Surprisingly good airport food, and exceptional cocktails. I may have even seen a celebrity in the gate!

Watch out for the windows, as they can get pretty intensely bright in the afternoons, and there appears to be no way to dim the shine. Face away, or wear your sunglasses!

I can't recall which cocktail I selected at this point, but I had the smoked fish, and it was exceptional. I highly recommend it - it's on the appetizer section but was easily enough for me for dinner. I'm a light eater, so take that with a grain of salt.

Far and away the best airport meal I've ever had! Actually, airport or not, it's one of the better restaurant meals I've had recently. I got the wheatberry root-vegetable risotto and it was so good I took my leftovers with me on the plane and had the rest for lunch today back at home. It was not cheap, like all airport meals, but for once it was money well spent. I was super impressed with MSP's food offerings.

When you're killing time in the Minneapolis airport and you have the nibbles,  make your way over to gate G17.  Having only eaten breakfast there,  the plainly named breakfast sandwich was made and delivered with class.  The croissant was nice and flaky, coffee was good, and the service was great.   Probably one of the best airport restaurants I've been too.

Best airport meal I've ever had! Yum! This place is a gem inside an airport. My hubby's New York steak was to die for, perfectly cooked. It just melted! I got the wheat berry risotto and it was great too! What a nice break from the normal nasty airport food.

I'm always hesitant to spend my money at airports on food.  Mill City Tavern is one of those places that makes me question why that is.

Mill City Tavern is inspired by recipes from Chef Lenny Russo.  The menu is always changing, as they like to utilize seasonal ingredients in their dishes.  The quality is superb.  I have had a few dishes and always been impressed, from a walleye sandwich to gravlax to a portabello mushroom sandwich, all were great.  Mill City Tavern has local beers too.

Stop by G17 to give this place a try!

Bottom line: best airport restaurant I've run into, and I travel A LOT. If I'm ever back in Concourse G with some time on my hands, I'll definitely eat here again.

Airport outposts of popular, upscale local eateries is a growing trend, particularly in my home base airport, SFO. But, this MSP restaurant is the first to really turn my head. With the exception of the clunky plastic knife (a security measure, I'm sure), my experience was on par with what I'd expect from a higher-end brewery in a major metro. Amazing for an airport.

    Pluses:
    * Excellent service. The hostess was friendly, and seated me very quickly at a table-for-one that was perfectly situated for people-watching. My server was amazingly helpful and friendly, suggesting a great local beer and going out of her way to make me feel welcome. Midwest hospitality at its best.
    * Really great beer selection from local breweries, plus well-trained staff that can point out the nuances of the different beers and suggest the perfect brew for your tastes. I'd come back here for the beer alone.
    * Well-edited menu with farm-fresh ingredients, which really appealed to this pampered SF food snob.

    Minuses:
    * Not a ton of seating. I lucked out and got a table right away, but I can see how you might have to wait for a table during a busy flying day.
    * No real vegetarian main course options. Luckily, I'm a vegetarian for health reasons, not social reasons -- I gave up the fight and ordered a hamburger. It was delicious (and appropriately guilt-inducing).

Three cheers for Taste of Mill City Tavern! It's a bright spot at MSP, and a definite must-try if you are in the vicinity of gate G17.

Why in the world would I give any establishment in an airport a 5 star rating?  I mean everything is overpriced, workers are rude, it's hard to find seating and a small selection of food and beverages.

The reason?  Because none of those apply for the Taste Of Mill City.  Nice choice of food, a friendly staff and a great selection of beer on tap and in bottle.  I found that it is somewhat difficult to find an IPA when passing through (APA is more prevalent) however Taste of Mill has some excellent IPA's on tap.

This place can get quite busy because the choices are limited at this end however the service was quick and I was in and out of there in plenty of time to catch my flight.

No, I won't be making a special trip to the MSP airport to be dining / drinking here however if I ever find myself in Concourse G again, I know there will be a bar stool with my name on it.  No, not really...just figuratively.

I would never normally review a restaurant in an airport but wow! This place was surprisingly good! We came in for brunch before our flight and I'm glad we did- this kicks any little airport fast food place's butt. I had the potato frittata and it came with caramelized onions, a little bit of aioli and home fries. Very tasty! Filling but not TOO heavy. My husband's breakfast though- wow! He had the hazelnut french toast. I LOVE hazelnuts so to say I had a bite of his french toast would be an understatement. I loved how it came with LOTS of candied hazelnuts and a delicious vanilla whipped cream. Dessert for breakfast. Don't know when I'll be back in Minnie but I'll be thinking of that breakfast for awhile...

Wait a minute...  This is in an airport terminal?  Post-security?  Whoa.  How did this happen?

Fully three quarters of the taps are local with a decent spread of styles. (No grain belt BS).  I went with the recommendation and against my judgement and had a fried fish sandwich in an airport restaurant.  And the fried walleye was *good*!  It wasn't greasy, although it did come with more fries than a person should eat before boarding.  The prices are typical airport prices and not the astronomical prices decent eateries in airports often demand.

The servers behind the bar were fantastic.  Friendly, conversational while efficient, and with good, personalized recommendations.  They weren't just airport restaurant employees being rotated through whatever shifts are available; they work *here* and know the place.  I saw none of the "MN ice" mentioned here.  Actually, I hadn't run into it anywhere in Minneapolis.  And Taste of Mill City wraps up a visit nicely.

    Duh-li-shu-ssss...

Who says you can't have a cocktail with your breakfast? Not I! This restaurant is known for it's menu using locally sourced farm fresh ingredients...this is not your usual airport eatery.

I was greeted by the chipperiest waiter I've ever seen. I am not a morning person. At all. Unless of course I've been up all night and just happen to be awake during the sunshiniest hours. Since I had to be at the NY airport for 5, I was running on 2 hours of sleep, so it felt like I had been up all night and I just happened to be in a pleasant morning mood...but I digress...

Once I was seated, my completely affable, nice-guy waiter took my drink order as I looked over the menu (it's morning, so of course I ordered the 'Earn Your Wings' martini made of espresso, vodka, tia maria, and cream (it came complete with 3 delicious floaty espresso beans...HOW CUTE!))

I stopped reading the menu when I came to...hazelnut french toast? Count me in! As I'm sure you know by now (if you are still reading) it was incredible. Actually, it was perfect.

If you find that you have a little extra time between morning flights (it's on the Delta side of the airport, I think it was near G17 or something like that) I highly suggest checking this spot out. It was a nice break from trying to scramble around looking for an available chair at the gate, and still close enough so that you can see the flight information screens.

Food:  Best pulled pork I have had in a long time. Fries were damn good.

Beer: best in the airport, though could be improved (see below).

    Staff: Very attentive. No complaints.

Ambiance: It's an airport, but it was quiet enough on the Sunday I was there.

Recommendations/Complaints: Get Surly Furious on tap. I know it overlaps with Sweet Child of the Vine from Fulton, but it is Surly's flagship and in many minds a superiour beer (#3 American IPA in the world on beeradvocate). I can understand the choice of Bender for profitability/variety/approachability; however, I would gladly seek concourse G just to grab a Furious.  (extra tapelines anyone?)  :D

This time around, I had the pumpkin soup. It was almost like pumpkin pie, but not as sweet. The consistency and texture were great, soft, creamy and not thin by a long shot. I loved it.

This is based solely on first impression and the visit that I had here for layover before headed back to Orlando.

First off, great vibe, good mix of different kinds of people but still had the fun atmosphere of a bar.  Also great menu. Lots of fresh ingredients and "gastropub" type dishes.  I spied tartare, beef stew, burgers, and trout... really... such gourmet stuff at an airport?  SCORE!  I had the fish sandwich with a potato vinegary red onion slaw-type side.  Yes, it was delicious, and the fish was lightly battered and nicely flavored with a garlic aoli.  Their beer selection is pretty on point especially  if you prefer ones with better flavor than the budweiser/miller/coors light variety.  Also, even with the gourmet menu, you can get in and out in 30 mins depending how fast you eat, so you can get to your gate on time.

The Delta gate that this restaurant is located in, is a super long walk, so you are limited to pizza, a coffee shop, and the ubiquitous CIBO to go's... but I would dine here anyway...It's great that they have these type of restaurants in an airport.

get the Steel head trout gravlax for breakfast!

Had a flight to Las Vegas I was waiting for and wanted to get some breakfast before being stuck on the tin can for 3.5 hrs.

I stopped in here and the bartender immediately sparked up a chit chat and prepared my bloody mary.  (darned good bloody too!)  I got the chaser of surly.

So while I was looking at the breakfast menu I see a woman eating what looked like a smoked salmon plate. Looked good so I find it on the menu and to my surprise it was actually a steelhead trout gravlax plate.  I ordered on up and the bartender said "GREAT CHOICE!, your in for a treat"

While waiting he stops in and talks about the food served and he said that Trout Gravlax is really good here.  (he was right)

The plate come and its some warm toast triangles, red onions, lighlty pickled cucs, healthy helping of trout gravlax, 2 hard boiled eggs, cream fraiche w/dill.

THIS WAS OUTSTANDING.  well sized, excellent top notch trout gravlax and proper sides.  Great tasting and worth the order.

Look.. if at airport and waiting nearbye, know the drinks are spendy ($12 for a rail bloody) (it is in airport after all) but the food seems proper and better priced.

I came in for a quick beer when my flight was delayed at a nearby gate. Thankfully, despite how crowded the area was, my companion and I made it in for a quick drink. They had a decent selection (I didn't have high hopes for an airport restaurant) and I was able to enjoy a $5 beer while waiting for Delta to pull it together.

Good veal stew, but way too salty.  I'm starting to wonder if all Minni food are salter than California foods......

Oh, I also ordered their fish chowder that has no fish in it, but had LOTS OF CREME.  it was delicious, but wish had a few chuck of fish!

FINALLY!  An airport restaurant that actually serves good food and beer!  I've paid just as much for crap at an airport just out of desperation.  I had a grilled or roasted vegetable sandwich consisting of eggplant, tomatoes, onion and chevre cheese.  It came with a great fennel and mushroom salad as well as fries.  Our server was great with a great sense of humor.  Great way to start a trip!

this review is based on one visit and one item i ordered.  i got the cider pulled pork sammich that had sliced apples and mustard on a buttered, toasted ciabatta roll.  the sammich was pretty tasty; came out really hot and juicy.  the bread was fresh and had a great texture to it.  it was the first pulled pork sandwich i've ever had w/ these flavor combos, so, it was nice to try something different.  however, the portion was too small.

it came w/ a side, red potato salad, tossed in a vinaigrette w/ celery and pickled red onions.  here is the thing, tho, the sliced potatoes were RAW.  uhh...  what.  the.  it was crunchy, flavorless and left an unpleasant starchy aftertaste.  perhaps they were lightly blanched??  nonetheless, i could not enjoy it and considering the salad portion was just as big as the sammy, it was a shame, esp when i paid about $17 after tax and tip.

i'll be in st paul again next month for business, but probably won't dine here again.  probably just grab a slice of pizza, which you can get about 50 feet from this joint.

I only had a little time between flights so I chose the fish chowder. Quick service, great flavor with plenty of contents as described. A great place to get quality food...not cheap but worth it.

I love the new trend of halfway-decent eateries in airports.  How I wish this fad would find its way to BWI.

If you're flying out of gates G17-22, this is as good a stop for layover food as any.  This place had nice local microbrews and decent food of the upscale pub variety.

In particular, if you're flying out of G17 or 18, you can't do any better than Mill City.  Due to the layout of this section of the airport, the tables for Mill City are all but sitting in the waiting area.  From my table, I could easily read the monitors for those gates.

So many delicious choices on the menu. The roasted beet salad is a MUST! The best I've ever tasted. Unparalleled airport dining experience compared to the long list that I've tried. Fantastic service, great bloody Mary's & an outstanding pulled pork sandwich. Clean, prompt, friendly. So glad I walked past the food court! Don't pass this up (in terminal G in MSP). A very satisfying experience, will definitely return when I pass through again!

Jennifer made us feel right at home.  No rush and electronic outlets at the table.  The roast beef sandwich has a nice horse radish sauce that was the perfect touch, cucumbers for crunch.  The trout lox was very good on a toasted bagel:; plus, a very generous portion of trout.  We'll be back.
