Only been here for a few local shows and it's always a great time...
There's always a small cover but nothing too crazy...
From reading the reviews I'd like to come back and have their brunch
This is a cool spot to hang out with friends and close to all public transportation

I went to Township on a weekday at 10am with my computer, doing what I usually do when I work from home, which is get out of the house. It turned out to be an excellent decision, though I'm not sure if that had as much to do with Township being a good place to get work done, as it did with the fact that I started drinking at noon. Anyway, like I said, excellent decisions were made.

My day-drinking choice was at least a semi-respectable one: the FANTASTIC Unicorn's Blood, which tasted, as one would expect, like espresso and mythical creatures. I had the Saag Paneer Scramble too, which did NOT taste like Saag Paneer. But it did taste like "yum", so I happily stuffed my face.

The service was a bit lacking. Electrical outlets were too, though this is pardonable since Township is a bar, not a cafe. After being told by one employee that I could sit at a four-top near one of the two outlets, I unpacked my bag--only to be told by another employee that he'd rather I not take up that whole table, despite the place being nearly empty. Shuffling of my stuff occurred, followed by furious typing, eating, and drinking, and then four hours later, the latter employee finally warmed up to me and was much more pleasant. I can only assume this was due to unicorn magic.

Great, great, great brunch... and a really fun staff.  I cannot recommend this place more highly.

    Thanks!

I left work today after an exhausting week and had an intense craving for a good burger and a beer. Didn't feel like schlepping up over to Revolution so the bf and I decided to give Township a try. I was not disappointed. The burger was awesome and I love their crispy, battered fries that were so good they didn't need ketchup. The burger was juicy and delicious, the bun was good (although when I got home I realised I had lots of bun bits stuck in my teeth so if you come here on a date bring some floss), and I had a Two Brothers Northwind beer (so good). Burger was $10, beer was $5. Not a bad deal. Service was good. I'll be back.

I can't even remember the last time I've had such poor service at a restaurant!

My wife and I stopped by to get brunch - we'd heard some decent things about the place and figured to give it a whirl. We began by waiting and waiting to be seated (even though the place was 50% capacity) - again...why have the sign if you don't have someone dedicated to seating people? We placed our order for food and continued drinking our coffee. Two tables were then seated on either side of us. They too then placed their food orders. As we waited for our food, we noticed that they got theirs first...then as they finished their food we still sat waiting. Our waiter never stopped by to check on us, so finally we flagged him down...he obviously didn't put in our ticket...but he went to "check on it" and came back 5 minutes later saying "there was a snag on the line..blah blah" food took another 15 minutes. All in all, for two egg dishes it took township 50 minutes to produce. The food saag paneer scramble and the daily special were decent, but certainly not worth the price or bad service or missed opportunity of eating brunch somewhere else in the area (Revolution, Lula, Longman, Owen & Engine etc). All in all, my wife and I are fuming - so we tell our waiter .... "Dude..when people are waiting on their food, you need to tell them why they are waiting, especially when tables around them are getting served" we do this in an effort to be kind and help him with future tables. He proceeds to give us a ton of attitude and gives us some bull about entres taking 30 minutes at township, so its our expectations that were the problem yada yada. Anyway do yourself a favor and avoid this place

Went to township for brunch today. I liked the diner vibe. I didn't like the dive diner service.

There is a sign that says please wait to be seated, but there were only two servers working and it was pretty full. The guy behind the bar saw us and said to sit anywhere so we did.  Why have a sign that says wait to be seated when you don't have a hostess?

We ordered two omelets and waited, and waited. A couple sat down next to us and got their food about ten minutes later. I flagged down our waiter because he wasn't checking in and seemed confused we didn't have food. Which he might have noticed sooner if he came by to refill my bottomless cup of coffee at any point. He said he would check on it. Then proceded to bring us the wrong order, then finally brought us the right order saying things were crazy in the kitchen.

He didn't offer an apology or cop to the fact they obviously screwed up taking 30 minutes to make 2 omelets. On top of that they over billed us and we had to send the check back to get the correct bill.

Maybe I just had bad luck here but there are a dozen places with better food within a few blocks. The food was good, its pretty hard to screw up an omelete, but not worth the bad service.

Old Milwaukee, or as we from Wisconsin call it, "Old Mud," in a can for $2, #winning.

The employees were pleasant and helpful. I was delighted with this place for the punk rawk show that I attended.  Some of the attendees to the show were a bit too "hip" for me- that's probably because I dressed like myself instead of looking like a 19-year-old-homeless-punk-rock-fanatic.

It is weird how the nearby street parking, which is adjacent to the Green Line California stop, is not metered. Makes it really difficult to find a place as there is little turnover at the sanctioned parking spots.

My friend and I went here for a late brunch (about 1pm) last Saturday afternoon. There was no wait, but the place was pretty busy. We sat in the back room, which was a weird place to eat... hence the 4 stars rather than 5. The food was really good, as was the service, but the atmosphere in that back room was so weird it really took down the experience a notch. I wish we would've sat in the front. :( But oh well! Like I said, the food was really good and very reasonably priced. We split the savory pancake (like a pancake with corn and leeks topped with hollandaise). I had the grilled cheese (a fancy grilled cheese on brioche with roasted tomatoes and some sort of aioli). My friend had the cremini mushroom benedict and liked it as well. It was served with a very interesting potato cake. When we asked the server what the spices where in it, he said the chef likes to keep those top secret. Ok then! It was good either way. I felt that they had a fair amount of vegetarian options and even saw they had a gluten free breakfast burrito. I'll be back!

Every meal I have had at Township has been great.  I feel so lucky to live so close to a casual restaurant that has great food at great prices.  I can't say that it's a fancy place but I still love the casual atmosphere.  The food is quick and easy and delicious.  I've had the battered fish sandwich with an amazing herb tarter sauce.  The beet salad is wonderful.  For breakfast the espresso French toast and green eggs and ham are full of flavor, especially when paired with their super strong coffee.  If you are looking for an easy and relaxed meal, this is the place.

I guess I'm not the only one here. Look, I want to like this place. The food is good, it's in my neighborhood and the staff is actually very nice. But for the love of god: HIRE A HOST/HOSTESS. It's completely ridiculous that 4 of the 5 times I've been here, we've just stood at the door for 5 minutes with nobody coming our way at all. I've even sat at the counter and waited almost 20 minutes for someone to even give me a menu and a water. It's like the waitstaff isn't actually assigned to specific tables and they just kind of do whatever and seat if they notice people. And I've never waited less than 40 minutes for my food. Like I said, I've found the waitstaff to generally be sweethearts, just logistically challenged. It would also help if they actually advertised the $20 card minimum that other businesses in the area don't have, instead of springing it on you at the end.

Again, I want to support this place. I loved the owner's previous restaurant, Treat, and I like the venue. Hell, I'll probably even eat here again. But the waitstaff situation is such a bummer.

I attended a concert at Township a few weeks ago. Ticket pricing was reasonable. Drinks are reasonably priced too.

The place is some what of a bar, cafe, concert venue and restaurant. The atmosphere is nice and despite what seemed to be a prerequisite to own a MacBook to frequent the place, the crowd wasn't that awful either. There were a lot of unemployed looking twenty something dudes though...

Their drink list is well sorted (any reasonable person should be satisfied). The staff was friendly too. Amy was very accommodating when there was a billing error and even chatted my friend and I up for a bit!

I'll definitely be back for drinks or coffee. Maybe next time I'll try the food!

Finally tried this place after a good amount of friends raved about their brunch and I am only a couple of blocks away from this place.
I have nothing to complain about. The service was enjoyable, the salmon benedict was amazing and the place is cozy.

I go here for shows as well and I've always got my beer without a bitch face on.

    Review for musicians who gig:

Lots of bands have been booked here lately, thanks now to mpshows involvement, so chances are you'll be playing here soon.

Venue is divided in half, with the south side along Palmer St. reserved for bar and food. The north entrance holds the room. It's small-ish, with a stage in the back corner. You and the crowd have to shuffle past stage right to leave the room. There's a bar along one wall. Although it's small, the sound is fine and I think you'll have fun. There's a long hallway behind the stage that can hold plenty of gear, or they'll make room in the dining area. You can set up merch in this area as well. There's no green room or anything like that, so arrive in your rockstar best.

To load in pull up alongside Palmer.  There's a loading zone - nice! - and you'll be able to get everything in quickly through a side door. Parking isn't awful around here, especially at the time of day when you'll need to arrive to load, and you'll find something on California Ave. We got a couple of drink tickets each and half off food. Good beer list, with some bomber specials, and the food was good.

If you haven't been here yet, you might be wondering... yes, this was Panchos. Upgraded (?) to Township. Cooler name, I guess. Waiting on the cooler decor and design upgrades. A yelper would notice that it seems a bit dingy, but honestly, the crowds don't seem to care.

I didn't come here for the food, nor did I come here for the drinks (even though I did have a few), I came for the music and to rock out! (Which to be honest was the best reason to come here in the first place.)

Before last night, I had no idea this lovely little venue even existed, but I'm really happy to have discovered it, as it's conveniently located just steps away from the California Blue Line. Did I mention, I LOVE living off the Blue Line?

Anyways, I came here to see 3 fantastic bands: The Artist Formerly Known as Vince, Prima Donna, and The Dollyrots, in that order.  The cover wasn't very much, which was wonderful because then I still had money left over to buy drinks - Jim Beam and PBR for $6 anyone? And even after that, I still had money to buy merch - The Dollyrots new album, and pins from Prima Donna and The Artist Formerly Known as Vince, which was pretty nice.

Plus, it was just awesome to rock out with 50+ people who enjoy good music and good times on a Tuesday night. If any more bands, I'd enjoy seeing, make a pit stop here, you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be here shaking my tail feathers!

I've been to and played many a show at this place both as Township and its previous namesake Panchos.
I really like the direction the new ownership has taken the place.
The sound is always good and the beer selection is awesome.
Only negatives are sometimes the covers are a little high and I think that keeps attendance lower than it could be. I understand you've gotta pay for the sound and everything but more people in equals more people buying drinks.

My only other critisims are no draft beers and lack of decor. This place is shaping up to be a pretty cool spot and absolutely has the potential to become sort of a homebase for local music if it allows itself to show it's character.
Plainly painted walls and no decor to speak of really make it rather character free and for a place that had so much under Pancho this is disheartening.
I think Township will figure out what it wants to be and these things will sort themselves out though. At least that is my hope.

Good beer, good sounds/bands, and good food literally a stones throw away from the California blue line stop.

The food was good enough, it was a real cute, open space, especially on a nice, sunny Sunday morning, and the two piece Scott Joplin lovin' band was perfectly unobtrusive.

Damning, however, was the BAD case of "HiSSS" the restaurant suffered from: Hipster Shitty Service Syndrome  (and, by the way, I just coined this, so don't steal it...you'll hear from my phalanx of attorneys).

Few things enrage me more than establishments that think they are doing ME a favor by ALLOWING me to spend my money on them.  The waitress, with dead, uncaring eyes, took her time doing everything.  "Everyone want water? Awesome!" 10 minutes.  "Coffee? Awesome." Another 10 minutes.   3 of our 4 orders were also deemed "awesome."   And then, a solid 30-40 minutes when she didn't even bother to check up on us while we waited. ( I should add that there was a short line at the door most of the time but a solid 1/3 of the tables were empty.  I would think someone with a vested interest in this business would take note of this.)  Nor did our waitress, or anyone for that matter, move with any kind of alacrity.   I guess we were to be just happy we were in such a fab, neato spot.

The food arrived almost 100 minutes after our seating, and, as i said, it was perfectly fine.  I walked out of there 2 hours after i walked in, $20 lighter (for eggs, bacon and coffee?), and feeling like a chump.

Next time I'm in the mind of breakfast in that 'hood, I'll go around the block to the Cozy Corner and spend half as much for twice as much that's just as good (but maybe not as "inventive") and be out of there in 1/2 the time.

    It'll be awesome!

    FOOD:
Good food, friendly waitress, overall good experience. Unique brunch options.

    SHOWS/BAR:
Went back to see a show and witnessed some pretty awful service. Particularly the bartender, Dan, took 20 minutes to get some people (including myself) drinks, when there wasnt even a crowd at the bar. He was also extremely rude when he finally did go out of his way to "help" patrons. This experience alone makes me not want to go back.

    SUMMARY:
Go for brunch....and if you go for a show, expect a 50/50 chance of being talked to with respect.

I'm not one for negative reviews...but after coming here three times with the same issue every time, I just can't help myself. This place has the SLOOOWEST service ever. All three visits I have been the ONLY customer in the restaurant and it takes an HOUR + to get my food. I ordered starters, which came with my meal, not as an appetizer. I want to support a local small business but they need to get it together.

Township is a fun place to play a show. MP books this place, and it's my favorite of their venues. They do a nice job with sound, they've got a huge selection of beers (from fancy IPAs to cheap cans), and they bring lots of cool bands together. Every time I've been here, the bar tenders have been nice and the vibe's been friendly.

I do have a few criticisms though:

    1. It was gosh darn sweltering in there yesterday. More A/C. Please, please, please. It's hard to rock out in a sauna.

    2. They should host more free shows or shows with low covers. I know MP has to pay the sound guy and touring bands coming through. But when people don't pay a cover, they drink more. It's also a lot easier for a local band to bring friends on a Monday night if the show is free. And, I'm no expert, but I think that more bodies in the door = more drink/food sales = more profit for the bar. Right? Mutiny and Gallery Cabaret have both made 20+ year traditions of nothing but free shows; Empty Bottle has freebies a couple of times a week. Each of those places consistently draws a good crowd. So, that's my suggestion, FWIW.

    3. Fix the bathrooms. You are charging people $7 to get in the door. Leaky toilets that leave water all over the floor really won't do.

In any event, I like seeing music here, I like having some beers here, and I like playing here. This is a good spot.

I went here a few weeks ago to see a friend's band play. While I totally missed them, because of my tenuous grasp of latenight 'arrive on time' skills, I loved this place.

I think this place is sort of a place to eat now, but on this night it was Pancho's, a cardboard box of a punk rock club. And it rocked. It seemed cleared out for the SRO crowd, with a bunch of people who all knew each other. And I wanted to hang out with the cool crowd.

I'd go back. Cool place, good beer list. For live music, it's a great venue.

Holllllleeeeeyyyshiz the brunch is so good here. I *loved* Treat like crazy, so I was so excited to hear that the owners were opening up their new place 10 minutes away from my apartment. The Township brunch is very similar to the old menu and the cooks still kill it.

However, Township doesn't have that cozy, bright, cheerful feel that the Treat space had. At all.  If you are seated in the front area, it's fine. But the back "dining" room is large and awkward and heaven forbid you get seated along the bench at the back wall, because the tables will be up to your chin. Terrible for short people. I really don't get the flow of the place at all.

BUT, the food is outstanding. The coffee is great. Service is lovely. It's inexpensive.

The benedicts are amazing - the hollandaise! My steak was a little tough, but I can deal. The spinach they use is big old crinkly leafy spinach, not spinach in a bag spinach. Thank you! The spicy potatoes are wonderful.  Make sure you get the buttermilk pancakes with chevre and chai syrup. TO DIE. Our party of 6 ordered all savory dishes, so we got an order for the table and it disappeared in 4 seconds.

I hope they spiff this place up a bit, or utilize the back room a little better. Or something. Some paint?

    Seriously.

Great location, decent food, embarrassingly bad service...at least on the morning we were there for brunch. Our group of four waited at the front door for about five minutes before someone even acknowledged us (nope, there wasn't a line). One of us finally had to track down a server to ask if we could sit at the open four-top in the back. She told us to wait, and it took another 15 mintues or so before they actually brought us back to sit down. Confusing, because as I said, there was no line, and this table was open and clean.

The brunch food was good, though they are seriously lacking in "sweeter" brunch fare (some sort of berry french toast situation, perhaps, in addition to the many savory choices?).  But again, the servers were confused. Three different people stopped by our table, clearly not certain whose responsibility we were.  (Did I mention that there was no line?  And that the place was not full? Hence my confusion at their confusion.)

My husband's steak benedict came out very, very rare (rare as in, well, raw). He's not afraid of rare meat, but this was too much even for him. It took us a good 10 mintues to track down a server.  When my husband explained the problem, the server's response was, "Um, so what do you want me to do?" Uh, fix it? Please? The rest of us had finished eating by the time his food came back out.

Annoying as all these things were, perhaps the most annoying was the fact that our coffee was never once refilled/reheated (it's BRUNCH, people!!), and once our food came to the table we didn't see a server again.  (In addition to the aforementioned server flagging, for example, my friend had to go to the counter to get his own clean fork when his fell onto the floor.)

So. Try it out if you like. I'm all about supporting neighborhood joints. Just don't say you weren't warned if the cruddy service gets the better of you.

The folks at Township have really turned around what used to be a bit of a dump. I've only been to the bar side to see shows and completely approve of the little touches that have been made to modernize and clean up the venue. It seems cleaner and more streamlined. I still think the drinks are too expensive for what they are (a tiny gin and tonic should not be $7 when the Whistler down the street makes dynamite, fresh, strong cocktails for $8).
My friends told me the food was amazing, so I will have to go back during the daytime.
One last thing--why can't shows start at a decent hour? Starting at 10 or 11 with the headlining band going on after midnight or even 1am is just too late. Especially on a weeknight.

Love it! I was really sad when Treat closed and was wondering when the new restaurant would open. Thankfully this one is closer to my house and has a bar/music venue attached - nice! The restaurant itself is pretty spacious, doesn't quite have the charm of Treat, but I think they are still settling in. The food is still spot on; I've only been for brunch so far, but the menu is familiar: the saag paneer scramble is still there, french toast with chai syrup... etc. Yum. They serve booze - yay! And the beer list is pretty extensive. There was live jazz during brunch. Service was friendly. I left happy and full :)

Only reason it's not a 5 star review - CASH only (boo), and I was hoping for a bit of a change in the menu. The menu is very similar (if not almost identical) to Treat's menu, which while it is delicious, it doesn't seem innovative at this point. Overall Township is very welcome in Logan Square; I'm excited to come back for another meal and some live music!

Again, like some others.. the wait at Boiler Room was Kuma's-esque, so we tried out Township.

It's a cute storefront with simple amenities like tea lights and tap water sitting on each patron's table. The food (dinner and lunch) menu was a little scant, but the beer list was enormous. This makes sense as Township's sister is a music venue/bar next door.

My caprese panini was very tasty and plentiful, and easy on the wallet. Accompanied fries were par. The service was attentive, friendly and fast with our drink and food orders.  I'll come back for sure. I'd even have the same caprese sammie, but I'd like to see more options on the menu. But talking with my fiance, she got the impression that Township may be grooming itself as being more of a breakfast/brunch place as opposed to a dinner/late food/bar food place. To which I thought.. dang.. that makes a lot of sense.

So yes, the food was very good and fresh, the service is excellent. I know it's still very new, but some decor suggestions would be: window treatments, dimmer lighting, and some more personality. Township was 'Pancho's" in its former life, but unfortunately, the ghost of Pancho's decor hasn't completely disappeared. But maybe that's the owners' intention. Who knows?

So anyway.. instead of falling back on Township, if Boiler Room is crowded, make it a destination.

Yay for being down the street, serving Dark Matter coffee and having an interesting menu worth checking out again. It's a restaurant I really want to like more, but based on this first go round, can't give more than 3 stars.

Not so yay for kinda bland food (saag paneer scramble: under seasoned, pooris that had a lovely texture, but again, lacked flavor, but the Indian inspired potatoes were pretty good).

Service seemed...a bit indifferent? While I got my coffee refill(s) and we were checked in on, there was a general lack of warmness.

I'm hoping to go back, either solo or with another person to give some of their other food a try and perhaps come in for a different meal (i.e. lunch or dinner).

Really want this place to thrive and succeed given the location and having missed out on experiencing Treat.

I love Township, both the bar AND the restaurant. Here's why:
-A group of about 7 of us showed up for brunch on the very first day it opened, without a reservation, about an hour before closing, and although they were completely packed, they sat us (and were amazingly sweet about it). The service wasn't perfect, seeing as they were VERY busy/it was their first day/we showed up just before their kitchen closed, but we had a great time nonetheless AND the food was amazing. I had the chickpea pancakes with the poached eggs- so good! The bloody marys were delicious as well.
-I've gone in a few times after work to buy the famous fish sandwich... believe the hype. It's delicious and cheap.

Finally: One Sunday morning, on my way to work, I was in desperate need of coffee and I looked into Township's window. They weren't open yet, but the nice ladies inside let me in and made me a latte, despite the fact that they weren't even open yet. They were very sweet- they listened to me complain about having to go in to work on 3 hours of sleep. I was terribly hungover and, had it not been for the latte, I probably would have had a terrible day at work. The next time I stopped in for coffee, the nice girl behind the counter even asked me how my day went; she remembered me!

All in all, it's a great place and I'm happy to live around the corner from it. My only suggestion is to keep working on them milk foamin' skills... I know it's not a coffee shop, but if they're going to serve Dark Matter coffee, they should be able to make that perfect latte microfoam (I know I sound like a snob... I am).

Hit Township this morning for breakfast. Pass this corner twice everyday, and now I know I'll be stopping in on a regular basis.

There are a lot of places in the area that do brunch, but many of them don't open until 11 or so. My parents are visiting and they don't wait that late to eat, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that Township is not only within walking distance of my place, but opens for brunch at 9 on Saturday and Sunday.

Service was excellent. We were seated right away, were able to order coffee before we even sat down. The coffee, by the way, is Dark Matter. This didn't mean anything to me before this morning, but now I know it's amazing. The waitress was helpful and somewhat bubbly without being overbearing.

The menu isn't large, but everything on it seems to be well thought-out. I could see myself ordering pretty much anything. Between the three of us, we had the crimini benedict, salmon benedict, and the bacon, tomato, and onion omelet. The portion sizes were just right, and everything was delicious. The hollandaise on the benedicts had a depth of flavor beyond any other hollandaise I've had. The omelet was chock full of bacon and the benedicts had plenty of salmon and mushrooms. Plus the potato cakes that came with each dish were tasty and a nice diversion from the typical hash brown/homefry breakfast potato choices.

I will DEFINITELY be back for brunch, and I'm already planning a stop here for dinner, too.

    Come prepared: it's cash only.

Tamiz is back! The master from Treat has opened a new place and his food is as delicious as ever.

Brunch is excellent. Dinner, awesome. Beer list is top notch. The place is brand new and, allegedly, they "are still working out kinks", but you could have fooled me. I am so excited to have a new, unpretentious place in the neighborhood where quality and value aren't mutually exclusive, and the service is warm and inviting.

    Consider me a regular.

    I love this place.
For anyone that says "I miss Panchos!!!!" - go down the street to Ronny's.
This is basically the same as Panchos with WAY better beer, WAY better food, and it's not a complete eyesore like it used to be.

Don't get me wrong - I loved it when it was Panchos, but come on... please don't be nostalgic for nostalgia's sake. Panchos wasn't the Fireside so please stop treating it like it was.

Panchos was always empty before these guys came in and breathed life into it. Pancho himself is a hell of a dude and he cracks me up, but I couldn't be happier with the new direction.

I had brunch here a few weeks ago and it was killer.
I really like having more beer options than "Well... we have High Life..."

The bar is CASH ONLY, and I'm alright with that. Just plan ahead... or do what I do and step over to Boiler Room to use their ATM and get a free shot of Jameson, then come back to Township with your cash and some fire in your chest.

    5 stars.

Went here for brunch this morning and it hit the spot.  Lots of vegetarian selections (at least for brunch) and 1 maybe 2 vegan options.  I had the chorizo (Uptons) scramble and my husband had the herb omelot.  Both were great.  Both came with an indian flavored potato cake thing that was delicious.  Servings were generous.  Liked the Dark Matter coffee.  We were too early for breakfast cocktails, so we will have to go back.

Comfortable environment, chill music playing, friendly, prompt service.  Think they are still working out a few kinks, but nothing worth mentioning.  We will definitely go back for brunch again.

Lunch menu looked good, but not too much vegetarian.  Samosas  I think were the only item.  Might be wrong about that.

I'm sorry to do this....but...I won't give it one star because it's a new bar....I can't give it more than two because I did not have a good experience.

I walked in around 8:30 pm 2/4. Boiler Room was crazy and I noticed that Panchos was not really Panchos anymore.

When I walked in there were about 5 people in the bar, the bartender was in the middle of a story with a patron and was not bothered to shoot us a Hello or acknowledgement that we walked in. I looked around and saw a stage and sound system....which i thought was pretty cool...

We waited and got the menu than id....We ordered two beers and I asked to open a tab...
He said they do not take credit cards. I then responded with if it was possible to hold my credit card and ID so  we could pay right before we left (for collateral) he then responded with "We don't do tabs." oooooook.    I paid cash and left his tip where he circled back to his buddy and I clearly heard his buddy as what we were discussing where he then stated again..."ya know we don't do tabs here...it's not that kind of bar."

What kind of bar? A bar with a credit card machine and manners? We then were approached by a blond girl in a ponytail who seemed frantic....I over heard her saying she has not heard from the band that was going to play and she was trying to get in contact with them....With that said she then approaches me and says "are you here for the concert?" I responded "No we have a big party and we were supposed to go to boiler room but it's too crowded" She then says " oh...well it's ok you don't have to pay."

I'd assume that because there were 5 people in the bar and NO BAND I wouldn't have to pay....NUTS....the attitudes in there were crazy! such a weird uncomfortable vibe!

OHHHHH icing on the cake...they serve food. woman brings out two plates...I believe by the time the woman brought the plates out she forgot what was what..... THE BARTENDER LIFTS THE BREAD WITH HIS HANDS TO TAKE A PEAK.....I gasped I couldn't believe it....I'm not even sure if they noticed that I saw everything....I had to get out of there asap...

Listen here Township....I don't know if I'll be back....but being a new bar I'd expect a welcoming attitude....I think my experience deserves ONE STAR.....i'm giving you an extra one because I'm not trying to be a jerk....but....eh me thinks not.

A pretty solid pretty welcome restaurant, from the people who brought us Treat (RIP), still featuring the Indian-spiced fusion items.

It is very vegetarian functional and offers enough vegan items (somewhat confusingly labeled as "can be made vegan," so do check if you care) to make a mark. I'd appreciate some sort of possible vegetarian add-on, as all the brunch sides are meat.

The do offer beer and cocktails.  The brunch cocktails are overpriced ($8 for a beer-mosa is a bit much for a quarter of a beer and a couple ounces of OJ). Beer offerings are solid, though. Good coffee.

The decor is much as Treat, a largely unimproved space with some bright colors and young-person arts on the wall. The windows are South facing and the sun was a little rough on the eyes.

Our food was excellent, hearty and well thought out.

Service is ehhhh. There was a piece of metal (foil or something, tiny but clearly metal) on my food, I noted this to waitress, who didn't care/do anything/offer anything, as one might expect if there is metal in your food. An honest mistake from the kitchen I hope, and could have been easily resolved through better service -- a free beer-mosa, at almost no cost to the restaurant, maybe, or dessert. It's the offer of resolution and perception of caring that matters more than the actual details of the resolution.

Anyway, it's a new place.  Looks like they'll have music (jazz) and dinner as well. I think they'll tighten up a bit and this will be one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. Will be back soon, no doubt.
