We came here last fall at the recommendation of a girl at our hotel. Â I am really glad we did. Â We loved the food and the ambiance. Â We live in the Twin Cities and this meal in the same type of eatery would have been probably double the price. Â
I give this place a 5 because it is unique and we will for sure go back again. Â Our server (cannot remember his name) was very arrogant though. Â We made fun of him the entire time he was waiting on us. Â A gal came over to clear our plates and she was awesome, so I think this is not the norm at Tycoons and downstairs as well. Â
If you are here, you also need to check out the downstairs. Â It is awesome. Â Eat upstairs and then have a drink or dessert downstairs.
Dinner time! Â but first, let's sample some Fitger's brews!
We sampled 3 beers at the Alehouse. Â By far the tastiest was the Apricot Wheat. Â The apricot flavor stood out as a clean after taste to finish each sip. Â It was smooth and way too drinkable. Â
The Apricot Wheat also went well with the Fish and chips I ordered. Â The fish was a couple of nice sized chunks of fillet that were nicely breaded and crispy. Â My mouth is watering just thinking of that meal, it was cooked to perfection. Â The chips were potato wedges. Â These were also nice and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Â I have a new appreciation for fish and chips after that meal. Â
One of the highlights of our visit was going into the elevator and pressing the -1 floor button. Â The doors opened up into the old jail/speak-easy. Â It has a historic feel to it and made for a great environment and discussion through the night.
