My valentine date and I had a fantastic time at Timpano on February 14th. The ambience and decor were wonderful and we were greeted to the melodious sounds of a live jazz band and singers as soon as we entered the restaurant. We were very impressed with the fact that the General Manager introduced himself to us. All staff members welcomed us as we were escorted to our seats. The lighting was perfect and we felt right at home.

The food was every bit as scrumptious as we imagined. I had a pasta dish with chicken and Tony tried a pasta dish as well. We were so full towards the end that we didn't have room for dessert.

I definitely plan on heading back to Timpano to try some of the other things on their menu. This is a restaurant that understands both what great food and great service is all about.

I went here with my wife for a Valentine's day dinner yesterday. I liked the reviews and the options on their menu...so I made the reservation online.
The parking was tricky cos the public parking garage's door has been broken and the only option was the $7 valet parking. So I went on to the street and found an empty spot with the city parking meters.

The restaurant was very nice. I saw most people wore jackets but I think just dress pants and shirt should be good.

The staff was very nice and courteous. We were seated immediately. The drink selection was good. My wife got the lemon drop martini and I got the espresso martini. The espresso martini was delicious, it had kahlua, espresso and stoli vanil.

    The complimentary bread was awesome..

We got the tomato and burrata flat bread for appetizer...it was delicious..with crispy flatbread, melted cheese, grape tomatoes, basil and chili flakes.

We got the eggplant rollatini, watercress and arugua salad...

    The rollatini was delicious...

The salad had candied walnuts, tangy vinaigrette....but the menu said it had granny smith apples which I didnt find in it...

After a delicious dinner, we ordered the tiramisu for dessert....it was a super huge portion and the bad part is it didnot taste good...it was dense and had a little too much alcohol...Quiet frankly it kind of spoiled the experience.

But except for the tiramisu..it was a wonderful experience and very delicious dinner. Best of all..our waitress was just wonderful

We went on a Thursday for an early dinner before going to the Theater. The restaurant was great we were greeted and seated promptly. We started off with an old fashion bourbon and a  Hollywood Martini both were spectacular. Our waiter Jason was great in telling us all the specials and since it was our first time telling us about the most popular dishes and his favorites.
We started with Mussels and calamari. The mussels were out of this world and the calamari was average. We had piping hot rolls with a great tapenade.
Our BLT salad was amazing and they even split the salad and brought to us on two plates so we could share. Definately worth trying!
For dinner I had the seared sea scallops over polenta and asparagus and my husband had the fish special. Snapper with fire hot pasta. Everything was delicious and the live jazz music made the evening even more special. As the night went on the place because extrememly packed.
you are never rushed and your water glass is always filled to the top. Everyone is very attentive. Great atmosphere and location.
I would highly recomment reservations. We were seated quickly and i took another yelpers advice and requested a booth and it was perfect. The outside tables also look like an excellent choice. The deserts looked amazing but we were rushing to the theater and passed. Would definately be back!!!

First of all, my rating is based on first impressions. I've only been here once and would probably go again for a few select items. Specifically, the fire roasted mussels. These were cooked to perfection and delicious. Make sure you spritz them with lemon and watch out for the fiery hot plate they're served in (my poor boyfriend burnt the crap out of his hand). The bread they bring out was fantastic - served with an olive oil and olive mix.

They have a large wine selection and if you're on a budget, check out their "last call" wine list - they had a few good bottles for a fraction of the cost.

The ambiance was fine, although it is not as romantic as some of the reviewers were making it out to be. I went on a Friday night, so the place was packed and a bit loud.

Our server was attentive and nice.

The reason I'm giving it 3 starts was because my main course dish was not up to par with less expensive restaurants. I ordered the sea scallops with polenta drizzled with lobster sauce. Although the polenta was pretty good, the scallops were slightly cold and had a very dense rubbery texture to them.

Finally, for dessert, we had the creme brulee, again nothing spectacular but it was good.

I would go back for appetizers and drinks but skip the main course and dessert.

Martinis ($10) were very good, the Mussels ($12) appetizer were excellent and the presentation was pretty cool.

The Chicken Picatta ($18) was good, but not epic, and the side pasta was outstanding --- even though I was never told that it costs $5 extra. Seriously, I thought this was pretty lame "price non-disclosure" for an Italian restaurant.

Valet parking was expensive for a short dinner, but not too many other options for the area.

Loved the mussels.  Everything else was good as well (we had a pasta and steak dish- pasta was made from scratch and delicious).  Service was also really good.  Loved the piano bar.  We had a delicious dinner and a wonderful time.

A bit overrated. A lot of staff, looking very important, yet very slow service. They were nice, just not attentive. The menu had good variety and the food was good.

Been here several times over the past five years,  great atmosphere,.... great service, ...excellent pasta dishes,  and some of the best steaks in south Florida, all for about a hundred bucks a couple,....compared to other steak houses in the area...what a bargain !

This place is awesome. It also gets VERY BUSY so make a reservation.  They have live Jazz music and have recently expanded to the business next door. They also have outside seating which is awesome. Valet is around the corner and super convenient.  I think I've eaten here at least 10 times and it's been in business for at least 5 years.

Get the Dirty Martini with the 3 different stuffed olives- prosciutto, caviar, and blue cheese.  Personally, I skip the caviar and double up on the blue cheese I find the little eggs float in the bottom of my glass and that is not good for me.

I ordered the eggplant and loved it.  You can't go wrong here.  They are infamous for their skillet mussels which people order in droves!

Our waiter was hustling as he has a lot of tables, but he made it happen.  They also have a large 'party room' in the back for parties of like 15 or more.

****I wish they would do a Sunday JAZZ brunch***** that'd be sweet!

Mafia-chic. Amazing Italian food, romantic atmosphere, and impeccable service. I had the linguine with clams and my husband had the New York strip with the winner of the night: the Mac n cheese. It's to die for! Our server was wonderful - attentive and professional. I ended my meal with an espresso; I was outside when he brought it. He put the saucer on top of the espresso to keep it warm. As soon as I sat back down, he took the saucer off for me. That's one bad ass waiter.

    We'll definitely come here again.

Only reason for two stars instead of one is the oysters were good. Other than that this is not a place to remember. The decor is sad grandmas house and the food is not very good. The crowd is mostly seniors or business trippers. Definitely skip this place

I have been there twice.  Both times I have been very pleased.  The service is excellent and the food is amazing.  I had a dish last time that had a lemon/creme angel hair pasta that was just amazing.  At least that's what I think was in it.  Had a nice taste to it.

Nice restaurant. We ate outside. The bruschetta appetizer was excellent. Our kids food came out right away, without us asking - so it us very evident the staff has a good understanding of how to cater to a family with young children. My salmon dinner with spinach and mashed potatoes was superb. Only negative was the outside seating had lots of mosquitos and lots of people passing through to the valet parking located at the back of the outside seating. Food was very good, though.

Timpano was Very Nice, but One Complaint.

Lets get that out of the way, the Arugala Salad, specifically the 'Spicy Walnuts' in the Salad. Timpano please listen, they almost ruined my date. She kept complaining her mouth was burning, I could see her in discomfort. She was eating the salad and trying not to be embarassed. We finally found out it was the Walnuts. When I tried one I was like 'What the $@#@#' it was horribily cheap Chilli Power Hot. This added nothing to the salad and I had to spit it out. My mouth burned for 20 minutes.   Please remove these from a Salad, my poor girl was in so much discomfort that night, it runined the dinner for her.
    -----------
That said and to be fair I was impressed overall. The Venue is nice, the staff was over the top helpful and fun. I had the Pettie Filet which was amazing with Polenta and Veal Reduction. Yum.

Just do not order the Arugla Salad...

I cannot say enough about my 3 trips to Timpano, twice in the course of a 6-day Florida vacation, and we were staying 25 minutes away from the restaurant.

I was introduced to Timpano by family living in Florida. We were a large party of 14 and the experience was so memorable that my wife and I made it our business to go back on our next vacation. It couldn't be as good as the first one, could it?

Yes, it could. I had the same dish that wowed me the first time, the Ahi tuna served extra blue. Unbelieveable. I would say it is one of the top 2 pieces of tuna I have ever been served. I wanted more. I almost ordered a second one - the price is so incredibly reasonable. Thankfully, I saved room for dessert. The first time I had their cheesecake lollipops, this time we opted for the mini-desserts in a glass. Parents, cover your children's eyes, a few of the mini-desserts bordered on orgasmic. Seriously.

We went back to Timpano a few days later and, you'll either laugh or completely understand, I ordered the exact same things. When it's this good, (and I mean exceptional) there's no reason to try anything else. Guaranteed satisfaction (and that word isn't strong enough...).

Timpano ranks among my favourite restaurants in the world. Not only would I return, but it's the kind of place that must be considered when choosing where to vacation.

If you live in the area, please go tonight. Have a piece of tuna and the strawberry mini-dessert for me. Oh my... Incredible. GO!!!

After the first time I went to Timpano, I thought there was nothing that could get me back in the doors. Being in the industry, I'm pretty easy to please, and realize that sometimes things happen to have an off-night - but the service we got was unbelievably bad. To be brief, our server ignored us all night - we each had one drink, then empty glasses the entire night (never got to order another one since he never came back). Our bus boy was more attentive. Our appetizers and meals came out at the same time. And when it was time for dessert, he handed us our check and said "you guys don't want dessert right?" To add insult to injury, we saw him giving great service to a table of ten right next to us... obviously he knew he had a better chance at a huge tip if he focused all his energy on the big table. He could've made a great tip from us if he'd simply checked on us and treated us like we mattered.  I was so upset (we were from out of town and it was our one night out for a romantic dinner), that I actually wrote the manager an email detailing our experience. He immediately emailed me back, telling me the next time I was in town, to come back and he would show us how they normally treat guests.

We took him up on his offer over a year later, on our next trip to south Florida. He remembered me when I made the reservation, and encouraged me to give them another shot. As soon as we went to the host stand, they ushered us to a really nice, romantic table. The manager immediately came to our table to introduce himself, and talked to us about our previous experience. He told us we would never have a night like that again in his place, and introduced us to our server. He was young, fun, attentive, and genuine. I think that makes a huge difference - he brought me the wrong glass of wine and instead of making me feel like it was MY fault or that it was the bartender's fault, he simply apologized and laughed and said he was still learning the list. It was great. We had a delicious appetizer, two amazing meals, and dessert. Our drinks were fantastic, as was the wine, and our server continuously made us feel at ease and kept us smiling all night. I wish I could remember his name, because when we go back (which we will for sure!) I would request him.

Aside from the service being spectacular, the wine list was really great, and the food was unbelievable. My boyfriend doesn't eat seafood, yet when he tried my Ahi-Tuna seared rare, he even admitted it was delicious.

This second experience almost made me forget the first one. The manager came to us throughout the meal without being overbearing, just making sure everything was going perfectly. It really did go perfect. Everything was amazing. The manager took care of the bill for us, which was completely unexpected, so we gave our server a great tip, because he really did earn it.

I cannot wait to return to Florida to go back and give them more business. I loved this restaurant.

The meal starts with soft bread and a garlic, olive oil, red pepper flakes and crushed olive dip. I'm not a fan of olives at all but this was amazing.

Next came the mussels which were served in a cast iron skillet seasoned very simply, but incredibly flavorful.  Mussels were tender and not fishy at all.  I am very picky with mussels and these were exceptional.

They had a tempting Wagyu bone-in ribeye special, but after tasting the meatball appetizer, I went with lasagna with a side of meatballs. I typically use the lasagna as a mark of how good of an Italian restaurant is. Let me just say that this was the best lasagna I have had in a while and I have tried many. I will be back very soon!

I go here a ton..  It's excellent.  My favorite place for dinner on Las Olas.

    The Venue
Very nice, great location.  I really like their lounge as well.  I recommend playing it safe and making a reservation if you're going during prime time (thur, fri, sat) for dinner.

    The Food
Italian chop house..  I've been here dozens of times and have never had a bad meal....
The steaks are good but I usually stick to the italian since there's a billion other steak places in FTL.

    The Service
Unbelievable how consistent it is.  When I take out the visitors for work or fun it's my go to place because you can absolutely count on it to be a good experience.

You can't go wrong... If you haven't been and want a more upscale night on the town .. It's a perfect place to start.

This place brings me back home. Timpano is reminiscent of the classic restaurants and clubs of Chicago. I have always received prompt and attentive service here.

They feature big flavorful steaks, chops and pasta along with a nice selection of full-bodied red wines. And let's not forget about their LARGE martinis. This restaurant has a sophisticated setting, great food, and live music in the lounge.

Live music seems to be a thing of the past which is crazy! This place offers a great selection of well-known jazz groups. Get up and dance...you won't be alone!

I always recommend Timpano to friends. There are several steak or chophouses to choose from and with Timpano being at a lower price point, you really can't go wrong.

Can I give 6 stars? We always LOVE this place! Having never been there before, I decided to look into it for our wedding rehearsal dinner.  The menu looked really good, and they had a large private room that would be perfect to accomidate the 40 of us.  I was expecting it to be very good.  The events manager Alyssa and her crew did and excellent job of answering all of my questions and setting up the menu and everything the way we wanted! The steak was amazing! It was so well seasoned and cooked to perfection! All of the food was really good! The service was impeccable!  We never had to wait for anything, and they kept our wine glasses full! We went one time for dinner and the food and service was really good that time too! I also loved the appetizers and drinks at their recent grand re-opening.  We will certainly  be back!

Not what it used to be.  The food was mediocre, nothing special at all for the price.  Most had a bland taste.  I hadn't been there in several years and it was a different experience.   Will probably not return.

This is my first review ever...my experience at Timpano in Ft. Lauderdale was so unique that I felt compelled to share. My fiancé and I were in town for a weekend getaway and decided to have dinner there. The evening had all the makings of going horribly wrong. First, the hostess gave us the wrong direction when we called (the restaurant is on east la olas, not west). When we finally found the place, we had to wait nearly 20 minutes for our table to be ready, even though we had a reservation. However, the restaurant manager Joe offered us a drink on the house for our inconvenience.

For dinner, I had the filet and my fiancé had the pork chop. My filet was perfect, but my fiance's pork chop was extremely salty. We both have family in the restaurant business so we try not to be too picky, but we had to at least ask if the dish was supposed to be so salty. Joe noticed that something was wrong and he immediately stepped in to help. He offered to replace the dish no questions asked, and even brought us fresh sides to go with the replaced dish.

In all, we really thank Joe and his staff for being so helpful. The food was delicious once everything was straightened, and the drinks and live jazz were great. Many times we go to restaurants and have a bad experience and the staff does nothing to make things right. Because of Joe, we will be visiting Timpano every time we are in town.

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and it was my first time. Short ribs are amazing in this place...A most have!!!

Impeccable service and great music. The dinner was incredible. Very friendly bartenders.  This is one of those places that you go for the first time and then time pass by and you still remember everything about it.  The food is amazing, the ambiance is romantic.

This is an update to my review from April 2011.

Visited last night after an extended Timpano hiatus. It was a Thursday night and absolutely rocking! The band was playing as usual and they were getting ready for a large party of 60. The hostess seemed a little overwhelmed when I checked in. I felt like she was half listening. She checked me in but didn't quite finish her sentence before she was ushered away by another hostess. I stood on the side and watched her check in two more parties after she returned. Here we go again. It seems to be the theme these last 2 weeks with me. I approached the stand once more as she says "what was your name again?" Gave it to her and was told it would be a couple of minutes. Fine. I waited.

A couple of minutes later we were ushered to a table right by the kitchen door. My back was just a couple of feet away from it and with their awesome black skillet mussels being so popular  and the hustling night they were having this meant I felt the whoosh of the servers over and over as they went from place to place with the still smoking skillet. I asked about getting moved to one of the nearby booths that were open. Was told no. Was told no again when we asked for a manager/owner.

My husband wanted to leave at that point. I chose to stay because I didn't want to ruin the dining experience for the friends we had brought this time. One of the reasons I was told no was that the booths were "reserved" and then "only for parties of 5".  Minutes after I was told that I see the servers setting up the booths for parties of 4. Huh? Took a deep breath, told the waiter that I hoped that was not the case because I also had a reservation, had a valid reason to not want to sit at this table any longer, wanted a booth and was just told it was just for parties of 5 yet there they were setting up for 4 people. Minutes after that the manager/owner came by and moved us to the booth. Sigh. What a way to waste 20 minutes of my time when we should have been sat at the booth in the first place! Kudos to them for ultimately making it right but it was quite a rocky start.

Luckily, this place is pretty solid. It was the first time I have had an issue in all the years I have been going there. The bread was hot and perfectly doughy. We ordered the spinach salad with goat cheese (instead of blue) and of course, the mussels. Great salad with an incredible vinaigrette and the mussels were absolute perfection.

The guys had steak and the girls had the lasagna and the shrimp fra diavolo. All exceptional. They did run out of specials by about 8:30pm (was told it had been Chilean sea bass) and also of the cheesecake lollipops I so adore which was disappointing. We skipped coffee and dessert and just went to nearby Kilwin's instead. The party of 60 turned out to not be intrusive at all (unlike my other experience listed in my Market 17 review). They had this one under control.

If you go, make sure to request what kind of seating you prefer: outdoor, indoor, booth or table. I know I will from now on. Other than that, enjoy great service, great food and ambiance!

This is a great little spot. If you go, you absolutely must order the steamed mussels. They are the best I've ever had in a restaurant. I've also enjoyed all of the other appetizers that I have ever ordered especially the flatbreads.

The entrées are decent but not what I would call my favorite aspect of this place. There is usually a cute band playing and the atmosphere is always nice.

I'd recommend this as a place for a date or as a nice little gem to visit with good friends.

Timpano is a lively, Italian-inspired eatery.  The vibe is definitely relaxed and enjoyable, and the clientele are into it.  The dining room is loud, and a bit chaotic.  Service alternated between periods of hovering and complete inattention; not a good approach, but no harm done.

As for the food, the pan grilled mussel appetizer was everything my fellow Yelpers claim-- a very good starter, and an "automatic" on my visits here.  The entrees are well-prepared from quality ingredients, but more times than not, resonate on my palate as thinly-veiled pedestrian cooking.  Of course, this is a personal take-- dining companions generally thought more highly of the flavors.  Perhaps my expectation is of a more vibrant and robust cuisine, more attuned to the atmosphere.  I can't be overly critical of Timpano just because their flavors evoked memories of some very ordinary Italian meals to me, so 3 stars is fair.  My business colleagues are, of course, free to write their own Yelp reviews.

My buddy and I had thanksgiving dinner here and it was great.

I'm very picky when it comes to meat and both our steak and turkey were delicious. The mussels are a definite must have. The bruschetta is alright and the crab cakes are good, but when are crab cakes not good?

This place is brilliant. A classic jazz bar feel. Excellent service and tasty food. I did have a few tailor made cocktails which pushed my bill up.
You can eat at the bar which is good for solo yelpers like me (hint yelp create a category for solo dining) .
I was happy there was no fries offered with my meal, just veal in a tasty sauce.
Bar staff are great and is definitely worth a visit on a friday/sat night when they have live music.. seems like a cool place.

The mussels were fantastic. They grill them on a skillet. I have never had anything like it.
The service is attentive. 5 stars.

The prices are reasonable for the caliber of food and service. The menu is extensive.
Lots of pretty people at the bar.

Timpano is one of my favorites of the downtown Fort Lauderdale business district restaurants. Timpano is stylish, somewhat chicy, has very good foods with unique touches, interesting preparations and top notch service.

The dinning area is large and one almost feels that they are in New York City restaurant club environment. The patrons are generally well dressed but casual attire is also well accepted. Clearly, they like to associate themselves with the Sinatra style which is made more than evident by the large Sinatra picture behind the piano.

Not only does Timpano offer a large, clean, fresh, airy inside dinning area but a full length outside patio and sidewalk dinning area.

One of the "must haves" if dinning at Timpano are their Black Skillet Mussels, which are partially cooked, then placed on an iron skillet, roasted over an open fire, covered with kosher salt and olive oil; then served while still in the iron skillet.

Their other dishes equally offer a touch of uniqueness and flavor in their preparation taking their dishes out of the ordinary food category; elevating to a higher level.

Timpano has an excellent wine collection, full bar and a large bar seating area. Often times in the early evening there is piano and jazz entertainment offerings.

I've been here once with a date and it was a really good choice. They make homemade pasta which is always a +2 in my book. Ambiance is nice and the waiters were very cordial.
For a upscale dinner to take out clients or someone special its a slam dunk... as long as they like Italian food, haha.

This is my favorite restaurant in Fort Lauderdale...maybe anywhere.  We always start with the mussels and ask for them cooked well-done, because I don't like it when they're still wet and soft.  I love them.  That sizzling noise when they come out is music to my ears.

Great cocktail menu, extensive wine list.  I always enjoy the jazz band playing Sinatra type of music.  Good service every time.  Mini desserts are the perfect amount (and the strawberries with Grand Marnier are good!!)

Everything I've tried on the menu (and that's a lot!) is delicious.

    What a nice Wednesday Night.

1st time to Timpano, never heard of it. Walking in to the restaurant you can hear the music playing and to the right they have a bar section, towards the back is the dinning room area. The decor. is super cool. Very cozy and stylish. We were directed to our table. After a few the waiter stopped by to give us drinks and wine.

For appetizer we had calamari. Yum! I think this is the best calamari I have had so far. The bread was freshly made and delicious.

I decided to order the Roasted Salmon that was Marinated with Dill and Shallots, Served on Sautéed Artichokes and Spinach with a Mustard Cream Sauce. It was very good. I even got a chance to taste the Mussels.. I was a little terrified to try something coming out of a shell but I was told it was delicious so I gave it a try! I have to admit it was very tasty! I was a little afraid of the texture, however, I think I would definitely order the Seafood Cioppino next time.

Our waiter was very attentive and friendly.

I would definitely recommend you all to check this place out. I will be returning soon! :)

I have been to Timpano's for lunch and dinner on numerous occasions. Sometimes it is fantastic and sometimes mediocre. When the service and meal are fantastic the prices are a good value, but when the service and food are mediocre, it is a bit over priced.

The steaks here are very good, however I have been disappointed with other items off the menu, particularly some of the Italian inspired fare. The mussels appetizer, wedge, and some of the sides I have sampled including the the mushrooms and mac and cheese are quite good.  From now on, I am going to stick with the steaks.

As for lunch, Timpano's draws a large business crowd but most lunches for me have been unremarkable. The decor is swanky, rich, and warm and it certainly has an upscale feel. Service is generally good but also falls short on occasion, waiters not checking up on tables, failing to refill waterglasses...

My rating of a three may be unfair since I am basing this review on numerous meals there, however I needed to average the "5"s Timpano's deserves with the "2"s that unfortunately it also deserves on occasion.  Alas, due to Yelp's disbelief in half-stars I am being a stickler and rounding down.

I don't think I would have ever gone to Timpano if not for Yelp.  My friend and I were looking for a good new place where we could meet in the middle and catch up for a night, and I stumbled upon this fantastic restaurant and its many great reviews.

When you walk in, you forget that you're in Ft Lauderdale, FL.  The atmosphere in here has a very NY feel to it.  Especially on a Monday night were most of what you see are business-types enjoying a nice dinner and drinks.

We ordered the mussels, and to my delight, they WERE the best mussels I've ever had.  I thought Bonefish Grill had the best ones, but these trump Bonefish's.  They bring them to your table on a sizzling hot plate and you can smell them coming from about a mile away...Gives your mouth a little time to start watering.  Be prepared, taste buds, for when the first mussel hits you, you will never be the same again.  Simply, deliciously, and freshly prepared with butter sauce.  I highly recommend dipping even your bread in that sauce.  It is amazing.

Main dish was the wild mushroom pasta with truffle oil.  I decided to go for that, even though my experience with truffle oil has been that it is really easy to put TOO much truffle oil and ruin the dish.  I was a little worried, but Timpano came through.  This pasta had just the right amount of truffle oil to give the dish a kick, without overpowering the mushroom flavor.

They have mini-desserts and cheesecake lollipop trees available to top off your meal.  When I go back I think I'm going to give the cheesecake lollipops a try.  I was too full this time around, but in the best way possible!

I was feeling homesick for the SF Bay Area and was driving on Las Olas Blvd. It was clear from the crowd outside this was a place to check out. I cannot wait to come back here!

I had a martini at the bar area, then another drink (one of their creations) and both were superb. The home sick blues were quickly replaced by the "I want to move to Ft. Lauderdale feeling".

I was with some friends I recently met on this business trip and we each ordered a different appetizer. I feel like a pig because I helped finish theirs and ordered more even though we were to be seated for dinner soon. The service was good despite being very busy and they feigned enough interest and concern for us that I was satisfied.

The rest of dinner was a blur, maybe beacause we kept ordering cocktails. I can remember really enjoying my mean and wanting to come back desperately with my family so they can try it out. I need to tell everyone if they're in South Florida, make the effort to go here!

Living in Miami, I don't get to venture out as much as I'd like to restaurants in Broward. Fortunately, we were having a girls day out, caught a show at the Broward Performing Arts Center and ended up at Timpano for an early dinner.

We got to Timpano just a few minutes after it opened, around 5:15pm or so, and by 6 o'clock it was slammed. The martinis were amazing. I tried a grape crush and I ordered my usual French Martini- both were delicious.

Now, on to the food. It was a big group, so we got to try an assortment of things.

    Appetizers:
The flatbread was divine. Big enough to share!
The calamari- not too fishy, just the right amount of breading, awesome!
The crab cakes- The order brings 2...they had a lil kick to them, delicious!!

For dinner, I had the filet with a side of mashed potatoes. The filet was such a nice surprise! It was cooked to perfection, exactly how I like it. Most places get "medium" wrong. It's always either too bloody or too cooked, but Timpano was spot-on. The garlic mashed potatoes were also perfect. I typically don't eat my sides, but I couldn't resist.

Other people on my table had the bone-in ribeye, the chicken parm and the lobster ravioli-- and they all got rave reviews, especially the ravioli which had a bunch of shrimp served over it.

Dessert was okay- they do the dessert shots a lot of restaurants are doing now...But they also do flavored lollipops which I thought were kind of cool.

Service was good, not great, but the food and atmosphere were outstanding. I will definitely come back to Timpano!

Now this is my kind of place with great live music, good drinks and really good food.  This is a real classy joint (not just your typical wanna be) and I love taking my better half here for a date.

We arrive to the bar where you can enjoy a cool older group playing either good classic covers like old blue eyes or some jazz and there really good too!

We almost always order a crab cake appetizer, a steak and a mojito though I've tried other stuff on the menu and it was all very good.

Tips: Dress nice and make reservations.  Like most classy places they really don't like it when I show up in shorts and flip flops.
