Meh. This place wasnt really all that.
Came here on a week night, when I called ahead to make a reservation the hostess made it seem like the entire place was booked up and gave me a late dinner reservation (9:45). When we arrived the entire place was empty, except for another couple sitting outside on the terrace.
The place is beautiful inside. Very modern decor, the outside terrace is nice, candle lit, and the breeze from the water was pleasant.
Our server was nice. He came around and filled our glasses, answered any questions we  had about certain items on the menu.
The food was not good. We had ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer. They tasted like sand and were fishy. Obviously not fresh. I couldnt eat them.
I dont even remember what I had (good sign) and my husband had the ribeye, overcooked.
I wouldnt come back. It was not memorable in the least and I'd rather just go to Duffy's next door for cheap drinks with the same view.
The view was great, but the food was just average. We ordered the crab tempura appetizer which was actually pretty decent, but my main entree of chicken cutlets had a weird taste to it, and I didn't finish it or even take leftover which never happens! My boyfriend did enjoy his shrimp and scallop dish served over creamy mashed potatoes but overall, I wasn't impressed by this restaurant. However, if you want a great place to enjoy a nice view in a romantic setting, then this might be worth a try. Maybe I went on a bad night?
Review Source:The view alone is a great reason to eat or grab drinks here. The decor of the restaurant itself is  nice- chandeliers and such. Service was amazing- we literally never sat more than a couple minutes with an empty plate before someone whisked it away, and our glasses were never empty. We had the smoked scallop appetizer, which was fantastic, and I had steak for my entree- it was perfectly cooked to the medium-rare I'd asked for, and the sides were delicious as well. He had the snapper, and it was also delicious, well-cooked in a light sauce. We also tried two of their martinis, a choco razz which I loved, and the watermelon- which was made with fresh watermelon which is nice but as a result the watermelon flavor was actually too mild, so it was a bit strong for me.
Overall, a great romantic dinner date. The only suggestion I have is to be careful when you go- on a Friday night, the parking lot was insane, and we sat in a line of cars for quite sometime before we could actually park.
its a good thing I did not read yelp before I went to Rouge. Me and my fiance were invited here for a birthday celebration. We were a party of 16 and most of my party showed up on a boat and docked in the back (nice perk). The decor is great. The place is clean and the view was spectacular. Inside and dock dining was available. We started at the bar and the bartender was very good. We sat outside and were greeted with bread and truffle butter. Best part about a big party is we get to taste a little of everything. The apps were all excellent, oysters, baked almond brie with chutney and honey, shp and steak kbobs. All excellent. I ordered the ribeye and the only thing that kept this from being a 5 star experience is that my steak was a little over cooked but I got to try and Bass and the truffle mac n chz and those were excellent.. Dessert (on the house) was very good. OVERALL: Prices were a little high but the product was worth it. Service was very good. AND yes I will be going back.
Review Source:The food at this place is ok but overpriced. Drinks are even more over priced. I went there a couple months ago using a groupon which was valid on the whole menu which is what groupon showed on their website. I had another one to use which I tried last week. They decided to make their own groupon menu taking off all the expensive items. It was impossible to get the value groupon said it was worth. They refused to give me what we wanted so we got up and left. I will never step foot back in Rouge. Shame on them. I hope they go out of business soon. Do not go if you want to eat inside. They pretty much only use outside seating where it is hot smoky and humid.
Review Source:ROSES ARE ROUGE;
The ICW is blue.
We had a great meal;
Hope you will, too!
I have to admit I didn't have high hopes going in because the reviews weren't very good, but what a great surprise!! Â The space has been decked out in red and white with a "more is more" splashy exuberance, Â There are about a billion sparkly chandeliers and rhinestone-buttoned banquets and bedazzled tapestries on the walls. But for all the razzmatazz, it's really pretty comfortable. Â We sat in cushioned armchairs at a nice high table, and there were also some seating areas with comfy looking couches and low tables nearby.
We were seated right away even though we didn't have a reservation. Â The service team was friendly and quick, especially our charming young waiter.
The menu is a bit odd. Â They handed us clip boards: page 1-cocktails, page 2-wines, page 3-apps, entrees, and sides, page 3-desserts. Â Before we were seated, we were asked if we were using a Groupon and we said "yes." Â I think we didn't receive the complete menu because we were using the Groupon, but I'm not certain. Â I noticed 2 other reviews for Rouge posted this morning with meals described that were not offered to us.
Anyway, the food was really good! Â Beets were fantastic, chopped salad excellent. Â My companion had escargot which he enjoyed and a not-so-successful jumbo shrimp entree. Â They had lots of interesting seafood options and I really wanted to try more of the appetizers, too. Â Foolishly, we didn't save room for dessert, but next time, we'll try it for sure. Â
I'm really eager to return to Rouge!
WARNING* DON'T GO HERE. Â I went there and ordered a steak and it said "Ribeye steak" however it wasn't until I got halfway into it that I discovered that the steak was not cooked and was really chewy, even though I cut it in the center, which was ok but it was around the middle where the steak was chewy as a rubber tire. Â I then proceed on to dessert which was not fresh. Â It seemed to me that it was not fresh (the prices are outrageous for what you get. you should get a homemade slice of pie for those kind of prices). Â The waiter said they were fresh however I didnt believe him after I started to dig in. Â
As far as the management is concern....they don't know how to control mosquitoes during the evening. Â One of the waiters there took out one of those mosquito mist sprayers, WHILE I WAS EATING MY EXPENSIVE MEAL and sprayed inside and out of the restaurant. Â I guess because I was the only one eating there at the time. Â Or maybe because he wanted me to hurry up and finish my meal. Â Who knows.
The service was good. Â But the food left a bad taste in my mouth probably because of the mosquito spray.
I took my cousin to Rouge Waterfront Dining for her birthday. Â We were a group of 6. Â The decor and view is absolutely gorgeous. Â It has a romantic and upscale feel. Â The manager was very welcoming. Â The food is okay - a little overpriced. Â I don't think I would visit this restaurant again, but I don't regret picking it for her birthday. Â Specially, because they have a lounge next door. Â So, we had dinner and did some dancing. Â It's a nice dining experience that I recommend for fellow yelpers to try at least once.
Review Source:We enjoyed the outdoor setting overlooking the Intercoastal Waterway and the service was attentive without being overbearing. Â Our appetizer, the calamari salad was delicious, a great choice. Â Our entrees looked wonderful but my fish was a little dry. Â My husbands rack of lamb was tasty but very small portion, especially for the price. Â I would recommend Rouge Waterfront Dining fro the ambiance and atmosphere, waterfront dining with good food.
Review Source:Food was excellent! Â Had the blackened grouper...superb! Â My gf had the rack of lamb...was very good as well! Â Beautiful setting in front of the water, etc. Â Two major drawbacks - the service, on our particular night, was not very good - waiter seemed new on the job - and the music blaring from Duffy's next door certainly kills any romantic ambiance the waterfront scene provides!
Review Source:My boyfriend bought the $45 Groupon which included an appetizer and two entrees. I called around 7:45 pm on a Friday night and asked whether they recommended that we make a reservation... they made it seem like it was necessary though when we showed up at 8:30 the place was pretty empty. The ambiance was really nice, right on the water, modern furniture and decorations, etc. but you could definitely hear the music pumping from nearby Duffy's which kind of ruined the upscale feeling.
Very friendly and knowledgeable servers, but service was extremely slow especially for the place being so empty. We shared the ahi tuna tacos to start and the tuna was really on the chewy side. I had the black cod and lobster mashed potatoes for dinner and while the fish was cooked well, the overall plate lacked flavor. The mashed potatoes had a weird texture and were not warm when they arrived. My boyfriend had the New York steak and said it was pretty good. It was served with some type of potato souffle which he also liked.
However, we won't be dining at full price at this place in the future. If I had to pick between this place and nearby Pilar in Aventura, I would definitely go with the latter.
The restaurant is beautiful and the food was good. Â The bartender was great, outgoing and knew how to make a good drink. Â The waiter was definitely not ready for a group of 12. Â He was nervous, argued when we ordered our food. We kept explaining that everything we ordered would go in the middle of the table and be shared and he could not understand that and kept arguing. Â Other than that the place is great and again beautiful!
