Union Pizzeria

Starting with the positives - lively and fun atmosphere, creative cocktails, strong beer list, crispy crust on generously sized pizzas - Union makes for a decent GNO.  The wait on a Thursday night was pretty long, with empty tables taunting us.  We squeezed into the bar area, ordering margaritas while we waited.  As we waited, our hunger multiplied, so we had an appetizer pizza.  Our second order of margaritas came out as two Margherita pizzas, which explained why we had empty glasses for so long.  Our server apologized profusely, and we finally were sat for dinner in the back near the bathrooms (boo).  We went family style with mac and cheese, potato rosemary, four cheese, shrimp/bacon/pineapple, and the Greek special - feta/red onion/olives/spinach/bechamel.  I'm more of a deep dish girl, but thought that Union put on a nice show.

This place was great! Great drink list, great pizza. Bruchetta appetizer was delicious. Loved the ambiance and service. Will be back!

Had this place with its adjoining live music venue been there when I lived in Evanston I may not have moved back into Chicago!  The only thing I really don't like about Union is the word "Pizzeria" in the name. Such a misnomer for this hip, swanky, lounge-y, mid-century modern furnished restaurant with SO MUCH MORE on its menu than pizza...though the pizzas are GREAT!
