Too bad the arcade game Mrs. Pacman was broken but awesome that Donkey Kong is free to patrons for use. There is also a skee ball machine in the back. It's a cute place but it felt less homey. Maybe it's a place where everyone is regulars with each other but it didn't just have as welcoming of a feel. Could have just been the night, will give it another go at some point I'm sure. Typical one man bartender situation, not a huge spot, but cozy. The decor was well put together, probably could have done with more comfy seating.
Review Source:My favorite beer bar in Fresno! Â They have a great selection and they always have something new and interesting to try, but it is the service and atmosphere that send Spokeasy over the top. Â Don't let the small space keep you from stopping in. Â After one beer you will be a fan too.
Review Source:My favorite bar in fresno. Â An absolute must visit for anyone who enjoys a good brew... amazing microbrews, almost all local and some amazing special brews from afar. Â And the lineup is always changing. Â I totally love the vibe... chill bicycle them bar with arcade games in the back and Belgiums in the front. Â Really cool bartenders who are the owners and really love to talk about the amazing brews they sell. Â Thanks so much for brining this place to Fresno!!!!
Review Source:Great place for craft beer (tap and bottle). Ben and Mike know their beers, and are more than willing to help you make an informed decision as to what you may like.
I like the fact that you can bring your bike into the pub. If you know the Tower, you know that bike theft is rampant here. I feel better having it stored inside while I enjoy a nice adult beverage.
The crowd's typically pretty laid back, which is a nice change from a few other places in the Tower.
Looking forward to the (possible) addition of more taps!
Went here this weekend after seeing all the great reviews on Yelp. Thought it looked like it was worth a shot.
Boy, was I right!
Craft Beer AND Skee Ball?!!?! Uh.... I think yes.
The bar is very laid-back and casual, but certainly has an awesome community vibe. The bartender was really friendly and offered us some chips and salsa to snack on while we enjoyed our beers. Very cool.
Loved this place and will definitely return the next time we are in the area.
Fun little hole in the wall place. Lots of beer selections, and almost none that I'd heard of lol. They have arcade games and board games to choose from, which I thought was neat. I tipped the bartender but then I realized I think they only serve beer. So him popping the top of my bottle didn't really deserve a tip and it's not like he could give me more alcohol for tipping him. Whomp whomp. Anyways, I'll probably come back!
Review Source:The closest I've found to a cheers in Fresno, a place I always feel welcome and enjoy everything. Plenty of beer from all over the country for $4 a bottle or $5-6 on tap, plus tons of specialty beers and 22oz bombers. If you care at all about craft beer, this is mecca. It's very obvious that Mark and Ben care more about spreading good beer than raking in cash. More than that, they're always willing to chat and get to know you or let you be, consummate bartenders.
It helps that it's not all IPA and APA, which I'm not a big fan of normally. They collect all sorts from all over, with wildly different profiles, often take requests from regulars, and know an insane amount about anything they stock. Every season is stocked up on new releases to match - this time of year is definitely my favorite, with the abundance of spiced ales and holiday stouts. Hell, even if you only like PBR or Miller, it's available.
One mistake I made early on: Ordering death by jerky with a friend, which burned so harsh that I felt it for days after. It's not on the menu, but it's still there, for anyone brave or foolish enough!
Like someone else said, pretty much like a friend's house party. Not a frat bar. Which I like. Lots of bicycling hipsters though. But not the pretentious kind.
Chill owners and friendly people. If you want to socialize you can, and if you want to relax with friends in a corner, you can too.
Good selection of craft beer at a good price. For a small place I was pleasantly surprised.
A low-key barcade in Tower District...my kind of spot! Their beer selection is pretty diverse, and they have Arnold Palmers for the usual non-drinkers like me. With Skee-ball and classic arcade games in the back, you can't go wrong. Come (or, preferably, bike) here and enjoy the atmosphere!
Review Source:Certainly my 2nd favorite place to drink in Tower. Â Why do I love this place? Â The beer and the atmosphere. Â First the beer. Â They have an excellent variety of craft brews (on draft or in bottles) and they are constantly changing what they have on their menu from one week to the next. Â Reminds me of some of the bars/pubs down in San Diego in fact. Â A few weeks back they had the 10th Anniversary Ruination by Stone. Â Excellent beer and even more excellent that this place happened to carry it, whereas even BevMo didn't even have this delectable brew. Â Second the atmosphere is friendly and very low key. Â Every time I come here I always feel comfortable. Â It's not loud and noisy like your regular bars and it's mostly devoid douches and idiots you may see in local bars and clubs. Â It does have its share of hipsters, but hipsters are generally peaceful creatures. Â The guy serving behind the bar (for the life of me I cannot remember his name) is knowledgeable and a genuinely cool cat. Â Plus, if you happen to live in the area, feel free to park your bike inside. Â Lord knows Tower is notorious for thieves and scumbags. Â Bonus: Â there's skeet skeet ball in the back along with a few vintage arcade games like Galaga, Donkey Kong, Ms. Pacman and some other game I can't remember. Â Beware, Donkey Kong is almost impossible to play while drunk, but it's free to play so who cares really. Â Yes, this place is great for someone who enjoys great brew and a chill atmosphere. Â No, it's not if you like to dance, act like a turd, or drink disgusting piss flavored beer like Bud Light, Corona, Coors, Miller, Corona, Keystone, Corona, etc.
