Pato Verde is a perfect lunch spot. It's a mom-and-pop with a great location near campus, but somehow get passed over by the rabble: the foot traffic tends, I guess, more toward Qdoba. This is just as well: there's seldom a line, and always tables available.
The burritos are quite possibly the best in town. I recommend the chicken Pato Verde burrito. They make their own salsas, which are delicious but can vary.
I'll note that they are pretty lacking in vegetarian options, and the one or two veggie offerings are mediocre. Omnivores, however, will be pleased.
Hey Yelpers. I'm from California so you know my culinary judgement is absolutely top notch. Just kidding I'm not from California, I just so enjoy reading reviews where someone mentions they are from California because I know I must be in for a surefire review that will lead to all things great. With that being said I have in fact had Mexican food in Mexico (in non resort towns) as well as Mexican food all over the country including but not limited to wild Yuma Arizona. I can say without a doubt Taqueria El Pato Verde is easily the best Mexican food in Eugene and is just great overall. The people are ridiculously friendly here. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Even the culinary experts from California will certainly appreciate it.
