Great beer selection, lamb burger and truffle Mac and cheese (very filling) are great.  Would have liked to see server more attentive but over all nice lunch.

Spitzer's, as an institution, is hard to justify.  The food is priced like a gastropub, but is often middling diner quality: their burgers and veggie burgers are just so-so.  Fries are a little soggy and not really redeemed by the spices that coat them.  The neighborhood is chock full of superior burgers (either Mikey's or any one of numerous fancier joints that have superior quality and carefully sourced beef). Similarly, their beer list is fine, but not better than other places, and it's not worth paying elevated prices to sit on uncomfortable benches at awkward communal tables--you could walk two blocks to Marshall Stack for a far nicer ambiance and much kinder prices.  I suppose there's a scenester element, but the crowd mostly looks like they arrived recently from midwestern frat houses.  Which makes a certain degree of sense: New Yorkers hold out for better.

Great spot for a diverse selection of beers.  Definitely leans towards  a hipster type crowd but I am not a hipster and love this place.  I love the seating where you can sit on the windows.  The selection of beers is outstanding.  I have not eaten here yet but love the drinking part of this place.  Great & industrial-like cool decor.

Was there on a Saturday afternoon around 6...windows were open so we could sit and enjoy the weather and people watch (2 of my very favorite things). Enough beer on tap for him and plenty of yummy cocktails waiting to be crafted for me. I didn't eat as this was a pit stop on the way to a comedy show but I knew he'd like the place and I hadn't been in a while so I was interested to see if things were the same. They were...there's something to be said for consistency!

I love Spitzers, recommend it to people and live down the street and go frequently. Good food, good beers, good booze.

I am mostly writing this to shame them on how dirty their bathrooms are. Not always, but sometimes, it's worse than the dive-est dive bars I've ever been to.

    Clean your bathrooms Please!!!!

Came once just for a beer, and again for brunch.

The food is average. Nothing particularly special. I would rather have had a lunch pork belly sandwich, but it was available during brunch. So I settled for the pork belly and eggs. The pork belly was tender and fatty, but the flavors were lacking. The egg was just a slab of scrambled, not particularly good. The hash had a kick to it, which was different.

The servers are nice, and the environment is pretty chill, but try not to sit next to any DBs, because there are plenty there.

We came in here knowing the name, needing a place to eat and considered trying it. The ambiance is nice, definitely a good place for large groups. Our waiter was kind and attentive which is a fresh surprise in this neighborhood. I have no problem paying $10 for mac n cheese or 13 for a burger so long as i bite in and have no words. I wouldnt put it that way for this place. Our old fashioned was separated between simple syrup and whiskey.

Wandering around after a day of shopping, we wanted to stop for a drink and stumbled across this place. It's a great place on a warm afternoon since they have big open-air windows and lots of tables. They have an extensive beer menu (of which I drank none) but also a solid selection of wines.

I had the the truffle mac & cheese ... the tiny chopped veggies ontop were totally burned and the truffle was so overpowering I barley tasted any cheese. Not worth the 11$ at all. I would recommend MacBar for a much better flavor. It was kind of hard to eat and it was very liquidity. the cheese was no stringy at all. The service was good and the place looks good inside. I may return to try their burger.

You only need to know two things:
The hot pretzel + the Smokey Mule.

My BF and his friend seems to love this bar. It's got picnic style tables inside. Plenty of beers to choose from, but I usually get the Peak's on draught. Seats are supposedly hard to come by, but I can usually find seats for us, while they order at the bar. It is pretty spacious, but this place does get packed. Also, if you have a seat by the window it's fine. Also plenty of good people watching from the window.

This is an incredible bar. The atmosphere is lively, cocktails are unique and sophisticated, appetizers are original and satisfying, and the beer choices are stellar. I ordered a specialty wheat beer that was made with real peaches, and it was unlike anything I have ever tasted! if you want a great app, I recommend the sweet potato fries or the hot pretzel. Both are extraordinary.

The crowd here is mostly upper-20-somethings and 30-somethings, and it's simultaneously classy and chill. The decor is charmingly rustic, with cozy wood floors and massive wooden tables and benches. I could sit here for hours (and yes, there's ample seating!).

Great spot for happy hour, especially on nice evenings when the windows are thrown open. It also lets the music out, which is kinda loud. The drink selection is pretty wide, and the very of the busy intersection is also nice, and strange for side street action during rush hour. The service ain't so bad for the neighborhood, because even though it can be pretty busy here, someone is paying attention to the level of liquid in your glass.

I went here for a friend's birthday gather. The place was bigger than I expected with a huge area in the back. The place is chill and drinks were good and reasonably priced.

Located on the corner of Rivington and Ludlow (one block away from the Delancey Street F train station), there is a crowded restaurant bar that looks like someone's preppy backyard BBQ.  Don't be fooled by the guys in thong sandles or ladies with big framed glasses.  This place has a little bit of everything you need.  Welcome to Spitzers Corner.

BARTENDER! A ROUND OF DRINKS OVA HERE!
So my suggestion is to grab a seat in the back section since it is closer to the second bar.  There is a good selection of beer on tap so try something new and ask the bartender to help you make a selection.  The mixed drinks are standard NYC pricing ($10 - $12) and the beers will run you from $7 - $9.  Before you plan a big night out, look at the menus posted on their site and venture over with 1 friend just to have a few beers.

    CAN I GET A MENU?
The food was very tasty.  Kobe burger was good, Braised Pork belly was better.  Truffle Mac and cheese was awesome.  Order a basket of fries and popcorn for the table.  Servers were nice but since the crowd tends to act pretencious, you have to be really nice (like double dose of compliments nice) to get more attention.  We waited about 15 minutes for the food but drinks and good convo will dull your senses enough that you won't realize.  After work crowd and Friday night is really tough to get a good seat but if you pre-plan, you should have no problem getting service.

    CHECK PLEASE...
Overall, the crowd in the front is usually hipsters and has a loud conversation buzz so you will be yelling your stories to your compadres.  Hang out in the rear bar.  Shower your waiter and the bartender with compliments and be pleasant so you can assure that you get attentive service.  Try a new beer on tap and get your $16 Kobe burger served Medium (or medium well). Enjoy!

I was last at Spitzer's Corner several years ago.  However, I always long to go back after walking by and seeing the fun crowds energetically chatting inside.  So, when my friend suggested that our group head there for drinks and snacks, I jumped at the opportunity.

We walked into the main bar area and were told that all of the front tables were full, but that they could set us up in the quieter back space if we were willing to wait a few moments.  We were fine with that and  headed to the bar to place our drink orders in the meantime.  My friend and I each opted for cocktails but neither of us was that impressed by them.  I would definitely recommend sticking to their expansive beer list instead, as this is where they really excel.

We were soon escorted to our table, where we treated ourselves to all kinds of glutenous treats.  The Kobe Sliders platter included 3 small cheddar cheese burgers that were pretty tasteless for such supposed high-quality meat.  However, the pretzel brioche buns on which they sat were delightfully salty and buttery.  The Pork Fat Popcorn was packed with flavor.  Again butter and salt dominated each bite, but the crispy pork bits hiding amongst the crunchy kernels were a smoky delight.  Last, but certainly not least, was the extravagant Truffle Mac & Cheese.  The perfectly cooked pasta was swimming in a creamy mix of parmigiano-reggiano, white cheddar, and fontina cheeses.  The smooth blend was drizzled with aromatic truffle oil, and the whole dish was topped with panko, rosemary, and thyme.  It was baked to perfection, with the home-style crunchy topping and gooey inside that reminded us of our childhood.

Spitzer's Corner is a great venue for casual drinks and upscale bar food, especially when it comes to satisfying large groups.  Their beer selection is awe-inspiring and completely top-notch.

I know I have found my kind of bar when I can't tell if it's a bar with great food or a restaurant with great drinks.

The sauteed green beans were decidedly the best dish we ordered all night (even after all the boys in the crown scoffed at us for ordering them). They were crunchy and had a seasoning that I couldn't identify. All I knew was that I wanted more. We ate them with our fingers like fries. Their grilled cheese was also delicious, and everyone was thrilled with all dishes but the pork belly nuggets.

The beer selection is impressive, and they have a decent selection of wine and cocktails too.

I like the communal tables, the overall atmosphere, and I would definitely come back again!

The Pancakes had Bananas sliced and distributed on the bottom. I was surprised. They had some nice brunch selections going on.

I've been here twice and this place is neither here nor there for me.  It feels a bit too much like a college town bar.  I'm not a big beer drinker, so perhaps I would enjoy it more if I was.  Their mixed drinks are a bit pricey ($9 for a gin and tonic) and it took a while to get the bartender's attention, despite the fact that the back area bar wasn't super crowded.

I do like the space.  It's actually quite large, with a separate back room that tends to be a little less crowded than the front.  I like the idea of the long wooden tables and benches, with stools on the sides, but people seem to get a bit territorial here.  It's a good spot for people watching.

Overall, this just isn't really my scene; it seems to be frequented by the typical LES yuppie crowd.  It's a shame, because it's actually a decent space - the lighting is nice, and, were it not so crowded, it might be a nice place for a date.  But it's just nothing special.  If I were already in LES, I might come back to try their food (everything smelled delicious) or one of their specialty cocktails, but I wouldn't go out of my way for this place.

    This review is for Brunch.

    1.  Very casual laid back.  You can go there with shorts and flip flops. We did not have a reservation on a Sat at 11:30 and had no trouble getting a seat.

    2.  Super friendly service.  I liked the communal tables in the center, although we sat at a table for 2 on the perimeter.  You can also sit right in the front (bar style)  with a street view, but sadly, there is not much of a view on this part of Rivington.....just a lot of noisy cars.

    3.  I ordered the Lemon Ricotta pancakes and a side of bacon.  Really nice lemony flavor but I felt they were a little too heavy/dense.  (I have yet to try Clinton Baking Co.'s version, so I will update when I do.)

    4.  My husband ordered a burger and sweet potato fries.  The fries were fantastic.....ultra crispy with some nice spicy/kick at the end.  Burger was decent.

Wish I would have tried the Mac & Cheese.....maybe next time.

Met some friends here on a Tuesday night in the summer. This is the perfect place for hanging out with a group of friends to enjoy drinks and conversation. Very laid-back and spacious. Typically, easy-going bars are tight, dark and limited on seating so this bar is a refreshing alternative.

The beer menu offers alcohol percentage as well as the flavors so you know what to expect. Try several!

One friend ordered the Smokey Mule, a cocktail with chipotle-infused tequila with ginger beer. If you love hot, it's great! Typical pricing, though ($12.)

Overall, great experience, good location and cool vibe inside. The only reason I give four stars instead of five is because I didn't try the food though everything I saw looked awesome. I can't wait to go back and try out the food menu!

Not a big fan of low scores, but this place was not worth the visit, especially with the quality of the other restaurants around the the corner.

The portions were small, my girlfriend ordered the salmon with brioche.  The brioche was the size of a quarter.

The food was tasty but I would urge you to look at the other options in the neighborhood.

Had the lamb burger, a something salad, sweet potato fries,  been here a few times with friends.

Can't place it but something missing here, could be just the average food, and pricey tabs.

    Nothing special.

Fun place! I went to Spitzers on a Friday night around 8PM with two friends for cocktails and dinner. The space was full, but we were able to get a table within five minutes of waiting at the bar.

I had the grilled cheese which was delicious, love Gruyere! Also tried the lamb burger with goat mousse which was good, not great. The meat was a  bit dry, there are definitely better lamb burgers in NYC.  We split the pork belly for an appetizer, but it too was dry and the dipping sauce was spicy - we didn't finish them. As for drinks, they have a huge draft beer selection and fancy cocktails. I had an Allagash White and a cocktail I can't remember. Gin, prosecco and lemon - it was really tasty but not very strong.

Great beer selection, ok food, fantastic open space for the summer and not over-packed on a  Friday night. Its probably a better place for drinks than for food, but overall fun experience and great location in LES.

I absolutely love love love Spitzers Corner. This cool little gastropub in the LES clearly has been a fixture for a number of years in the neighborhood. So people have said it's become pretentious, well i clearly didn't see any of that on my first visit. I guess i can understand though b/c Cafeteria in Chelsea has a bouncer who stands out front and even though it's good food many of the clientele that visit are "extremely douchey!" hence the presence of a bouncer. Upon walking in I just sat at the communal tables and observed the bar, pretty spacious front area, can get packed for happy hour. A few separate tables for small groups but this place is more of a communal gathering type gastropub. This place is a craft beer aficionado's dream, a ton of different IPA's, Stouts, etc. from all over the world as well as domestic pours will definitely satisfy every type of beer drinker. My personal favorite is the Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout which goes down extremely smooth.

People have been saying the food quality has gone down here well i definitely did not experience that. I got the fabled Mac and Cheese and it is amongst my favorites in NYC. It's not blow you away amazing but it's definitely high quality and great tasting, the way the cheese melts and meshes with the breadcrumbs once it hits your mouth is nothing short of spectacular. But my favorite dish had to be the Kobe Burger, IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE IN FACT DEFINITELY MY FAVORITE BURGER IN NYC TO DATE. (clearly i haven't hit up Minetta Tavern for the fabled Black Label Burger) but yeah this burger was just unreal. The Kobe beef was amazing by itself the flavor truly lives up to the standard and add bacon plus a fried egg, the salty, richness and fat all meshing together was a thing of beauty.

p.s.- Hand Cut Fries are gigantic and pretty good as well....

Very busy and lively place!  We all sat at a communal table that was large with large bench type seats.  Most of us had a chicken breast sandwich with sweet potato fries.
The chicken was perfectly cooked and the bun was exceptionally good.  Service was very accommodating and we all enjoyed the atmosphere.  Place always seems so busy; but then again the food is something you do not forget about

Went here the other night, had a surprisingly good time.  The place is much bigger then expected also once you realize there is a room in the back.  Large beer selection, nice big communal tables too.  They do not keep the windows open all night though which is unfortunately cause it's nice to sit and have the breeze.  Food is decent as well, not amazing though.

    Will def be back.

My most recent trip for a friend's bday left me disappointed with the food! Everything seemed mediocre. I really didn't like my pork chops, so much that I basically only ate a few bites. The BBQ sauce was very heavy handed with salt. I had to drink water after every bite. The pork itself was dry and over cooked. I had a hard time cutting it and also chewing it!!

I still like the atmosphere and the fact they take large group reservations without enforcing a set menu...but the food is a bit inconsistent!!

One of my favorite places during the spring and summer!

The space is great for people watching. Whether you sit by the window, the ottomans along the wall, or the long communal tables - you're bound to have a nice view of the foot traffic. If you are looking for a seat by the windows, try to get there early!

The beer selection is also pretty great. Ranges from wheat, ale, IPAs, stouts... Spitzer's have you covered.

If you're looking for bar snacks, get the pickles, truffle mac & cheese, and if they have the cauliflower on the menu, get it!

Beer! Turns out all the place I like have a good beer selection. Love the big open window in the summer time - good ambiance and food. Grilled cheese is amazing, mac and cheese is tasty too. Def go there for brunch!

It feels a little like a college pick up spot late Friday and Saturdays - but probably just hating cause I'm getting old.

During my time in the LES Spitzers has established itself as one of my favorite bars. Any time I just want a drink with no direction or goal in mind I just go here. The beer selection is amazing and I love the general feel of this place. I've taken vendors, parents and friends hers. All have enjoyed themselves.

The food's pretty good too. I've come here for a few meals when I want a quieter spot or not in the mood for an all-you-can-drink brunch.

I tend to avoid it when it gets crazy packed on weekends. When I can't really find room to get to the bar I'd rather try one of the other bars

After a walk across the Williamsburg Bridge, I found myself in the lower east side and came across Spitzer's. What a cool spot.

Expansive interior (with room in the back and restrooms on a lower level), communal seating throughout which encourages mingling, and reasonable prices.

I was here for brunch and not drinks, so I can't comment on the alcohol selection, although it looked fairly extensive. But the brunch was exactly what I wanted and the staff was friendly and helpful without being overbearing, so kudos for that.

    Well done, Spitzer's, well done.

Spitzer's is the rare jack-of-all-trades that manages to surpass mediocrity. If you plan on heading one of the many dens of iniquity in the Lower East Side, but you aren't sure which one, and at which time, you'll likely while away an hour or two at Spitzer's. If you forgot to make brunch reservations on Wednesday, and didn't realize that until Saturday morning, you'll likely end up at Spitzer's. Neither of those statements are meant as a knock on Spitzer's. In fact, Spitzer's is a bit more appreciable, as it's a reliable neighborhood spot in an area that can be aggravatingly trend choked.

That is not to say, however, that the food is entirely conventional. If anything, the menu defies pigeonholing, with choices as diverse as pork belly and fried catfish, the former painted Hakka in broad strokes through its garlic, soy, and ginger marinade, the latter a bracing departure from heavy Southern comfort, brightened by parsnips and cucumber. Happily, the portions are not as small as the prices would suggest, especially for the area. From the standpoint of a bar, the draft list is rather good. Now, if only I could have an Allagash before noon. Damn you, Puritanical bureaucrats!

We had been to this place before and really liked it, so decided to come back on a Saturday night with a friend. The service was terrible, and our waitress was just plain rude. We were seated, ordered drinks, then told that we actually had to order food to keep the table. Food turned out to be entrées, not just appetizers. The waitress kept giving us a lot of attitude throughout, so we decided to tip her 10%. Before we left, she came and asked us in a very rude and confrontational manner if the service was ok. And that's when we realized we had tipped 10% too much.

    Never again!!

Came here with a group of friends with prior reservations. The food was surprisingly better than expected. My wife and I ordered the hickory burger and the braised pork belly sandwich. The burger  came with one pickle, one piece of lettuce, and ketchup. The beef was tasty, but what i don't get is...my friend ordered the same thing and she had tomato and onion with it...and mine didnt (wth?!). As for the braised pork belly sandwich, it was soft and juicy..but too much fat towards the end (but i guess you do need some fat there to make the meat soft). The sandwich was missing a sauce..it would have tasted much better if there was some type of sauce...the sandwich seems dry if the pork doesn't have much sauce on it.

If you want to have actual conversations with friends...this isn't really the right place to go b/c you would have to yell on top of ur lungs to speak to the person sitting across from  you. Speaking of the seating issue...i sat at the long wooden picnic tables with my back facing the bar and the waitress there always decide to deliver the food and drinks to my friend who was sitting across from me behind my back..and i got yanked by her elbow a few times...and she didn't even apologize. There is plenty of room on the other side of the table for her to put the food and drinks down, so I don't understand why she has to do it on my side..and i was really annoyed (did not even have the courtesy to say "excuse me" or say "sorry", geez).

Huge selection of beers on tap, prices are normal nyc priced $6+ depending on the beer you select.

This place is really good to hang out after hours. It has a good atmosphere and an amazing food!!!!

The bar area looks nice (this is very important for me), the place is decorated with wooden, old type furniture. That makes the place looking different, but certainly cozy....

The negative thing about this place is that, there is no music at all. It is really hard to have a good time while seating, drinking and eating when you do not hear any sound....at least for me.....

Do not go there on the weekend, the place is crowded with no possibility to sit or get to the bar.....
