I went one day to try it out since I always go to Rockys tacos. First off I waited wayyy too long for my tacos. The waitress put my order in wrong and they gave me a salad I didn't ask for. Once I finally got my food and I went home The food tasted good, but later that night I was soooo sick. I will never eat here again! I have never been that sick with food before. NEVER AGAIN!

    **New Management. NOT GOOD ANYMORE**

All of the reviews prior to this are correct.
But Taqueria El Aguila Real changed owners, since then the steak is not as flavorful and the salsa is not as good nor the beans. The beans taste like they're from a can.

Today I ordered tacos. I order them the same every single time. Only cilantro, onions and tomatoes. The woman that is always at the register knows what I want and recites it back to me exactly right. Today I received all tacos with lettuce, sour cream, and cheese!

I called to complain and the woman handed me off to a man who then hung up on me. Since I live relatively close I walked in there and asked why they hung up on me and told them that's not how they are supposed to treat customers.

The woman said if I gave her the tacos back she'd give me my money. I told her that I scraped off all that I didn't want and had my own cilantro at home.

I also told them how it wasn't as good since they took over and that they messed up my order one too many times.

Anytime we have visitors we bring them to this taqueria, and we order all the time. No longer will we be ordering from here and I urge anyone else to not give this place any business.

Try Rocky's Tacos, the place on montrose and whipple, or even the million others on Irving Park.

After a long day of moving and unpacking, we were starving at  11 p.m.  Certainly it makes sense to take a walk and see what the new 'hood has to offer, right?

Tacos were required.  Jackpot with El Aguila Real.

We walked past and the place was empty but well lit.  We tried the door and it was locked.  Sad.  Next, the little man inside came running to open the door and invite us in!  Bonus!

The man (not sure if he's the owner or what) was so very nice!!  He brought our chips and salsa while we read the menu and was very proud to announce that they were "on the house".  The salsa was great, nice and spicy the way I like it.  Two tacos and a steamy bowl of menudo later, we were very happy.  The carne asada tacos were very good, not greasy and the menudo was gigantic, spicy and chewy delicious, served with piping hot tortillas, cilantro, limes and onion.  All of our food was about seven bucks!

I know that this will be a regular go-to place for me in the future.  Honestly, I probably would have given it 4 stars, but the fact that he opened the place for us gave him the coveted fifth star.
