Wine Vault & Bistro

This is a restaurant not to miss. The service is excellent, food divine and wine pairing terrific. You cannot get a better dal and they try very hard to make your stay a memorable one. The neighborhood is funky and parking a bit tough but well worth the visit. It only allows those over 21 and are strict about it. The portions are filling but not overfilling. Enjoy!

I wanted to be fancy one night recently, before the car loan reality settled in come July. I happened upon a Thursday night off which rarely ever happens. With this I figured why not try the wine vault, a place I had heard about a few times, but could never go to since they are only open for dinner three nights a week

I decided to go for their Thursday special, which is a three course selection at  around $20.00 a person. For that you get one first course, the second and finally a dessert. You can choose one from three choices on each section. For $15.00 a person you can add a wine flight.

I had heard about the portions being small so I prepared myself before our 8:00pm reservation. Yes, I ate a string cheese. Just a little carry over in case my fears were realized. The BF opted to not take the string cheese route. Silly man

After a little parking hassle we arrived early, but were seated anyway. It's cute, has a sort of homey feel with white tables and chairs. Being that I wasn't in fact made of money I opted just for the food. Thankfully they brought out bread and flaked salt

For starters my BF got a crab bisque soup that quite literally looked like they smeared the bottom of the bowl and that was it. Did it taste good? Yes fantastic, but it was  gone in 1.2 seconds with my BF and his sad hungry eyes staring at me... I had a fig tart sort of thing with goat cheese foam. It is all rather fancy sounding isn't it? I took my time with my little two inch circle, because who knows how long it would be for the next course. Turns out...a little longer than I had hoped..

Second courses were some sort of beef with some sort of mush. Don't get me wrong it was good, but I truly cannot remember the name. Halibut for the BF. White, flaky and nicely cooked..but could have used a bit of butter.  Both tasty dishes and both..quite small as well

We ordered more bread and plotted who we would kill first in the establishment once the harsh winter came. No, no..we talked about horrible movies and sci fi shows (That Fringe show is so confusing!)

Dessert was a bit of a letdown. Some sort of Gouda plate with one little piece of cheese, a cracker and peach compote...and then a key lime creme brule. I believe this dish should never be messed with, but I tried it. It didn't look or taste like a brule. They should have called it 'That custard limey thing with slightly toasty top'

The meal did take some time to come out, to which the cute white chairs were now hurting our delicate asses. They are not comfortable for extended stays

The thing the saved the place was the flavors and prep. They are really on point...but portions and time management need work. I may come again..Armed with my string cheese and a comfy pillow

Wonderful spot.  We went here for their tasting menu with wine pairings. Everything was delicious. I would have liked alittle bigger portions, because we were all still wanting more at the end of the meal. Food was excellent though. Would definitely recommend.
