So as to not get us mixed up, the waitress called me "honey" and the guy at the other end of the u-shaped, island counter "sweetie."  I thought it best not to veer too far off the beaten path here, so I had the item that is listed first at the top left of page one - classic burger, with cheese and crinkle cut fries.  The second listing is a patty melt.  The burger was cooked appropriately as ordered and served with the standard lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle set up.  The crinkle cut fries had a seasoning salt on and worked out fine with a bit of help from Heinz.  The counter and all the tables were clean and well cared for.  Same can be said of the restrooms.  The service was a tad slow, but overall still correct.  I had to laugh to myself about all three TV's in the room being tuned to the same station - FOX news.  Maybe it's corporate policy, I'm sure they change the channel if the Broncos are playing.  The décor is classic truck stop; wooden paneling on top with tin metal work on the bottom, sports memorabilia and jerseys in frames adorn the working class walls.  I did not have time to venture into the truck stop store, I'll have to do that next time I'm in the neighborhood.
Review Source:I've been to the cafe here several times, mostly for breakfast. Â I've never had issues with the food; in fact, my breakfasts have always been excellent. Â The service though, can be spotty. Â Once when I came for dinner, I got the wrong order. Â Rather than wait, I ate what I got, which was a chicken fried steak. Â It was pretty good by my standards, but then I'm no chicken fried steak connoisseur. Â I have also had to flag a waitress down for coffee and the check, but I've always come out fine.
Review Source:Alright, I went back again yesterday morning, but not to the cafe... I stopped by, just because this place is near where I work, because I wanted an energy drink. Â I walked in around 9am and saw a little cart inside where you can have a breakfast burrito made! Â It smelled and looked great so I got in line. Â I just got something basic, eggs, potatoes, green chili and cheese. Â It was GROSS! Â The tortilla was stale and tasted like it was about to go bad. Â The potatoes tasted like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time and the cheese tasted like the bag was opened a week ago, it had that stale taste to it too. Â It was a waste of money because I didn't finish eating it. Â It was also nearly $4! Â What a rip off!
Overall, this place is a GREAT little truck stop if you just want a bottle of soda, some candy, a bag of chips or something simple. Â They have a large selection of snack foods and drinks. Â Checking out is a bit of a nightmare though, the ladies that run the cash registers are RIDICULOUSLY slow. Â Especially when they're dealing with old men that drive trucks and they're trying to figure out fuel. Â It's extremely frustrating to sit in line for 10 minutes (no joke!) when you just want a drink and a snack. Â Just don't ever come here if you're in a hurry.
On another note, there is a Subway located inside as well. Â I stopped in for lunch a few weeks ago and was seriously disappointed. Â They don't carry provolone cheese, guacamole or spinach at this location... WTF? Â The ladies behind the counter were kind of huffy and when I went through the line and ordered my sandwich, the area where the food was being stored and where sandwiches were being made was TRASHED! Â I absolutely hate olives, but there were olives all over the lettuce. Â I asked nicely that they pick the olives out of my sandwich, but they didn't get them all. Â In the middle of eating my sandwich, I got a few bites of olive which I promptly spit out.
I just recommend that you DON'T EVER COME HERE AND ORDER FOOD THAT SOMEBODY IS GOING TO MAKE FOR YOU. Â The cafe is so-so, not horrible, but not wonderful either. Â Just go with the pre-packaged chips or something if you're hungry. Â This place has plenty of pre-packaged food that one of the incompetent people here didn't make. Â You'll be better off. Â TRUST ME!
I was about to give this place one star, but it's not quite THAT bad. Â Just stay away from the burrito cart, Subway and only enter the Cafe knowing that you won't be impressed and you'll be fine. Â If there is a line at the counter, just leave if you're in a hurry because the slow ladies running the cash registers will make you late for whatever you need to get to. Â That pack of smokes or can of Coke isn't worth the pure frustration you'll go through while waiting for Susy Checker Girl to make her brain function faster than a snail's pace and quit flirting with the truck drivers.
I was starving and could not figure out what I wanted to eat. The waitress said their chicken fried steak was the best. Boy, was she wrong. It was overcooked, thin and lacked flavor. The waitress brought my entree but forgot the sides which were awful. The hash browns were raw and cold. My waitress went on a break and was replaced with a rude inattentive substitute. I got dessert (It was my birthday). I asked if they had banana cream pie. The waitress took off for 12 minutes and asked if I wanted some. Food was not good, service was garbage. This is not a review of all Sapp brothers. This location needs to learn from some of the others.
