The two of us had dinner there last week. It was great -- welcoming, quiet for a popular place, and good reasonably priced food.  I had carnitas -- excellent and authentic.  But there are a variety of types of food on offer.  Good, reasonably priced wine by the glass (full 6 oz glasses).  Although certainly gay-friendly there were plenty of mixed couples and a few singles.

Yelpers get off your tuckuses and mosey on over to Rodeo!  Tell Trent we said "howdy" when you get there.  We all know how hard it is to cater great food for a wedding reception, but Trent at Rodeo pulled it off to MULTIPLE rave reviews.

Our event was held at the Richardson House in Richardson Park right next door to Rodeo, and the experience couldn't have gone more smoothly.  The planning was seamless and the food really impressive.  Trent works to create a menu that will not only make you happy, but will make your mouth water!!  Everything was soooo good.

Not to mention that the restaurant itself is designed beautifully and looks like it belongs in NYC.

What a wonderfully perfect wedding reception.  Thanks, Trent & Rodeo!

Rodeo is a viable weekend lunch option when you don't feel like waiting for a table at the Alibi or Rosie's. The service is nice and the food is okay.  I had their BLT and it was a very pretty presentation with remoulade instead of mayo, fried green tomatoes, and seriously candied bacon- with tasteless sweet potato tots.  It didn't taste anything like a BLT, but it was edible.  My friends said their French Fries are good.

Super nice server. In fact, I wish he worked at my business...he was that pleasant! Said thank you, my pleasure and your welcome, several times during our visit. The food however was a little lacking. My Pecan Chicken was dry, overcooked and lacked that special something you expect while dinning out. I have been here b4 and it was much better.

I have lived in Florida now for two years and go out to dinner at least 2-3 a week and I have NEVER had a worse meal than I did last Sunday at this place.
There were four of us in the group and NONE of us liked their meal......we would have sent it back to the kitchen, but we were in a rush to get going.
I had the worse heartburn the rest of day and evening from this AWFUL food...........it sounded good in print on the menu.........but it was pure YUCK!
LOTS of thick flavorless thick gravy over a pile of cheese and potatoes that were still raw (hard/uncooked).....and was supposed to have brisket somewhere in this mess.......I found no meat......just a large glob of that awful gravy.
The only thing done correctly was my eggs on top of this mess.......sunny side up.
The dish came with the most stale/hard as a rock bisquit that I've ever had.....it could have substituted for a hockey puck.
I will NEVER go there again............and the prices are WAY too high for that quality or lack of.......we would have fared better at some fast food restaurant.

Although Florida is in the far South, it lacks the sort of Southern hospitality that the South is known for. Yeah you can find some good Cuban food, Jamaican food and pretty much anything from a Caribbean island food, but it is often hard to find that real down home soul food. Well, by being introduced to Rodeo Restaurant & Martini Bar I think I have finally found that place. At Rodeo Restaurant & Martini Bar it is all about bringing thoughtful and ingenious Southern food to South Florida. They combine Southwestern, Tex-Mex, Barbecue, and Cajun/Creole cuisine to create some really amazing dishes.

The design of the restaurant is a take on the Southwestern style. Exposed stone walls and warm browns and black colored wood furniture decorate the place, while pentagrams and animals skulls hang from the walls. I almost wanted to run back home and get my cowboy boots and holster (if I actually owned any of those). The atmosphere was very chill and everyone seemed nice enough, but I didn't feel that genuine Southern Hospitality that I would expect at a place like this considering that is what their concept is based off. But, outside of looking at the service in the respect, everything was okay.

Their bar serves an array of cocktails, beers and wines. In addition to that they run different specials during the week such as Martini Wednesday when they have HALF OFF the martini menu! So naturally I had to stop by on a Wednesday and grab me a martini, a Lemon Drop Martini specifically. Very fresh, very refreshing, very delicious! I loved it, considering I am not a big fan of martini drinks.

The food here all sound so mouthwateringly good, from fried green tomatoes, mac & cheese, pulled pork, brisket, pecan chicken, shrimp & grits, and yes I could go on and on, but I wanted to go for something a little simpler so I went for the Southern BLT. Now this right here is not your ordinary bacon, lettuce and tomato. Okay, so the lettuce is ordinary (not romaine ordinary) but the bacon is not ordinary it is peppered molasses bacon and the tomato isn't either, it is fried green tomatoes. Nuff said! The bacon was out of this world good! Now I really like this sandwich because in all honesty, I am still thinking about it now, I just wish that the remoulade sauce was a little less tangy; it overpowered the flavor of the sandwich. The bacon and tomatoes had their own really nice flavors that could have been brought out more if not for the sauce.

The sandwich came with a choice of curly fries or sweet potato tater tots. I am sweet potato person so I had to go with the tots. I haven't had many taters tots in my day, so when I think of tater tots I flash back to elementary school lunch. Those were not so good so I was a little wary, but these were effing awesome. My boyfriend who hates sweet potato fries of any kind, spend more time eating my fries than he did his. So yes, they were that good.

My boyfriend is a simple man that likes simple things and so he opted for the Cowboy Burger. The burger consists of BBQ sauce, chili-dusted bacon, fried onions and cheddar. I personally, didn't taste it because I was too into my food and forget to try his. By the time I even remembered to think about he was already done, so take from that what you will. I know I don't eat food I don't like especially that fast. He did say he liked it though and would come back to this place again.

I probably want to try about 90% of their menu so it's a given I will be back, but knowing that they have brunch on the weekends, I would love to come back and try one of their luscious French toast!

A nice little spot right in Wilton Manors that serves up some traditional southern foods with some southwest influences. My appatizer was nachos with bbq pulled pork and queso drizzled on top, which was amazing I couldnt stop eating it lol. My main meal was a jambalya with cajun seasonings, blackened shrimp, sausage and chicken with pasta insead of rice. Def a good place to relax and get some good food. The atmospher is real relaxed with dim lighting and nice dark wood all over.

Rodeo hasn't changed much since my first review. There are a lot of pluses to it such as its nice, pleasant, clean Southwestern décor, its seating and attentive service. However, pretty much the same minus points which, now that it has been in operation for some time have become all the more evident such as a rather skimpy menu and the fact that it is the only place I know of in town that has a Sunday brunch with full priced ($8.00) Bloody Marys, a fact hardly counter by their half priced ($3.00) Memosa.

It's rather perplexing in that Rodeo persists in billing itself as been both "Southern" and "Southwestern" at the same time. None of the décor or atmosphere seems at all Southern to me and for what I would consider Southern Style foods totally misses the mark. It leaves me somewhat clueless as to the culinary goal; perhaps a fusion of Southern and Southwestern as is evidenced with offerings such as New Orleans quesadilla? At least I've never heard of a New Orleans styled quesadilla.

Either way, if Southern or Southwestern, it falls short of the mark on both counts.

For example, the fried green tomatoes do come with a rather nice crab remoularde but the fried green tomato part is at best a Southwestern attempt at what turns out to be a Southern disaster, certainly grounds for any chef's expulsion from a Southern kitchen.

Also, a matter of concern to me but for which I haven't deducted any stars are the continuing, though clearly now decreasing number of "critical" disproportional to the minor "non-critical" violations noted on the data base for South Florida food inspections <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdatabases.sun-sentinel.com%2Fhealth%2FftlaudRestaurantInspections5%2FftlaudRestaurantInspections_list.php%3Fa%3Dintegrated%26ctlSearchFor%3Drodeo%26simpleSrchFieldsComboOpt%3D%26simpleSrchTypeComboNot%3D%26simpleSrchTypeComboOpt%3D%26criteria%3Dand&s=ea3a0875cae62fc854f3277a7e2d3b414fb67f4c8db8f86cfefc2b3df0978810" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://databases.sun-sen…</a>

All in all, I do kind of like the place and I do frequent it rather often as I have a number of friends who really find it to be exceptionally good.

I was taken aback when I saw a BBQ joint in Wilton Manors, just like I did when I heard of the gay sports bars next door, but anyways. Food is good, guac is made on site and yummy with a lemon zest, the pulled pork nachos are great, mainly because the BBQ sauce is homemade. Chicken cashew and fries steak were tender enough to cut with a fork, portions are great and the price average, service is good. Can't wait to try their breakfast burrito or tacos, sound very appetizing!

Went for Sunday brunch and it was horrible! Server was not knowledgable on the menu, the food (once they finally prepared my omelet correctly) was bland and flavorless. The mimosa was decent. Drove from Plantation due to living social deal. Not worth the gas to come. Priced way too high for low quality service and food.

I learned about this place from a Living Social deal and couldn't wait to try it. My friend and I went on a Saturday night and got a table right away. We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer and were totally disappointed. The portion size was tiny and the price was huge at $8.25. We won't be ordering that again, even though it was smooth and tasty. Since there were so many things we wanted to try, we ended up ordering the BLT to split, Shrimp & Grits for me and Carne Asada formy friend. The BLT was FABULOUS! It had peppered molasses bacon, mixed greens for the lettuce and fried green tomatoes. The sweet potato tots were wonderful, cripsy, hot and full of flavor. I would order that again for sure! My friend loved the carne asada, she was worried that it would be too spicy, but it ended up being just right. The shrimp & grits were just ok. The grits were way too stiff and didn't taste like the bacon and cheese it promised. The shrimp were huge and tasted pretty good, but be ready for some spice! All in all, this place is worth a try!

Have returned several more times and still impressed with service, ambiance, food and value. On Sat night a cajun ribeye was one of the specialties. I was concerned that it might be overly spiced but our waiter (Scot) assured me that the seasonings would not over power the steak. He was correct. With a side of wilted collards and a delicious glass of a red wine I was happy. My wife and daughter each ordered the Dos Sopas and were equally impressed. Neither could finish the corn tortillas. Great value. Nice place

Cajun quesadilla was not good. The tomato sauce they use on the quesadilla and pasta tasted over cooked or out of a can. Wine selection is good and nice decor.

Service was friendly but there were lots of servers standing around. I guess we were there kind of early prior to the Friday dinner rush (6pm). Guacamole with crab appetizer was really good. Not a huge portion but was tasty and fresh. It was served in a glass with a long stem. Made it tough to get into with the crisp warm chips.

We had jambalaya pasta entree and grilled chicken sandwich. Pasta was over cooked and too soft. It was actually falling into pieces as we ate. The meats and sauce were great. It did have a slight kick. The chicken in the sandwich was moist and tasty. The portion of chicken was small and consisted of two small tenderloins. The topping were fresh and went well with the dish. The bread is actually flat bread and fell apart. Didn't like that.

Overall, not bad. I think they should watch the quality and they could have a great place. The decor is nice and upscale feeling but the bare floors and stone interior can make for a noisy dining experience as customers fill up the place.

One odd thing is the restroom. The restaurant is so nice, but the restroom is a joke. While it was spotless, it looked like a temporary strk white bathroom with plastic walls. When I turned the light in I thought I was transported to a gas station restroom.

I just returned to South Florida after three years in Houston and I can tell you Houston has an unlimited amount of great independent restaurants
with great regional  cuisine . Rodeo is a terrific delight.  I enjoyed the shrimp and grits , excellent..   I will return until I've eaten my way through the entire menu. I thank  Rodeo for opening  on the" Drive"

finally got over to try the newest addition to the drive. on a thursday night at 8pm the place was pretty quiet except for a large bday party at the bar. my salad with shrimp was pretty good and the guacomole acceptable although hated the presentation in a champagne glass.

will have to go back for the shrimp and grits....hope i am not disappointed! when i asked the waitress how that dish was....she told us she didn't know because she does not eat shrimp...not a good answer for a waitress!

hope this place makes it....we need some decent restaurants in wilton manors!

This restaurant is to die for!  I tried it on a recent visit to town with friends and everything from the service to the atmosphere was wonderful!

The best BBQ brisket I've had in a long time and being from Texas, that is no easy fete!

Can't wait to visit Florida to try it again!

Rodeo is just OK. JP and I drifted in this afternoon looking for a new place on the Drive. We default regularly to Rosie's, which is a safe bet for delicious American food. Here's the breakdown for the score:

Ambience: 4 stars. Clean decor, nice music and lighting. Very impressed with the atmosphere.

Service: 4 stars. Very nice waiter, very attentive and all-around great guy.

Food: 3 stars. Menu offerings were interesting. My Dos Sopes were a pair of gritty, hard corn cakes topped spartanly with some little bits of chicken, chorizo and beans, and both were stuffed with an unidentifiable cheese. The chicken was barely noticeable as was the chorizo. The guacamole was simply unforgivable. Being from California (and the rest of my family in TX), I'm used to forgiving Floridians for bad Mexican food. Sadly Rodeo must also be forgiven.

JP kindly shared his burger with me, which was quite a bit better than my entree, and honestly what kept this rating at 3 stars. The burger was moist, spicy and saucy. Did I just write that about a burger? I was hopeful at the mention of sweet potate-r tots, but they were just that, and quite ho-hum. JP liked his red sangria. I wouldn't wash windows with it. The pomegranate wheat organic ale was the discovery of the evening.

Price: 2 stars. For the quality of food and quantity of food, the prices were the most unpalatable part of the evening. The other reviewers are absolutely correct -- for $8 you can score a Rosie's burger, which is tastier and accompanied by amazing sides and rockin' atmosphere. My dinner entree at $14.50 was a complete miss.

We will probably return to Rodeo after they've had a few months to find their inner all y'all. In the meantime, for great Mexican food the Whole Enchilada is definitely where it's at!

First of all, considering the intense competition in today's South Florida dining and hospitality industry any entrepreneur who not only dreams about opening his own restaurant but actually fulfills this and making it a reality is an achievement in itself. I for one was humbled when paying Rodeo a visit.

After finding parking, which can be tricky unless you do your research beforehand, I was ready for some food!

Walking into this establishment for lunch I was greeted by a friendly "g'afternoon dear" almost immediately by one of the staff members. I know this may sound elementary to those "in the biz" but honestly dining in South Florida isn't always as easy as it sounds. Most times the customer has to not only put effort into being acknowledged by the restaurant staff just to get any kind of service, but also to maintain it throughout their visit.

Since dining alone I chose to take advantage of enjoying the rainy afternoon at the bar for my visit. The bartender was very friendly and not only greeted me as well, but introduced himself upon my settling in. Names are a very personal reflection on an individual and go along way with me so that was an immediate bonus. After receiving an ice water without even asking for it I choose to browse the menu for a few moments to figure out what "southern" cuisine I would be partaking in. I completely question why the previous review said Rodeo only offers TexMex???? This is far from the truth. Rodeo is trying to embrace a few signature dishes from ALL areas of the southern US, not just TexMex sir.

I also noticed that there was only beer and wine on the drink list and questioned the bartender about it. His response wasn't offensive at all and he explained that since liquor licenses for brand new establishments aren't grandfathered into new restaurants the business not only has to wait to obtain one but also has to pay an enormous sum of money to purchase it. So in the meantime they are trying to take advantage of a small but adequate offering of wine and domestic/craft brews. They are also trying improvise with what they can serve to their customers who are looking for some alcohol-satisfaction by creating their own sangria blends and other concoctions known as "beergaritas" and "winearitas". I was hesitant at first to try them both but have to admit they are quite a good mockup of the tequila margaritas considering the limited ingredients they are legally allowed to use for alcohol.

On to the food: I tried the BBQ pulled pork nachos for my appetizer and it was superb. I felt guilty not having anyone with me to share them with but did a sufficient job with the queso/BBQ mix all by myself. On to my main course, I chose to stick with the theme of my appetizer and went for the pulled pork sandwich. Now, having a very keen taste on this kind of staple I was doing my best to be fairly critical. But other than it being messy I really had no complaints, which in all honestly if you order one you really should expect it to be a hands-on experience or don't order it since you won't enjoy it!

Now for dessert, I actually wasn't able to eat anything else since I overindulged in my pulled pork dishes, but when I inquired what the selection was for the afternoon the bartender stated they had a Key Lime Tart, Southern Pecan Pie and also a mixed berry assortment with homemade whipped cream...either way YUM!!

So in conclusion, even though Rodeo is the new kid on "The Drive" yet and obviously still has some hiccups to smoothen out until they are fluent in what they represent, I believe they will be exceeding many critics' expectations considering they have only been open for a month. PLUS, if one were to see the size of the TINY TINY kitchen this restaurant has to not only prep but serve the items that made the lunch/dinner menu I think more pessimists would be open-minded to why they are trying to offer a smaller selection to excel in.

If you want a ten-paged menu that one can almost assume at least half of the items are sitting in a freezer and are not FRESH then go to the Cheesecake Factory and leave this blossoming gem alone!

If your looking for something different on the drive stop in to Rodeo... a southern restaurant and bar. You'll be greeted with that southern charm from the wait staff. The food has an authentic flare that personifies home style cooking! something that really impressed me was the "winearita"...tasted just like a margarita but made with wine!!

A great new addition to Wilton Drive.  Something completely fresh and original featuring dishes like Carne Asada, Shrimp and Grits, Chicken Fried Steak, Mac and Cheese (with three fancy cheeses, this is Wilton Manors after all), Fried Green Tomatoes with spicy Crab Meat Remoulade on top.   And lots more.  Everything we had was great.

Nice decor that suits the food and mood.  Overall ambience just about perfect.

No liquor bar but a real nice short well priced wine list.  Lots of different beers.    Real friendly attentive service and the owner is there making sure things are going well and everybody's happy.

And for a Sunday night in June they had a nice crowd.   Go and enjoy it and support this new independent restaurant in our neighborhood.
