Pato Verde is a perfect lunch spot. It's a mom-and-pop with a great location near campus, but somehow get passed over by the rabble: the foot traffic tends, I guess, more toward Qdoba. This is just as well: there's seldom a line, and always tables available.

The burritos are quite possibly the best in town. I recommend the chicken Pato Verde burrito. They make their own salsas, which are delicious but can vary.

I'll note that they are pretty lacking in vegetarian options, and the one or two veggie offerings are mediocre. Omnivores, however, will be pleased.

Hey Yelpers. I'm from California so you know my culinary judgement is absolutely top notch. Just kidding I'm not from California, I just so enjoy reading reviews where someone mentions they are from California because I know I must be in for a surefire review that will lead to all things great. With that being said I have in fact had Mexican food in Mexico (in non resort towns) as well as Mexican food all over the country including but not limited to wild Yuma Arizona. I can say without a doubt Taqueria El Pato Verde is easily the best Mexican food in Eugene and is just great overall. The people are ridiculously friendly here. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Even the culinary experts from California will certainly appreciate it.

Worst burrito I can remember. Bland. Even Taco Bell is better.

The best part about living in a college town is having access to an absurd amount of restaurant choices - and despite the absurd amount of restaurant choices available in Eugene, El Pato Verde is a cut above almost every other place in town.

First thing's first: This place is easy to find, right off of campus near the Sacred Heart hospital and across from Dough Co., so it's very convenient to get to regardless of where you live.

The food here is superlative. I was always partial to the steak super burrito, which has an awesome name to accompany its taste. The steak (and really everything here) is super fresh, very tasty and all of the flavors are married so well that it's hard to pick something less than stellar. Moreover, their toasted burritos are probably the best I've ever had.

The thing that merits mention most of all, though, is the wonderful service. I went there fairly regularly when I was in college and never received anything less than amazing service from the sweet married couple that runs the place. Most impressive of all, though, is that I came back two years later for a football game...and they still remembered my name AND my order. Pretty special, those people.

I guess the point is: If you want Mexican food in Eugene, don't even think twice about it. These guys are top notch.

After spending many years enjoying the best burritos on earth (i.e. SF Mission District), my first priority upon moving to a new location is finding the best burrito in town.  This quest began in Eugene in July and now, five months later, is complete.  The verdict: Pato Verde.  Don't miss the al pastor.

    Good food.
    Fresh ingredients.
    Friendly service.
I had the vegetarian Burrito on a whole wheat tortilla. It was tasty with fun fillings. It was vegan with an option to add dairy.

Every time I move to a new town I seek out the best Mexican in town.  It didn't take long to realize Pato Verde was that place.  I have 3 kids and they also love the burritos.  My 5 year old is constantly begging to go there.  The owners are friendly and make delicious food.

So, so, so , so so, good!  We were looking for a quick place to grab a bite after a tour of the campus and nothing popped out.  Did a quick check on Yelp and found this gold mine.  The decor is nothing amazing but the food is just that.  I wish I lived there and could have a toasted burrito once a week!  My son had a quesadilla that he claimed was the best he had ever had.  I would highly recommend stopping if you are looking for something delicious and filling that you truly can't get anywhere else.  Huge fan!

Toasted Burrito! So delicious. You get a huge burrito for 6 bucks, made to order. Not a lot of people know about this place but it is so much better than anything else in the area. And the woman who works here is always such a sweetheart!

Pretty great! Way better than qdoba or any other. For 6 bucks you get a decent size grilled burrito that tastes great close to campus.

Sometimes it takes a bit of time for an order to be served up, but their soft tacos and toasted burritos are worth the wait.

This place was really quiet when I got in.  It could be because there aren't too many students who know about this place and summertime isn't exactly the most highly-populated time for us in Eugene.  I was the only person in there and I was also their very first customer for the day at around 1 in the afternoon.  The restaurant is very small (probably can hold a maximum of 20 people) and there's not much going on in there.  I couldn't spot any sauces or condiments, which was unfortunate but also understandable if it is a place where many orders are taken "to go".  Since I was the only person there, there wasn't much reason to dine in so I took my order to go.

I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito and it was priced at $4.25, which I found very reasonably priced for a burrito.  The kitchen is open to the customers' view so I was able to watch them make my burrito.  It was great to see that they were making everything from scratch and were using fresh, high quality ingredients.  When she handed me my burrito, however, I was a bit shocked by how small the burrito was.  It was just a little smaller than a 500 mL water bottle, and I was able to hold it easily with one hand.  That being said, the burrito was delicious.  I was a bit surprised not to find any potatoes in the burrito, but it had beans to give the burrito moisture--something that most breakfast burritos lack.  Although I was disappointed by the size of the burrito, I thought it tasted great and I could tell that high-quality ingredients were used.

Overall, I gave this place 4-stars because the atmosphere of the restaurant wasn't very appealing and I didn't realize I was paying for quality over quantity with such a small business.  I'll have to go back during the school year and dine in to give it a fair review, however.

Al Pastor is the way to go here. Delicious food, and toasted burritos just make everything better.

How did I not yelp about this place yet? I hope they are still getting enough business, I know it always seemed slower after the Peace Health staff was gone.  I can see how El Pato would be struggling, so you should go now!

Many a break between classes was spent lounging around The Green Duck studying and enjoying their delicious toasted burritos. El Pato may have the best breakfast burrito in town. I love me some bacon breakfast burrito.

The great thing about El Pato is that it's close to campus, yet it seems that the majority of the students don't know it's there. This means  it's the perfect place to order some food and study a book/read a book/write a book, without an Alpha Phi sorority girl bitching on her BlackBerry about her sister stretched her sports bra. "That BITCH!"

I assume it's owned by the husband who does the cooking and the wife who takes your order. Seriously, try the toasted burritos. All this talk makes me want to stop by tomorrow on my way to work.

Wow, no reviews for this wonderful little restaurant? I'm surprised. This place is great. The toasted burritos are something else; the toasting gives the tortilla an excellent texture, and it also helps hold them together. My current favorite here is the Al Pastor burrito. It's got deliciously seasoned pork and a few slices of pineapple that add a cool juiciness that just ties the whole burrito together. Most of the burritos come with a decent amount of vegetation, too, which I feel is a nice touch. Too many burritos I've seen are just meat, cheese, beans, and maybe rice. It's nice to get avocados, tomatoes, lettuce and onions (as on the Super Al Pastor Burrito), as this helps everything feel a lot lighter and fresher.

Besides the burritos, they've also got a lot of typical items such as quesadillas, tacos, enchiladas, and tostadas. Everything I've tried is good, but the burritos are certainly the most unique item on the menu.

The portions are fairly light unless you order a lot, and the prices reflect this. I've gotten out of here with a fairly filling lunch for $6-7, and that was with a generous tip. The location is also a plus, as it's very easy to go here between classes and get a quick lunch. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Eugene.
