Attended a private party. Service from the bouncers at the door, wait service, and bartenders were on point. Would have been three stars, but one was removed because of the bathroom. It is outside the club, all the way down the hall, and around the corner. I can't imagine the intoxicated patrons on an open club night finding there was back to the club after that journey.
Review Source:Didn't really care for the vibe in this club, and the music was just okay. It's weird because the bathrooms are so far away from the club! And it was really odd, instead of air conditioning there were a lot of air fans of the floor to circulate the air. Maybe air con has been installed since then, well hopefully?
Review Source:What the french toast!!! Â I decided to check this place out when it first opened. Â It seems to have the old Oceans crowd...The interior was nice, with a couple of big bars, and a spacious dancefloor. Â Not much people were dancing the night that I went, but were rather hanging around by the bars. Â I'm not sure if it's because of the location at Aloha Tower, but there wasn't much of a crowd here because I went on a Friday night. Â However, I heard that it does get crowded on Saturday nights...
The Villa is a good place to go to if you don't like to be stuffed amongst people. Â It's very spacious and can hold a large amount of people, bigger than most clubs I've been to. Â Only negative thing about this place is that there aren't any bathrooms inside of the club. Â You have to walk outside of the club to the Aloha Tower bathrooms, then go back inside of the club.
The Villa was a nice place to have a graduation party. Â Very roomy, nice workers. The only thing the beer was warm when the party started, wish the drinks would've been cheaper. Too bad the restrooms wasn't closer and cooler, it felt like we was in a sauna. Â Overall I enjoyed myself.
Review Source:What the heck?
I read all the reviews and I can't believe I stepped in the same club as them. Yes, the club is nice, lots of room and huge dance floor.
After getting past the 4 bouncers, Â we walked into the club to find 20 people....or less....--_-- Â Needless to say, we left.
Saturday nigths at the Villa is NOT the place to be. Lucky there was no charge for parking and no cover fee because I would have been mad.
I came here when it first started poppin' as a club. Â It was pretty good I would say. Â What I like about it is the spaciouness of the dance floor. Â They pretty much have a dance floor barricaded which are surrounded by bouncers and what not. Â The bouncers are pretty cool. Â You can reserve tables if you have a party or what not. Â The staff and customer service is pretty good. Â They always check up on you if you want a drink and consistently keep the tables and area clean in general by throwing away the bottles from you once you are finish with your drank. Â They also have music videos playing around the dance floor. Â Most of the time it doesn't match with what the DJ is playing. Â Most recent visit was with Wonderland Entertainment playing on the 1s and 2s. Â They only played techno and dubstep. Â People where kinda getting tired of it but didn't stop them from raving and shuffling. Â You can also rent out the Villa for whatever event you want to plan. Â I went over one for a 1920s Vegas Style Casino Night which was fun. Â People got to dress up and play some casino games for free and for fun. Â There was food and entertainment. Â The club is located on the 2nd floor of the Aloha Tower Marketplace. Â I think it was another club before the Villa but I forget.
Yelp 365 Challenge #301/365
I walked up to the cashier cuz there was no line at 11 on Friday and asked how much for cover... The girl said 10. So instead I waited for my friends to arrive so we can group up. They ordered bottle service so I didn't have to pay squat for cover. I ordered a sprite because my previous meal was upsetting my stomach. I had two bucks out expecting to be rang up for a buck or two... Three buck soda. Outrageous. I threw him a five, just cuz I didn't pay cover and I was frustrated. I walked around a bit. Girls okay. Lots of dudes standing around and hovering like wall flies. But nobody was dancing! It was really noisy and the music was horrible. Parking is bad too, luckily I found street parking on Bishop. I would not come here again.
Review Source:This was our jump off spot on Saturday nites......I think I like this place ALOT cuz we know the bouncers n bartenders especially so getting in n getting a stiff drink was easy to come by. The only downer is that the bathrooms are outside around the corner but then again they have choke stalls n it doesn't have some old guy standing next to u with a towel after u wash ur hands so I guess it's not too bad. All in all this place is great.... It has hot ass females, cool ass bartenders, n bomb ass music what more does a club need?!?!
Review Source:It's a cozy little venue. Â Self parking is $2 with validation for all of you who want to save $$ Â on parking. Â They replayed a few songs. Â This place has a lot of security so ladies if some dude is harassing you they will come to the rescue. Â The only thing that I dislike is that the bathrooms are far away.
Review Source:The Villa is a nice club, and is actually nicer compared to others I've been to in Oahu. Their FTF (French Toast Fridays) are pretty good with 1/2 off shots till midnight. The French Toast shot itself is pretty good, though I'm not sure what the ingredients are exactly.
First time I went was last August or September and there were a lot of people. The second time I went was for my friend's graduation celebration, and YTF with Ryan Higa, Kev Jumba and their YouTube friends were there. So that was pretty cool. Recently, I guess they have been trying new promos because everyone got a free bendable mustache at the door (and I love mustaches!). It was pretty funny to watch people dancing and walking around with the mustaches on. However, I did notice that the crowd wasn't as big as it was last year. Perhaps the hype decreased since then?
Overall, I've heard this place host a few events, like with Dev, and I am very bummed I missed her! The Villa is a good space for events because it's big.
Music wise...I'm not a big fan because the playlist repeated after a while. I don't like hearing the same songs every hour. I might as well be listening to the radio. Other than that, if you're looking for a good place to have fun, dance with your friends, and have half off shots, the Villa is the place to be. Email VIP to get on the guest list to get in free before 11. They have bottle service too! I saw a bachelorette party last time having fun in their roped off section with pretty leather chairs. I'd do it for the chairs alone.

Came here for the first time for one of my friend's birthday and according to my friend's who usually come here, they said that it was kind of slow on a Saturday night. Â My friend's say that on most nights, its really packed where you cant really move freely. Â So, actually, the night we went wasnt too bad IMO cause we could mingle comfortably amongst our group. Â They do have a $10 cover charge so thats kind of bogus considering the look of the place, which is mostly just 2 bars some cocktail tables and the dance floor. Â The lighting behind the bar is nice but other than that, paying a $10 cover charge, I was expecting something much nicer. Â I'm not sure how much drinks are as I only got 1 since my friend offered but I can imagine they're pricey as well. Â The music was good through and the radio station that was there was 93.9 with slick vic as the MC. Â The dance floor lighting is nice and every few minutes they would use the fog machines so that was a cool effect. Â Overall, idk if i'd come here again, probably only if its another event for my friends.
Ive been to the Villa a couple of times, once on their opening night, and once for the DEV concert. Â I was pretty hopeful because it's a big place, and it looked like they really could have made something out of it. Â Here's the scoop:
I had emailed ahead to have my friend and I put on the guest list, however, when we showed up, they could not find our names. Â We were made to pay $10 apiece to get in. I suppose their only saving grace in this is that they didn't make us stand in the super long line, but I was still pretty peeved and I hadn't even stepped in yet. Â When we walked in, I immediately took notice of the crowd. It looked like mostly Asian tourists (maybe partially due to all the advertising on the radio, etc leading up to their opening night.) I felt a little out of place, but being used to being the minority around town, I wasn't all that preturbed. My friend and I quickly went to the bar to see the selection. Â They had a great drink selection, and it was pretty cheap. Â The bar and the club itself are pristinely clean and reminded me of a lounge in Vegas or something.
After procurring our adult beverages, we decided to head to the dance floor. Â Almost immediately, we were jumped on by two bouncers announcing to us that we could not drink on the dance floor. Ummm...okay..so, I guess we will stand on the sideline with all the other awkwardly standing people with drinks in their hands. I understand them wanting the place to be nice, but it makes for a slightly awkward and uncomfortable atmosphere.
The music was really good and there is plenty of room to dance without brushing up against a million strangers.
Overall, I would probably never go here again unless a friend wanted to or there was some kind of event. Â I'm not against it, but it's just not a comfortable place to go out and have a good time.
On our last night in Honolulu, the bf and I went out clubbing with our friends for "nerds/school girls" night... not usually a fan of this theme for clubbing but we figured out an outift and we were ready to party!
The club is huge and they played really awesome music - at least I liked it. There's more than one bar which is nice because it gets pretty packed and waiting in line to get a drink really sucks when you're surrounded by sweaty drunk people.
I really like the way the club is laid out because it feels like a warehouse because of how big it is but it also feels dance-y and spacious.
The area is nice too and they even a makeshift hot dog "stand" outside of the club... that was hilarious. It was basically a group of people who sold their hot dogs on a table while sitting on benches. Brilliant.
The only downside is that the bathrooms are outside of the club so you have to go back and forth in and out of the club if you want to pee.
This week has been full of "first time" things for me!
Sweet Home Cafe on Wed, The Villa on Fri, and Homecoming on Sat... WOOHOO!!
Ok, so The Villa is in Aloha Tower but parking is validated so remember to bring your ticket and have the bouncer at the front to stamp it. Â My friends and I emailed the villa and got our names on the guest list so we were free before 11pm. Â We got there around 10:45 and there was no line, awesome!
We were able to grab a small round table by the front bar and the drinks were strong and 1/2 shots till midnight. Â The music was a little mixed, but they did play some "black" music and my girl and I was hittin that dance floor! Â They played Pitbull twice and that's what I'm talkin about!! Â Chingy and Weezy was played a couple of times, but seriously they played Brittney Spears and the G6 song twice and that's just not cool.
The lighting was a little too lit for my taste, a club should not be complete dark but they need to dim their lights a notch.
VIP seatings are up against two different walls and this little area in front of the DJ but the dance floor is where its at. Â It reminded me of a school dance but hey, I wanted to dance, so whatever. Â Also the clubs here can not compare to the clubs in NYC, so I'll just have to re-adjust my views a little.
I liked the place, it was clean and sleek, not grimy. Â There is a floor bouncer where he's regulating the dance floor; making sure no one is bringing drinks onto the dance floor, so he's always around but he's cool, just don't break the "house rules." Â I also liked the fog machine they have, it releases cool fog which is seriously needed on the dance floor. Â I lost like 2 lbs that night!
Oh the bathroom is outside the club, shared with the mall and it is sooo hot in there! Â so try and be quick with your business or else you'll fry
Party Rock Crew party had awesome music. It was the first time that I had visited The Villa, but if the music (dubstep, electro, general party music) is similar i will be a repeat offender.
There were three bars there. The one that is located closest to the VIP area had pretty much no line and the bartender made the drinks stiff. Plus the drinks were pretty reasonably priced. All good thinks when having a night out.
A bunch of us planned on attending the Villa when we heard Holly Madison was going to be hosting the event! As fans, we dutifully showed up at their published 9pm opening time, only to find out the actual time was 10pm. Thankfully they let us in, but for this event it was a $15 cover charge if you were not on the VIP list!
We also inquired about getting bottle service so our group could play musical chair throughout the night. Even though one of the staff told us all the tables were reserved, they mysteriously had a table open when we arrived.
The club was decorated in a modern trendy fashion. Spacious and lots of access to the bar (ie not too much crowding to get a drink).
One of the annoying points of the night was the fact that bouncers on the dance floor didn't allow people to dance with their drinks in hand. I mean, its understandable that you want to keep the place classy and not sticky, but it was early in the night! People ended up dancing in a circle around the dance floor. Strange.
Bathrooms are also outside so make sure your stamp is visible! Mine was wearing off for some reason.
Missed Holly due to an accident, but heard that she wasn't giving much eye candy for the boys.
This place was cool but a bit off if that makes sense.. It's kind of like a house party where you don't really know anyone, even though we were in a big group haha.
the things I notice right away that it is spacious, and the bartenders were nice (the 3 stars).
Where it lacked was:
A) the music was nothing special, a couple top 40s mixed in with 90's and early 2000 songs, with zero transition skills - so the DJ is in need of some experience
B) The crowd is a bit young, as in they looked like little kids running around pretending to dance even though everyone is clearly of age (or with really good fakes).
C) no one drinks! there were like 7 frikkin bars in this place with barely 1 person ordering at a time, and no one really had drinks in their hands.. Maybe people were just taking shots, i dunno.
Super young crowd. No one drinking, bars empty makes for fast service but I felt bad that it seemed the club wasnt making money.
Other then that the decor was nice, bouncer gave my friend sh*t because he came in 30 seconds after us and the promoter told him to expect him, we ended up leaving to a strip club, had to salvage the night ;)
You can't spell "GHETTO" without "V-I-L-L-A"....Okay that's a little harsh, but here are the facts:
1) Every time I've been here (five times, so this is not just based one one time coming out), it's been like a 2:1 or 3:1 guy to girl ratio, with tons of skeezy guys trying to dance up on every single girl in the club. If you're going to have a $10 cover, at least have a fun/classier environment. I'd rather go to Ka, Ginza, and even pretentious Pearl and Lobby Bar or anywhere downtown than Villa any weekend of the year. The crowd is prob best described as a younger Mai Tai/Oceans crowd...if you're local you know what I mean!
2) There are no bathrooms in the club. At all. This used to be a Chinese restaurant....you have to walk outside to use the general bathroom for the Aloha Towers Marketplace. Ruins the mood, ruins the fun, seems like a major design flaw.
3) They have stupid rules. A girl I was with got stopped on the "dance floor" (which is a pointless designation as the ENTIRE floor looks exactly the same) and poked repeatedly and harshly by a bouncer because "You can't have bottles on the dance floor". Seriously...WHAT DANCE FLOOR? It all looks exactly the same. It's all the same general tile floor you'd find in any school cafeteria.
4) The last time I was there, a girl I was with stepped in gum. 10 minutes later, I also stepped in gum. Seriously, what kind of ghetto place has MULTIPLE pieces of gum just spit out on the floor? This should prob tell you what kind of crowd is here. I'm not making this up at all.
The only reason I'm giving this two stars instead of one star is because the dance music is okay (there's a lack of decent dance places in Honolulu that play dance music), the crowd I was with was fun, and the bar service was quick/open dance floor is a plus.
If you want a fun place to dance with a good ratio on the weekend, you'd be better off going to Pearl, Ginza, Ka, Rumfire on a Friday, or even pretentious Lobby Bar/Crazy Box.Trust me...
This club did not disappoint me. It delivered the fun and excitement of what a night club is suppose to have..
Came here after the fundraiser event at Rumors a place I shall never return to for reasons mention in my review. http://www.yelp.com/biz/…
Located inside the Aloha Tower Marketplace on the second floor. This was my first time coming here and I didn't expect this place to be this nice. This place is spacious with windows looking towards the main street and the waterfront, a cool ambient lighting, a huge bar, and plenty of dancing space.
Came here early with some friends so we did not bother waiting in line.
The downside for this place is they don't have bathrooms, you have to go outside.
Parking is OK, again I got here early so I didn't have any problems not sure how bad it is when you come a little bit later. Make sure you get your ticket validated by the cashier at the entrance
If you get hungry and you don't feel like leaving the area there's a hot dog stand outside of the club, cost only $2.
My time here was pretty awesome, and it was a fun filled night for me. The night got a little crazy after a couple of drinks and a shot and stayed here till the end. I look forward in coming back here again.
Yelp 365 Challenge - #025/365
I like the villa. It has a nice and trendy atmosphere. They're currently running a promo (French Toast Fridays) 1/2 off shots till
midnight.
The place feels big until more people start coming. There are lots of places just to hang out and create your own little dance floor if you're with your friends.
As far as music goes I think it depends who is DJaying. The dj had hip hop going on one night and my most recent time over I think they were doing some dub step maybe? or they were trying to add that in or something!
Located in front of Aloha tower, Villa is anything but ghetto. I went on a Friday, French Toast Friday to be exact, and it was so much fun! Guest list close's at 11pm sharp and there wasn't a crazy line so it was great not waiting. Â When you get in you feel the AC immediately. Â It's good that it's not crazy packed like a sardine so you can actually get drinks without waiting in a long sweat box line. Â Its half off shots till 12am so if getting drunk is your mission, this is the place to be for a cheap, fun time!
Review Source:I like the decor and atmosphere here. Â Good mix of patrons ranging from 20s-30s. Â Floor space is very open, low ceilings, and not too many places to sit unless you reserve a table/couch.
There are high tables and chairs but a limited amount. Â Lots of dance space and art paintings by Winette line the walls. Â I have not tried the food here so I can't say what it's like.
Music is good and it depends pretty much on the skill of whomever DJs that night but from what I've seen so far they do a good job.
There are no restrooms inside the nightclub, you have to walk outside and use the general restrooms of the mall.
The bottle service special is AWESOME! $125 (half off from $250) for a bottle of stoli and came with 3 mixes, your private table and no cover for all your guests!
Drew was very helpful and attentive. He escorted us in personally, constantly checked to see if we needed anything and came to say goodbye after the night ended.
The music was good. I'd say the crowd was mostly local, from early 20s to 30s.
The bathroom was a bit of walk, but tons of stalls and never had to wait long, so no complaints about the bathroom being outside of the club.
Parking is $2 all night and tons of street parking in downtown.
This place is small and gets pretty hot especially if you love to dance.
I don't club often but I'd definitely come back if I do again!
Nightlife in hawaii is always the same. I checked out this spot the other weekend for an outing with my good high school friends.
there's more of a local crowd here. all were pretty cool, nobody really had a bad attitude. i expected people getting all crazy and being all rowdy, but this wasn't the case. everybody respected the security and the promoters. Â
the promoter, Drew was really cooperative in helping us with getting us what we wanted. the deals were super killer too. no hassle at the door, we all walked straight in. even the bouncers were friendly.
we had a nice big open spot away from the dance floor. our bottle service girl, crystal, gave us 5 star service. kept my big carafe of water filled at all times (i was already hammered when i got there). she kept the shots and the drinks coming for everyone. really on top of her game. i recommend her to anyone doing bottle service at the villa.
the bartenders here are all on top of their game too. give you exactly what you want and they don't make you wait. yes, they're that good.
5 stars for a great club with great service and great ambiance. the crowd isn't particularly my type, but i'd definitely go back for parties and out of town guests! good job guys, keep it up.
Definitely one of the only hot spots to go to these days. I love this place because it's so spacious and also great because there are more than one bar. My friends and I love the music selection that they play here. Anytime we want to go to some place to have a good time, we're definitely there!!
I know everyone is saying that the bathrooms are so far, but the one good thing for us girls is that there is a lot of stalls so we don't have to stand in line forever to use the bathroom.
The only one criticism I have is that it is really hot in villa. Other than that I'd recommend this place!
Friday and Saturday nights wouldn't be complete without stopping by the Villa.
Some how I always manage to drink more than I'd like to. But what the hey, it's the weekend!
Self parking is only $2 with validation. I prefer to self park...the walk ensures my sobriety level.
Also, I'm very thankful there's no fights here--the security is awesome!
On my return to Villa, I can definately say that the place is a lot busier. Â
Still not that impressed: Â
1) the bar by the escalor can definately use a a/c vent. Â Too hot.
2) no restrooms in the club - but I do appreciate the sign where you would think the restrooms should be informing me that they are outside.
3) VIP means bottle service and a seating area, not necessarily nice seating. Â If the club just opened, I still better have to break the couches in. Â
Im still waiting for Villa to bloom to its full potential. Â You cant just call it a club because you play music and serve alcohol (well you can, I guess...). Â Still hoping to return to write a raving review.
I went back to the Villa, and it has gotten tremendously better. I love how its a good place to get in to. I still email the day ahead, I enjoy not spending money on a cover, but I know why covers are in place (if I have to pay, I don't whine about it). They just up'd the dress code, which I love. I like going to classier places. Once I see something that resembles the Jersey Shore, I'm usually out of there, but that isn't the case here. Collared Shirts for Guys and Girls usually wear dresses. This is a fun place to go to. The decor is really nice. I love it. 100 times better than Oceans 808 (gag) and Paparazzi.
Review Source:My review of The Villa may be quite biased as someone who is just not into "this scene" anymore. And what is the scene you may wonder? Imagine a room full of Asian versions of The Situation and Snooki and you've imagined the entire clientele of this fine establishment. So, unless you do in fact idolize The Situation and Snooki, so much so that you went to go see them while they were here on Oahu, then you actually just might like this place. And that may not necessarily be a bad thing. Get on wit your bad self!
Yes, The Villa seems to be newest thing in town. It also brings the newest 21 year olds dressed in their finest cleavage producing dresses and plaid shirts and chains. (When I saw two guys standing together outside in the line dressed in the same shirt I should have known to save my money and run). The cover is $10 and that's $9 too much to pay for this place. The chaos at the bar hardly gets you in the mood to drink anymore and the bartenders work fast but there aren't a lot of them so you really have to be patient. The music is all top 40s, but it's mostly the top 40s that have the trance/hip-hop fusion thing going on, which makes for a lot of awkward dancing that people aren't sure how to groove to. So that leads you back to the bar to get drunk enough to flail your arms around and try and grind with that poor unsuspecting clubber who just walked by. Also there's no bathroom inside, you have to actually leave the club to go.
Again, take the two stars and my dismal experience with a grain of salt, because this may have been a blast when I was 21, newly carded and full of awkward youthful promise on a strobe-lit dance floor. Actually, I think I'm still youthful, I just have elitist taste now, and that always seems to bring me back to the likes of Manifest to get my groove on. But what The Villa is sorely lacking is class, but that may not be the fault of the venue itself, it's just the type of crowd it attracts.
I can't tell you how much I love this place!
It's the hottest and newest nightclub right now. Both Friday and Saturdays are always poppin. But I prefer to go on a Saturday night tho, but the lines does get crazy long especially if you aren't on the guest list!
I always find myself here almost every Saturday night (the busiest night). In fact, I was just here this past Saturday night being that it was spring break and I brought a few friends here for the first time. Of course there was a line as usual, but getting in isn't so much a problem when you're a girl or if you know people inside. All my friends whom I brought all loved it and was amazed by how nice and big the place was. Only downfall is the bathroom is located on the other end, outside of the club.
They have a huge bar with friendly staff so go see my friend Peaches he always hooks it up! The dance floor is huge compared to other nightclubs. And the music is always bumpin!! The crowd is a mixture but mainly Asians.
I always have a good time when I'm here! Although, I barely go out nowadays but when I do I always hit this place up! By far this is one of my favorite clubs on the Island!
So here's the tricky thing about Villa: it's easy to get on the guest list, but much harder to physically get into the club before the list closes at 11. If you're on the guest list and you show up any later than 10:30, expect to wait in a long, slow-moving line; I waited for a good 30 minutes, and moved forward in the guest list line about 15 feet. That's when I decided to cough up the $10 cover and forego ANY waiting in line (the "paying" line is non-existent; you want in, just pay). And there it is, ladies and gents: the reason why the line is so slow! Villa hopes you'll get frustrated waiting, and decide to pay! And no surprise that every time I get in, it's empty! Just like every other "exclusive" club.
Inside, Villa is more bright than most other clubs. Sadly however, this is the only positive point that separates it from the rest of Oahu nightlife. "Con" checklist goes as follows:
1) Nobody dances. Most likely due to the bad music.
2) Bad music.
3) If you even try to dance, one of the 7 billion "bouncers" that patrol the club will watch you like a hawk, until you slip up just a little. No drinks on dance floor, girls can't take off their footwear, no "specialty" dancing (i.e. any dancing that isn't just bobbing your head/body back and forth).
So...nobody dances, possibly due to the bad music and/or the strict dancing rules. Or does the bad music reflect the bad vibes caused by nobody dancing and the strict dance rules? Or are there strict dancing rules because of the bad music and that nobody dances? We have a conundrum, people.
4) Bathroom located a few shops over.
5) Paid parking. Also a fairly long walk to the "parking lot" located on the far opposite end of Aloha Tower.
6) Well this might be specific to me, but I started a tab, and tried to close it. They denied having my card. I asked another bartender, she said she'd get it. I waited ten minutes, then reminded her about my tab. She directed me to another bartender. I asked him to close it out, he said he'd be right back. I witnessed him serving about ten other patrons that arrived after I had asked him to close out my tab. Waited another ten minutes. Then when I finally get my tab back, I looked at "Tip," drew a line through it and laughed.
When I walked into this place, I would say the crowd was eclectic. Â I'm not sure if it was the green lights or the unfinished decor, but I felt like I was in a "club" that secretly had a gambling hall in the back or something. Â This place wasn't terrible, just awkward. So unless you're one of those people who can have fun with your friends and all you care of about is fun music, drinks and adequate ventilation, then this spot is great. Â If not then you probably will poke your nose in the air and get out of there.
Other points:
- no bathroom is not in the club: smart owners but inconvenient for patrons
- this place is showered with green mood lighting. Â i know green means go, but this is actually very off putting
- maybe it's because i went early or it wasn't packed enough, but I personally think they had excellent ventilation
- the bars are everywhere and long, so I imagine adequate for large crowds
So my friends and I went to 'The Villa' last night... Thought we would try something new. When we got there, the bouncers were polite. They told me I could not wear my hat, but I could leave it with Alisha, the girl who charges cover. So I did.
We went inside and the bar was empty. Probably about 20% capacity until midnight. I decided to stay and have a few drinks because I was out with my friends.
When I decided to change venues, around midnight, I went to collect my hat. When I asked Alisha for my hat she said, "Where's my tip?" I gave her a dollar. She told me, "That's not enough." All I had was $20's, which I told her. She told me to go get change, mind you no one told me there was a hat check charge and there were no posted signs. I asked for my hat again, she waved it in my face and then hid it under the counter asking, " How much is your hat worth?" At this point I was amazed.
I told Alisha I wasn't going to pay anything for my hat because she was committing a felony. What she did is called 'extortion'. Fortunately for her, but unfortunately for me, I don't believe in wasting police officers time with trivial stuff like this... One of my friends gave Alisha the $5 she desperately needed at the expense of her integrity.
So then we went on our way to enjoy the rest of our night at a much better club called Ginza with more people, better music, cheaper drinks and better looking girls.
So in summation, when a club is dead, staff get desperate for money. Staff who have no integrity and no education in customer service can potentially ruin a customers vacation experience. Also when word of mouth like this spreads, the club owner and other staff members will lose incalculable dollars because of one employee... Good job Alisha. U are one smart cookie.
But in all seriousness, this was a really negative experience because of one person who was being very ugly.
It could be the drunkeness from celebrating on NYE, but I had a great time at this club. Â $10 entry, but no line. Â Granted this wasn't their real opening so I have no idea what kind of line it will command. Â
Anyway, got in and my first impression was...DAYUM, this place is HUGE! Â Like the other comments say, there is not really a designated dance floor, but in my mind, that's awesome. Â More room to roam and dance and at least you don't feel like a sardine designated to a 30x30 wooden dance floor. Â What I hate most about clubs is pushing and shoving to even get your own personal space to dance. Â Since this place is so big, I didn't have to worry about someone stepping on my feet, spilling a drink on me, or pushing me while I'm in the middle of a dance move. Â haha. Â :)
I made a bee line straight to the bar which was, if I recall correctly in my drunken stupor, decorated with pink and purplish lights. Â Did not take long to get a drink and patron shots for everyone! Â It was about $8 a shot which I think is reasonable especially for NYE. Â I only took shots here so I'm not sure how their mixed drinks tasted like, but my friends got their drinks in tall glasses. Â That's a plus. Â Â
This place is definitely a place for those who want to get their dance on, and after the drinks and shots I took, I was ready to dance! Â And dance I did to the music that I thought was decent. Â If you're looking for a place where you can talk to your friends, this is not it. Â More a place for dancing feet than moving mouths. Â
Good: Â Music, Spacious for dancing
Bad: Â Nothing really bad in my opinion.
Worth Another Visit: Â Yes
Night life is always changing in hawaii and there have been many a time where friends and I did not know what to do with our weekends. It's always refreshing when something new and classy opens up.
The villa at Aloha tower is just that. Modern decor and loads of cool art, villa is surprisingly spacious and comfortable. Parking is ample and the place is easy to spot from the street.
My friends and I partied at the villa after catching the new year fire works and it was the perfect end to our evening. Drinks were served in tall glasses and the bar moved quickly. My kind of place! And the dance floor is huge!
I will definitely be going back to get my drink and dance on!
Meh. Gross.
Zanzibar and now The Villa.
I get here slightly after the strike of midnight on New Years. This place has no sense of utilitarian design. Yea they bought fancy LED lights and flatscreens, but they can't even design an ENTRANCE. Seriously, this place has no distinct entrance. If it weren't for the stupid new-years-line, I would have no idea how to enter this place.
The large french doors by the escalator is what one would assume is the entrance. It was their exit. A non-distinct cutout in the wall was the real entrance.
The interior was massive warehousey with no real dance floor. I suppose the entire club IS a dance floor. But I didn't dance on this slippery mess of a floor, I could barely even walk.
The drinks are ok. Nothing extraordinary. It's nice that there's a million bartenders, you don't really have to wait for a drink.
Clientele is total Asian-nation Far East Movement wannabes that think they have some sort of game.
When I asked where the bathroom is, they tell me it is OUTSIDE at the Aloha Tower public bathrooms. WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF CLUB HAS NO BATHROOM.
This place is in a not-hot area of Aloha Tower, so I assume this place will not take off whatsoever. But who knows, I may be wrong, and it'll become the new Zanzibar; complete with 30 cops standing in front, waiting to hand out DUI's and liquor commission citations.
