I don't know why I've never reveiewed this bar before but I guess now is as good of a time as ever. Â If you're a dance-bunny, S&M Freaque (standing & modeling), twinky-diva, Club San Francisco type ... you probably won't enjoy the View. Â Although one can never tell what kind of crowd will be there the general rule is ... friendly, neighborhood, comfortable, homey, down-to-Earth. Â There are times when it can be very interesting here but not a cruise-bar by any means. Â It can get loud and noisy on a dart night (Tuesdays and Thursdays they have league darts from about February to June and September to December), on Fridays, occasionally on Saturdays and Sundays are good for dart tournaments or the Chiefs games. Â I've been coming here since 1985 and it has the same owner although one of them passed away a few years ago. Â It's the oldest gay bar in Kansas City right now. Â It isn't hard to find but it doesn't sit on a main drag either. Â Call for directions if you're not familiar with KCK. Â The neighborhood is safe, clean and close to I-70. There are periodic (about 4 or 5 times a year) drag shows to benefit KC Free Health Clinic, MGRA and Darts of Missouri. Â It's always a good time here and people are easy to get to know. Â Drink prices are very reasonable but like someone said, don't expect anything ultra fancy. Â There is dinner served generally on Friday nights averageing about $8-$10 and tacos have been available lately on Sundays. Â Age range is usually from 30s upwards, mostly men but women frequent the joint and there can be quite a few of them from time-to-time. Â Listen, this is about as good as it gets for little, neighborhood gaybars in the Midwest. Â Nice to know we have one or two. Â If you're looking for a place to relax, bring your friends, have reasonably priced drinks in a friendly crowd with all kinds of different music...come down to the View. Â You won't regret it. Â BTW, the View is closed on Mondays.
