For Eureka this is as good as it gets for performances. Kixin it with BLH and the owner for his birthday was nice. I think they have a great sound system and nice location for this venue. Good amount of bathrooms which is a plus. A little small but you are in Eureka! Looking like a great up and coming bar/concert hall. A must visit
Review Source:I don't make it to Eureka more than once a year so it is always interesting to see what has changed over the years and where you can go to hang out. This particular spot has lasted over a few years which gives it some natural credibility as a place to try out. That and you hardly have any other options in town accept for dive bars!
It was a decent little spot with an okay bar, nice enough people, and a so-so crowd. Obviously it doesn't compare to big city clubs and such but for a sleepy town of 25,000 it was good enough for one night's entertainment! They carried some nice local beers that I hadn't had before and was happy with.
We stopped in here toward the end of the night a couple weeks ago and had a good time! It's a very high-ceiling place with a good stage. We saw the end of a ska show and got to dance. It wasn't too hot in there as the ceilings were very tall.
The door guy gave us a discount since it was close to the end of the night, so that was nice. The crowd was small, but friendly. The bartenders were nice enough. The bathrooms weren't horrible either.
I hope to come back here for another show :]
Have been here a few times over the years. Â It's a bar, and generally they have music (I've been here for hip hop, R&B, and now salsa DJs). Â On our last visit, we went for their salsa night. Â We were a little late, and missed the free salsa lesson at 9pm. Â The cover was $5. Â There was a decent crowd when we got there. Â I like salsa, but I'm still a total novice and get intimidated by good dancers, and beautiful women, so unfortunately, I went into wall-flower-mode----I know, I know---so lame of me. Â Anyway, I did have a decent time watching some good dancers. Â There was an old dude there who was totally workin it. Â He had young girls spinning and moving all over. Â Very cool.
As the night went on, the crowd grew. Â There was one short and cute Latina who kept eye-ing me. Â I always had to take a double take to see if there was anyone behind me (no one), and then take a drink of my beer. Â I totally choked! Â Eventually some other guys took her out (she could dance, too!). When she'd come back to the bar, she'd eye me again. Â DUDE!!!!
Next time a guy took her out on the floor, I walked over and watched. Â As I was watching, she spun toward me and said something. Â I don't know what she said, but she said something every time she faced me during her spins. Â Dang, I should have asked her for a dance. Â Oh well.
I still like Red Fox. Â It's a good place for drinkin' and dancin'. Â Oh, usually I think they take debit cards, but on this night their machine was down, so it was cash-only.
