I have been coming here for over 10 yrs. Nice relaxed casual atmos. Jeans are totally fine. Great local and regular beers on tap. Really nice people. Very eccentric with the decorating right down to the menus. But I like it. Quiz night is always a great time. Great food not too pricey.
Review Source:I've passed by here dozens of times, but never went in until last night. Â I'm glad I did. Â This place is just the right kind of quirky and cool that I love. Â An older, more relaxed crowd seems to be the general crowd. Â Drinks were a little expensive ($12.50 for a vodka/club), but the atmosphere was worth it. Â I only had an appetizer (blackened chicken fingers with a side of horseradish sauce), but they were phenomenal. Â My girlfriend has been here before and eaten entrees, and she said she's never been disappointed. Â Service was good and parking was adequate considering the size of the place. Â Go enjoy
Review Source:We went here a few weeks ago, after my wife's terrible train ride home, to get a bite to eat.
We were greeted by our friendly waitress, Michelle, who is also extremely helpful!!
After we couldn't decide on what beers we wanted to drink (that's where extremely helpful Michelle comes in), we started with and shared the chicken quesadilla which was very tasty.
For our entrees, I had the pastrami Reuben and my wife had the burger. We both really enjoyed our meals. Both were cooked well and very tasty (especially the Reuben!).
Also, they have a very good beer selection and the atmosphere is very laid back. It's a great place to catch up and chill with some friends while enjoying a few !
If you're looking for a relaxing bar with great microbrews do not look any further. Their beer selection is top notch and it has such a great chill atmosphere. The food is very good but the dinner selection is in my opinion overpriced. Their Monte cristo is great. My only other knock on this place is that it is so different every night. I have been there on a PACKED Friday night where you cant even find a place to stand, and yet the following Friday night you are the only one there except for the bartender. Other than that you can't go wrong with this place.
Review Source:Sage is a great local bar / restaurant / pub / cafe. Â The atmosphere is very welcoming with custom made glass blown lamps, homey wooden furniture and decor. Â
The bar serves a good variety of local and micro brew beers. Â
The food is always consistent. Â You can get anything from a burger to pan seared fish. Â
If you are in the mood for a very casual place this is the one for you.
From what I hear, a few years ago Sage was a hot spot; Wifey confirms it. she maintains a soft spot for Sage and still loves the place. It's a comfy cozy atmosphere with it's Shabby Chic décor.  The staff is friendly and seem to be the types that would remember your name.
The Wife was super-bummed as they decommissioned her favorite Chicken Teriyaki App. Good thing I checked Yelp before we went as Per Yelp recommendation *The Chicken Wings. We also went with the Bruschetta, and a Caesar Salad.
The Wing options are a dry rub variety or you have the sauce option they range from Mild to Atomic. We chose the Mild. The wings are cooked well done. The Wing Sauce is of the sweet and firey, finger lickin' good variety. The mound of Bruschetta covered a couple of Italian Bread slices with a thin layer of Pesto. It gave the Bruschetta a nice flavor. A couple of extra slices O' Bread would've been nicer. The Caesar was passable.
Sage Cafe is a good place to come drink for a low key night. I can't speak on the entrees but it's kinda pricey for what you get. Sage beats a chain any day and is worth checking out if you are in the area.
I'll preface my review with saying that at 23 years old I am part of the younger crowd that may inhabit the Sage. Â Take that as you will. Â If you don't mind the older ambiance, the Sage Cafe is a nice place to enjoy intimate company with a solid selection of local micro brews - they are always up-to-date with the Blue Point Brewery - and sound bar food.
Daily specials take advantage of the local produce and seafood in the area. Â Expect comfort food interpretations. Â Their regular menu consists of your standard bar food: quesadillas, burgers, french onion soups; nothing outrageous. Â Then again, you're not going to a place like this for radical interpretations of bar food.
Wait, you are? Â I'm sorry. Â The next tidbit regardless of expectation should make you happy.
What you will return to the Sage for are their buffalo wings. Â You will not find meatier, juicier and well-sauced wings anywhere in the area. Â The dish's presentation is even solid. Â The carrots served with the celery have a distinct thatched cut. Â It makes the dish that more comfortable.
I will go as far to say that you are hard-pressed to find better wings on the island. Â Of course, if you know a place please let me know.
If you plan on going on the weekend, plan to get their a little earlier as seating, especially larger tables, are limited.
With the Sage you will be thinking two things: older ambiance and buffalo wings. Â If you like both or at least one, let it be the latter, than you will enjoy yourself.
A great room at the end of Nichols Road. Â I agree with Ken S. in that this was a 5 stars place in the past, now I feel impartial to it. . . The Sage Cafe is still a safe bet for an occasional hang with some out-of-towners, but not a place to make a regular haunt. Â Good taps with a seasonal rotation (Blue Points) but they add up quick. Â The Sage has a friendly staff with an open-minded atmosphere and late-night kitchen: Happy hour special of clams on the half shell, $10 a dozen.
Review Source:A few years ago I would have rated the Sage 5 stars...but its been slowly slipping.
The Jukebox is top notch - my opinion, no better jukebox in a bar that Ive ever been to...the selection of beers has always been great - especially all the Blue Point brews - and their food is really good - whether youre there for appetizers or a full meal - but the staff there has gone downhill...
First Jimbo left, then Lydia...now Im left with people who I dont know and its just not the same. Â The crowds have thinned a little too.
I still have a great time...but its just not the same.
