This closed in summer of 2006.
They used to serve good afternoon tea, but service became increasingly worse until I got food poisoning and decided never to come again.
Tea came with your selection of tea leaves infusion and teapot, strainer, nice cup and saucer, sugar cubes (lemon upon request) and the finger foods were served on a multi-tiered displayer with huge scones, mini sandwiches or open faced sandwiches and little fruity and sweet tartlets. Very daity and pleasant! When the caterer/owner was still overseeing things it was very good, and when her husband took over it was still good... it all started to go downhill when they left it in the hands of the staff who, IMHO, didn't actually have a strong commitment in the continued success of the place.
Their regular menu had nice southern style dishes and desserts, their iced tea tasted strangely off though. They used to have special events such as mom and daugther teas, and red hat ladies meetings.
It was one of two possible locations in this area for my mom and I to have afternoon tea, so we felt bad that it closed, but my stomach thanks whomever's idea it was to close! The space remains unfilled one year later.
My friend and I went here once. Â The tea was directly from a tea bag and four times as expensive. Â For what I paid to get one cup of Tazo tea, I could have bought a whole box from Whole Foods. Â My friend had the finger sandwiches, she loved them, an a dessert sampler.
I guess others found this to be a waste of money because it is out of business now
I gotta hand it to them, they make a mean tea. Â It's interesting to check out because choosing tea can be like choosing wine or beer. Â It's quite civilized, and you'll likely have two or more generations when you go, but the menu is extensive while remaining focused on southern cajun cooking. Â Take your mom, or go for a baby shower - very girly.
