Off Key Tikki

If I coud give 0 stars I would.. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!! I came here to celebrate my friends engagement, by getting some drinks, apps and dinner. Well, first off, we had to pay a $10 cover to even get in, even though we were having a sit down dinner.. The waitress comes over and says the kitchen is really backed up, so we can't take any food orders.  I look around, and half the tables were empty, so why was the kitchen "backed up?"  When we finally did get to order, they didn't have a few items on the menu, so we had to change our order.  When we finally got a our food, LITERALLY AN HOUR LATER, it was cold and not what we ordered.  My avocado chicken salad had to be one of the worth things I have EVER ATE! It's not that difficult to mess up a salad, but leave it to Off Key Tikki.  The salad was supposed to come in a tortilla bowl, and didn't.  When asked if we could get the bowl, the waitress says "Oh let me check" and comes back 5 minutes later and says, "yeah, as you probably would have guessed, we don't have any."  The salad was skimpy, with barely any avocado, and the few pieces that were in there were NOT ripe and were not edible.  The grilled chicken was actually cold and so rubbery, you couldn't even chew it.  The best part of the meal was that my friend ordered a salad, which came out with every vegetable you can think of, including potatoes, that were FRIED.  The whole plate was fried food on top of 3 pieces of lettuce.  It was ridiculous.  This place is ridiculous.  We sat on plastic chairs at plastic tables that would be used for an outdoor BBQ and our food was served on plastic plates with plastic utensils.  It's unfortunate, because the place has potential to be a cool, laid back tikki bar right on the water, but this place needs to close down.  I could only imagine the amateurs running this place.  IT'S A COMPLETE JOKE- DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!!!

This was a very unique place, but there are other places similar to this around now.   The good, bad and ugly...  I like that this place has an older crowd, but could be a little flexible I feel.  The group on line in front of us, wasn't allowed to bring their 28 year old daughter into the restaurant.  The doorman seemed like he was going to allow them in, but the owner an old ragtag looking fellow, I later find to be named Michael, I don't know his full name.  At another time met another owner, Rob who I also didn't get his full name, but seems really nice.   The doorman was very nice, especially compared to another place down the road.  We weren't thrilled about each paying a $10 cover on a Sunday for dinner and listen to a mediocre band at best.   The place was beautiful with the palm tree's, sand and being on the water.   There was a wait for dinner which is expected on a beautiful summer Sunday.  The drink prices were a sticker shock, but they were good.  We had a couple drinks before and after dinner at the bar.  The bartenders were good,  It was crowded so couldn't stick with one bartender each time we got drinks, but the drinks were really good.   Our bartenders was Mike Fortini, who I have seen at other bars around, and Anthony Bracchi,  There was a girl behind the bar, but wasn't helped by her.  Like I said the drinks were good and the bartenders seemed to have fun and enjoy what they were doing.   We waited about 45 minutes to seat 4 of us, which I think they might of forgotten us but when were seated, never felt forgotten. Our waiter was Tim Flaherty and he truly new what he was doing... Always seems attentive to our needs.  We had a waitress also ask if we needed anything when walking by from other dinners, but didn't get her name.  The food was terrible for me, but was good and great for my friends.  I ordered a burger that I was not impressed with... the bread was stale and the meat fell apart.  One of me girl friend's ordered a salad which she liked and thought was good (hard to mess up a salad), my other girl friend's ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and steak tidbit and they loved it.  I had some of the chicken and thought it was really good.  I should of gotten that instead.   But our waiter Tim asked if I wanted something else or a refund.  Took the refund of the burger and got drinks a round of drinks on the house.     Overall, great atmosphere and staff, mostly good food and drinks,  pricey on the food and drinks and cover, live music was not good at all.  Didn't think we should of been charged a cover for dinner.  We have been here since, but because of the prices not as often as we would like.

i WANTED this place to work out - we all did!  it was a rainy Sunday and therefore slow so you think the service would be great. NOPE!  We had the World's Worst Waitress.  First she kept coming every 5 minutes asking if our 4th guest had arrived yet (apparently she didn't see the still-empty chair) and if we wanted to order (no, but we'll take drinks).  She didn't know that there was a second drink menu (um, it's on the bar...and you work here!).  She didn't know that Sunday's are the Beach Party ($4 coronas and free hot dogs - she thought we made up the free hot dogs until we WALKED HER OVER TO THE SIGN).  Then she said it wasn't applicable when it was raining, so we had to show her the line at the top that said "Rain or Shine".  Then she said "well, not when it rains heavy like THIS".   What???    Drinks were strong but after ordering 6 rum punches we ordered a 7th and it was wrong.. she said "we have 2 bartenders, and they don't have a recipe for this so they just wing it".  HUH???  Later in the night she thanked us for ordering them because "the rest of the girls and myself have never tasted these specialty drinks and so we're really glad that we got a chance to - thanks".  Oh Boy.    Food:  if you still go after reading these crappy reviews, order the Pork "Wings" - they are amazing and unique. Very filling.  Do NOT get the cod sandwich at $14 - i woudl have done better (and cheaper) calling up the Gorton's Fisherman.   Their specials of scallops and fresh fish were moist and delicious.  Their WaHoo steak we made sure to double-say to the waitress "medium RARE" - you know by this point that it came back well done.  ugh.    Valets told us that they brought the cars to the front door (they were going home) and gave us our keys back.. when we walked outside in the rain, they were parked as far away as possible in a fully empty lot!  ???

Only go if it's sunny outside, you are over 30 (and I am!), you don't care about service, and you want to hear some cover tunes while pretending you're in Key West - and go during happy hour, otherwise the specialty drinks are $11 each.
