This is a place you could easily drive past on the way to some chain burger place...and that, my friends, would be a monumental mistake!

Took a customer there for lunch today (his choice) and had an absolutely amazing meal!  I ordered the 1/3 lb bison burger because I just didn't have the whole afternoon to spend digesting a 1/2 lb burger this time around.  It was medium rare (as promised) and really, really good.  So good, in fact, that I had a hard time believing that it was as nutritious as its billing on the menu.  Given that the place has been around for about a hundred years I will defer to their description and call it a very healthy alternative to a gut-bomb...did I mention yet that it was really, really, good?!?

The seasoned fries were good as well but what stole the show on the side dish was the cup of bbq sauce that the waitress willingly brought me to dip into.  It was bold, smoky and my mouth is watering just thinking about it.  As good as it was though, not a drop made its way onto my burger.  Did I mention that the burger was really, really good?!?

Like their sign says, "Where the beer and the bison burgers roam".  TS, knows how to serve up a ice cold beer and they truly know how to grill a bison burger. I've had bison at several bars here in the Lou and Trainwreck does it best. They understand the importance of making a bison burger rare to medium rare. Nothing ruins a burger quicker then over cooking it and so many other bars cook them like a regular burger.
Their long, crispy, slender seasoned fries are the perfect accompaniment to these burgers.

I wish they offered their chicken wings during lunch, but due to their popularity and the small kitchen they do not offer them during lunch. If you want to experience the wings, be sure to arrive after 2:30PM.  However, for those who have ice tea at lunch time, they offer all three of the major artificial sweeteners in addition to the real thing.

When you dine at Trainwreck Saloon, be sure to sign up for Telugo. It is a virtual punch card for your smart phone.  After you have paid your bill, they'll scan the QR Bar Code at the bar and after 10 scans, your 11th lunch is free.

We've been before,  and I was not moved enough to even write a review,  it's like being assigned home work that will neither be counted or even graded.  Apathy,  I think is as bad a statement as an acidic review.

Well today,  being more health conscious as we are now,  we decided to have bison burgers, famously low in fat, that we had never had here before.  Those of you that have read my Mai Lee review will understand that this is where we went after our outrageous assault by the Yakuza!

Rare to medium rare is the only way to have a bison burger and they nail it to the wall!  Perfect and I ate every bite of it on it's whole wheat bun!  I will now acknowledge that when we arrived at the butt end of lunch, I was a little testy due to our fresh experience at the Hanoi Hilton (Mai Lee) and the fact that my blood sugar was going into def-con 4. Our waitress was a true professional and handled me kindly,  and yes I am not proud!

I do wish that they would seek a SBA loan to redo the kitchen and offer hot wings at lunch but so long as they do that exquisite perfect  bison burger I'll be content , and grateful for not being water boarded!

Our very "admin" waitress was Amanda!  Amanda you are here by declared "wait person of the week"  for going above and beyond the call of duty to triage the wounded that did not even come from your battle field!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been going to the Trainwreck in Rock Hill since the early 90s, and it's my favorite lunch spot ever. You just can't go wrong with a Brakeman's basket a beer.  Go for the triple-cheese and the seasoned fries. The food is good, plentiful and inexpensive. The decor is fun, and the staff is friendly.

I was there on a weekend in the late 90s and met Bret Hull..well, it was crowded, and I accidentally ran into him without realizing who it was afterward. Everyone knows it's a great place - you never know who you might meet!

Consistent , reliable bar food in a great location. Grabbing dinner there first week of December 2012, I had wings and bison burger with the crew. I guess the new issue for us is the balance of diners with younger kids and the new shuffleboard device, that spans the front bar area. I support local business all the way, but this addition seems well intoned but a fail. First, in dinner hour, folks awaiting seating with hungry kids, gravitated to the table game. And as it sits very low, and runs the entire west wall almost, it's a total magnet for the kids. And if I was a weary parent with kids in tow, I would let the, throw the puck and woop it up. But, with Six and ten year olds screaming as we ate, and no other tables ready..we were trapped. The table is nice I suppose but if I was hoping to draw patrons and maximize revenue, I would weigh out the lost seating and the minimal cash flow such a huge device might generate. I can't believe the servers recoup much tip income from the lost seats that vanished with this addition. That and a very hearty air conditioner that blows over the front bar tables and diners, means we will seriously debate a night time return. Overall the foods really good, the servers are prompt and friendly and I am torn on the need for the shuffleboard.,not sure who they expect to sit adjacent to frenzied kids, and arctic air in December...I guess my mistake for skipping a hooded sweatshirt and earplugs.. But these minor matters are easily adjusted if the management ever gets serious about details and acoustics. One star for front bar ambience...but get the bison ...and a cold beer ..and sit way away from the babysitting crowd...actually..now that I think about it..our other time in the way back was derailed with screaming kids and too many balloons...again..this is an imperfect world..and I support parents and businesses...ugh.. Can they put vodka in kiddy cocktails after dark?.

I have never had a bad experience here.  In fact, I haven't even had a mediocre experience at the Trainwreck,

I absolutely love the bison burger, especially with the pub cheese.  Don't even get me started on the fries.  The Trainwreck might have some of the best fries in the city.

The food and beer are priced reasonably and I appreciate that they have a relatively good selection of draft beers.

    Service here is great!

Best thing was the Bison Burger.
Second was the excellent service. The wait staff stayed on top of our orders and drinks, even with 7 adults and one toddler.

The bison burgers are their 'house' burger. Served medium to medium rare, I found the meat was cooked perfectly and the burger well presented.

Two other folks ordered bison burgers and were pleased as well.

The house made potato salad was tasty and a decent size portion.

Don't let the location fool you. There is enough parking for a decent crowd and nearby street parking as well.

Prices are above average for a burger combo but will say, being my second visit, the service and quality are consistently good.

Would like to see slightly cheaper pricing.

Disclamer:  I used to work at this fine establishment.  That does not however, impact my true feelings for this place.

I love it here.  The food is consistently tasty, the service is great, it is VERY clean (in the dining room, bathrooms, and especially in the kitchen) and the location is very convenient.  Often times, you hear horror stories of servers never wanting to eat food from the kitchen of their workplace.  In this instance, that couldn't be further from the truth.  Even though my days of serving bison burgers to the masses are over, I still stop in at least once every other week to sit down, have a drink, and watch whatever game is on TV.

The burgers at the Trainwreck are to die for.  Always juicy and flavorful, they go perfectly with the seasoned fries that are typically served in the burger baskets.  If you're not in the mood for seasoned fries, no problem.  They offer a plethora of sides, including sweet potato fries! The wings are delicious (caution: they toss them in Frank's Red Hot, so they have a kick to them), the salads are fresh, and at 150 calories and 3.5 grams of fat per serving, the bison burger is a great tasting, healthy alternative to traditional ground beef.

If you're looking to have a truly great dining experience, stop in on a Wednesday night.  Joe, the bartender, is the best.  He's always good for a little witty commentary about whatever sporting event is on TV.

This place is truly like Cheers; everyone knows your name, they're glad to see you, and when you're finished eating your quick lunch or drinking until the end of the Cardinal game, they know they'll see you again soon.

The Trainwreck is our regular go to neighborhood bar. What is great about it besides the fact that I can walk to it from my house in less than 5 minutes? The patio/bar/gazebo/TVs out back, and their food.

Be sure to try their bison burger. Much healthier for you and does the job when I am craving a juicy burger. Their bison burger is so tasty that I could not tell you the difference in flavor between beef and bison. Their other menu choices have never disappointed either.

Beers are pretty cheap and they do have specials depending on the day and time. Check their website for details. They have a nice variety of beers on tap that includes local brews such as Crowne Valley Brewery beers (which are awesome). That's the first time I have seen CVB beer on tap in STL. Loving the local brewery support here!

The only negative about Trainwreck is the spotty service. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it is not so good. The poor service usually occurs with a certain server we often have, but she is sweet (just always looks confused and is pretty forgetful).

My favorite part about Trainwreck is sitting outside on the patio. They have an awesome outdoor bar made out of a train caboose, plenty of tables, and a gazebo equipped with TVs and a fan. This place is perfect for my favorite pastime...outdoor drinking. See you many times this summer Trainwreck!

A group of about 10-12 decided to try this place for happy hour.  Several of the people in our party were smokers so we sat outside in the unseasonably warm weather.  It was spitting rain, but there was a roofed gazebo we were sitting under so no worries.  The smokers would go out of the gazebo to smoke as they were told this was the rule.

The waitress was just, off, somehow.  She wasn't very friendly and seemed overwhelmed and confused by simple requests like, "Can I see a menu?"

About 30 minutes in, she came out and said the forecast was calling for storms and lightening and would we mind moving inside, but we didn't have to hurry, we could finish eating.  Several of us had ordered food and about half of us were eating under the covered gazebo.  We said, no problem, and continued on.

About 10 minutes later as we were finishing up, she came out again and said she was getting off her shift and did we want to close out with her or transfer our tickets to another server?  We all said we would close out so that she could get the tip money.

She split our bill up, ran our cards and brought them back.  During this time, she also delivered another food order to us outside.

By this time, the sky is clearing and looking like the weather had passed by.
Another 10 minutes go by and she says, "My manger is about to come out here and be really rude to you if you don't go inside."

We responded by saying, "If that's his plan, then that's a really bad idea."

She went back in and immediately the male manager/bartender came out and YELLED, "You have to come inside now, our insurance won't cover you being out here."  He was incredibly rude.  Since we had all just closed our original tabs anyway, we all left and went to another bar.

I will never go back.  The wings were overcooked and salty (the trainwreck style wings) and the service went from being sub-par to just flat out rude.

There are a thousand different ways to handle this, the easiest would have been when that last food order was up, the waitress (or whoever our new server was going to be) could have said, "Would you like me to get a table set up for you guys inside for when your food comes out? "

With a group of 10-12, a little assistance figuring out where to relocate would have made everyone's life a lot easier.  Instead they lost a group of folks who are looking for a new happy hour venue, spend lots of $$, and drink all evening.  To top it all off,  most of us are former service industry folks.  Dumb.

I hit up Trainwreck for lunch with some locals. It is a typical sports/dive bar in quality and atmosphere. If you've ever been to a place with a neon Bud Light sign, then you've probably been here.

The food was decent, and the service was tolerable... but I couldn't get past the grungy look of everything, like a place that had been smoked in for years. I'm not saying my trip was bad, just that it wasn't memorable by any stretch of the imagination.

I have to say, I used to like the Trainwreck better, but it's still worth a visit - especially if you're in the mood for a bison burger.

So the Trainwreck has many good qualities - decent frontroom - the tall tables in the corners are my favorite places to sit during the cold weather (they fill up pretty fast at lunch, though - be prepared to wait), and the patio out back is even better.  There's an enormous bison head on the wall behind the bar when you walk in, which is typically decorated to reflect the season (Santa hat, shamrocks, cobwebs, etc) and a toy train runs a circular track up above the main dining area, which is cute.  But really, who doesn't love sitting in a gazebo at a picnic table while munching on a great burger in the spring and summer, I ask you?

The food's also good.  If you're in the mood for a good old fashioned burger, or slightly hipper bison burger (my personal fave - it makes me feel healthier since the bison's low in fat and farm raised on local Sayersbrook Bison Ranch in Potosi), this should be your go to place.  Best burgers in St. Louis, in my opinion.  The fries are made fresh all the time and you can order them "clean" or "dirty" (secret seasoning - which is pretty awesome).

There are a few downsides, however - service isn't always the most prompt or the most friendly, and sometimes, since everything's served together in baskets food juices can co-mingle and get a little soggy.  And finally, the front room can get really crowded (especially during the weekend), so be prepared to wait during peak dining times.

But if you're hankering for a burger, there's none better.

I have been to the Westport location & was happy with the bison burger that I went to Sayersbrook Farms myself & bought ground bison from them.  I came to this location with Cherie O. for lunch yesterday, & I decided to try a charbroiled chicken sandwich.  I loved it!  This time, I got the regular seasoned fries instead of the sweet potato fries.  The fries were seasoned well!  Not tooo salty, just perfect!  I loved the kooky ambience (the stuffed mounted bison head with a Santa hat & the huge plasticish replica of a bison outside)!  The service was speedy & quite good.

I really don't like this location and go when absolutely necessary. The staff in the bar area seem friendly to a point. The food is ok. I got really sick on the wings. I don't know what the fuss is all about regarding the Trainwreck saloons, but I'm not a fan.

The menu is typical and nothing stands out, nor that little extra special something for another star.

I recently moved to Rock Hill and live within walking distance to the Trainwreck. This may prove to be dangerous but I have to admit I am excited.

Is this place cool/hip? No. It is not meant to be. So if that is what you're looking for don't go here. But if you're looking for a kind of old school bar this is your joint.

It isn't a sports bar but they have nice flat-screen TVs and show games, and for big games like last night's Game 4 of Cards v. Phillies NLDS series, they will turn on the sound.

They offer a decent draft beer selection and the food is good. I haven't sat on the patio yet but it looks nice. A great place for  casual dinner/drinks.

And the service staff is wonderful, very friendly and attentive.

Visiting from Southern California, this place was awesome! With mouth watering bison burgers, their burgers were tasty! With high quality ingredients, I loved the toasted raviolis. The ambiance of an old saloon was one of a kind. Stopping in for lunch, this placed seemed less crowded  as it should be during lunch hours. Glad to have experienced the Trainwreck Saloon while visiting MO.

This place always seems less crowded than it should be.

They've got a fantastic patio bar and dining area, wide open space with a gazebo of tables.  We've never had to wait, check that we've never had to even be told where to sit.

Service is always prompt and the menu is a bar food plus (so standard pub fare plus some unique items).  The bison burger is delicious, and the chili is well above average for a bar.

Drink specials are good and the servers are always friendly.  It's very similar to it's other location in westport, but a lot less crowded.  Prices are average and the atmosphere is aways casual.  Overall a solid location.

Having just landed from a flight, my colleagues and I were looking for a place to eat around 8pm .

Located in the Westport Plaza is the this bar/restaurant. First the size and layout is excellent with plenty of room at all tables and televisions at every angle for the sports fan.

The bar is quite extensive and has a great variety of beers on tap, both local and imported. (This is where Budweiser is from, so the selection was a nice option).

We all ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs with onion rings as the appetizer. First the onion rings are huge. Six of them stacked are about a foot tall. So that is a meal in itself. For the ribs, they were an excellent balance of bbq flavor with charcoal grilling. The preparation was flawless and the portions generous.

Lastly, the pricing was amazing, for 3 people with drinks, it was a $46 bill. Excellent for a family dinner location.

I went for lunch on a weekday.  I ordered a cheeseburger and fries.  The fries were delicious and hot, but my cheeseburger was raw.  I ripped the burger in half to check it and it was only cooked on the surface and around the edges.  The waitress took the cheeseburger back to the kitchen and they cooked the same hamburger longer.  It came out on a new bun, but it was the same meat.  The cheeseburger should have been tossed and a new one cooked instead.  Contamination issue.  Also, I received no reduction in my bill or a freebie.  The waitress didn't even blink (guess this happens a lot?).  I know I won't return.

I drive past this place pretty often, and one night we finally decided to stop in.

On Stephanie S.'s suggestion, we ordered the wreck wings to start - they were tasty, but a little salty, and I usually prefer saucy wings.

The boyfriend ordered a burger (pretty tasty), and I ordered their fried fish. I'm somewhat of a fish fry snob, growing up in Milwaukee (where the fish fry is an every Friday thing, not just during lent). Their fish was pretty meh - definitely frozen into perfect little triangles, with a batter much too thick.

The sweet potato and regular fries were tasty though, as was the coleslaw that came with the fish (and I usually hate coleslaw).

Our waitress was an absolute sweetheart, I can't speak for the others.

Not "hip" or "trendy" in any way, but definitely a place my parents would probably like, with good old fashioned bar food.

This place really is hit or miss for me...as you can tell by my previous reviews ranging from 2 to 4 stars. Last night was another sub-par experience.

We arrived late... around 9:35. I quickly asked the bartender if the kitchen was still open. It was... until 10. Understanding that I was cutting it close, I ordered food right away, and tried to select something that was easy to prepare. I ordered a Cobb salad without bacon. After ordering the food, I asked for a bourbon and diet and a PBR.

I was served a Caesar salad (I think... it was lettuce and croutons with Caesar dressing on the side), a bourbon & 7, and a PBR draft. In baseball 1 for 3 is ok. It is not adequate in the service industry.

I didn't complain as I was hungry and at this time the kitchen was 5 minutes from closing. 7 instead of diet wasn't that big a deal. I can easily get through it. Either way, I ordered a few more drinks and they came out correctly thereafter.

I checked their website before visiting and it says that Tuesday nights are $2 well drinks and $1.50 PBR pints. I was charged $2 for my bourbon drinks but I was charged full price for my PBRs. It wasn't a big deal. I only had two. But I did bring it up to the bartender and a server who was now drinking at the bar after her shift. They both acted like they had never heard of the special. They said that it was probably a Westport special. It wasn't. The website clearly partitions the Rock Hill and Westport section. I showed them their own website on my phone. They seemed disinterested with no apologies, explanations, or bill adjustments.

Again... saving a couple of bucks isn't that important. But after a screwed up food order and a missed drink order, I was at my wits end. I really can't stand when a staff doesn't even know what specials are on their own website. Come on management, keep your staff informed. It's as simple as printing out the special page and putting it by the register. Even more discouraging is a staff that could care less when someone brings up an issue.

Oh well. Next time I want to go to a neighborhood bar, it'll be Webers, or Llywelyn's or somewhere else that gives a shit.

This is one of our regular favorites.  This location in Rock Hill has a great outdoor patio area w/ an outdoor bar made out of a caboose.  The inside has a train theme as well.

For appetizers, the zucchini sticks are our favorite.  For only $5.99, you get plenty with yummy marinara for dipping.

My husband always gets the Wreck Wings that come with blue cheese or ranch.  They are flash fried, and he prefers them to the usual dripping with sauce type of wings.

My usual is the Bison Burger Basket.  The bison is lean and tasty - only 150 calories.  I normally prefer my steaks medium and my burgers medium well, but the fact that the bison is normally served medium rare doesn't bother me one bit.  It always comes out perfect.  I get mine with the soft cheddar although there are other cheese choices.  To make this sandwich a basket, I get their seasoned fries.  They give you tons and these particular kind of fries are perfect with the right mixture of ketchup and mayo if you like trying that sort of thing.

Aside of that, everyone is nice.  There are several TVs around the indoor and outdoor to watch the games.  There are daily specials and a well-stocked bar.

When driving by this place I was not impressed.  Thought the just tried to be a red train depot and slap saloon on the front.

When I walked in it looked like and is more restaurant with a loose saloon theme.  I had lunch here and just remember the sweet potato fries being really good.

During a nice day I went to the back of the bar and saw the patio.  Nice.  The food is good, but the back patio bar makes this place cool.

They took a caboose car and made a bar out of it!  I liked the theme now.  Nothing like drinking a brew while feeling kinda like a kid.

Just driving by never did this place justice.

For bar food, a home run! Based on many experiences, I can wholeheartedly recommend! The burgers are great, but I love the honey Dijon chicken and sweet potato fries. Just ridiculous. Esp. nice on a patio kind of day! Omg-almost forgot the crazy good wings. Wreck (dry) or honey barbecue amazing, and I'm not a fan of wings. Update 2/21/10: trainwreck is pretty kid-unfriendly. And I mean actively unfriendly.   Kind of a bummer.

I loved this place. My friend and I rolled in on Christmas night to watch a game and take in the local scene. Our bartender, Jason, was so cool. He put the game on and since we arrived by taxi, encouraged our rowdiness and desire to have plenty of drinks. We didn't try any food because the kitchen was closed, but this little place was rocking by the time we left, full of people and a lot of fun. So if you visit the Trainwreck, and Jason is bartending, be sure to hollar "Sheeva!" and tell him the wild visiting Charger fan sent you.

I love this place. LOVE. Well...not the atmosphere, but the food. The food is GOOD.

For an appetizer, you definitely have to try the wreck wings. There's no sauce on them, but they're seasoned so perfectly, and they're so delicious and juicy. YUM.

The food here is nothing to write home about, but it's decent bar food, and I'm not going to complain.

Why the glowing review, then? THEY HAVE SWEET POTATO FRIES. There should be a new rule that requires all restaurants to have sweet potato fries. Yes. They are so good and crispy, and dipped in barbecue sauce, it's like heaven on earth.

Minus one star because they allow smoking inside. Initiate an indoor smoking ban already, St. Louis. Seriously.

real cool bar. went tonite (Wednesday) nite. this was the only bar busy in all of westpoint village.

just had beer (PBR on tap!!), so can't vouch for the mixed drinks.

band was pretty good, played some dope covers by STP, Def Leppard, Jack Johnson....and Neil Diamond!!!

we'll be back. should mention, that as we were leaving, Pujols (yes, owned by Albert Pujols of the Cardinals), Ozzie's (also of Cardinal fame) and the other bars were EMPTY.

Trainwreck is definitely the place to be at Westpoint, even during the week.

I always have a good time when I come to this bar.  I might not have a totally memorable time, but always ALWAYS a good time.  Especially if the patio is open for hanging out.

The fries at this place are killer.  As a vegetarian, I have sampled what seems like most of the fries at most of the bars in the St. Louis area, and I'm telling you, these are some of the best.  Other than the fries, they of course have a decent beer selection (not an amazing beer selection but good enough), they make pretty good mixed drinks, it's not painfully expensive, and quite frankly, the atmosphere is relaxed and just kind of nice to hang out in.  I never feel like I am being ogled, and I can actually come here to enjoy the Cardinals (Blues, Rams, etc) game, have a conversation with my friends, have a few drinks, and go home happy.

Great patio here!  This is by train tracks which is a rarity in St. Louis, hence the name.  It's a little bar that's been there forever.  I really like the french fries and of course a cold beer while I'm watching a Cardinals game.  If it's night time, you gotta go on the patio.  It's also is open at lunch time, so if you can play hooky from work and enjoy a few brews, go for it!

Warning for all you not familiar with St. Louis, it is Anheuser Busch country.  Every bar has Bud Light, Bud, Michelob, etc.  but they might not have Miller products!
