DJ needs some work. Not pack on a Saturday night.

Went to Hermosa after work with some friends. The main strip of bars was packed by the time we got there, with lines wayyy out the door so we walked up the street and randomly found this place. There was a small line to get it, no cover charge and by the looks of it the people inside were having fun. Once we got in, we went straight to the bar, had to wait awhile to put our drink orders in because there was so many people hounding the bartenders, btw there were only 2, they could have used more. There was sitting area a step above the dance floor so we sat there with our drinks for a bit. Talked to a lot of cool people. The DJ played a decent mix of music to please everyone in the crowd. This place was surprisingly fun!

DJ is absolutely horrible, ID checker is an ass asked when I was born, middle name, and then said "sure..." after. My ID picture looks exactly like me and I've never had a problem like this. Also music is so loud and high pitched my ears are still ringing. Best part of the night was leaving.

Blah. Went here with girlfriends for night of dancing. Music was weird mix of techno and house but songs switched every 20 seconds. SO Crowded, and WAY too loud. Also, mostly men (and NOT hot, young men, but older sleezy Euro-trashy guys). Impossible to get drinks from the bar. This place seemed way over the limit for fire code and the staff was douchy.

This review is just for the dancing since I didn't eat or drink anything here because I was too full from dinner at Samba Brazilian a few hours earlier.

A buddy and I stopped by to see if we could get some dancing in for the night in Hermosa and after checking out all the other bars on Pier Avenue with the humongoid lines, we decided to walk over to Cafe Bugaloo but couldn't get in because hats weren't allowed and my buddy was sporting one.

Walking a few yards up, we came upon Studio which used to be the Shore.  Heck, these places always seem to change every few years or so.  Studio seemed to be bumping inside and the music sounded great so we decided to check it out.

We were told there was no cover that night but they were accepting donations for the "Tropical Storm" Sandy victims on the east coast.  Sweet!  We threw a few bucks into the can and proceeded inside.

We were immediately met by a group of girls who were dancing on their seats for a bridal party.  The DJ was pretty awesome and spun some really good tunes all night.  We joined in the foray on the floor and were able shake it with various girls who were dancing and before the night was over, we were part of the entourage and they were dancing with us.  I enjoy dancing and if I had my druthers, I would rather dance to get my cardio workout done.  I was able to knock out some really cool moves because the music was moving, haha! ; )  The DJ was spinning house, old and new hip hop, just some really cool dance tunes.

I'd definitely go back again because it's a chill place to dance, hang out and meet people or at the very least, listen to some really great music.

This place is pretty cool , nice atmosphere , great part of town.  Check out the Thursday night Jam Sessions, there are some Badass Players in the mix and the PA System sounds great!.

*** Hands Down The Worst Bar / Club On The Pier!!! ***

Guess what stupid Studio people, you are not in Hollywood or NYC.  People at the beach don't need your stupid dress codes. Your food sucks. And, your DJ is lame.

Takes forever to get drinks and the staff is rude and snobby.  Basically the place is lame!

THIS PLACE SUCKS....If you don't have any service people than don't your open for HAPPY HOUR!! I'm sorry when someone walks into your establishment and not a host or server is around after 5 mins of being there. Then you do see him or her and make eye contact and STILL NOT A GOD DAMN THING...this is owned by the guy that owns Pedone's next door...His name is Mike and he sucks all around. Only good time to go to Pedone's is when all the other places close and people want to get a slice....They should close this place down HORRIBLE!! OH it gets a -0 star in my book.

Came here on a Thursday to support one of the featured singers. So can't say my experience is one that a person would have on a Friday or Saturday night.

Based on my experience I really liked this place! They have an excellent happy hour...got a Kettle One tonic and it was only $4!!!! Amazing!

The crowd was definitely older 50-60's but the atmosphere was very chill and laid back. The service was pretty attentive..all in all I had a great time. Looking forward to make it a regular Thursday happy hour spot.

Wow, what a weird place! What happened to the Shore? It was so much better!

The owner/bartender clearly did not want to be there. He left the bar unattended for 30 minutes! WTF. So, we were left there with no drinks, no service, nada.

When we asked him to make us a drink, he said he had no idea what that was. So, we told him what was in it. He just grunted and made it. All without a smile. He should be happy we are there spending money! Never met such a grumpy owner.

On a positive note, $5 shots during happy hour!

Might be a good place for cheap drinks, but not a fun hangout at all.

    Pass!

I stopped in at Studio which is the former location of the Shore.  Love the new decor and DJ location.  It was earlier on in the night and went straight to the bar and grabbed a few drinks. They are definitely going for a more upscale, Hollywood vibe but the drinks were comparable to most other places in the city.  Looked over the menu and saw a few food items that caught my eye. Had already eaten, but definitely going back to eat.

All in all, me and my friends had a great time and partied it up.

Awful!!! Took 40 minutes to get a drink and the place was empty. The server messed up our entire order. Food was terrible. Trying so hard to be Hollywood at the beach. The entire point of living at the beach is to get out of Hollywood. I won't be back! Establishment next door is 100 times better in every way!!!

A friend invited me to a white party in Hermosa, she said it was a new place, "Where Shore us to be."  "Okay!" I said, this sounded like fun as there have been some new places getting made over in the Hermosa/Pier Ave area so great to check one out for a soft opening!

I was reminded at the door that flip flops where not the regular at this place but since I WAS in all white there would be no problem letting me in, mostly I think it was that I was with my smokin' hot friend but she'd would deny that.  ;o)

The layout was familiar from the old Shore, the owners did a fine remodel to kind of open it up a little more with lower back booths.  The kitchen wasn't open so I'll have to update this after their formal opening this week, I can comment on the friendly staff though.  I was introduced to a manger/co-owner, Barry Bly, who my friend got the invite from, he was gracious and shared a bit to what him and the owner where looking to provide the area of Hermosa in the way of an upscale venue.  I think they've hit the mark dance and drink wise!  They had a fun DJ and a couple of cocktails didn't need me to leave an arm, the staff was sharply dressed and seemed to have fun along with the patrons.

Best of luck to the folks at Studio!  Looking forward to another night out here  :o)
