Sunny Side Up & Coffee Shop

I show up pretty often almost exclusively on Sunday w/ my tablet for a nice breakfast and a cup of black coffee. They pretty much nail it every time and if there's ever even the slightest hint of dissatisfaction they take it off the bill or make me a new one. The menu has something for everyone and the specials on Sunday give me a chance to break away from the usual Croque Madame I'm partial to.

All that being said, I'm particularly pleased with the staff. From the moment I walk in I'm greeted by a spritely host that recognizes me and seats me at my table. Makes you feel good when they treat you like your name is practically written on the chair. The waiters are very experienced, speedy, and always in good spirit.

As far as price goes... I'm not sure what people are complaining about. You're going to a restaurant across the street from some the nicest homes in Chicago. I personally roll out of bed and walk no less then 50 steps. This convenience is worth an extra $3-5. If you want eggs and sausage links on a budget go to Denny's.

1492 to Sunny Side Up!

This use to be a Spanish tapas place that was dark, crowded, and pricey, now sunny side up occupies it and has given it a new face lift.  The tables are more spread out, the room feels like there is more light and now they serve breakfast.  However, with that said, that was probably the only redeeming thing about this transition because the food was your typical diner food on nicer plates.

I had the traditional breakfast with sausage and potatoes, nothing was extraordinary, I mean the eggs were what I usually can cook myself, and at $11 a plate, I think I should be at least entitled to bigger sausages.  I don't see this place lasting very long unless they turn up the menu or reduce the prices.  Good luck!
