Kelly and Kitty are great bartenders. The nightly regulars at this dive bar are very nice. The ambiance is great, just the way I like it, very divey. The food is good and drinks are great  they sponsor local youth sports teams and love the community. The story of the bar can be told by the pictures on the wall and everyone you ask will tell you the history of the bar.

This is my neighborhood "dive" bar that really rises above the interpretation of "dive" with very good, moderately priced fare, a great waitstaff and decent juke box selections. The wings are some of the best in Denver and they have a nightly steak special that's a great alternative to cooking at home. As a single woman, I've never felt uncomfortable having a beer (or glass of wine) at the bar and enjoying a solo dinner. I had passed by this place for years before finally braving a visit and was pleasantly surprised to find a Johnson & Wales chef actually working the kitchen. While the food may not be quite as top-of-the-line as it was back in those days, it's still a damn better alternative to a restaurant chain.

This is one of the great dive bars in Denver. From what I understand this place once served the Air Force's finest. The pictures on the wall show old Denver.

Unlike most Dive Bars, I love bringing my kids there for Dinner. They have a good and cheap kids menu and the Dads can have a cold beer and watch whatever game is on TV.

Neighborhood dive bar. The waitresses are super friendly. Cheap and good eats. Great burgers (non-gourmet!) and fries. I think this place is a bit of a secret and I like it that way!

    The Bartender calls me honey.
There's a half eaten, unattended, smothered burrito down the bar a few stools.
The jukebox softly plays Eric Clapton.
The lighting is brighter than you'd expect but focused in a way to be oddly open and concealing at the same time.
    The drinks are made properly.
The building smells old, pre-smoking ban, like many bars of this vintage.
I like being able to get away from any kind of "scene" here.
Just drink your drink and keep it to yourself.

It's a dive and the food is pretty much on par with that evaluation. I've come here a few times, only because my friend lives around the corner. The servings are not very large or filling, which is kind of the opposite of what you'd expect from bar food, and everything looks like it came to the Spitfire frozen.

The bathroom is freaky too! No lock, a urinal and a regular toilet - no dividers or anything. On one visit while I was at the urinal, someone came in, dropped trou, and sat on the toilet two feet away from me. I've since avoided the restroom.

I'm writing this purely to increase my First To Review count.  At least I'm honest, right?  Came here with a friend earlier this evening... straight up dive bar.  Really no reason to come here unless you live right in the immediate area.  Good spot to split a cheap pitcher of beer, have some conversation, shoot some pool, eat some decent bar food, play some rock on the jukebox, and hang with serious local yokels.  Not many people were in here on a Friday evening, but to be honest, sometimes that's a recipe for success in my book.
