Living near Taco Joint makes my lazy cooking days happen a little more frequently. I've done for carry-out and dine-in and had pretty good experiences during both. I've ordered the estilo baja (fish), rajas (beans), ceviche (MY FAV!) and the camaron. They are all really good tacos. I still consider them second to my number 1 love, Big Star, but that's ok. My bf loves their Al Pastor and considers the pork taco a little too greasy. We always ALWAYS get their elote and I even suffer from elote withdrawals from time to time. They're addicting! Queso fundido is pretty solid, but again, I've been spoiled by Big Star's. They have a wide array of guac and I personally like the traditional. The space inside is small and has a really cool feel with the dim lighting, old tequila bottles and wood decor throughout. We are always seated promptly, but that's because we know better than to pass by during peak hours.
The only issue I ever had occurred one time I ordered carry-out and they forgot one of my tacos. When I called to politely let them know, the manager offered to mail me a $25 gift card and 2 weeks later, I was there again. The service ihas always been pretty good and I don't really have any other issues. I'm just a spoiled, taco brat.
I've been here a couple times and have tried a variety of things:
*Great guacs- love that it's served with tortilla, malanga, and plantain chips
*Al Pastor and Camaron tacos were great---others were ehh
*Zocalo Margarita was strong, but not too strong
Wish there was another location further north
