported back in time to my Uncle Juniors basement poker room. Â This place is not for everyone but it is most definitely for me! Â I was greeted by a very nice lady who told me the history of the restaurant and it's paintings. Â The walls are lined with "boudoir" paintings of the original owners wife, and various stewardesses according to my host. Â The bar hosts a piano with a player/singer with just the right amount of tallent and lack there of at the same time. Â The prices were more than reasonable by my standards and the food was very good. Â I was a little disappointed by the house made blue cheese dressing but that's my only complaint. Â I had the steak Dianne with a twice baked potato. Â Cocktails, wine, food, and a party of 8 we walked out for less than 300!! Â Our servers were fantastic, everyone was so friendly and It was an experience I will not soon forget. Â I dont know when I will be back in San Diego but when I am Albies Beef Inn will be my first stop!
