OMG I read about Sushi Katsu on FB and I had to try it out. All you can eat Sushi and I will tell you this is QUALITY SUSHI, Master.  Not the cheap sushi you find at buffets around these parts, ya'll. Wewere immediately seated even though they were really busy for lunch.  This sushi is really good!! My faves are the shrimp tempura rolls, the avocado roll and you must try the shrimp and salmon sashimi.   The price was $13.95 and we ordered some hot tea that was really excellent.  We probably ate what would normally cost upwards of $60 at any other place.   Been here twice so far and will come again!!

So im not really sure how this place gets an average of 4 stars becase for me this was definitely a 2 star place.  I came here becase of the all you can eat dinner menu  for $30 bucks with tax and tip.  Now granted for all you can eat places you cant expect top qualty sushi but ive been to a lot of places like this before and this was definitely below standard.  Now although its all you can eat, I thought that the pieces were really small, typically i can eat about 20 pieces of sushi but here I had to eat 40+ pieces to get full.  Second, is the quality, the seafood was "ok" but not the freshest, also I ordered the fried tofu and it was a bit sour.  Also the nori seemed a little bit too chewy, which is a sign that its old or that they dont protect it from moisture.  Now the service wasnt too bad since it was that crowded but everytime I ordered something that would have to come out of the back kitchen, I had to remind my waitress that there was still stuff missing from my sheet.  The overall selection on the  all you can eat menu was ok but there was no sea urchin or sweet shrimp or any other types of sushi that would be considered your everyday american cuts.

This is as good as it gets. Quality sushi at decent prices. The only complaint is you have to wait, because it's always packed, but thats because its worth it.

The sushi is good, but the service is the WORST I've ever had. The waitress took over 15 minutes to even greet us and take our drink order, and that was only after we called her over. She acted like we were a burden to her. To top it off, I found a black hair in my sushi! I told the waitress and she offered me a free dessert, which I had no appetite for at that point. No thank you. I'll never go back. There's other sushi restaurants that are just as good.

So, I've been here a lot.  Usually, it's pretty great.  Service is always a little slow, but that is usually because they are PACKED.  Today, however, I was truly disappointed.  I was seated immediately, which is pretty easy when you're by yourself.  There is always room for one at the bar.  The service today was actually pretty awesome.  My water never went empty and the waitress was on top of it.  The sushi bar however, seriously fell short.

I placed my order and proceeded to play with Facebook on my phone while I waited.  A few minutes later, another person was seated next to me and ordered a few minutes later.  The wait was longer than usual, but next thing I noticed, the person next to me was getting their food and I ordered at least 5 minutes before they did.  A few minutes later, part of my order came, just the nigiri, but the rolls were nowhere to be found.  I slowly munched down my plate of nigiri, still no rolls.  The waitress took my empty plate, still no rolls.  I grabbed another sheet of paper to place a second order, figuring my rolls got lost in the shuffle, and then they were finally handed to me.  The spicy salmon roll was just salmon with a TON of sriracha sauce oozing out of the sides.  That isn't right.  That's not how you make a spicy fish roll.  Yes, there is supposed to be some sriracha, but not just plain sriracha!  They were also falling apart.  The were poorly made.  The last bite I took, I had to spit it out in my napkin.  The cucumber in the roll tasted spoiled.  GROSS!

I only recognized one chef on the line.  The rest were all new.  You would think they would be properly trained before they were allowed on the line.  Apparently not.  Also, there was a tall Asian man wearing a grey sweater who was coughing a lot and not covering his mouth.  He was bringing food to tables and I even saw him back on the line of sushi chefs at times.  One point toward the end of my meal, I heard a loud cough and felt a burst of air on the back of my head.  He was standing right over me and coughed right on me!  This is completely unacceptable!

I will go back eventually, but after cold season is over and the new chefs have gotten some more experience.  I have had some great meals here.  However, the meal I had today was very questionable.  This was about 12 hours ago.  I feel fine, I don't feel sick, thank goodness, but man, this was NOT good!

Normally I really enjoy SK and the price for all you can eat sushi. They have a lot of variety on their dinner menu especially, like kalbi, cold salads etc. They have ok service, but on weekends, the service gets a little unstable. Which is totally understandable because, I mean, it's the weekend. We should all be accomodating during weekends because there is a greater wait time. The experience I have here are getting worse and worse though, and so is cleanliness and waitstaff.

today's review is about the experience I had this past weekend at the original Sushi Katsu location. The wait to be seated was decent for a Saturday, about 10 minutes. But each of the waitresses forgot our drink order, so we ordered our sushi and then got our waters etc. This was fine, no biggy. We got our sushi, and it was pretty good. The tuna and albacore seemed really fishy that day. We waited for our sushi rolls but didn't come, so we thought they're really packed tonight. We shouldn't pressure the waitress because the kitchen is backed up. But even after 45 minutes, we were still waiting. TOO LONG FOR 2 ROLLS OF SUSHI. We asked and she didn't say sorry or anything, just "wait." And then "it'll be here." So we waited another 25 minutes. Then we noticed the salads hadnt come out. For the entire 45+25 minutes.
    OVERALL
Sushi rolls: decent, not enough variety.
Sushi: fresh-ish (I once glimpsed the salmon coming out of the freezer in a plastic bag. Not sure if that is used for nigiri or not)
I love their salmon though! And they dont put crazy amounts of rice for one piece of fish. I love that.
Waitstaff: not extremely kind, just does their job. Very forgetful of orders/drinks... :'(
It's obvious that the waitstaff is not trained by a professional. They just do what they think they should do at a certain time, and I think they get their training from mostly the customers' wishes/complaints.
Cleanliness: Very poor. They stack sometimes moldy boxes near the firepit? random.. and INSIDE the bathrooms. The bathroom is rarely stocked with full bottle of soap. The tables are always sticky from them washing them with dirty wash cloths with rice stuck.

This is just one incident I saw maybe 2 months ago. One waitstaff, male, obviously had a cold, and he would cough and sneeze while he was walking around with fresh plates of food, wipe his nose with a tissue, put that into his pocket, then pick up some menus for a table. That is VERY rude and unsanitary. Not to mention unprofessional. He was coughing and you could hear the *excuse the bluntness* phlegm in his throat. But he kept on, coughing, sneezing, delivering plates and menus.
I do enjoy this place, but the lack of cleanliness and professional by the waitstaff is really bothersome... and the price for the dinner menu is by NO means "cheap", imo. I hope i never see dirty sticky tables and 45 minute wait time for 2 sushi rolls. And if a waitor is sick? Please GO HOME and stop coughing on the customer's plates!!!!! Isn't that normal manners/professionalism??

Here's the thing my little guy has to go to A-town once a week for some speech issues. Now this takes 2.5 hours, and I can't stick around and hang out with him. Actually they told me to leave, something about letting people do there jobs. Whatever!  So what's a girl who's never gone East of Wash Park to do? Yelp, what's this, all you can eat sushi. Why yes, yes I will!

Yes, I use my "alone" time once a week to go here, I get to stuff my face silly and maybe have a glass of wine. UNINTERRUPTED! Amazing concept let me tell yah! So it's not the best sushi in town, but you know what I don't care it's decent, it's my happy place with wifi. It's good not great but it gets the job done!

Bonus as a parent Costco and Safeway right up the road! Look I was productive today I swear!

    food: 3 stars
    value: 5 stars
    service: 0 stars

$13 all-you-can-eat sushi --- i'm there! we squeezed into this restaurant just 30 minutes before their all-you-can-eat lunch special ended. after waiting for 15 minutes to be seated (even though there were plenty of tables open), we marked down our order quickly, knowing that the kitchen was doing last call for all-you-can-eat. the waitress took another 10-15 minutes to come by our table, get us water, and take our order. when my friend tried to flag a server down, she just looked the opposite direction and walked by as fast as she could. when the same thing happened 3 times, we started to wonder if they were trained to ignore customers. the food came out and it wasn't stellar sushi but was definitely much better than anything you'd get at an asian buffet with sushi. their nigiri was decent and their rolls were good too. just stay away from their fried tofu dish and dynamite dish. we later found out that they were very understaffed that day because some of the servers decided to just not show up for their shift and when the manager called, they just told him that they didn't want to come in. well, more tips for those who were there that day? i felt sorry for the super busy waiters, but that didn't excuse the fact that they blatantly ignored customers. the lunch "buffet" price here will keep bringing me back. i can live with the service... it's pretty much one of the worst i've experienced, but it's an asian restaurant. can't expect too much!

I'm not sure you can beat $14 for all you can eat lunch sushi. Admittedly, it's not the best sushi you can find, but I think the price more than makes up for it. Beware of expensive sake!

If you're a sushi connoisseur, don't even come close to this place.  It's all-you-can-eat sushi, and even sushi of this type in Japan isn't very good.  I've had several rolls that taste like old fish and the sushi itself has a low fish to rice ratio.  The house salad is a joke and the seaweed salad doesn't taste fresh.  You would do better on a budget at places like Fontana...

    What a disappointment.

While the tempura shrimp/veggies were good.... the shumai, the yakitori chicken, salad, and sushi rolls were AWFUL.

The rice was soooo overcooked and pasty. The fillings were really skimpy and one of them had lettuce in it, which wasn't indicated on the menu.

The chicken yakitori was pure fatty gristle and the salad was a bowl of bagged iceberg with ginger dressing.... ew.

We will never return and fortunately didn't pay for most of it.

NEXT DAY: I was up vomiting all night.

If you look at the thickness and size of the fish they put on the sushi, their price is only good because if you go to a decent sushi restaurant, the fish are much thicker and bigger.  But what make this a good deal is they let you order special rolls usually cost a lot.  You can also order appetizer too!  My only complain is they put way too much unagi sauce on everything!!!  Everything just taste sweet and the same.

Advertised as quality all you can eat sushi and I must agree.  Open 11a-2:30p.  My brother was in town visiting from North Dakota and he is the one that invited me to his new find.  He found a coupon for 15% off online, so we went and discovered together.  We dined on a Thursday around 1:00p and waited only 5 minutes and were seated at the sushi bar.  My brother just returned from a trip in Japan, so nothing really was going to compare to what he just experienced.  We were just here to share recent stories and catch up over piles and piles of sushi.  Since our first visit, I have been back three times since in one month.  I guess I was hooked on the all you can eat option price for $18.00.

The lunch menu consists of; Miso soup, House Salad, Edamame, Gyoza, Fried Tofu, Shrimp Tempura, Calamari Tempura, Dynamite, Beef Teriyaki, Chicken Teriyaki, Salmon Teriyaki, BBQ Beef, Pork Cutlet, Chicken Cutlet and Udon.

Sushi Rolls include: California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Tuna Roll, Cucumber Roll, Tuna & Scallion Roll, Yellowtail & Scallion Roll, Salmon Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll, Avocado Roll, All Vegetable Roll, Salmon Skin Roll, Unagi & Cucumber Roll, Salmon Tempura Roll, Vegetable Tempura Roll, Calamari Tempura Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Philadelphia Roll, California Roll Crunch and Spicy Tuna Roll Crunch.

Sushi; Maguro (Tuna), Hamachi (Yellowtail), Shake (Salmon), Ono (White Tuna), Shiro Maguro (Albacore), Seared Pepper (Albacore), Ebi (Shrimp), Kani (Crab), Tako (Octopus), Unagi (Fresh Water Eel), Tamago (Egg Custard), Masago (Smelt Egg) and Kaibashira (Scallop).

For the price, I think that Sushi Katsu is underpricing themselves.  I would never say that they are the best place for sushi in Denver, the quality is good, par and tasty.  I think they compete for my mid-range all you can eat sushi craving selection.  The service is fast, very friendly and they like to joke around with the crowds, because there is ALWAYS a crowd.  Be sure to get your name on the list, show up around 11:30a to beat the rush and expect a wait.  Become friends with your closely packed in neighbors, I'm sure you will be seeing them the next time you visit.

Your average sushi place. The rice is too mushy. The sushi roll is so soft that it's hard to pick up with chopsticks. I wouldn't recommend to get all you can eat because I can only eat 8 pieces and most people I know can only eat about 8-10 pieces. No way I am going to pay $23 plus tax for that. Service is bad. The waitress would deliver your sushi and mumble something. Then you have to ask her again "what's this roll?" Service can be slow at night. It took our waitress 30 min to get or check.

    Less than ZERO.........

Sorry my mile high friends.....   If you think this place is good...... Broaden your horizons...NOW!!!!

First of all,  NOTICE the thin, and I mean THIN, paper thin pieces of sushi they put on a large ball of rice.  I watched them go out of their way to make sure the cuts were thin.  And don't be fooled.....  It's ONE piece per order (see top of order form if you're dumb enough to go there).  NEVER HEARD OF THAT.  Any real Japanese sushi restaurant would be ashamed..... I couldn't tell if the sushi chefs were embarrassed about it (because they work for pathetic owners) or they were in on the bad deal.  I believe they were just happy to have a jobs.

Second, expect a server to come around and re-explain the policy.  It's NOT noted but hand rolls are supposedly an additional 50 cents. WOW.  And that was 20 minutes after the woman came by and thoroughly explained  the do's and don'ts of AYCE.

With the high rating.......  I'm so confused.  I'm from out of town and I'm so disappointed that you mile high folks think this is acceptable.  Do yourself a favor and go to a sushi bar that is not all you can eat and see the difference.

These people (owners/managers) are total FRAUDS........  And a bad name to a good AYCE sushi establishment......

    AVOID!!!!!

I have been there three times now, twice for dinner, once for lunch.

I am a lover of sushi.  My boyfriend is a lover of sushi as long as it's just fish and rice (no cucumber, avocado, nothing).  And the fact that we could gorge ourselves on endless amounts of sushi, prefaced with miso soup, for under $70 was a steal for us (because we can pack away the sushi).  Yes, the rice to fish ratio is high, but I actually prefer it that way, which is why I like it.

I am addicted, beyond addicted, to their 911 roll.  Sadly, if I want that for lunch it is $2.95 extra, but that is still a deal (I could pay full price for the roll).

I never had a set server at Sushi Katsu.  The service is very free flowing and I can have 4-5 people stop at my table for drink refills, deliver sushi, etc., during a visit.  But at a place like Sushi Katsu, I like it that way!  The servers just are in the background, leaving me to devour the sushi and chat with my tablemates.

This place is a deal and well worth the price to pay.  Sushi Katsu is my go to local sushi place!!

For $24 you get all-you-can-eat sushi, and you'd think it'd be salmon paste and tuna paste on rice, but Oh, No Charlie, it's legit!  The wait staff was very friendly and the sushi chefs were talkative and had a good sense of humor.  A great place to belly up to the sushi bar and watch half a MNF game and get your sushi fix for the week.

You can choose any of their Nigiri, salads, rolls and specialty rolls within this deal.  There is one catch:  If you get overzealous and order more than you can eat. they will charge for all uneated fish, rice or rolls.  So order incrementally and you'll be fine.

I'm looking forward to going back!

Not bad for the money.... Just a bit too much rice under the fish to fill you up faster and use less fish!...  Also, the Tempura Shrimp has one piece of shrimp and A-Lot of veggies to fill you!..., they should have 1 to 1 ratio of shrimp to veggies... Again, it's a Fill-You-Up ploy....

The Ginger did not taste crisp and fresh, but kinda as if it were sitting a while (not used from the previous patron...?)....

Sushi Katsu is a good place to go for all-you-can-eat Sushi. My wife and I have been coming here regulalry for a year or so, give or take. The Sushi here isn't the best I've ever had but it is good enough to be considered something close to comfort food for me, and over this period of steady visits; not once has it been bad or anything other than tasty and fresh. The portions are smaller than what I've had before and the emphasis on the rice content is noteable, but this is offset with being able to order as much as you want. Watch out though, you must eat everything served to you or you face being charged full price for leftovers.

Also scoring high marks for consistency is the service. From the top down, this establishment functions well and the people here are generally quick; efficient and friendly in a genuine, unscripted sort of way. The  waitstaff here has taken good care of us from day one and thereafter, in environments that ranged from dead quiet to utter chaos. Eating here by myself, with the wife or with groups of friends or family, either for general purposes or for birthdays, the hospitality and atmosphere at Katsu has made for some good times. It is a very special place, indeed.

It's tough finding a good sushi place in Denver or the surrounding area.  I'm really happy I found a good affordable sushi restaurant in Aurora.  That would be Sushi Katsu.

I've had Katsu's All U Can Eat Sushi three times now, and all three times I left full and satisfied.  The sushi chefs and the staff are always engaging and friendly.  The sushi the the most fresh in Aurora in my experience and they don't overload your sushi rolls with tons of rice.

The place is rather small, so beware Friday and Saturday nights, because there is usually a line.

I'll keep this pretty short and sweet: if you come here for lunch you can get all you can eat sushi for under $15. Is it the best sushi ever? No, but it is actually quite tasty and well worth the price. And it's all you can eat! My favorite was the white tuna. Favorite appetizer was the spare ribs. Definitely coming back. It's very loud and chaotic in there and if you don't get here right at 11am, expect to wait.

EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS. It was about $70 with tip for my boyfriend and I to eat unlimited, fresh, awesome sushi. I find it hard to believe that Sushi Katsu made absolutely any money off our visit.

My sincerest apologies to all the fine men and women at Sushi Katsu for eating them out of house and home. Maybe if your food wasn't so good, you could have made more than a pittance from our visit. So really, it's sort of your fault; I forgive you.

Sushi Katsu deserves nothing short of 5 stars!

    Pros:
-Affordable, all you can eat lunch buffet
-Decent variety of selections to choose from including sushi as well as other Japanese a la carte items (e.g. veggie tempura, teri salmon, udon bowl, miso soup, etc)
-Order the spicy tuna (crunch)!!! And keep 'em coming!! To DIE for!
-It's hard to come by tasty Japanese food in CO but sushi Katsu feels like being back at home :) :)

    Cons:
-Super crowded if you go during peak lunch hours on weekends... line out the door.
-They supposedly charge you for whatever leftover food you don't eat, but I guess in the scheme of things this is probably a good thing.

I've gone twice for the all-you-can-eat sushi lunch and I've come away happy and full each time.  I can't say this is the best sushi I've ever eaten, but having experienced the horror that is buffet sushi, I came away from Sushi Katsu pleasantly surprised.

The sushi is made to order fresh just like normal orders and you can order as much as you want as often as you want by way of the usual pencil-and-paper menus.  You do have to temper yourself as anything you don't eat you'll be charged for.

I made a rookie mistake on my second visit and decided to get adventurous and try something new:  the seafood dynamite.  This, as it turns out, is basically a mixed bag seafood bits and pieces swimming in mayo. Lesson learned: don't go for novelty if you must eat everything on your plate!

Words of advice, if you have a big group get here early as it tends to fill to capacity quickly even during the week, next  I suggest to get the all u can eat option, and try to get  a variety right off the bat. My favorite is the spicy tuna crunch rolls. I could eats those all day

All you can eat sushi for $13.95 at lunch, $23.95 at dinner. The service is always wonderful. The only con is that during prime times the wait may take 20 or 30 minutes, but it always pays off.
My number one recommendation is the Unagi and Cucumber Roll.

So naturally when I found out about a sushi buffet in Denver with decent reviews, I had to try it.

Got there around 12:30. The place was packed solid.  Waited for about 30 minutes before getting a table, so I'd recommend getting here early to snag a table.

There's a paper order form on the table, and you mark what kind of rolls you want on the form and then give it to your server.  God bless those poor servers who seem to be overwhelmed but try their best to make sure every table has what they need.

During the peak of lunch it takes a while for our order to be made. Like many previous reviewers have said, the fish to rice ratio is a little lacking, but not overly so.

When you eat up your first round of sushi, grab another order form, and prepare for round 2.  For $15 a head, the quality of the sushi is impressive.

    Mmmmm OK.
Great service. Reminiscent of many Aurora sushi houses, upon entering the building I wondered if they are all owned by the same sushi family.
They have large tables for larger groups. It seemed very family/ event friendly.

The food was average, almost warm, very borderline.
Lots of choices for the all you can eat dealio.
Very reasonably priced menu outside the deal.
If the fish were better, this would be a great deal.
Definitely too far away from downtown for me to venture in for average food.

Yelpers- you did not let me down! The hubster and I were looking to get our sushi fix on Saturday night when I stumbled across this little beauty.

Now normally the shopping center would be reminiscent of someplace where I'm likely to get shot but pepper spray in hand we ventured inward.

    A) It's an adorable little place and with five sushi chefs behind the bar it feels really authentic.

    B) The service is not great- it took us about ten minutes standing up at the front to even be looked at and about another five minutes to be spoken to. The people sitting next to us who were seated after us got their drinks before we did too which although it was busy- come on ladies! Also we had to ask three times for a regular sushi menu and several times had to flag down a waitress so my man could get another all you can eat menu.

    C) After the lackluster first impression of the service though it was awesome- my hubby did the all you can eat and since I was pretty skeptical I stuck with the regular ole sushi menu.

    D) i was pleasantly surprised by not only the variety but the quality and speed at which these guys were hammering out orders. We would hand them our menus and less than 2 minutes later have the sushi right in front of us. It was bomb! It was an amazingly personal experience watching them make it and handing them our orders and getting our rolls so quickly.

    E) Try the spicy tuna biscuit- just do it. don't ask.

All in all despite the average service will definitely be back and this time I'll do the all you can eat too now that i've allowed my husband to be the guinea pig.

    Make it rain :)

I have one word that can describe my experience and that is...WOW! I say that for the following reasons:

    * The line was literally out the door the entire time my husband and I were at this restaurant, it was jam packed for approximately two hours.  But it was more than worth it, the wait list moved quickly and just as someone was seated another person was put on the list.  It is an immensely popular restaurant and everyone is accustomed to waiting because it is more than worth the wait!
*Sushi was fresh, delicious and made so quickly I barely had time to drink a shot of Sake and our six rolls were in front of us.
    * Service was excellent; efficient and friendly
    * Cost was unbelievable; we paid $50 (with tip) for 6 rolls of sushi, 2 nigiri, large Sake and a Sapporo! I was amazed!!!

Okay, first I have to say to be fair the sushi all tasted wonderful.  Quality of food is not in question.

But this review is about the bad service I received.  Of course the female waitperson barely spoke english, which I'm sorry, no matter what kind of restaurant, you are in America, have the waitstaff speak the language well, and let everyone else work in the kitchen, thank you.

The waitress spilled water all over the table and just walked away, did not come back to clean it up.  We had to get another waitress to bring a napkin, 5 minutes later.  The original waitress obviously couldn't give a damn about us.

This was further proven when she failed to bring out the second half of our sushi order and we had to get two other wait people to track that down and bring it to us.

I would like to post her name so people can avoid her but OF COURSE the worst you-know-whats never wear nametags and OF COURSE her name wasn't on the bill either.  She appeared to be the oldest one there, so watch out if you get an older waitress.

That is a plain "F" for service.  They were busy but when you are too busy to serve everyone stop letting people in, or hire more staff.  They also REALLY need a hostess.  There is none and waitstaff just yell back and forth at people waiting for a seat and point to tables.  NOT OKAY.

Again, the place has great sushi, but service is totally lacking.  If you don't care about that come and eat, but if you do, stay away.

    ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI!!!

    THAT TASTES GOOD!!!

Honestly, that's all that needs to be said. But I'll let you in on a little more info because, well, you're probably bored at work and need some reading material.

First, it's straight forward. You get a list plus a couple of pages from the menu to choose from, and it's go-time from there.

Second, there are all of the classics, plus some interesting special rolls. Quite frankly, the number of items you can order is very extensive. The BBQ beef roll was surprisingly delicious, as was the roll with roasted garlic on top (it's on the menu).

Lastly, they have a happy hour with a buy-one-get-one on beer. A tasty companion x2 for your feast adventure. Plus everyone knows that beer boosts your eating capacity, right?

Not the best sushi in the world, but very good to the point that you'll want to eat as much as you can. And guess what? That's exactly what you get to do! Plus it's really easy to make up the $24 and then some. Boom baby.
