Shot Heaven

This place is a bit nuts but I seem to be up for the challenge. The FIRST time I went in there I was already totally trashed and walking around the neighborhood in my pajamas so suffice it to say I can't judge others too harshly about being weird and tacky. In spite of my appearance and demeaner, they sweetly served me a $3 shot of Jack and didn't even look at me funny. The SECOND time I went in there the bartender immediately made a remark about the size of my hands...and I won't post exactly what she said but it was pretty innapropriate and  I laughed my ass off. Then time slipped away while I chatted with my new best friends around the bar. They have pool tables and leagues for anyone interested and their shots ARE cheap. The place is pretty dingey and I like it that way. I need to go back WAY more often. It is definitely appropriately named.

Shot Heaven can be classified as one of those bars that is a little bit above the insanity level. I have been here once, and the one time has left a very long, lasting impression.

This is a dive bar. Smoking is allowed and I gotta admit, this is one of Bevo Mill's less than classy establishments. However, that just adds to the character of the place.

All in a name -- Shot Heaven proudly has a book of shot combinations that your bartender will make for you once you've picked out your shot. The objective is, to open the book with your eyes closed, and pick out a shot that you point to. You then show the bartender which one you've picked, and she makes it for you. You do not know what you've picked out because you do not look at the book before giving it to her.

My decision to partake in this fine festivity turned out to be more than what my stomach bargained for. After 2 or 3 different combinations, well, let's just say it was about time for me to go home once out of the restroom....

One of the shots that I managed to pick out was called a Jose McGuinness. This was a a shot made with Jose Cuervo tequila and Guinness. Yeah, the shot book has some pretty devastating mixtures in there.

You do not have to play this when you come here. This is a normal drinking establishment with a full bar, darts, and karaoke which they have every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday night from 9pm-1am.

I'd recommend coming here as your final stop for the night. It is a 1:30am bar, and it is a fun way to conclude your evening out. Drinks run as little as $1.50 to $3.50 for well drinks.

It is an experience in itself and trust me when you say, I won't forget it.
