I have been here a couple of times in my stay in Alexandria. The service has been good. Tonight I came in and was asked by Cristey, "what I needed". I wanted and Jamison with a backer. Cristey said, ok. I was poured my request. And two minutes later because I did not drink it fast enought, Cristey poured out my drink in the well and told me, if I didn't like it, I couuld talk to the owner. I understand that everybody has bad nights. But all she could talk about was how her man was leaving for a year and how she could cope with it. The owner is an older Greek fellow that said he can't control what his bartenders do. Why would I pay 7 dollars for a shot I would not drink.

A neighborhood hangout, where you can spend an entire afternoon and evening watching football. It's not fancy, but it does not pretend to be fancy. You are here for friendly service, cheap beers, and much, much better food than your typical dive.

Their beers come in massive 23 ounce glasses (though you can get a "little" beer, which would be a regular pint anywhere else, for a whopping three bucks), and they usually have a decent IPA or two on tap.  The massive beers are 4 dollars during happy hour and 5 the rest of the time.

They also have great Greek food here, including the Greek appetizer platter (gyro meat, pitas, olives, stuffed grape leaves, souvlaki, feta cubes, tzatziki sauce, and tomatoes). For vegetarians, there is a suprisingly large array of options, including a stuffed Mediterranean wrap.

All the bartenders here are great--they are all really sweet, friendly, attentive and helpful.

Great food, cheap beer, and a friendly staff.  It's a bit of a dive sports bar filled with a lot of regulars so if you're looking for a 5 star dining experience truck down to old town and pay 5 times the price.  Really good Greek food and their pizza is amazing.

Ok, sometimes you return to a place and you recall why you started to come there in the first place. yeah a few improvements some new staff and you've stepped back into nostalgia land. I guess that'  show I feel about Reynolds Street now. They have cleaned the place up and brought on such favorite bartenders as Lisa N and Kristie that you can't help but smile. Sorry , Reynolds, I can't remember why we had a falling in the first place. But I am willing to give it another shot if you are? Do I here Barry Manalow singing "looks like we made it" on the background? Only time will tell, my rough and tumble friend, only time will tell

This place received a bad rap! It is cleaner than reported and the food was very good--I had the gyros pita and he had the turkey burger. The service was good too--we'll be back!

    Our new neighborhood bar!

A good selection of beer, serves food late, plenty of TVS, and seating....I couldnt ask for anything more from my new, walk-able neighborhood bar.

The service was great. Both our waitress and the bartender were super nice, and very attentive. The beers are large, which is always good. We came in at about 10:30 on a Sat night and it really wasnt crowded at all.

Because I made a decision out of extreme hunger, I had the chicken strips. Dont get me wrong, they were good! Im just usually more adventurous when eating at a new place. The rest of their primarily greek inspired menu does look god though. I look forward to trying more.

Ill see you again soon Reynolds!

The food is better than average bar food.  Portions are generous.  They're chili was pretty banging.   Service is pretty awesome too.   Wya and her coworker(pretty blonde gal) were sweet and attentive.   Parking here is also a cinch.    If I lived in one of the nearby apt buildings, I'd probably come here way more often and drink till the cows came home.  I would definitely consider this place your neighborhood corner bar.   You're not gonna come here for a culinary destination experience.   You wanna come here because they know your name and what you like to drink.

It's the dive bar other dive bars strive to be.

I happened to be in the west end Alexandria area and was hungry, but I wasn't sure about a sports bar.  But it was pretty quiet when I came in and not rowdy, and I got a seat at the bar and was immediately taken care of.  I have to say, the two ladies at the bar were probably some of the nicest servers I've ever had.  They were friendly, engaging, funny, and of course, efficient.  All the complaints about the cigarette smell are moot at this point it's 2013 and the smell has long gone.  I thought the place was clean and the food was good.  I didn't order the pizza others were raving about, but may have to do so next time, and there will be a next time.  I ordered two appetizers and a cup of soup, not realizing how generous they were with there portions, they were basically two full meals; it's all good, box it for later.  The food was yes bar food, but it was good bar food.  The quesadilla was pretty much everything you'd expect (though I wouldn't have minded bacon) and the chicken fingers would crisp and flaky and buttery to the degree that i opted to forgo the sauce and eat them au naturel.  The waitresses asked my name and remembered it, introducing themselves, and they remembered my name.  The place was someone quiet that night so I got to converse with them as well and they were just nice friendly people.  I live in the city and don't have any particular reason to be in west end Alexandria but I want to come back here with some of my NoVa friends for dinner just because it was such a positive experience; and to try the pizza.  In an era of 'just good enough' service, being here was a very pleasant surprise, and one that has earned my business.  A place where they know your name; I see now the appeal of dive bars.

This place doesn't look like much but they have the BEST PIZZA in West End Alexandria. It does have sort of a dive atmosphere but that is what its patrons come for. Service is good, people are friendly. Now that smoking is banned we are happy to go there regularly.

Recently moved to the Alexandria area, and been to Reynold's a few times, as I live nearby.

I get it, it's a dive bar, but it's really not what everyone paints it out to be. Maybe we just had rougher dive bars in Norfolk. The staff has been extremely friendly and attentive each time I've gone, the prices are great, and the food is pretty good. If you're grading it on a dive bar scale, its great. Neither myself nor my girlfriend have ever felt uncomfortable there, the fellow bar guests aren't sketchy, just drunks. That's who hangs out at bars. I understand it can come off as scary to suburbanites, but keep in mind the people there are paying the same high rent prices as you are, how scary can they be?

I would give 2.5 stars.  It's not bad, but not good either.  It's strange but in a twilight zone kind of way.

My Aussie friend told me about this place.  He said it's a great dive bar near his house where he likes to do some piss cutting.  So I went with him the other night to check it out...

The thing I could not get out of my mind was the feeling of being inside a Pizza Hut.... It actually was a pizza hut before that.  Now imagine a pizza hut turned into a bar, except without any renovation but the addition of a bar on one side.

Place had a bit of an odor, but that's to be expected at a dive bar.

Owner was a cool Greek guy you could chat with...

Relatively cheap, good beer on tap, which you can get in a huge glass. I didn't try the food...

    Surreal...

OK neighborhood bar.  I was actually surprised that the food was decent.  Pizza, wings, salmon...not bad at all.  If you live in the area, want to go out to a bar that is not too far and has adequate parking...this is your joint.  Just don't go expecting great ambiance or anything like that.  This place gets all kinds of folk from business white collar to no collar at all.  Adjust your attitude before you go, and you just may have fun.

I moved back into Alexandria recently (Oct '10) and on moving day, I went to get food for my husband and me and the movers.  I decided on Reynolds Street because I used to like this place (about 6 years ago!) when it wasn't quite so bar-oriented.  I remembed that the food was pretty good, despite the dumpy place it was, so I went there to pick up a couple of sandwiches - boy my memory had failed me.

First of all the place has REALLY gone downhill.  SEEDY is what it strives to be.  The vinyl seat covers were torn in the waiting area; the place stinks of stale beer and cigarettes (even though it's been smoke-free law in Virignia for a year); the floor was sticky as was anything you touched; the menu falling apart.  I should've left.

But, since I remembered it to have decent food, I decided to order anyway.  I sat an waited and I started smelling cigarettes.  The bartender had gone into the bathroom and I knew she was in there smoking.  When she came out, she walked by me and the whiff of cigarette smoke was UNMISTAKEABLE.  UGH!  I thought, ok, maybe she's a smoker and she just reeks of it so I went into the restroom to check it out.  Sure enough she had been smoking in there.  Btw, the bathroom was disgusting.  Falling down, dirty, and on top of that, smelling like cigarettes.

And it's not that cheap!  NEVER AGAIN.  I will not be back unless it undergoes a MAJOR cleaning.

I live close, never hung out there. But have ordered food, it was exactly what you'd expect from bar food

We went to this restaurant for dinner.  Food was ok nothing special.  Service was good although waitress forgot to bring soda refills.  The place seemed pretty clean although bathrooms needed some remodeling.  Overall experience was ok but looks more geared for drinking and watching your local sports team.

This is the kind of place where sketch-meisters hang around outside smokin' Reds...where the bartender greets regulars with, "Heyyyy, White Trash!", and the regulars respond, "Heyyy, Jerry Springer!"...where the scent of stale ciggie smoke lingers a good 8 months after VA went smoke-free....where the tables get a dirty-dishrag wipe-down instead of a Cloroxing.  Dive bar to the nth degree.

But -- a dive bar to the nth degree with friendly waitstaff and bartenders, killer pizza (I know, right?), and a great draught and bottle beer selection.  For cheap.  Plus 80 sports channels playing 'round the clock.  You can even catch college lacrosse playoffs if you're so inclined.

Not bad for a neighborhood shade-ball hangout.

I agree with some of the other reviewers - the place is a bit seedy, but, in my opinion, that's part of the charm. I've eaten there twice and really enjoyed the food. The pizza is first class and the meatloaf is good, too. I will definitely go back.

***Disclaimer, they sponsor my softball team, so I am biased, however I'm not being dishonest with what I'm about to say.

VA now has a no smoking law, so all the reviews crushing this place for the amount of smoke should seriously think about updating their rating, it's a great place now that it's smoke free.

Reynolds is a local dive bar.  It's not ritzy with granite counter tops and special martini's kinda place, so if that's what your looking for, stop reading and look for another place.  It's a local dive bar where 80% of the customer base is exactly that, local.  It's got a cheers kinda vibe to it.  I only go there once a week during softball season, that being Thursday nights, but the servers are friendly (when you're friendly), they might have a bad day every once and a while, but I've learned how to deal with them when that happens, just ask somebody else.  Plenty of TV's to watch sports and the bartenders/waitresses play music from their ipods or the satellite radio station.

The food is great, not sure what everyone is comparing to, but the chicken Cesar salad is amazing, the chicken is tender and bursts out with so much flavor you'll think you paid $15 for it instead of $9 or whatever the real price is.  The only draw back I have is you can't order it after 10pm (or some other set time).  The pizza is delicious, and the rest is pretty much typical bar food.  It serves it's purpose well.  I'm really glad they sponsor us, it's a great place to go back to and hang out after our softball games.

One word describes this place perfectly, and its "SEEDY." I used to go here when I first moved in and it was right down the street, but let me tell you that it has gone down hill drastically.  I think the only thing I can say is the pizza is decent.  But with Valentino's, La Casa, and Generous Georges all within a mile, best bet is to go to one of them.  The atmosphere in the bar looks like the old Alexandria, the low life scum that used to inhabit this great city.  The best part of the dining room is that they offer take out, and thank god, because you sit there for 2 minutes and you wonder how you can smell so badly, all from smoke.  Don't waste your time with this place, it used to be a dive bar, now its just a dive.

I won't even get into service, because its non existent, unless your a local seedy prince or princess, and I mean that in the most sarcastic tone possible.  Avoid this place, lets get a real place in there.

I thought this would be a cool place to hang out for Happy Hours that would put me within walking distance of home in case I enjoyed one too many beers.
It does seem to have quite a Sports crowd, but these people are also heavy smokers and I walk out of here smelling of smoke and with a massive headache.
The waiters tend to cater to those at the bar, so service can often be slow for those in the booth.
Good finger foods if you're here to watch a game and smoke, but I tried a salad and their Caesar dressing did not resemble any Caesar I had ever had...

My boyfriend and I are dart players, so we're always looking for places where we can have a couple beers, eat a snack, and play a few games.  Sounds easy to accomplish, right?  Not here!!!  The service is a JOKE.  We've been to Reynolds St. ~ 10 times over 6 months and only gotten decent service twice.  Every other time, we've been virtually ignored, and on several occasions, we've been given attitude.  One waitress rolled her eyes at me as I was throwing a dart.  Apparently, taking 1 step to the side to walk behind me was an inconvenience.  One time, I had to go to the bar to get drinks (which still took forever) AND to get our tab, even though we had a waitress.  Our last trip there, the waitress actually snapped at my BF after he didn't hear her say "excuse me".  It was the first and only time that I've ever stiffed a waitress for bad service in my whole life.  We vowed never to go back.  Having worked in the service industry, I don't understand how these women make a living at this place.  Awful.  You'll leave here thirsty, hungry, and irritated.

Neighborhood sports(ish) bar in Alexandria.  Good place to hang out with some friends and talk while drinking away the night.  There is also a dart board to completely the neighborhood dive-bar feeling.

The food is decent, but I wouldn't go there for a culinary experience.
