Seven Star is your typical Americanized Chinese food.  There seems to be only two of these spots on Mercer Island.  The other one was not good at all, so I wasn't expecting much of this place.

I was pleasantly surprised.  It's not gourmet food by any means but it's decent.  The pan fried dumplings (guo tie) were standard and decent, but a bit expensive - 4 pieces for $6.25....

The hot and sour soup was not bad, tons of black pepper so the soup was really spicy!

The Szechuan garlic chicken was okay.  There was a lot of baby corn on the dish, which I liked.  The dish was not that spicy.

The entree prices here seem rather high though.  Most of the entrees I saw were at minimum $10, with a lot of dishes around $14.  This price seems really steep for Americanized Chinese food.

I think rice was extra though, which is stupid because rice is practically free in bulk...

The server was really nice and friendly.  He does speak Mandarin Chinese.

Need a quick lunch? Get in get out and get full with a good priced chinese lunch. Great lunch selection. Comes with soup and fried rice instead of white if you want. If you order to go you can't get soup. Never been here for dinner but it's definitely decent for lunch.

The service here was friendly, but unfortunately this was one place I should have read the reviews for before I dined. I was so happy to see Chinese on Mercer Island, I just stopped to check it out.

The wonton soup was a little lite and even soy sauce didn't wake it up. The Mongolian beef was a small portion camouflaged with a bed of onion.

Again the service was good, but it's obvious that they earned their rating.

I really don't understand why the reviews of this restaurant are so bad.  This is perfectly good take out chinese that we've had several times since moving to Mercer Island.  The hand shaken noodles and shrimp with lobster sauce are actually pretty good.  The free delivery works and is very convenient.

Yuck.  Was in a pinch and picked up a  wide a variety of items(noodles, rice, soup, appetizers) and they were all terrible. Mushy, tasteless and waste of $50.

My friend loves this place and made me drive all the way out here. She swears by the beijing dumplings. I think she considers herself somewhat of a potsticker connoisseur as she searchs out Chinese restaurants far and wide. These get her praise. I much enjoyed my green onion pancakes, they were so delicious, but just a small appetizer for about $3. Next time I think I'll get a double order. Plenty of parking, good service, water refilled regularly. I ordered a brocolli dish which was just so so, but probably my fault for ordering something boring. Plus I was happy to find they were in the entertainment book. My friend tells me this is the only good restaurant on the island, I hardly get out here, but I'll take her word for it.

I've eaten Seven Star twice now -- once via delivery, and once in the actual restaurant. I have decided there won't be a third time.

Nearly all of the options my wife and I have tried have been bland and without texture. The meat and vegetables have so little flavor you couldn't identify what they were if you were blindfolded before consuming them. They're steamed into mush. I'll admit that I found the General Tso's Chicken at least acceptable, but that has been the token exception.

While I haven't enjoyed the majority of the food, the prices seemed acceptable for the portions, their delivery speed beat their own estimated time, and the table service was prompt and polite. However, I think this restaurant needs to get its menu down before these factors can be fully appreciated.

Unless you have very low expectations in your takeout Chinese food, don't seek out Seven Star on Mercer Island. You'll be disappointed.

STOP !!! Do not eat here. The place is dirty. The food is salty, very little meat, lots of filler vegetables. The MSG is off the charts. Worst Chinese food ever ! Take out ended in the trash ! Is give it less than 1 star if I could.

Pretty decent chinese food. I usually order take out and they are fast.  The Seven Star atmosphere is that of an Italian restaurant and I always feel a bit out of place.

My husband, sister, friend and friend's small child ate here after a day of moving. We walked in, and didn't expect much, as the place was empty at dinner time, and  3 people were working. We ordered, got our food in a timely manner, and it was actually quite good. Sister got the vegetable mushu (good), husband got sweet and sour chicken,(good) my friend, and i got almond chicken. The almond chicken sauce was a little on the salty side, but they put it on the side which was nice. The portions were big, and the price was good.  The staff was friendly, and went out of their way to accommodate the baby in our group bringing a plastic bib and paper plate, so he could share with us. I think we will definatley be going back next time we want some quick chinese food.

No! No! No! Why can't we give zero stars?

We tried a take-out from Seven Star years ago and it smelled so much of rancid grease we couldn't eat it.

Tonight we thought we'd give them another chance:still greasy, but also so so *salty*.

We won't be giving them a third chance.

I came here randomly one night because I was in Mercer Island and wanted a quick dinner.  I was actually surprised that the food was pretty decent.  We got the hot and sour soup and their "home make noodle" which were both pretty good.

The only thing I didn't like was that they served the hot and sour soup warm and closer to room temperature instead of hot.  Their "home make noodle" was basically hand shaven noodles in a soup.  I thought it was really good.

I came back here again and got the "home make noodle" again and tried the chicken lo mein which was also good.  The service is good, both times I was there they were very attentive, but that may have been because we were the only ones there.  I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if I'm in the Mercer Island area, I would come here again.

    Delivery was on time.

    Price was decent.

    Food was extremely salty!

We had the Chicken with Curry Sauce and the Kung Pao Chicken Chinese Style. We ordered both spicy, but neither were.

I came here for dinner with my mother one night after hearing my friend rave about it.  She said that it's the best Chinese food she's ever tasted.

Excited to hear that, I was anticipating a nice meal.

    WRONG WAS I.

The food was mediocre as ever!

    Easily forgettable.

We ordered noodles, a stir fry, and fried rice.

I'd rather eat Panda Express any day!

I just keep getting disappointed by Chinese restaurants.  Not that there was much wrong with the food.  Some dishes were pretty good.  But... we were in a corner by the window and at one point I looked out the window and out of the corner of my eye noticed a disgusting amount of dirt/dust/dead bugs.

I looked more closely (which I regretted immediately) and saw that all along the window sills there were black/grey spots where dirt had attached itself onto splattered food or something.  The corner of the sill was absolutely littered with dead fleas and dirt.  The seats we were sitting on were quite dirty and perhaps had never been really cleaned.  Dried on bits of food everywhere.

Now, I'm aware that if I truly desired for a restaurant to be immaculate, I would probably have to spend quite a bit more for a meal.  But the thing is that I'm not asking for immaculate.  I'm asking for CLEAN.  At least not DISGUSTING!

Seeing how incredibly dirty it was out in the restaurant made me really wonder what it might look like in the kitchen.   Even if they keep the kitchen perfectly clean, the filth by/on our booth was absolutely unacceptable.   I doubt I'll eat there again.

    Clean it! IT IS GROSS!

This is the best chinese food I have had since moving to Washington!!  My fiance and I ordered the chicken chow mein, pork fried rice, mongolian beef, and sweet & sour pork.  It was all fabulous.  Nothing was overcooked or bland.  Everything was extremely tasty.  They also DELIVERED!  The food arrived quickly and it was still hot.  The delivery person was courteous.  Overall, a very very positive experience!  They have just earned themselves two loyal customers!

This is excellent Chinese cuisine. Actually, Shanghai Palace is probably too good for Mercer Island.

I don't know why they call this place Seven Stars for it is neither a seven star nor a five star or any star restaurant. Some co-workers dragged me here for a group luncheon and I was better off eating leaves off the ground. Our sodas were flat so they had to give us canned sodas. Which I don't mind but my taste buds prefer fountain drinks, just like they prefer fountain beer or what you call tap beer.

The food tasted like it was heated in a microwave. The rice was over cooked, the chicken wasn't tender, and the food was just plan horrible! My co-worker, who's asian, was quoted as saying "this wasn't even Chinese food!" I can't believe a joint like this exist on Mercer Island. They need to be evicted from the island.

    The tribe has spoken.
