I've visited the bar a few times with my brother. This seems to be his gay bar of choice. Being straight, I have to admit that I did feel a bit awkward going into a gay bar, but they didn't seem to discriminate against me. And I wanted to show my support for my brother.
The place is rather small. 1 pool table and a digital jukebox. The bartenders I've met have been pretty cool. The patronage always seems to be low or maybe I just visited on the off-nights. Who knows.
Mainly locals. Very laid back atmosphere. Can't say the place impressed me. But then again, I'm never really comfortable in any dive bar, let alone a gay dive bar.
Not a bad place overall. Just not my kinda place.
I had no idea where I was going, but thats usually the case. I just get in the car and go where ever my friends take me.
That being said, we ended up at Dolphin Bar. Chill, relaxed gay bar. Â It was around 9:30pm on a Saturday night. Â There were about 5 guys at the pool table, and 4 more at the bar. Â Not very crowded. Â We left around 11/11:30 and the place hadn't picked up much more. Â A guy started fiddling with the laptop, so maybe he was going to start dj'ing?
Great place if you are looking for an easy, painless drink. 4 drinks cost about $30. Much better prices than you will find in Hollywood, thats for sure.
Bonus: not very crowded
Bogus: not very crowded (depends on your mood I guess)
ive been coming to this dive bar for several years. Its clean, its quite and the people are friendly. I enjoy coming here when im looking to hang out and actually have conversations with friends. Its def a local crowd and 100% southbay chill atmosphere...if youre looking for a dance party this is not the place for you. I do hate the fact that they removed the beer taps along with their pitcher specials...now they only sell over priced beer but hey? they got to make money right? It still doesnt deter me from being a patron. The bartenders are pretty awesome and friendly, Kaya is my favorite there.
