Good food
I live right down the street from Marcello's and have always been meaning to check it out. Came in for lunch the other day and it was pretty slow. You get complimentary garlic chip strip things with butter. We had one and passed on the rest. I got the broiled chicken with the grilled veggies as a side. The broiled chicken was delicious. You get your choice of fried or grilled and you get to pick you seasoning, I chose garlic and boy was it garlicy! Yum. The skin was so crispy and the white meat was so tender. The grilled veggies were a little oily but they were good. My boyfriend ordered the thai flatbread. The server warned us that the flatbread would be reaaalllly peanutty and he was right. It was good, regardless. We'll defintiely be back.

I have lived on the north side of Chicago for years and this is by far my favorite place to splurge on pizza. The thin crust is amazing and I absolutely love their garlic breadsticks.

I have been to many excellent restaurants throughout the world with my wife of 30 years.  When on business travel to Chicago, Marjie always schedules a reservation going to Marcello's (North Avenue) with local friends, 8-10 times in each of the last 10-15 years.  Most of those times I am home watching our dog here in Connecticut, but after she gets back to her hotel, we always speak on the phone about how our days went.  Time after time, year after year, she has made a point to tell me how much she enjoyed going to Marcello's on North Avenue. She delights going over the details of  their dinner--the superb personal, friendly service, and food quality that "makes her night" after working all day.

She describes how her group is always greeted by a happy and friendly staff, and in recent years by a waiter named Zenel (? sp).  Apparently, he learned years ago that she loves a good sized Martini, and started taking the extra time to stuff olives by hand with blue cheese which he delivers to her almost before they get seated. She most recently LOVED telling me how delicious the "broasted' 4 piece dark meat chicken and grilled asparagus tasted; how her white wine is delivered promptly with the meal; how her group is treated like honored VIP celebrities....only they are just ordinary, everyday people.

I now feel compelled to take the time to look up this magical restaurant that has taken such great care of my wife and her friends so many times, for so many years and post this review to show my appreciation.  I figured if a restaurant is so consistently outstanding that a husband wants to take my time to look them up and post this "review," then other people should know about it, and also be able to enjoy their great services.  Thank you to all the staff of Marcello's for taking care of my wife who is certainly a "celebrity VIP" to me.
