If your 21 and looking for trouble great place other then that be careful... staff not helpful bouncer put his hands on me and threatened mygirlfriend he told her he would break every bone in her face ( because she told him to keep off her ) he went by name  bert or berto scary stuff
Review Source:Smoke could be so much better. The place is super-chic with comfortable couches and little private rooms. We arrived early for our VIP table and ordered drinks and cigars. Music was pretty 90's but that's ok, as a member of class 1995.
The night went along fine until 1 AM came along. As if the ghetto dinner bell was rung, the place filled with ill dressed, no drink buying people. Most of them stood around (either not drinking or passing one drink around to each other). The started to help themselves to sitting in the VIP area, which we explained to them the area was reserved. Since ghetto people don't seem to understand you when you speak to them as human beings, we resorted to getting the bouncers, who we thought initially threw them out but found they just removed them to another room.
We received apologies from the wait staff and bouncers and in the end, it was so-so. Smoke could be really good, if it would realize that they don't need to cater to the rabble, as they don't spend money anyway.
OOOOO Boy!!! Â I used to go here all the time 2 summers ago and it was awesome!! Â Now not so much, first off the bartender I had was awful, there was 4 people including me in the whole place and I asked for a simple drink stoli rasp with soda water..and she gave me the wrong drink 2x!!! Â lol realllyyy??? Â talk about a person who is pouring money down the drain!! Â last experience was awful :(
Review Source:Although I haven't been here in a while, this used to be a spot I would frequent. Â I would definitely say it's one of the better bars in Providence. Â You get the "club" atmosphere without really being in a club, if that makes sense. I've always had a good time whenever I've gone here.
Review Source:The club scene in Providence can be a little sketchy. As a girl your always getting grabbed, groped, hit on... I can say I've never felt that way at Smoke.
Always a good time. This is my go to place for a night out with the girls. I like how its almost outside, but not. There are a lot of floors and hidden rooms. People are smoking butts, hookahs, cigars... but its not gross because your basically outdoors.
There is always a good mix of people and I've never seen anything crazy happen here (no fights or anything).
I would consider it a club more than a Cigar Lounge, but there are couches and lots of places to chill if your not trying to get buckkwilddd.
Check it out sometimes. Saturday nights I'm pretty sure ladies get in free!
I don't understand how this is called a "Cigar Lounge." They have a smaller cigar selection than most gas stations. Calling this place a cigar lounge is akin to calling McDonald's "fine dining." To make things worse, the service is terrible. I went with 4 friends; we sat at the bar and each ordered a simple drink (a glass of whiskey each). It honestly took the bartender about 10 minutes to pour 4 rocks glasses of whiskey. How this place is actually still in business is nothing less than an anomaly.
Review Source:I went to Smoke for the first time this past weekend. I am sure it is a pretty awesome set-up during the summer, but in late March, even with heat lamps, it was too chilly to spend much time outside scantily dressed! As noted, this is a smoking lounge, so don't wear anything you aren't planning on washing or bringing to the dry cleaners right away. I love hookah, but I am not a fan of cigarette or cigar smoke, and I think that is what mostly causes you to reek afterwards. That said, the hookah was good, as was the DJ. Drink prices were reasonable. I think they would benefit from having more convenient places to hookah. There were tons of tables available upstairs, but they were "Reserved," and there is no alternate universe in which I would pay $100 for one. You'd think that lots of drinks, a $10 cover, and a $30 hookah would suffice to get you a table, but apparently not. That was definitely my biggest gripe. It feels like hookah is an afterthought. The flavor was great however (Purple Haze) and it was definitely worth $30. I will probably come back, but I still prefer Byblos.
Review Source:I hate skeezy clubs. Smoke is amazing, filled with the baddest, most beautiful women you could ask for. Cheap enough drinks, beautiful decor and BANGING music. You've got half naked dancers, hookah, cigars, plenty of sitting room for the non dancers, plenty of dance room for those of you that like to get down.
The mix of people is perfect, vibe is always right. I've been there 10+ times and never seen anyone get into a fight the bouncers are efficient and remove obnoxious people in a timely fashion.
Definitely check it out if you are looking for an awesome lounge experience!
Sidenote: Best in summer when the whole place is open but still awesome during the winter!
Yesterday was the passing anniversary of a very close friend of mine & a close knit group of people we knew decided to celebrate his memory at this place because of family connections. I was beyond hesitant and swore that I would not go here 'cause certain situations may arise because of a previous incident (see above). The people I was with said nothing was going to happen and that any issues that happened before have been surely forgotten... I was there for about 2-3 hours and decided it was time to go. I went upstairs to get my card and notified our original bartender that a gentleman I was with was picking up the tab. As I was getting my card, one of the bartenders I had an "issue" with took it upon herself to question why I was there because of all the "shit" I wrote on the internet. Regardless of her dislike of my personal opinions, they are my opinions and I can choose to reenter any public place (which I have not been "banned" from) at any given time, whether you agree with them or not. She did not like my nonchalant responses & proceeded to  have me "kicked out" even though I was already leaving. I got word from the people I was with that the 2 bouncers and her apologized but this situation needs to be remedied. I will be talking to the owner to disclose my personal distaste about her inappropriate behavior & my overall treatment.
Review Source:The one and only time I have been to Smoke was a success. Â I went with a couple friends to grab a drink, have a bite to eat, and watch a Celtics game. Â Being a Wednesday night I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. Â The waiters, waitresses, and bartenders were all very helpful and talkative. Â The food was very cheap ($2 burgers, 50 cent wings) but was served a little cold. Â Beer was only $3, a bargain if your close to the city. Â There were several people smoking cigars but I did not leave smelling like smoke (always a good thing). Â We ended up smoking a hookah which was also reasonably priced ($21). Â
We are looking forward to going back when the weather warms up. Â We were confined to the upstairs but saw there was plenty of outside seating. Â With the low priced drinks and food, friendly service, and ample seating Smoke will a fun spot to visit this summer.
Having just turned 21 I am new to the lounge scene, but Smoke did an awesome job at successfully introducing me. Â The other night a few friends and I went here for a couple drinks and cigars and it turned into one of the best nights of the year. Â Everyone we met, staff and clients were amazing people all with the common goal of having fun. Â As the night progressed so did the capacity but it was never an issue to get a drink, a cigar, or a hookah. Â This is definitely "my spot".
Review Source:I wanna like Smoke. There are some great ideas, but none well executed.
I like the strip poles. I think they're great not only for the girl I saw who works there on it (she was so good she made me wanna take some stripaerobics!) but also because they're fun for some drunks! However, one was very poorly placed near a bathroom so whenever you're goofing off, you have to make sure no one is gonna get hit!
I like the koi ponds. But I don't like people smoking near them, dropping their ashes into the pond. Not cool.
Love the brick walls. Show them off! Don't cover them with ugly metal.
If it is a cigar bar, feature the humidifier! It's just a closet with a piece of paper that says what it is!
The bartender is just a fool. I don't know who was there the other night, but kaluha and tequila should NEVER BE MIXED. The only improvement here would be firing this one and hiring one who knew what they were doing. Â Also, the DJ sucked. Music=horrible. I think he just wanted the 90s to go on because that's the only music that came on.
Also, I don't think, at high class clubs at least, just guys should pay to get in and some drinks should be served in plastic and some in glasses. Glasses all the way and make everyone pay dammit! Equality!
All in all, I would love to see what this place could really look like. However, it's unlikely I'll come back anytime soon. I think this place could be great, has potential, but right now it's trying ot be something it's not. It's a 2.5 review.
Whatever folks, this place rocks for five reasons: smoking, couches, 50 cent wings, outdoor seating and a stripper pole (I mean, really, stripper poles are cool).
Wandered in here last night to escape the "front-end" of Federal Hill. Attempted Pastiche for half a second until we saw a line out the door and decided this cigar bar would be more fun.
Firstly, it was a Saturday night and it wasn't packed. Awesome. We were able to grab a corner on the outside couches and practically lay down the whole night. People kept coming by going "you're too comfortable! Way too comfortable!".
Yeah that's right, when I see a couch, I can really get into the lazy vibe real fast.
Second, this place is pretty big (two floors, multiple rooms), so if it does get packed in the Summer at some point, you'll probably be all set. Something tells me from the other reviews that this place can get rowdy, but it was pretty serene when we were there.
What's truly excellent about Smoke, other than the totally relaxed atmosphere (which I value in a cigar lounge) was totally cheap bill I got at the end of the night.
Food: 50 cent wings. $1 hotdogs. $2 burgers. $3 beers. I believe shots were $4. In other words, you could have a pretty good night on the cheap here. And the food was actually good, which is always nice.
If I had any complaints, it'd be that since we were downstairs, outside, it took at least a half hour for the waitress to get to us. But she was the only person serving tables in the whole place, AND we were totally hidden from the upstairs (and the only people downstairs, outside). So we just went up and let her know we were there, and got some menus. If you're waiting too long, just go to the bar and let 'em know you're there. It's not really a complaint though, we weren't in a rush.
The other patrons at the bar were all very chill, friendly and fun (in other words, no d-bags or hookers in training), so it was an all-around good time.
Not sure I'd love this place if it was packed, but so far so good. Also, not too bad for non-smokers since there's tons of outdoor seating, so less smokey smell to wash out of your clothes.
POOR! used to come here all the time because of convenience. went here for a private party recently; with all the "other things" that were going on, we got kicked out for the silliest of reasons. i had to go to the bathroom really bad, waited for a few minutes at the front bathroom, it was obviously someone was throwing up there so i decided to go to the bathroom within the room we were in; my fiancee went in with me because he also had to go really bad. NOTHING HAPPENED. i went about my business and someone was knocking incessently( it was a bouncer). i opened the door while fiancee was in mid-peeing and the bouncer says we have to speak to his manager. OK. we came out and was instead lead to "head of security". he tells us it's "against policy" to go into a bathroom with the opposite sex. understandable except we did not expect to be kicked out! of all the things that was happening in that bathroom, my fiance and i (who havent been "out" in about 3 months) got kicked out for the silliest of reasons. it was apparent they were just looking to kick people out, i can say i will never ever go back there. the manager should have spoken to us and to all the people i've recommended this lounge to in the past, i'm making sure they will never go there again. thanks for the shitty and [prejudiced] business!
Review Source:I have to preface this with the fact that I'm not a smoker. Â The first time I went here, it was for a birthday party and I was afraid of the smokiness of it (from the cigars and cigarettes); however, I was plesantly surpised that I was able to hang out, drink, and dance, and not feel like I was leaving here covered with smoke. Â Now I do have to say that the first time I went there, the outside was open to the inside because the weather was nice.
The second time I went, the outside was curtained off and so I got a sense of the smokiness factor inside. Â Not as huge a fan after this time.
I do have to say that the stripper pole outside the bathroom is hilarious. Â It makes for a fun wait for the bathroom.
Heads up for the guys that all of the bathrooms are coed; thus, there is a fair line at each one, especially as the night goes on.
I think I'll leave this place be until I the weather becomes nice again, so I can hang out and dance in the outside patios.
Smoke is right off of Atwells Street on Federal Hill in Providence. It's a cigar bar, so be prepared to smell like an ashtray when you get out of there. Â If that doesn't bother you, though, it's a great bar to chat someone up in. the people were very friendly if you know what I mean. Â
I loved, loved, loved the DJ, which is why I would totally go back there.
there's also a stripper pool on the first floor which isn't to be missed.
It was also reassuring to see a good number of huge bouncers/security types on staff b/c a fight did break out while we were there but it was quickly contained and didn't ruin the night for anyone. Â
The down side? Well, the place smelled strongly of puke by the end of the night and there were lots of spilled drinks and glasses lying around everywhere. not  a place to wear your jimmy choos or carry your best bag, you know? Â
But we really had fun dancing it up and the waitresses, bouncers, and bartenders were really nice.
