Perfect spot for dates or a night out with friends--solid ambiance, delicious food, friendly service and a well-rounded drink selection. We dined with another couple on a Friday night. We shared an appetizer, salads, pizzas and dessert. The salads were a highlight--go for the beet! For pizzas, we tried the bufalina, margherita and prociutto. Mixed reviews from the group. I loved it but others thought the crust was pretty droopy. Our server talked us into splitting the chocolate cake with salted caramel gelato, and it was amazing. I normally think restaurant desserts aren't worth the calories but this one was. They used to have Sofie on tap but it switched to Matilda mid-meal. I prefer the Sofie, but either is great.

    We will definitely be back!

Love this place! Food is awesome, atmosphere is chill and easy. Would give it 4 or 5 stars, but this place needs to hire more waitstaff! We came on a Sunday night - it was very crowded - and there were two servers for the whole place. Ridiculous! There's only so much they can do to keep up. Super friendly, but super slow service!

I've went through a lot of reviews looking to see if ya'll experienced what we just experienced. And it sounds like u haven't....yet ! so read below and take my advice.... :) The food is great here-- but the hidden gem is the dessert.  For once my hubby and I didn't over stuff ourselves and left room to enjoy dessert. And I am so glad we did!

We ordered the chocolate salted Carmel truffle cake-- it may have been the best dessert I've ever eaten. At least in the top 5. Warm lava cake with Caramel syrup and gelato... It had  just the right compliment of flavors . He was tempted to order another after we gobbled it down so quickly!!  Looking back now, I wish we had!

We also had the mushroom and ciappoli bruchetta, margarita pizza, and their take on a Cesar salad-- all yummy, all small plates, but the dessert is the shining star--- it is just mmmm mmmm good!

Simply the best pizza on the planet! Interesting combinations. Fantastic crust. Fresh ingredients. The 1,000 degree wood fired oven makes all the different. Super friendly staff. Very cool place. Worth a special trip!

My husband and I live in the area and Sono has become our go-to when we don't want to cook dinner. We dine in - and order take out quite often and are pleased every single time. The pizza is delicious - we have tried pretty much every single one on the menu and the Salsicia is our favorite (white or red!). The bruschette is amazing - I recommend the fig, as is mozzarella antipasti. Great for a girls night too -- I have come here many times with girlfriends! Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. Can't recommend enough!

Sono Wood Fired hit all the right notes for me, until the bill came. I wasn't surprised by what the meal cost, but $60 seemed high for a couple of appetizers and a pizza. Nevertheless, I did thoroughly enjoy my time here.

We dined on a Thursday night before a Steppenwolf show, so we arrived early and the dining room was empty. This is rarely a good sign, but it did fill up by the time we left.

I loved the space -- the pizza oven is viewable in the back of the restaurant, but it doesn't feel gimmicky. The dark interior instead seemed classy and upscale for what is basically a pizza place.

My date and I split the calamari appetizer, which was good, but nothing spectacular. I maintain that Deleece has the best calamari in Chicago, but this was well-prepared.

We decided to try their signature bruschettas, and so we each had a cipollini onion jam with humbolt fog and lavender honey. They were delicious. The humbolt fog (which was something like aged goat cheese) was sharp but did not overpower the sweet caramelized onions. If I return to Sono Wood Fired, I would probably order their bruschette flight, which allows you to sample five for $15.

For an entree, we split a lamb sausage bianche pizza. This was a Neapolitan thin crust, and at 14 inches, it was just the right amount for the two of us. The edge of the crust was a little too crisp and brown for my taste, but the rest of the pizza was wonderful.

Since Thursdays are wine flight night, I also sampled three white wines for $10. Ordinarily, this is $15. The glasses were pretty generous considering that they were merely flights.

Our server was extremely friendly and helpful. She offered a lot of suggestions and thoroughly described the dishes so that it was easy to choose what we wanted.

Overall, my impression of Sono Wood Fired was that it was a nice atmosphere, good food, and solid service. I wish it were slightly less expensive, but it would certainly be possible to dine here for half of what we paid.

My favorite place for pizza. The crust is a cracker like crisp. The toppings are perfectly proportioned with a nice variety with unique ones like sopressata. The bruschetta isn't soggy or over loaded. And the ambience is cozy and warm.

My experience here was very "meh".  It wasn't terrible, but it was far from appealing.  It was the kind of place where I wasn't repelled...but I wouldn't choose to go back.  Here's why:

We arrived at 8:30 on a Friday night.  The place was surprisingly mellow, with about 8 other tables and no one really at the bar.  We were seated right away and given menus and water.  Then we waited....and waited.  Finally, our server came over, looking a little harried.  "Sorry for all the chaos!" is how she greeted us before taking our drink order.  Hm...we didn't notice any chaos and in fact, we were enjoying ourselves...it was obvious that SHE was frazzled, but she shouldn't have shared that with us.

Anyway, we ordered the calamari to start.  SO BORING.  BEYOND BORING.  It came with a citrus aioli and a truffle aioli.  The calamari had basically no flavor aside from the breading.  I had to ask the bar for some lemons to squeeze over everything (our waitress was MIA).   The aiolis weren't flavorful in the least.  The only good part about the calamari were the rings of banana peppers that were fried and served along with it...They actually tasted like something, but then....they also made it appear like you were getting more calamari that was actually on your plate.  We didn't finish it because it wasn't worth finishing.

The pizzas were reasonably priced at $14-ish each.  Having moved from LA and being a fancy-pizza expert (ha ha) I assumed that the pizzas were probably personal-sized, based on the price.  It made sense to us to order 2 pizzas, one for myself and one for my husband.  We ordered and the waitress never said anything to imply that what we'd ordered was far too much....

...But when our pizzas (FINALLY) came out, one was easily enough for both of us!  I felt so silly, with a full-sized, 8-slice pizza sitting in front of each of us.  It would have been nice if the waitress had mentioned how big the pizzas were...

The pizzas were.....just so-so.  The crust was nice around the edges, but limp in the center.  The red sauce was incredibly boring and sweet.  There was minimal flavor and barely any sage, which was what my Wild Mushroom pizza touted.  I had to ask for salt & pepper, and then I squeezed lemon on the pizza, which gave it some much-needed acid.

Also, no one ever offered to refill our drinks.  That was annoying.

Second time I was at Sono and both times are solid.  No in fact, I was surprised by how much I liked it!  First of all the service is super friendly and helpful.  That makes a huge difference esp if you're eating here before a show.
But really the bruschetta and pizzas are good but like better than I thought they were going to be.  I don't know why I thought they were going to be just ok!
The combinations are interesting and the ingredients are fresh.  I would definitely come back for a pre or post show dinner or drink.
The only think I can't comment on is the dessert but that's b/c both times I was too full from pizza.
Also they carry Halsted vodka which gives back 15% to the local GLBT community.  A plus!!

    Fab. U. Lous.

My cousin gave me the heads up that Sono Wood Fired holds cooking/cocktailing classes every Monday, so I jumped at the chance to get my pizza and drink on.  For only $40 (add tax and tip), we arrived to some champagne and a ridiculous spread of salad, bruschetta and other goodies, which we were later allowed to take home - score!

We were led by Mark (badass host) and divided into two groups, one to mix drinks and one to rock pizza.  I was in the pizza first group, and noticing my glass was dry, was offered a glass of wine, with numerous refills after that - score #2!  The cooking class was great.  Chef John gave us detailed instructions and tips on what makes his pizza so special, including info on where to get all his fresh ingredients.  You could tell he truly enjoys what he does, and was an open book during question time.  We were able to make whatever we wanted, and were given free reign when it came to toppings (score #3!), and trust me, there was quite the selection.

Next came the cocktail how-to.  We made two drinks, and started off with written instructions and premeasured alcohol.  My friends and I were able to play around with the syrups to customize our drinks.  Basically, the drinks were panty droppers, so I was happy - score #4!  So...now I am by no means a pizza making or drink mixing genius, but I'm on my way, and I have damn good idea of the perfect place to hold my next cooking party.  And that makes score #5!

Bruschetta sampler platter was the best I've ever had. Sooooo much flavor-- could have passed for fine dining quality. Will definitely be getting the Funghi and Fig next time I go. Pizza is good too, thin crust. Nothing too special here. Went here on a Thursday, wine flight on special. Good deal. Going back next weekend with the bfs parents!

The bruschetta (brew-sketta, please let's get that right) is filling and very good and could be a meal in itself.  I tried the squash, which was a little heavy on the ricotta, and the fungi.

I tried the Bufalina pizza and it needs work.  I know they're going for a Neapolitan style, which is ballsy and probably welcome in a city known for it's own style of pizza, but the dough and technique could be much improved.  Here's a suggestion: use high gluten (Manitoba) flour for a chewy, bread-like texture.  The pizza I had was more crunchy, cracker like, which tells me they use too much oil.  Also, maybe fresh yeast instead of dry, instant or pizza yeast would bring the dough to life and get a golden brown color rather than off-white.

Also, there was way too much sauce in pools all over the pizza.  If the oven's hot enough and dough correct, the sauce should be very little, if not a tad dry in places.  This sauce, which tastes pretty good and probably is San Marzano, almost seemed like it was added out of the oven rather than baked IN the oven.

I came here on a Friday night before a 7:30 show at the Steppenwolf.  I made a reservation for 6pm because I wasn't sure how crowded this place gets but it wasn't that busy when we were there but was definitely picking up by the time we left around 7:15.

We had a great server who did a great job explaining the menu, there were a lot of ingredients listed that I had never heard of so it was much appreciated as were her recommendations.  We had the La Famiglia which was a  trio of salads which were all delicious and shared a Bufala pizza which was to die for and I was a little sad when it was all gone, I could have gone for 2 more slices.  It's a super thin crust so it's not that filling which was a good thing because I didn't leave feeling overstuffed and sleepy for our play.

I loved everything we tried so i can't wait to return and try some different things on the menu and our service was fab!

Love this place for their Tuesday buy one get one free pizza night.   I've had a number of their different pizzas.  Most recently my sister and I shared the zucchini gialle (butternut squash, radicchio, sage, provolone, fior di latte) and the salsiccia (sausage, roasted peppers, fiore di latte & basil).  Both were delicious and I feel the salsiccia was even better than the last time I had it.  The pizzas are a good size that I figured there would be leftovers since it was just the 2 of us, but we finished off both pizzas-even the group at the neighboring table was commenting.

The wait staff is super sweet and helpful.  The service is quick.  Wine is reasonable.

i'm tempted to write a not-so-good review just so i can keep this a little secret. i absolutely love this place. the pizza is incredible, the wait staff is awesome. but the best part? that almost every day you can get some deal. don't get me wrong - the place isn't cheap, nor is it very expensive, but getting wine for half price on sundays, or getting a free pizza on tuesdays... how can you beat that?!

    big time recommend.

So, after 15+ years of living in the food desert - warehouse land between North Avenue and Division and Halsted and the river, always hoping for a local place we could call our own ... you know, the place you can walk to, where they know you, where the food is good, consistent and the check kind to your wallet, we think we've found our place. I know, SONO probably wants to be a bit more than that, but for us, their always perfectly prepared pizzas (by one get one free on Tuesdays), their fine wine selection, and their always friendly servers make this our go to place at the end of a long workday (especially important when you are a workaholic couple and your office is just down the hall from your bedroom ... getting out of the live/work space is often difficult, but the thought of their soppressata diavola, pizza bianca and their garlicy mussels  makes putting on our shoes and coat and heading down the street easy.  We especially like their Wednesday night 3 course meal (bruchetta, pizza, gelato = $16, great when you can't decide .... oh, it's Wednesday today, isn't it?

Sono is a pretty trendy place. You walk through a curtain to get to the main room, which is kind of odd, but the place is pretty small, quaint, and has a full bar. The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy and pretty inviting.

Oh, right, they had pizza, too! But first, on Wednesdays they have $5 appetizers (antipasti) and have other great specials on other weekdays. I tried the crispy artichokes and eggplant. Both were quite tasty. The aioli that accompanied the artichokes made that dish; the eggplant was all good. I would definitely like to try the other antipasti, too.

As for the pizza, I got the spinach, which apparently was our (very cute) waitress's favorite. I know why. The crush is crispy and thin (which, like my review of Bricks notes, I welcome in the deep-dish mecca of Chicago); the toppings were vibrant and plentiful; and the pizza was cooked and prepared expertly. Lots of garlic flavor on this one--I was tasting it an hour after dinner--and the cheeses were tangy and great.

Didn't try dessert, but the beer/wine selection was varied and decently priced. The overall experience was very pleasant, the total bill was very reasonably, and my stomach and pallet were quite satisfied. I'll happily return to explore more of Sono's menu. Good eatin'.

Stumbled upon this place while looking for a dessert place after dinner. We were presently surprised upon entering, it was dimly lit, cozy, and had a bit of a Brooklyn vibe to it. We sat at the bar and had wine and what was one of the most incredible desserts I've ever had---warm chocolate cake with black dog salted caramel gelato. To die for!

The food looks amazing, we will be back soon to try it.

I have been on a quest for the best thin crust pizza in the city and this place is near the top of my list! (I am a pizza whore) We stopped in on a Wednesday evening and did the Prix Fixe they had. Bruchetta, Pizza, Gelato for $16! A pizza is usually at least $16. So it was a deal. Our server was really great. She explained the menu so well and would bring over food for us to take a peek before we ordered!

We had the mushroom and the tomato bruchetta, the mushroom pizza and the buffalo mozz one too. We both chose the salted caramel gelato for dessert, I mean, how do you pass that up?! Everything was awesome. I really liked the mushroom bruchetta. The pizza is super duper thin! My fav! I'd love to go back, it was a great deal, great service and great food.

Went here 2 weekends ago on a Saturday night.  There was a rehearsal dinner going on while we were eating so it was packed!  We sat at the bar and got the Rigatoni and Salsiccia pizza.  The crust was great on the pizza, toppings were delicious, my only complaint is I wish the cheese had been done more.  I prefer more carmelized cheese on pizza.  Can't win them all.  Would recommend though, it's got an inviting atmosphere, the bar tender served us and was on top of things.  Oh, and the Rigatoni was awesome!  It had sausage and spinach in it, and the broth that was in there was really nice.  Give it a try, I don't think you'll regret it.

Fantastic!  My sister recommended we go to Sono for a girls dinner this past Saturday.  The Brushette and Beet Salad were outstanding but the pizza I wasn't able to give a fair review.  We ordered the Summer Harvest Pizza but due to food allergies I had to ask for no corn.  We probably should have chosen a different pizza since the no corn changed the whole taste.  Round 2 was last night.  They have a great Wednesday special, $16 per person:
    -1 brushette each
    -1 pizza each
    -1 scoop gelato each
We went for it and everything was top notch.  We ordered the Spinaci and Prosciutto pizzas.  The ingredients were all very fresh and cooked to perfection.  Oh and the toasted garlic on the spinaci.....delicious.  We will definitely be back.

Let's not forget the wine list.  Very reasonable and great wine selections.

This was my monthly dinner club's August selection.  It was a solid dinner in a nice-looking space for a ridiculously cheap price because it was Tuesday (BOGO pizzas!).  Yay! I am, in fact, a fan.

The host was pleasant and our server tried very hard to be "cool-friendly", as female servers are prone to due with large groups of girls.  They had Two Brothers beer on tap, which always makes me happy.  Each person in our 10-person group ordered their own pizza and then bartered to try other types.  The pizzas came out super-fast despite the busy dinner crowd.  I loved my spinach goat cheese pizza and was glad I asked for artichokes.  They didn't charge for adding an extra ingredient, which was nice.  I also tried the prosciutto white pizza (satisfyingly salty) and the red buffala pizza (good, can't remember the name - sorry!).  Everyone raved about one girl's fungi pizza.  I don't do mushrooms so I can't speak to that.

It didn't blow my mind in a 5-star-I-must-hurry-back kind of way but I recommend it for groups looking for a great value and yummy, wood-fired pizza.

This pizza place is not a pizzeria.  It is a cute, trendy bistro-like place that offers delicious food, great wine and spectacular ambiance.  I had the opportunity to go to a party here that was hosted by the owner so I got to try a lot of the menu offerings.  The first thing I noticed upon arriving is that they had an extensive wine list with a lot of unique wines.  They also have a pretty good beer selection as well.

When you think about the food the offer it sounds pretty simple - bruschetta, salads, pasta and pizza.  What makes this place unique is the ingredients that they use in these items.  They use exceptionally fresh and delicious ingredients that are unique and make you realize that you are eating something completely different than you have ever had before.  Everything we had was good, but some of my favorites were the roasted red pepper bruschetta, the spinach and arugula salad, and all of the pizzas which change from time to time.

Everyone was very friendly and happy to bring you more of whatever you wanted and the food was delicious.  Another plus in this neighborhood is that they have inexpensive valet parking.

Just found my pre-Steppenwolf dinner star.

Excellent appetizers (fried artichoke? well...okay!). Stand-out pizza --thin crust, crisp outside, then nice and chewy.

WINEWINEWINE. We had a great bottle of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

Super-nice service, as well. Accommodating, patient, kind, and knowledgeable.

So sad we missed dessert... though our server offered to keep our tab up so we could come back later. Wish we could have!

Oh, and don't get just one bruschetta. It's literally one serving, so get a few and share.

I think I'm in love with this restaurant....

We visited a few Sundays ago for dinner on a whim...we had wanted to try the spot, but hadn't ever visited.  Turns out Sundays (along with most of the week) are days with 'deals'...appetizer and wine specials.  Yum.  We had a pizza and some procuitto and I was in heaven.  I meant to review the spot afterwards, but apparently totally forgot...

So, on to a week or so later....another Sunday visit and another pizza, calamari and a few pieces of bruscette..yum yum yum.  Again, forgot to review this adorable place.

Fast forward another week...visited for dinner again and had a lovely time.

I have to give a shout-out to our wonderful server who has not only been with us every week, but has also been super nice, given us the wonderful sparkling wine we like and even some ice cream tastes.  She is super!!!

So, service as you probably have guessed...is a 5.

Food is wonderful - a definite 5.  The pizzas are wonderfully thing, perfectly cooked and seasoned well.  The proscuitto platter is heavenly - lots of meat, all nicely presented.  The calamari is nice, with some hidden banana peppers that make things a bit 'zippy'.  Basically I've been thrilled with everything.  An all around 5.

Value is great. Not only do they have daily specials, but the prices are reasonable anyway.  The $5 Sunday appetizers are really a no-brainer, but everything is priced well and the deals are not skimped on (so, the $5 mussels...massively portioned!).
    Value is a 5.

Bathrooms are clean and pleasant - a 5.

Atmosphere is very nice.  It's not too loud and there's the wood burning oven for atmosphere.  The windows occasionally make it hard to see at dust, but overall very cute with dark wood, brick and nice lighting.  A 5.

So, as I've been back three times in recent memory, I think it's safe to say that I'll be back.  Thanks Sono!

Was impressed by their selection of pizzas and salads. Started off with a large plate featuring three salads - pea shoots, caprese, & roasted beets - all three of them were good. The dressing might have been a bit over done on the beet salad, but it's a minor thing.

The pizzas are good for two people and it seemed like they were thoughtfully prepared.

Sundays are half price wine nights...I didn't take advantage of this, but there were many other people around us that did.

Thanks yelpers. I was in the neighborhood checking out the Whole Foods (which was impressive).
Sat at the bar for a quick bite. They had a special with bruschetta, a pizza and gelato for $16. A lot of food but I figured I would taste it all!
Many bruschetta choices. I opted for the fig and goat cheese. It was a small slice of bread perfectly oven toasted and tasty.
I then had the pizza with eggplant and other vegetable. Checked out the wood burning oven! The pizza cooked in under 2 minutes! Crust and pizza dough composition was excellent, along with the flavor. Wish I opted for a plain tomato and cheese. That's really how you judge a good naples style pie. The vegetables were fresh but the pizza lacked flavor. Could have used some salt.  No complaints, though. MUCH better than I can get in Dallas.
The gelato was killer. I had salted caramel. They get it from Black Dog Gelato. They have a single location in Chicago that I will surely check out during my next visit. This was the best gelato I have tasted outside of Italy. Rich, creamy decadent delight.

Sono has a special each night of the week. I especially enjoy their buy one get one free pizza night on tuesdays. They aslo have great cocktails. Their service is usually pretty good. There was one night they were pretty busy and I waited over 15 minutes for my cocktail, the manager was extremely apologetic. So much so, she gave me a second on the house, which I thought was very nice and absolutely made up for my impatient wait.

Overall, I would recommend anyone who savors over over brick pizza.

I have been to Sono probably 5 times and have had a good experience each time.  I think I have sat at the pizza bar for 4 of those times and have enjoyed watching the food being made and the fresh ingredients that go into it.

My Mom and I had the pleasure of having a lengthy discussion with the owner last time in and he was very personable and engaging.  My husband and I were just there a few nights back and the salsiccia pizza was dynamite as was the burrata (a special).  Granted its in walking distance from our house, so thats a plus....beyond that its tasty, economical and bustling...but you can almost always get a spot to sit and enjoy!

Chose this place for my mom's birthday dinner. The staff was incredibly nice and welcoming and the food was delicious
I wasn't able to stay for the pizza but the bruschetta that I tasted was great. The BLT was surprisingly very good..arugula can really make a dish, I guess but the cippolini and the mushroom were the best. To die for.
The caprese salad was really great; wish I could have tried all of them! Will definitely be back to try more!

No half stars, but this would be more like 3.5

We arrived around 10 pm on a Friday night and the place looked really dead, even though they dont close until 11:30. Before even greeting or seating us, the hostess promptly told us that they were "shutting down" for the night. Okay, sorry, we thought you were open another hour and a half.

However, our server (I believe her name was Kelsey) was so welcoming and nice, she eased us from feeling rushed.

We shared the calamari for appetizer, which was good but not the best Ive had. It was a little small for the price. But the sauces they serve with it were so yummy! For dinner we shared the spinach/goat/ricotta pizza. It was good, but my date should have ordered his own because he was still hungry after sharing the thin crust. I loved the wood fired pizza and the crust was sooo good. I didnt taste much goat cheese, which was my favorite part in ordering it this particular one.

Ambience was good. We will probably be back to try more items, and when its not so late in the evening.

Yum!  The bruchetta is a must!  With so many great options, it was hard to chose which ones to try so we opted for the flight.  They were even gracious enough to cut them in half for us.  The wild mushroom was my favorite but they were all delicious.

The environment is very cozy and the service was great.  The wine was overpriced so be careful what you order in terms of drinks.  After the bruchetta, we weren't all that hungry but we still opted to try the pizza which was also very tasty.

I will definitely come back for more!

After my first visit, a last-minute after work dinner with a girlfriend, I was more than enthused with this new wine bar. Scanning through some of the other reviews, I noticed the primary complaint seems to be the service. For us, the service was so wonderful, it actually made me bring my boyfriend and three of our friends back for New Years Eve dinner before heading out. Lori, my waitress the first visit, is friendly and attentive, and every bit the food enthusiast one could hope for. I am lactose intolerant (so Italian, let alone pizza, is never an easy option for me!) and she truly catered to my needs without making me feel like a burden. Try the Pappardelle, a lamb & wild mushroom ragout. THAT is my idea of comfort food... and I bet it would have been even better had I let them put cheese in it. Ha.

Our second visit was as much of a success as the first. While Lori was not our server, she remembered me and was as friendly as I remembered. Our waiter had AMAZING wine suggestions, one of which I had to have him write down so I could buy it for home!

Love this place. Cannot recommend it enough. And hopefully, as their business grows, the service will become more consistently on par with what I know they are capable.

    LOVIN IT!

I came here on the recommendation of a fellow Yelper (Thanks Mandy!)

It was a cold and drizzly night in the big city but a bright inviting sign called to me...it said simply Sono.  In the shadows across from the big bright Apple store sits a simple wood fire pizza place that will now become my home away from home.

I arrived just after opening to a very pleasant hostess who showed me to a table.  Now, I was a bit leery as I was one of two people in the place.  But, they did just open when I arrived and by the time I was finished, it was waiting room only.

After first checking into Yelp, I perused the simple menu and went with the Mussels al forno.  Dare I say freaking awesome!  I could swim in that broth!!!  It was a chorizo broth that gave a little bite and I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that I would dabble that on the back of my hand to smell all day!

I also got a free bruschette for checking in on Foursquare so I had the Roasted Pepper and Goat Cheese bundle of love!

Like that wasn't enough!  I opted for two pizzas, the traditional Margherita and the Pancetta.  The Margherita was as I expected - PERFECT!  I love that burnt crust!  The Pancetta was chock full of spicy arugula and oven dried tomatoes!

I left full of happiness and boxed up what I didn't engulf...

Sono - you make me happy and I will pay you another visit next weekend!

Went to Sono for my birthday celebration and then less than 2 weeks later for a Cheeky event. The pizza is really good, and the ambiance is great for, say, a casual date or group outing. They have specials on most weekdays as well which is really cool.

We started off with the bruschette flight which included the:

cipollini (onion jam, humboldt fog & lavender honey)

wild mushroom (wood-roasted mushrooms, taleggio & white truffle oil), blt (crisp copa, arugula, tomatoes, lemon aioli)

butternut squash (mascarpone goat cheese, crispy sage)

prosciutto (parmigiano frico, fiore di latte & toscana olive oil). Yum!

Everything was good, although each bruschette is like, 2 bites, so keep that in mind.

We also tried the burrata cheese which is delicious but didn't come with enough bread. luckily, we decided to save our pizza crusts to eat with it which i think is a marvelous idea =]

The mussels were also quite tasty.

As for the pizzas, we ordered:

soppressata diavola (spicy soppressata, fiore di latte, charred onions & basil) - one of my favorites of the night

funghi (wild mushrooms, fontina, crispy sage & white truffle oil) - a little bland (not enough salt, too much truffle oil)

gamberi (garlic shrimp, ricotta, pesto, oven-dried tomatoes & parmigiano reggiano) - also very tasty and flavorful

We also had a pizza with clams on it, which i think was their special for the evening. it was really flavorful and came nicely presented with the clams in their shells on top of the pizza.

Lastly, for dessert, we tried the goat cheese gelato and the fried dough balls with nutella (i forget what they were called). the gelato was excellent and the balls were ok.

All in all, i had a great time and would definitely recommend Sono Wood Fired. yum!

P.S. I mentioned this already, but you should have a date here! =]

    Couldn't get any better.

I went here with my siblings as they were visiting me and wanted to find a place to eat as we were leaving north ave beach. irrelevant, but i digress..

i yelped this place up, yeah i did. and my gps system is completely shiatz (google maps suckassery) cause it took us like 30min to find it when it was like a block away from us the entire time. besides the point again...

we came in and were quickly seated, it was fairly crowded but in a pleasant way. our server, she was the tits. she was not at all ever intrusive -- she made conversation with us and helped us pick some things from the menu. we all checked in on foursquare and each got a free bruschette ! (pronounced broo-sketta you guys. it has been confirmed) we got the prosciutto, olivetta, and blt bruschette, AMAZING.

then, we got the apple fennel salads + two pizzas, the gamberi and verdure. this meal was perfect for 3 people. everything was so fresh, so simple and soooooooo good. the pizza was thin, wood fired - the ingredients so simple + fresh it tasted amazing. i almost can't describe it. best pizza i've had in chicago so far. screw your deep dish, chicago. one thing i would've liked is that if the pizza was more carefully watched, one of them was a bit burnt. bitter.

i bet anything on this menu is super good. oh soo good. i will be back on a wednesday for their prix fixe menu, $30 for 2 pizza, 2 bruschette + 1 gelato. perfecttttt!

Very, very good pizza. I'm really glad I finally got to try this place.

I tried the bruschetta pick 5 and all are delicious. Really, just pick any 5 and you won't be disappointed. The pizza is really good. If you like thin, crispy pizza then you'll definitely love this place.

Make sure you leave enough room for dessert, because the gelato is awesome.

The service was also really wonderful. The waitress was super friendly and attentive from start to finish. I will definitely be back.

P.S. Mondays are 1/2 price bottles of wine
