Cool bar. Expensive drinks that are usually worth it. I recommend going on an "off" night because the bar is tiny and better when there are less people.

Each drink is a poem of unmatched complexity, delighting different senses between and across and within every sip. This place is truly a treasure.

Look, I KNOW I'm going to get plenty of boos and hisses for this review. I get it. This place makes some yummy cocktails and the menu changes (which I like). Bartenders are always friendly and knowledgeable. Sadly, though, this Death & Co. wannabe will never be so because it lets WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE IN. Look, I'm not talking about clubby, velvet rope, douchebag exclusivity (I like the mixed crowd usually found here). I'm talking first come, first served, quality-control measures. Put a cap on it, you guys. Make it about the experience. You absolutely obliterate what you've got going for yourselves.

This place is cool enough that I *almost* regret not living in Tucson so I could be here all the time.

The bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable, and true "mixologists." I thought the experience might be a little pretentious (Portlandia, anyone?). I was relieved that although the bartenders take their work seriously, they're not going to shun you if you mispronounce the name of one of the exotic ingredients. It's also very fun to watch how vigorously the bartenders mix, shake, pour all of the wonderful parts of your drink.

I love being able to give the bartender a few ideas about what I like and then having him make a beautiful, creative, and unique cocktail that I've never heard of. My date and I had five different cocktails between us and each was wonderful. If you're up for an adventure, ask the bartenders to make you something and give them a few tips about the taste you want.

It does get crowded so I recommend going as soon as it opens. Sit at the bar so you can chat with the bartenders and watch them make your amazing drink! Don't order a beer.

Cute little speakeasy located in an area with other bars. Has a modern, rustic, and urban feel with the bruck walls, shelves lined with books and knick knacks, and plush chairs. The bartender there has a very cool personality and makes one of a kind concoctions with steez. Sit at the bar because it's entertaining hearing his jokes as he meticulously mix each drink to perfection. The bar is very small and has limited seating, but that makes for a more cozy environment. We had the bourbon, absinthe, and Bury the Devil, which is has egg white and soy sauce in it...interesting! Come here on any given night, be ready to try a unique drink, and sit back and relax with friends.

Super creative with their cocktails. Every drink I had was amazing. Be prepared to drop a decent amount of money though.

This just wasn't my idea of a great place. If you are into the "trendy, cool, hipster, over priced, snobby, snuddy, claustrophobic" scene, then yeah this is great. I paid $12 for a drink that I didn't even know what half the ingredients were, while standing shoulder to shoulder with about 45 people jammed into a tiny room. The drink was unstomachable. If that's not a word, if should be added to urban dictionary with a picture of the "mother of runes" cocktail at scott and co.

If you want a really awesome place to hang out, go to the tap room at hotel congress .

Awful service. I have never been treated so poorly by a bartender in my life. He reprimanded me for politely asking for a drink menu. No place that disrespects polite costumers deserves my business. Nobody greeted us when we walked in the door and it felt very uncomfortable.

These professionals are devoted to excellence. Even more importantly, they respect tradition. You can call any old school cocktail and it will be made how it was supposed to be made. Sometimes you might also get an interesting history lesson about the drink and/or a spirit, and a heads up about important variations. If they make something different from the traditional recipe they dare not call it by its original name.

Case and point, order an old fashioned. Every jackwagon under the sun messes around with this cocktail and these abominations taint all the nascent nouveau middle class downtown restaurants.  At Scott and Co. your old fashioned will be made to the same exactly recipe by anyone behind the counter. Of course, the personal touch from each person will yield a slightly different taste, and that's the point because that's how quality is supposed to be discerned.

That being said, the guys at Scott and Co. are also amazingly innovative and I have thoroughly enjoyed their seasonal menu's and unique creations--especially their Tiki cocktails. I also highly recommend their you-call-its.

There are a lot of joker's trying to pass off sloppy watered down or sickeningly sweet cocktails for $10-12. Skip the disappointment and go here.

Scott & Co. is a downtown gem. All of its facets make it shine (Yes, I know. Awesome pun, right?): an intimate atmosphere, knowledgeable bartenders, an inventive drink menu, and that special exclusive feeling that comes from an out-of-the-way location. Stop by and settle into their little room for a novel drinking experience.

VERY impressed with the bartending at this cozy little establishment. our bartender had an amazing breadth of knowledge regarding spirits both foreign and domestic, and made some fine beverages to boot. oftentimes you will see "interesting" concoctions on cocktail menus that perk your interest but don't please the tongue. happily, the intriguing mixes on the menu here deliver with a BANG! When asked about some of the ingredients, our bartender not only provided good explanations, but whiffs and tastes of some of the more unorthodox ones. i also enjoyed how he segued into facts regarding liquors in the same family as the ones we were asking about. i like a little learning with my buzz!

Libational imagineering.. if that ain't a phrase it should be. Mixologists everywhere should pull up a barstool and take notes.

You can't possibly have dinner at 47 Scott, next door, and miss Scott & Co. Just. Don't. Do, It.

To say their drinks are creative is an insult to creativity. Put it this way... my wife is not an out of the box person. You tell 'em what you like and they shall fix it. She ended up with the Mother of Runes, based on what I told the Jedi behind the bar. At first, she did not like it. By the end, she changed her tune, and not just because her drink was strong, but because the combination came together... probably a Jedi mind trick.

I, on the other hand, do not fall for those mind tricks. It's Lift The Curse for me. You had me at Cognac. Smoky, nutty , herbaceous, as promised on the menu, and just plain tasty.

A note I want to add: I noticed that, once the drink was made, the bartenders would taste the drink before they served it. It was done in a sanitary way with a straw, summarily discarded. This, to me, is much like a chef tasting food before it's served; why not?

The secret's out on this cool little speakeasy type bar in our own fair city. Downtown's taking shape, Better get there before you can't.

What's not to love? Intimate, cool, dark little bar with uber-talents behind the bar.  No silly flavored vodkas to be seen (but I did see my favorite Chopin on hand!). Thankfully, not that kind of place. Been a few times now and have never been disappointed.

I've had a pending five-star review saved in my yelp drafts for weeks, waiting until I nuanced just how much I appreciate the excellence of Scott & Co. Unfortunately tonight has dramatically altered how I feel about this Arizona gem.

At the end of a very long road trip, my girlfriend and I stopped in Tucson to grab one drink here before making the trek back to Phoenix. Since Scott & Co. wasn't going to be open for two more hours, we decided to postpone our return for a while and grab dinner first at 47 Scott. We still had time to kill after our fabulous dinner and although we were antsy to get home, waited for the door to Scott & Co. to open.

At two minutes to open, the door opened and we were abruptly told "we won't be opening for a few hours. We have a utility problem."

    Well. Bummer.

I completely understand and sympathize with the fact that unforeseen events come up, and sometimes things don't go as planned. God only knows things can go terribly wrong at my OWN cocktail bar sometimes.

Ultimately, it's a shame that we hung around in Tucson for two extra hours for nothing. We wouldn't have stopped at all if we had known. But what really bothers me about this situation is the lack of good customer service that we encountered. No apology, no sympathy or empathy, no effort to compensate us for our wasted time.  This is the service industry, and the ultimate goal is to get the food or drink to the customer - it was blatantly clear that wouldn't be happening tonight, and our detour to Tucson was time wasted.

I am left wondering... Why would a bar that opens so late in the evening - 6pm, mind you - need to postpone opening additional hours? Your sister spot was already open, functioning (and oblivious to any issues over at the bar-side) for two hours. And what were you doing this morning? I know Saint House isn't open yet.

Best drinks! That is for sure. I don't ever go here like other restaurants and just order a glass of wine to be safe, I order a GOOD drink. Best bartenders I have ever seen! It can get a little crowded and it is pricy, but I can't wait to go back soon for some happy hour action! The Pisco Punch, Vagabond, and Mojito are all favorites, but I can't wait to take the advice of Molly H and try the Mai Tai! As for food, I am not usually a fan of fries, but their fries here are super super good and addicting! Cheese plate awesome! Who doesn't love cheese? I did try a dessert one night. Some sort of chocolate cake. Really dry. I think I will just stick to food and drink!

Where to begin with this place!?  My cousin's bf (who doesn't even live in Tucson) recommended we try this "speakeasy" after we hopped around a couple bars in downtown Tucson.

We walked down and found this bar and couldn't even see a sign or anything out front.  This could have been due to darkness or other factors, but I liked that about it.  You kind of had to discover it.   Upon walking in, I was just blown away.  Had a very "security society" vibe to it although the place was pretty packed with people.  The lighting and style of the bar made me feel like I was taken back in time and was just enamored with it.

We luckily found a spot in the place and we went up to the bar and looked at the drinks selection.  To be honest, don't remember if they had beer, but all I saw were various unique cocktail choices.  I ordered a rum and coke, but the rum was from central america which I recall being very impressed with.  The bartender was nice enough to take all of our drinks to the table we were at.  The prices were a little high for a drink, but due to the creativity and of course quality, i would be happy to pay it.

Had a great time and highly recommend.

I do not want to give this a rating at this time but you cannot post a Yelp without assigning some stars.  It seems the place is in a period of transition as the bartender that launched them into the national press is now in Oregon (where young people go to retire).  We've been a couple times since Ciaran left.  One of the guys taking over is a bit insecure.  He's a fairly good bartender but his chatter is full of himself and his attitude clearly lets you know he's aware that big shoes need to be filled.  Another of the new guys is tall and thin and he is far superior.  Knows his craft quite well and is secure enough to be gregarious and professionally friendly.  I'm hoping he sticks around.

I have never had a bad drink at Scott & Co. and I've had something different every time I've been in.  The bartenders make you feel at home despite an air formality that results from taking their craft extremely seriously.  The small size and atmosphere is ideal for two or three people but not for big groups.

We started off a birthday celebration in this awesome place last weekend and were very impressed.  You have to order at least one drink from their unique cocktail menu they're awesome!  We tried three while waiting for our table next door and I wish I could remember their names but one had vodka and grapefruit (along with other stuff), one was peach and rum and one was whiskey.  There is a big production of making the cocktail from breaking off chunks of ice (cool!) to combining all the ingredients and then shaking the crap out of them.  They were delicious and we wished we had more time to just sit and enjoy our surroundings but that will be another day.  This time we were quietly whisked out the back passageway to our table next door - very speakeasyish :D

So we wandered around searching for this spot around midnight on a Friday.  The word "speak easy" was being thrown around a lot... & to be honest with you, I was scared that we were entering a gimmicky trap.  Just the opposite.  This place really transported us.  I loved the atmosphere... it's almost like you've stumbled into a secret you shouldn't really know about.

The cocktails are glorious.  Seriously.  You can tell the bartenders know what they're doing -- not just pouring random ingredients into a glass.

    New favorite spot.

If you want a fancy drink this is the place to go! Very small and intimate, so expect to wait a bit if you go after 830 or 9 o'clock. It's a great place for a date if you go early in the evening (they open at 6). They give you a limited menu with about 15 drinks. I usually just tell the bartender what kind of alcohol I want and ask them to surprise me.

I'm not giving it 5 stars b/c I went for happy hour (between 6-7) and they did not give me happy hour prices. Part of this was my fault because I forgot to mention the price, but when I got home I realized that they charged me full price. Other than that the place is excellent.

Purveyors of fine handcrafted goods indeed!  Some of the best cocktails this side of the Mississippi.  Love the Moscow Mule and the theatrical way the bartenders work.  It's a small little joint and it fills up quickly, but if you have a game date who doesn't mind rubbing shoulders, it is definitely worth squeezing in.

Combine Cafe Poca Cosa for dinner, with a drink here afterwards, and they call that the T-town panty-dropper.

I feel guilty for writing so many 5 stars reviews, but Yelp has been coming through and saving my butt from possibly wasting my money on lesser quality places. My parents recommended Scott & Co. to me because I just love drinks with depth.

The bar is sooooooo small yet cozy. It definitely can't sustain a crowd larger than 20 comfortably. They have bar seating and super comfy love seats centered around a little tiny table. Ambiance kinda makes you feel like you should be sneaking around (prohibition era.) Speak Easy is the first thing that comes to mind. The dimply lit room allows for nice casual conversation without having to yell over the crowd.

Now I've had a hankering for Tequila for quite some time and I never know that many Tequila drinks to order besides 3-4. So I went ahead and put my trust in these masters behind the bar. I went with the bartenders choice where you pick your poison and let them do the rest. After seeing the grin on his face I knew that I would be pleasantly surprised. He proceeded to turn around and start chiseling ice for my drink off the block....WTF? hell yeah!

When my drinks (yes drinks, asked for one and made me two so as to not waste the rest of the mixture) came he began to break down every ingredient to me and explain the process of making it. I walked back to my chair and had such a nice night cap that I almost wanted to ask for the recipe. But I didn't want to loose the allure of this bar by learning their secrets. If I can compare my drink to another I would say an Old Fashioned but with Tequila. So if you folks are in Tucson and want to eat a classy/inventive meal next door at 47 Scott and walk next door to top your night off than this is the place for you.

Before this review begins, I want to get two facts about me out in the open: 1) I like whiskey. 2) I like having whiskey breathe. Great! Now we can proceed.

After a fantastic meal next door at the connected and obviously dually owned 47 Scott, I decided to see if I could push my luck for some post-dinner "desert" at Scott & Co. Walking in I was immediately bombarded olfaction-style with the smell of a forest fire. Fortunately for me and downtown Tucson, there was no such fire; however, 47 Scott seemingly was piping scents through their vents (I should be a poet) a la Las Vegas casinos, and this smell hit the spot. If I could combine the scent 50-50 with Old Spice and wear it as cologne, I would no longer have to use my dashing good looks (no) to seduce women. Hell, I'd settle for my body odor to smell like this. Something about smelling like a redwood Californian forest fire extinguished with a heavily-peated scotch just happens to be appealing to me, OKAY?

Before ordering, I noticed how small the place was. A modest bar with a few tables along the side. If there were more than 15 people in here it would be overwhelming. The bartender himself was constantly sampling his creations via pipette straw, recalibrating, adjusting, and only then serving when the drink got his nod of approval.

On to the drinks. The place is so dimly lit that I had to hold the menu 2 inches from my face and light it with my cell phone. I call the lighting scheme "sexy-time". After perusing the menu for a few minutes I decided on the Vieux Carré (rye, cognac, vermouth, Bénédictine, and bitters) and was very pleased with my decision. Next, I was feeling fairly frisky and wanted to see if the tender of the bar was up for a challenge. I asked him if he could make me a drink based on the fact that I drink peated Islay singlemalts and Old Fashioneds by the vat-load and he produced a drink worthy of a Nobel Peace Price. No? Well, maybe a Tony Award. It's not important. What's important is that it was one of the best cocktails I've had the fortune to sip. What I saw go into the drink that just took 4 minutes to mix was the following: bourbon, apple brandy, infinity drops from miscellaneous pipettes, infused tobacco something-or-other, mole bitters, hand-carved ice, a few sprays of Laphroaig to finish, love, etc. So much etc. All that etc. I will not foul the grandeur of this drink with more inadequate words, so I will leave my ingredient list to marinate in your brain.

    Summary: This is my jam.

This is one of my favorite bars in the whole city.  The ingredients are fresh, appear to be made in house, and the drinks are definitely unique, but what really stood out to me was the relaxed cozy vibe and the corresponding group of people it attracted.  High quality drinks in my kind of atmosphere will keep me coming back, I just hope it doesn't start getting too crowded in here when more people discover it, as the petite establishment could become inadequate.

    Tiki-bar for hipsters.

Great place to go after dinner downtown.  I liked the atmosphere.

The bartenders will make just about anything you want. They don't have a large inventory so if you like a specific brand of liquor this isn't your place.  That was my only complaint.

The short a sweet: great masterful drinks, super cozy feel. Super short on space. It's a perfect "surprise, bet you didn't know this was here there's not even a sign that's how in the know I am" place for a date. But only come here with 1 other person, there's not room for more than that.

Also make sure you've got some time to watch your drink being made (almost as fun as drinking it) and sitting back to enjoy the space if you get a seat.

This is a place for grown-ups, and I love it. Scott and Co. has never disappointed me. It's a winner for atmosphere, a small space with a cozy, speakeasy-style, intimate low lighting and cool apothecary-like bottles on the wall.

The bartenders here take their sweet time making cocktails, but it's worth the wait. This isn't a "do a shot and run" sort of place. It's a place to relax, have some good conversation -- the bar setup seems to lend itself to random friendly conversations, and it's one of the few bars I would ever feel comfortable going by myself and not feeling weird about it.

Now, the drinks, the star of the Scott and Co. show... there's something for everyone on their menu, even people who don't normally order cocktails. Mixology is an art here, and each drink is crafted with the utmost old-fashioned care. I've had some very unique concoctions here, with ingredients like brandy, grapefruit twists, various bitters, egg white, and for the brave, ghost-pepper infusions. It's fun just to watch the intricate process of creating the cocktail.

    Highly recommended.

This place is dimly lit, romantic and comfortable. As almost all of the other Scott & Co enthusiasts have mentioned, they come here for the unique drinks, knowledgeable staff and cozy atmosphere. The drinks are pricey and for good reason. I would recommend letting the bartender know your liquor of choice and having them make you a delicious concoction that will delight your taste buds. It would be a waste of a bartender to order a vodka tonic here.

It is a shame to hear others say that this place is now packed on the weekend, since that would damper the intimate atmosphere that is achieved by having a small, cozy bar. The last time I stopped in was on a Monday night, and I was enchanted just as Jennifer P. described.

Scott and co is a place for unabashed mixologist lovers. The space is small (don't call it cramped, call it intimate). The bartenders are quick, precise and passionate about their art. The ingredients are top notch (especially the alcohol) and the resulting drink are strong, flavorful and unique.

I'm always a fan of the bartender's choice (absinth stirred always gets me something wonderful). The Shake Appeal and Pale Blue Eyes are my stand bys.

If I could take anything home from our trip to Tucson, it would be Scott & Co.
Karl elevates his craft to another stratum.  His historic eloquence in all things spirited, muddled with prodigious panache & kinetic agitation.
    I was over the moon.
And probably my limit, but with each libation divulging its tale; flavors layered like pages of a novel you can't put down.  Yes, my dream begins with Scott & Co. in my carry on..

I love Scott & Co! I don't know why it's taken me this long to write a review! I love the speak easy feel of the place even though it can get a bit crowded. The college crowd does leave when they realize that they don't sell Corona or shots of Patron.

The drinks Ciaran and co make are always a pleasant surprise, but in a good way! Drinks are made especially for you. The bartenders/mixologist/artist take their time to hear what you like to drink and make you something to your liking. My boyfriend likes to ask for "bartenders choice". Pick your favorite spirit, chat with the bartender about how you like your drinks (citrus-y, minty, surprisy) and the bartenders will make you something unique. You won't be disappointed! I enjoy the moscow mule and pimm's cup here.

You will not find any sweet & sour mix or pre-made atrocities in this place. However there are a lot of house-made infusions that you won't find anywhere else in town. These infusions and knowledgeable staff are what makes Scott & Co nationally recognized by the likes of The New York Times and Details Magazine. Cheers!

The only bad thing about Scott & Co is that someone has let the cat out of the bag. I went a few nights ago on a Saturday to have a nice peaceful drink, shocked to find half of Tucson crammed into this small space. The place felt like an overstuffed sauna. Many thanks to the hipster with B.O. who has decided that he is too cool to shower, that was awesome!

I remember when (warning: nostalgia to follow) Scott and Co was still speakeasy-esque, with a small group of people quietly exploring decadent cocktails. If those days are over (and it seems they are), they will still have me as a loyal customer. The thing about this place is that it always delivers. Good attentive service, and yummy drinks. I swear their bartenders know every cocktail ever made. They even put up with my stupid requests ('I want something that is like a gin and tonic but crazier with, um, maybe basil and some other liquor but i don't want it to taste like gasoline'...) and somehow always hand me a drink that is just outside my comfort zone but not too far, and always delicious.

Please, don't tell your friends about this place.

I have to say after many trips to Scott & Co I long for their tasty beverages every time I have a mediocre one somewhere else.

Ciaran knows his shit and so does every other bartender in there. I have recently had the mai tai and the pisco sour. I am trying to drink other stuff there but I am so happy with those two drinks it's hard for me to venture out. One of my favorite nights there was Michael Jackson night. That place was playing the King of Pop all night long.

I have to agree with Cheryl I sort of cringe when the frat bros and sorority chicks show up. I just don't see how ordering a dirty martini at a place like that makes you cool. Good thing is they don't stay very long.

Thank you Scott & Co for the many wonderful times I have had in your bar!

Best drinks in town! The drinks are creative, unique and always changing. Each drink takes a while to make so if there are a lot of people it may be a little bit of a wait. But it is well worth it!

I was recently in New York and we tried an awesome speak easy type bar. While we were there, we were chatting to the owner and told him we were from Arizona. His face lit up and he said we had to try Scott & Co and that "those guys were doing some really cool things". Got to love it when Tucson gets a shout out in New York!

Scott & Co is exactly what an intimate speak easy style bar should be. They are so unique and your experience is centered around your friends and beverage. If you want to get soused,  party, or club- this is not the place for you. This is a laid back, hole in the wall, establishment where you can relax and enjoy a hand-crafted cocktail. The bartenders there know their stuff and serve up elegant and delicately made cocktails of all kinds. As some other reviewers have said the cocktails take a bit longer than your standard bar/pub but they are far and away better. You can taste the tender love and care in every sip.

This quiet little place is perfect for chatting with friends and staying a while. You will never feel rushed by a bartender here and they will happily discuss the drinks with you, if they are not laboring over another beautiful drink. I love this place it is all about the experience and my only complaint is I wish I lived closer.

After a show downtown a few friends and I went to Scott & Co for a cocktail before leaving downtown.  When we walked in there were a few seats opened and not that busy, but after we ordered our first drink it was packed in the small area.

I am the type of person who doesn't want to make decisions on drinks so I asked the bartender to make something with a vodka base and he did.  It was pretty delicious.  My second drink I ordered that he made tasted like clean, springtime in my mouth.  It was light, refreshing and tasty.  Most of the items on the menu I had no idea what they were in the drink description and is super dark in the bar.  Although, I did like the atmosphere.

It reminds me of when Harry Potter got lost en route to Diagon Alley and he ended up in that dark bar and Hagrid had to come save him.  Unlike the movie the facility at Scott & Co is very clean and comfortable.  I loved the feeling.

One thing I did notice was there isn't a certain crowd.  There was a plethora of different types of people which made it a very interesting element.

I would have like the bartenders to be more friendly and talk more.  They seem to have  amazing skill sets when it comes to bar tending, but this is what made it just a three star visit.

I will most likely go back, but only because the ambiance and because it is so close to 47 Scott (which I LOVE!)
